At Haverford College - Lost 12-9

The Greyhounds dropped their final game of the season, falling to Haverford College, 12-9, in non-conference action. Moravian led 2-0 in the game and 5-4 before allowing seven runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Greyhounds hit four home runs in the game with solo shots from sophomore catcher Geoffrey Deen and junior third baseman Jeff Meila, a two-run blast from sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell and a three-run homer from sophomore outfielder Greg Peters. Meila's homer was the 99th hit of his Moravian career while Peters finished the game with four RBIs. Senior outfielder Michael Abbate was three-for-four in the game with two runs scored and a double. Abbate broke the Moravian single season record for hits, finishing the year with 43 hits. He tied the old record of 41 held by four players with a leadoff double in the first inning and he broke the mark with a RBI single in the third. Abbate finishes his Moravian career with 118 hits, fourth in school history, and 118 runs, the school record. Abbate and junior first baseman Bob Frey finished the season with 131 at-bats a new Moravian record. Frey was three-for-five in the game. Senior Randy Woolley suffered the loss on the mound, allowing 11 runs, only two were earned, on eight hits and four walks with four strikeouts in seven innings. Sophomore Andrew Park tossed the final inning of the game.

Vs. Wilkes University - Canceled

Moravian had its final home game of a the season, a make-up non-conference game versus Wilkes University canceled due to rain and poor field conditions. 

At Albright College - Lost 16-7

The Greyhounds lost the second game of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader to Albright College, 16-7, and dropped all three games in the series to the Lions over the weekend. Moravian finished out the Commonwealth Conference portion of its schedule with a 6-15 mark this season. Junior first baseman Bob Frey and junior third baseman Jeff Meila were each two-for-four in the game with RBIs while sophomore catcher Geoffrey Deen connected on a three-run homer. Senior outfielder Michael Abbate had a double in the game to give him 40 hits on the season, one shy of the Moravian record. Sophomore Greg Peters took the loss on the mound, allowing 12 runs, seven earned on nine hits and three walks with one strikeout in three innings of relief. Freshman Andrew Wach tossed three innings with four runs allowed, three of them earned, on three hits and two walks with one strikeout. The Greyhound pitchers also hit six batters in the game.

At Albright College - Lost 13-12

Moravian dropped the first game of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader at Albright College, 13-12, on a two-run home run by Albright's Toby Ranck in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Greyhounds scored once in the first inning, twice in the second, once in the fourth, once in the sixth and five times in the seventh. Senior designated hitter Bill Quinn hit a pair of solo homers in the game and was two-for-three while freshman shortstop Chris Benigno was two-for-four and both players scored three runs. Junior first baseman Bob Frey was two-for-four in the game and he had four RBIs to give him a new Moravian record of 37 RBIs this season. Freshman outfielder Chris Clancy was also two-for-four in the contest while junior third baseman Jeff Meila was two-for-two. Freshman pitcher Andrew Wach suffered the loss, allowing Ranck's homer. Freshman Stephen Tomaszewski allowed eight runs, only four earned on eight hits with three walks and a strikeout in four innings. Sophomore Brett Porter was touched for four earned runs on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.

Vs. Albright College - Lost 10-5

The Greyhounds suffered a 10-5 setback to Albright College in the first game of the final three-game Commonwealth Conference series for both schools. Moravian fell behind 6-0 in the top of the first inning and rallied to cut the score to 7-4 but the Lions kept control of the game. The Greyhounds got a run back in the bottom of the as sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell scored on a throwing error after stealing third base. Moravian added a run in the second inning with sophomore third baseman Geoffrey Deen scoring on a fielder's choice grounder by freshman shortstop Chris Benigno. Moravian got two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning when junior first baseman Bob Frey ripped a two-run homerun to left field to score junior catcher Jeff Meila. The homer was Frey's ninth of the season and the 17th of his career, both school records. He broke the Moravian career record for RBIs with 76 and he also drew two walks to give him 28 on the year and break the single season mark. The Greyhounds scored their final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth when Turtell ripped a triple down the right field line to score senior designated hitter Bill Quinn. Moravian was limited to just six hits in the game. Freshman Chris Clancy took the loss on the mound, allowing ten runs, eight of them earned, on 11 hits and five walks with one strikeout in seven innings. Junior Ryan Boyle tossed the final two innings of the game, allowing just one hit.

Vs. DeSales University - Lost 12-6

Moravian gave up five runs in the first inning and couldn't come back in a 12-6 loss to DeSales University in non-conference play. DeSales led 7-0 before Moravian got on the board. The Greyhounds cut the Bulldogs lead to 7-2 in the bottom of the second inning on a RBI single by sophomore second baseman Anthony Capo and a delayed steal of second by Capo that got sophomore outfielder Greg Peters across the plate. After DeSales scored a run in the top of the third, Moravian added three runs to cut the lead to 8-5 in the bottom of the third. Sophomore designated hitter Ethan Ordog hit a three-run triple to the gap in left center to score senior outfielder Michael Abbate, sophomore shortstop Matthew Turtell and junior first baseman Bob Frey. The Bulldogs would extend their lead to 10-5 in the top of the fourth and the Greyhounds scored their final run in the bottom of the fourth on an infield single by Turtell that scored Capo. DeSales finished the scoring with two runs in the top of the sixth. The Greyhounds had just six hits in the contest. Senior Randy Woolley suffered the loss on the mound, allowing 12 runs, nine of them earned, on 15 hits with three walks and two strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Freshman Chris Benigno tossed the final 3 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and a walk.

At Haverford College - Postponed until April 29th

For the second time this season, Moravian has had its non-conference game with Haverford College postponed due to rain. The game has been rescheduled for Monday, April 29th at 3:30 p.m.

At Centenary (NJ) College - Won 8-7 (12 innings)

The Greyhounds earned an 8-7, 12-inning victory over Centenary (NJ) College in non-conference action at Skylands Park. The Greyhounds took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly by sophomore designated hitter Ethan Ordog that scored sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell and a bases-loaded walk to freshman outfielder Chris Clancy, which scored junior catcher Jeff Meila. Moravian extended its lead to 4-0 with a pair of runs scoring on errors. Centenary scored three runs in the fourth inning and three more in the sixth to take a 6-4 lead. The Greyhounds responded with a single run in the seventh scoring on an error and two runs in the eighth crossing the plate on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly by junior first baseman Bob Frey. Centenary scored once in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings. The Greyhounds scored the winning run in the top of the 12th inning when senior outfielder Michael Abbate tripled and scored on an error. Moravian had seven hits in the game with two each from Turtell and Meila. Senior pitcher Bill Quinn tossed the first five innings of the game, allowing five runs, two of them earned, on eight hits with two walks and a strikeout. Freshman Andrew Wach pitched the final seven innings for Moravian to earn the victory, his second of the season. Wach gave up two runs, only one earned, on seven hits with two walks and a strikeout.

Vs. Elizabethtown College - Lost 11-5

Moravian lost the second game of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader to Elizabethtown College, 11-5. The Blue Jays took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning before Moravian scored two runs in the bottom of the second for a 2-1 lead. The Greyhounds got one run on a RBI single by freshman outfielder Chris Clancy, which scored sophomore outfielder Greg Peters, and the other crossed the plate as sophomore catcher Geoffrey Deen scored while Elizabethtown attempted to throw Clancy stealing second base. The Blue Jays tied the game with a run in the top of third inning but Moravian took the lead right back in the bottom of the inning on a RBI single by Peters that scored senior outfielder Michael Abbate. Elizabethtown opened up a 9-3 lead with a seven-run fifth inning. The Greyhounds would get single runs on the fifth and sixth innings but the Blue Jays tallied two runs in the top of the seventh for the 11-5 win. Moravian's run in the fifth inning scored when Peters hit a RBI single to right field to score Abbate. The Greyhounds' run in the sixth was a RBI single by Abbate that scored freshman second baseman Adam Goetz. Moravian had eight hits in the game with Abbate and junior designated hitter Jeff Meila each going three-for-four. Sophomore starter Brett Porter suffered the loss on the mound, allowing nine runs, five of them earned, on 11 hits and walk in five innings. Porter, who falls to 4-3 on the year, did have three strikeouts. Sophomore Andrew Park tossed two innings in relief and allowed two unearned runs on a hit and three walks.

Vs. Elizabethtown College - Lost 6-2

The Greyhounds were knocked out of the Commonwealth Conference playoff race with a 6-2 loss to Elizabethtown College in the first game of a Commonwealth Conference twinbill. The Blue Jays scored four runs in the top of the third inning and never looked back as the squad added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. The Greyhounds scored once in the third inning on a RBI single by junior outfielder Jeff Meila that scored junior third baseman Ryan Boyle. Moravian's other run came in the fifth inning as Meila hit a sacrifice fly to center field that chased home freshman shortstop Chris Benigno. The Greyhounds had seven hits in the game with sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell going three-for-four. Freshman pitcher Chris Clancy suffered the loss on the mound for Moravian, allowing six runs, only two were earned, on 11 hits with three walks and six strikeouts.

At Elizabethtown College - Lost 11-2

Moravian dropped the opening contest of a three-game Commonwealth Conference at Elizabethtown College, falling to the host Blue Jays, 11-2. The start of the game was delayed an hour as a thunderstorm hit just as the teams were taking the field. The Blue Jays jumped out to a 2-0 lead with runs in the first and fifth innings before Moravian tied the game in the top of the sixth on a RBI single by juniors third baseman Jeff Meila, which scored senior outfielder Michael Abbate, and a ground out by first baseman Bob Frey that scored sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell. Meila was two-for-four in the game. Freshman Stephen Tomaszewski suffered the loss on the mound, allowing five runs, four of them earned, on eight hits, six walks with six strikeouts in seven innings of work. Junior Ryan Boyle pitched the final inning of the game, allowing six runs, only one was earned, on five hits.

Vs. Messiah College - Won 7-3

The Greyhounds rallied from a 3-0 deficit to earn a 7-3 victory over Messiah College in the final game of the three-game Commonwealth Conference series between the two schools. Messiah scored all three of its runs in the top of the second inning. Pete Godino hit a two-RBI single and Derek Price hit a RBI sacrifice fly to right field. The Greyhounds got a run back in the bottom of the second inning on a RBI single by junior third baseman Ryan Boyle, which scored sophomore outfielder Greg Peters. Moravian took the lead for good with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Boyle drew a bases loaded walk to drive in junior first baseman Bob Frey with the first run. Freshman shortstop Chris Benigno dropped down a suicide squeeze bunt to score Peters and tie the game at 3-3. Senior outfielder Michael Abbate drove in freshman catcher Michael Young with the go-ahead run on a bases-loaded RBI single. Sophomore outfielder Ethan Ordog drove in Boyle with a RBI single to give Moravian a 5-3 lead. The Greyhounds would add two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on a RBI single by Ordog that scored Benigno and a fielder's choice grounder by Frey that scored Abbate. Moravian had 12 hits in the game of the bats of eight different players. Frey was three-for-five in the game while Ordog was two-for-two and Abbate was two-for-five. Senior pitcher Randy Woolley improved to 2-3 on the season with the complete game victory. He allowed three runs on ten hits and four walks with five strikeouts.

At Messiah College - Lost 11-2

Moravian lost the second game of a Commonwealth Conference twinbill to host Messiah College, 11-2. The Greyhounds fell behind early, 2-0, and gave up 11 earned runs on 18 hits. Sophomore Brett Porter suffered the loss, tossing 3 2/3 innings while freshman Andrew Wach pitched 2 1/3 innings. Moravian scored its two runs in the top of the fifth inning. Senior designated hitter Bill Quinn led of the inning with a double and he scored on a two-run homerun by freshman catcher Michael Young, the first homer of his career. Moravian's only other hits of the game was a double by senior outfielder Michael Abbate to lead off the top of the first inning.

At Messiah College - Lost 2-0

Playing for the first time in almost a week due to rain, the Greyhounds dropped the first game of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader to Messiah College, 2-0. Freshman Chris Clancy allowed just four hits in the game and both runs were unearned. Clancy allowed one walk and struck out two. The Greyhounds had just two hits in the game, singles by senior outfielder Michael Abbate and junior third baseman Jeff Meila.

Vs. Messiah College - Postponed until April 17th

Due to poor field conditions after rain Sunday night and early Monday morning has forced the Greyhounds to postpone its Commonwealth Conference game with Messiah College until Wednesday, April 17th at 3:30 p.m. The two teams will play a doubleheader at Messiah on Tuesday, April 16th at 1:00 p.m.

Vs. Drew University - Postponed 

Moravian has postponed its non-conference game with Drew University, scheduled for a second time in two days due to rescheduling a Commonwealth Conference game.  There is no make-up date scheduled at this time.

At Messiah College - Postponed until April 15th or 16th

Due to rain and poor field conditions, Moravian has had its Commonwealth Conference doubleheader at Messiah College until either Monday, April 15th or Tuesday, April 16th at 1:00 p.m. depending on field conditions at Messiah.

Vs. Messiah College - Postponed until April 15th or 16th

Due to poor field conditions after several hours of rain, Moravian postponed its Commonwealth Conference game with Messiah College until either Monday, April 15th or Tuesday, April 16th at 3:00 p.m. depending on field conditions at Messiah for the postponed doubleheader.

Vs. Wilkes University - Postponed to April 28th

The Greyhounds single game with Wilkes University for Monday, April 15th has been postponed as Moravian has had to reschedule a Commonwealth Conference game for that afternoon. The game was rescheduled for Sunday, April 28th at 2:00 p.m.

Vs. Lehigh University - Lost 11-5

Moravian dropped it second straight non-conference game, falling to NCAA Division I Lehigh University, 11-5. The Mountain Hawks had a 2-0 lead after the first inning and never looked back, leading by as many as eight runs in the game. The Greyhounds cut Lehigh's lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the second inning on an error by Lehigh's centerfielder that scored freshman outfielder Chris Clancy, who had singled. Moravian scored three runs in the seventh inning with sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell hitting a two-RBI double down the left field line. Turtell would cross the plate on a RBI single by junior first baseman Bob Frey. The Greyhounds final tally came in the ninth inning when sophomore second baseman Anthony Capo drove home senior outfielder Michael Abbate with a doubled off the left field fence. Turtell was two-for-four in the game as Moravian had seven hits. Lehigh had 16 hits in the game led by a six-for-six performance by Jesse Novalis, who homered and doubled in the game while scoring four runs. Moravian senior Bill Quinn suffered the loss on the mound, allowing six runs on ten hits with six strikeouts in six innings of work. Freshman Chris Benigno moved in from his shortstop position to pitch the final three innings, allowing five runs, two of them earned, on six hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

At Delaware Valley College - Lost 6-5

The Greyhounds dropped a 6-5 non-conference decision to Delaware Valley College as the team played the fifth of 11 games in a 12-day stretch. Moravian had three homeruns in the contest but it wasn't enough to pull out the victory. The Greyhounds trailed 3-0 before sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell connected on his first career homerun, a two-run shot in the top of the seventh inning. Sophomore outfielder Greg Peters hit his fourth homer of the year in the top of the eighth, another two-run dinger. The Greyhounds final run came on a solo shot by junior first baseman Bob Frey, his record breaking eighth of the season and the 16th of his career. Frey breaks his own school record of seven homers in a year. Frey and junior third baseman Jeff Meila were each two-for-five in the contest. Junior pitcher Ryan Boyle tossed the complete game for the Greyhounds, allowing six runs on eight hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Delaware Valley won the game with back-to-back-to-back homeruns in the eighth inning.

At University of Scranton - Won 19-9

Moravian snapped a two-game losing streak with a 19-9 victory over the University of Scranton in non-conference action. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning and never looked back. Moravian's five runs came on a bases loaded walk to sophomore outfielder Ethan Ordog that scored senior outfielder Michael Abbate who had doubled to lead off the game. Sophomore outfielder Greg Peters followed Ordog with a three-RBI triple and Peters would score on a delayed steal while sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell was stealing second base after walking. Moravian added two runs in the second inning on a two-run single by junior catcher Jeff Meila. After allowing a run in the bottom of the second, the Greyhounds tacked on three more runs in the third inning on RBI singles by freshman shortstop Chris Benigno and Meila and a Scranton error. The Royals cut Moravian's lead to 10-4 with three runs in the bottom of the third inning. The Greyhounds added five runs in the top of the fifth inning on two-RBI singles by Meila and Peters and a Scranton error. After allowing four runs in the bottom of the fifth, Moravian made the score 19-8 with four tallies in the top of the sixth. The Greyhounds scored on a RBI single by freshman outfielder Chris Clancy, a bases loaded walk to Turtell and a pair of Scranton errors. The Royals made a total of seven errors in the game. The final run of the contest was scored by Scranton in the bottom of the ninth inning. For Moravian, Peters was three-for-five with five RBIs while Meila and Benigno were each three-for-six. Meila had three RBIs while Benigno and junior third baseman Ryan Boyle each scored three runs. Abbate and Clancy each crossed the plate four times in the game. Freshman Andrew Wach earned the victory on the mound for Moravian, tossing 4 1/3 innings of hitless relief. Wach allowed just one unearned run and had five strikeouts for his first career victory. Sophomore Andrew Park started and pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing eight runs, five of them earned, on ten hits and three walks while striking out one.

Vs. Lebanon Valley College - Lost 6-0

The Greyhounds could muster just three singles, dropping the second game of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader to Lebanon Valley College, 6-0. Freshman outfielder Chris Clancy, junior first baseman Bob Frey and sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell had the only hits for the Greyhounds, who gave up six runs in the first three innings. Senior Randy Woolley took the loss on the mound, allowing the six runs on 12 hits with four walks and a strikeout in six innings of action. Senior Bill Quinn tossed the final inning of the game and allowed one hit while striking out two batters. 

Vs. Lebanon Valley College - Lost 7-6 (nine innings)

Moravian had its four-game winning streak snapped with a 7-6, nine-inning loss to Lebanon Valley College in the first game of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader. The Greyhounds trailed 1-0 after the first inning but took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning on a two-RBI triple by sophomore outfielder Greg Peters that scored sophomores designated hitter Ethan Ordog and catcher Geoffrey Deen, who had singled. Peters scored on a sacrifice squeeze bunt by freshman shortstop Chris Benigno. However, Lebanon Valley tied the game with two runs in the top of the third inning and the Flying Dutchmen took a 5-3 lead with a pair of runs in the fourth inning. The Greyhounds tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth when senior outfielder Michael Abbate hit a ground out that scored Peters, who had singled. Freshman outfielder Chris Clancy followed with a RBI single to right field that scored sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell, who had reached on a single. The game was tied until the top of the ninth inning when Lebanon Valley's Steve Anspach hit a two-RBI double to give the Flying Dutchmen a 7-5 lead. The Greyhounds got a run back in the bottom of the ninth on a RBI single by Ordog the scored Abbate but it wasn't enough as the tying run was left at third base. In the game, Peters was three-for-four with two RBIs while Abbate and Ordog were each three-for-five. Abbate singled in the sixth inning for the 100th hit of his career, the seventh Moravian player to reach 100 hits and the fourth in the last three seasons. Deen had two hits in the game as Moravian pounded out 15 hits. Freshman Stephen Tomaszewski suffered the loss on the mound, his first of the season, tossing five innings of relief of sophomore starter Brett Porter. Tomaszewski allowed two unearned runs on three hits and one walk while striking out five batters. Porter gave up five runs, four of them earned on seven hits with two walks and one strikeout.

At Lebanon Valley College - Won 13-9

Sophomore outfielder/pitcher Greg Peters hit a three-run homerun in the second inning and tossed six innings in relief to lead Moravian  to a 13-9 victory over conference front-runner Lebanon Valley College in Commonwealth Conference action. The Greyhounds have won four straight games and are in the middle of the pack in the Commonwealth Conference while the Flying Dutchmen are picked to win the conference this season. Lebanon Valley scored three runs in the first inning with two outs on a RBI single, delayed double steal and a wild pitch. The Greyhounds would take the lead with four runs in the top of the second inning when junior first baseman Bob Frey scored on an error and Peters connected on his homer to score sophomore outfielder Ethan Ordog and sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell. The Flying Dutchmen took the lead right back in the third inning with three more runs on a homerun by Steve Anspach and a pair of RBI doubles. Moravian moved into the lead for good in the top of the fourth inning when the Greyhounds scored four runs. Peters led off the inning with a walk and scored on a RBI single by freshman pitcher/outfielder Chris Clancy. Junior third baseman Jeff Meila hit a RBI single to score senior outfielder Michael Abbate. Clancy would score on a fielder’s choice by Ordog and Meila crossed the plate on an error. The Greyhounds gave Peters, who pitched the final six innings in relief of Clancy, some insurance runs in the fifth, sixth and eighth innings. Moravian scored a pair of runs in the fifth on a two-RBI single by Meila that scored Abbate (the 100th run of Abbate's career and the first Moravian player to ever surpass 100 runs in a career) and freshman shortstop Chris Benigno. Moravian added a single run in the sixth inning on a RBI single by Abbate that scored Clancy and the Greyhounds scored their final two runs in the eighth inning an error and a RBI single by Abbate. For Moravian, Abbate and Meila were each four-for-five at the plate with two and three RBIs respectively while Ordog was three-for-six. The Greyhounds had 13 hits in the game and had an additional 14 runners reach base on walks and another two hit-by-pitches. Clancy allowed six runs, three of them earned, on seven hits with two walks in three innings while Peters gave up three runs, two earned, on seven hits and four walks.

At Susquehanna University - Won 6-3

The Greyhounds swept a three-game Commonwealth Conference series from Susquehanna University, winning the second game of a doubleheader, 6-3. Moravian jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning when junior third baseman Jeff Meila hit a RBI single to score senior outfielder Michael Abbate. Starting pitcher, senior Randy Woolley allowed three unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning but he settled down to allow three walks while striking out four in five innings of work, earning his first win of the season. Moravian cut the Crusaders' lead to 3-2 in the third inning when freshman outfielder Chris Clancy connected on a sacrifice fly to score freshman shortstop Chris Benigno. Clancy would drive in the tying run in the fifth inning when he scored sophomore outfielder Greg Peters on a fielder's choice. Clancy then got in an intentional rundown to score Benigno on a delayed steal to give the Greyhounds the lead for good. Junior first baseman Bob Frey gave the Greyhounds some insurance in the sixth inning with a solo homerun to right field. The homer was Frey's seventh of the season, tying his own single season record and extending his own career mark to 15 dingers. The Greyhounds final run in the sixth inning scored when sophomore catcher Geoffrey Deen, who had singled, scored on a sacrifice fly by Peters. Peters came into pitch in the sixth inning and struck out two while walking none to earn his first save of the season. Susquehanna, which has now lost 12 straight games, had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning but Peters forced a fly out and he struck out the final batter to end the game.

At Susquehanna University - Won 3-0

Sophomore pitcher Brett Porter tossed a one-hitter with two strikeouts and just one walk and one hit batter to lead Moravian to a 3-0 victory over Susquehanna University in the first game of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader. Porter allowed just a single in the third inning while picking up his fourth win of the season. The Greyhounds gave Porter all the offense he would need in the top of the third inning while junior third baseman Jeff Meila hit a two-run double and junior first baseman Bob Frey hit a RBI ground out to give Moravian the 3-0 lead. The Greyhounds have five hits in the contest and senior outfielder Michael Abbate was two-for-four in the game with a double. The shutout was the fifth straight time that Susquehanna had been shut out at home dating back to last season.

Vs. Susquehanna University - Won 3-0

The Greyhounds snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-0 victory over Susquehanna University in Commonwealth Conference action. Freshman pitcher Chris Clancy tossed his second straight complete game and won for the first time in his Moravian career, scattering five hits and allowing three walks while striking out eight in the victory. Clancy also got the offense started for the Greyhounds. In the bottom of the first inning, Clancy doubled to left field with one out and moved to third on a ground out by junior third baseman Jeff Meila before scoring on a single by junior first baseman Bob Frey. Moravian would extend the lead to 2-0 in the fourth inning when sophomore outfielder Ethan Ordog scored on a single by sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell. The Greyhounds final run came in the seventh inning when freshman shortstop Chris Benigno scored on a single by Meila. Frey and Turtell were both two-for-three with a RBI in the game while Meila was two-for-four with a RBI.

Vs. Alvernia College - Lost 9-4

Moravian dropped its fourth straight game, falling to Alvernia College, 9-4, in an eight-inning, non-conference game. The Greyhounds trailed 6-0 after two innings before scoring a run in third. Junior third baseman Jeff Meila hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score senior outfielder Michael Abbate. The Greyhounds would cut the score to 6-3 in the fifth inning when sophomore outfielder Ethan Ordog hit a double to the gap in right center to score freshman outfielder Chris Clancy and Meila. Moravian scored its final run in the bottom of the sixth inning after allowing three runs in the top half of the inning. Sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell led off the inning with a single and he scored on a triple by freshman shortstop Chris Benigno. Turtell finished the game four-four-four at the plate for Moravian while Clancy was three-for-four and Benigno was two-for-three. Junior Ryan Boyle suffered the loss on the mound for the Greyhounds, lasting just two innings. Sophomore Greg Peters and freshman Steve Tomaszewski each tossed three innings in relief while sophomore Andrew Park pitched to five batters in the sixth inning. 

At Widener University - Lost 4-3

The Greyhounds closed out their three-game Commonwealth Conference series with a 4-3 loss to Widener University in Chester. Moravian took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a triple by junior first baseman Bob Frey that scored junior third baseman Jeff Meila. Widener would take the lead in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run homerun by junior Zach Taylor. The Greyhounds retook the lead in the third inning with a sacrifice fly by Frey to score senior outfielder Michael Abbate and an infield grounder by sophomore designated hitter Ethan Ordog that scored freshman outfielder Chris Clancy. Widener took the lead for good in the bottom of the third on a homerun by senior Jeff Kennedy and a RBI single by junior Chris Carter. For Moravian, Meila was two-for-three in the game while Clancy was two-for-five. Senior pitcher Randy Woolley went the distance for Moravian, allowing the four runs on ten hits with two walks and four strikeouts for his first complete game of the season.

Vs. Widener University - Lost 5-4

Moravian tried to rally from a 5-1 deficit but came up short in the second game of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader, falling to Widener University, 5-4. The Greyhounds had a 1-0 lead in the first inning of the game when senior outfielder Michael Abbate scored on a steal of home. With Moravian trailing in the sixth inning, Abbate connected on a one-out double that scored a pair of runs and freshman outfielder Chris Clancy hit a sacrifice fly but it wasn't enough for Moravian. Sophomore catcher Geoffrey Deen was two-for-three in the game. Sophomore hurler Brett Porter suffered his first loss of the season on the mound, allowing five runs on nine hits with four strikeouts.

Vs. Widener University - Lost 4-1

The Greyhounds dropped the first game of a Commonwealth Conference twinbill with Widener University, 4-1. Sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell scored Moravian's only run in the fifth inning on an error. Turtell, senior outfielder Michael Abbate and junior catcher Jeff Meila each had singles for the Greyhounds. Freshman Chris Clancy went the distance on the mound, allowing the four runs, three of which were unearned, on five hits while walking one and striking out two batters.

At Widener University - Postponed to March 24th

Moravian had its first game of a three-game Commonwealth Conference series with Widener University postponed to to extremely cold temperatures. The game has been rescheduled for Sunday, March 24th at 2:00 p.m. in Chester.

Vs. Alvernia College - Postponed to March 25th

Due to the Greyhounds having to reschedule a Commonwealth Conference game with Widener University, Moravian has had to postponed its non-conference game with Alvernia College. The game has been rescheduled for Monday, March 25th at 3:00 p.m. in Bethlehem

At Haverford College - Postponed to April 22nd

The Greyhounds non-conference game at Haverford College has been postponed due to heavy rain. The game has been rescheduled for Monday, April 22nd at 3:30 p.m. at Haverford.

At King's College - Won 5-1

Moravian took the second game of a non-conference doubleheader with King's College, 5-1, in six innings in a game shortened by darkness and snow. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back as sophomore starter Brett Porter moved to 3-0 on the season with his second straight complete game. Porter gave up an unearned run while allowing five hits and striking out one. Freshman outfielder Chris Clancy was two-for-four in the game with two RBIs in the first inning and a double. Senior designated hitter Bill Quinn was also two-for-four in the contest with a RBI and a double.

At King's College - Lost 7-6

The Greyhounds dropped the first game of a non-conference doubleheader to King's College, 7-6, as the Monarchs scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game. Moravian had a 5-0 lead after the top of the fourth inning before King's began its comeback. Freshman outfielder Chris Clancy was three-for-four in the game while senior outfielder Michael Abbate was two-for-two with a double and two walks. Sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell had a two-run single in the fourth inning while junior catcher Jeff Meila had a RBI double in the fourth. Sophomore Andrew Park suffered the loss on the mound, tossing the final 1 1/3 innings in relief of sophomore starter Greg Peters.

At Muhlenberg College - Won 12-11 (11 innings)

Junior first baseman Bob Frey connected on a pair of homeruns to break the Moravian career homerun record of 13 and to lead the Greyhounds to a 12-11, 11-inning victory over rival Muhlenberg College. Frey's record breaking homer was a solo shot in the top of the 11th inning that proved to be the winning run for the Greyhounds. Frey and sophomore second baseman Matthew Turtell each finished the game three-for-five at the plate. Frey drove in a total of four runs in the game. Senior outfielder Michael Abbate, junior third baseman Jeff Meila, sophomore outfielder Greg Peters and sophomore catcher Geoffrey Deen each had two hits in the game with Meila, Peters and senior designated hitter Bill Quinn each having two RBIs. Peters also added a double for Moravian. Junior hurler Ryan Boyle tossed the final 3 2/3 innings for the Greyhounds to earn his first victory of the season. Boyle sat down the final 11 batters of the game in a row after hitting the first batter he faced. Senior pitcher Randy Woolley started and went five innings and allowing five earned runs with three strikeouts. Freshman Stephen Tomaszewski tossed the middle 2 2/3 innings of the contest.

Vs. Ursinus College - Lost 4-0

Moravian opened its 2002 home season with a 4-0 loss to Ursinus College. The Greyhounds had just one hit in the game with sophomore outfielder Ethan Ordog breaking up the Bears' Rob Albert bid for a no-hitter with one out in the eighth inning. Freshman Chris Clancy suffered the loss on the mound for Moravian despite allowing just three hits and three walks while striking out eight in 7 2/3 innings. Sophomore Andrew Park gave up two hits in 1 1/3 innings of action.

Vs. Bluffton (OH) College - Won 7-2

The Greyhounds closed out their spring trip to the Eastern Mennonite Sarasota Spring Classic with a 7-2 victory over Bluffton (OH) College. Moravian finished the trip with a 4-5 record including a 1-2 record in the Commonwealth Conference. Junior first baseman Bob Frey hit his fourth homerun of the tournament, a two-run shot, to lead the Greyhounds to the victory. Junior third baseman Ryan Boyle also had two RBIs on a single. Sophomore pitcher Greg Peters earned the victory on the mound, tossing six innings with four hits, no runs and six strikeouts. Senior Randy Woolley tossed one inning of relief in the victory.

Vs. Kenyon (OH) College - Won 14-5

Moravian snapped a two game losing streak with a 14-5 victory over Kenyon (OH) College at the Eastern Mennonite Sarasota Spring Classic. Junior first baseman Bob Frey had a perfect game at the plate with a five-for-five performance. Frey also added five RBIs, a homerun, a double and two runs scored. Freshman outfielder Chris Clancy was three-for-four in the contest while freshman second baseman Chris Benigno was two-for-three with three runs scored, a double and a homerun. Sophomore outfielder Ethan Ordog had a two-run homer in the game while senior designated player Bill Quinn and added a homerun. Sophomore Brett Porter tossed a complete game victory on the mound.

Vs. Eastern Mennonite (VA) University - Lost 7-6

Moravian gave up a pair of a runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to drop a 7-6 decision in the second game of a doubleheader with Eastern Mennonite (VA) University at the Eastern Mennonite Sarasota Spring Classic. Senior outfield Michael Abbate was two-for-three in the game while sophomore shortstop Matthew Turtell finished two-for-four. Sophomore outfielder Greg Peters had a solo homerun for the Greyhounds while Turtell had two RBIs. Senior designated hitter Bill Quinn and junior third baseman Jeff Meila each had doubles. Junior hurler Ryan Boyle suffered the loss on the mound with 2 1/3 innings of action in relief of sophomore Andrew Park. Park had five strikeouts in the game while Boyle struck out twice.

Vs. Eastern Mennonite (VA) University - Lost 10-3

The Greyhounds dropped the first game, 10-3, of a doubleheader with Eastern Mennonite (VA) University at the Eastern Mennonite Sarasota Spring Classic. Junior first baseman Bob Frey led the Greyhounds at the plate with a two-for-three performance with three RBIs and a homerun. Freshman pitcher Chris Clancy suffered the loss, allowing ten runs, six of them earned in six innings of work. 

Vs. Bluffton (OH) College - Won 9-7

Moravian rallied from a 7-2 deficit with seven runs over the final two innings to earn a 9-7 victory over Bluffton (OH) College at the Sarasota Spring Break Classic. The Greyhounds had just six hits in the game but junior third baseman Jeff Meila and sophomore outfielder Greg Peters each had homeruns in the game. Meila had three RBIs while Peters drove in a pair of runs. Sophomore shortstop Matthew Turtell also drove in two runs for Moravian. Freshman Chris Benigno earned the victory on the mound for the Greyhounds after tossing 3 2/3 innings. Benigno allowed an unearned run on two hits in his relief of freshman starter Andrew Wach, who had six strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings of action. 

Vs. Kenyon (OH) College - Lost 14-13

The Greyhounds tried to rally from a 14-9 deficit but came up short with the tying run thrown out at the plate to end the game in a 14-13 loss to Kenyon (OH) College at the Sarasota Spring Break Classic.  Moravian was led at the plate by junior first baseman Bob Frey and sophomore second baseman Andy Capo, who each had two hits including doubles. Frey also had three RBIs and four walks in the contest while Capo, senior outfielder Michael Abbate, senior designated hitter Bill Quinn and junior catcher Jeff Meila each had two RBIs. Quinn suffered the loss on the mound in relief of freshman Stephen Tomaszewski, who was making his first collegiate start.

Vs. Juniata College - Won 7-3

Moravian won the second game of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader versus Juniata College, 7-3, in Sarasota, Florida.  Sophomore Brett Porter earned the victory on the mound, tossing 5 1/3 innings while freshman Chris Clancy earned the save with 1 2/3 innings of action.  Clancy was two-for-three at the plate with two doubles and two RBIs while junior catcher Jeff Meila was three-for-four with two doubles and two runs scored in the victory. Senior Michael Abbate and sophomores Andy Capo and Greg Peters each drove in runs in RBI singles in the game. 

Vs. Juniata College - Lost 10-3

The Greyhounds dropped the first game of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader to Juniata College, 10-3, at the Sarasota Spring Break Classic. Moravian had just two hits in the game with a two-run homerun by junior first baseman Bob Frey and a RBI-double by freshman outfielder Chris Clancy. Sophomore Greg Peters suffered the loss on the mound for the Greyhounds, tossing three innings.  Junior hurler Ryan Boyle also pitched three innings in the game.

Vs. Juniata College - Lost 15-9

Moravian opened its 2002 season and Commonwealth Conference campaign with a 15-9 loss to Juniata College at the Sarasota Spring Break Classic.  The Greyhounds and Juniata are playing their Commonwealth Conference three-game set in Florida to start the season. The Eagles jumped out to a 11-0 lead in the first three innings, chasing Moravian starter senior Randy Woolley off the mound. At the plate, sophomore third baseman Geoffrey Deen and freshman outfielder Chris Clancy each went two-for-two with Deen hitting a homerun and driving in three runs and Clancy adding two RBIs. Senior outfielder Michael Abbate and junior first baseman Bob Frey each went two-for-three in the game.  Sophomore hurler Andrew Park had the Greyhounds longest stint on the mound, going 4 2/3 innings.
