The Greyhounds closed out the 2005 season with an 8-2 victory over Widener University in the second game of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader at Gillespie Field. Widener took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. However, Moravian would score six times in the bottom of the third inning, with five unearned runs, to take the lead for good. In the third inning, senior outfielder Chris Clancy had an RBI single to score sophomore shortstop Pete Moore, who had been hit by a pitch, with the first run. Freshman outfielder Josh Baltz had an RBI single to score Clancy before senior designated hitter Steve Tomaszewski and junior first baseman Richie Cline both scored on an error. Baltz and freshman second baseman Brett Stout scored the final two runs of the inning on another Widener error. The Pioneers scored a run in the top of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 6-2. Moravian responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI single by Tomaszewski that scored Clancy, who had also singled. The Greyhounds finished the scoring in the bottom of the fifth inning on a solo home run by sophomore catcher Colin Welles, his third homer of the season. Moravian had seven hits in the game with three by Clancy, who finished his career with 97 hits. Moravian freshman Trevor Lawrence earned his sixth victory of the season on the mound with a complete game. Lawrence, who finishes his debut season at 6-2, allowed two runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out three batters.

Senior Steve Tomaszewski tossed four innings for the Greyhounds, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk. Tomaszewski had to leave the game after being hit while batting. Freshman Matthew Swartz pitched the final three innings, allowing a run on two hits and a walk while striking out four batters.

Moravian lost the opening game of a three-game series of a Commonwealth Conference series at Widener University, 11-0. The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and extended the lead to 2-0 in the second and 3-0 in the fourth. Widener pushed eight runs across the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Greyhounds had just four hits in the game with singles by sophomore shortstop Pete Moore, senior third baseman Chris Benigno, sophomore Colin Welles and senior designated hitter Adam Goetz. Moore's hit raised his school record total to 47 for the season. Junior John Howarth suffered the loss on the mound for Moravian, falling to 0-4 on the season. Howarth allowed all 11 runs, just six of them earned, on 15 hits and three walks. Freshman pitcher Brett Stout pitched 1 1/3 innings, giving up two hits. The Crusaders took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with a pair of runs, including one unearned run. Moravian would cut the lead in half in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI fielder's choice by junior first baseman Richie Cline with the bases loaded that scored senior outfielder Adam Goetz. The Greyhounds tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the seventh inning when Cline scored an unearned run on a Susquehanna error on a ball hit by junior outfielder John Howarth. The Crusaders won the game with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Moravian had seven hits in the game with two each by Goetz and senior outfielder/pitcher Chris Clancy. Sophomore shortstop Pete Moore added a hit to raise his school record total to 46 for the season. Senior Andrew Wach started on the mound for the Greyhounds, allowing three runs, two of them earned, on eight hits and a walk while striking out two batters. Moravian won its second straight home game, defeating the University of Scranton, 8-2, in non-conference action at Gillespie Field. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning on a two-RBI single by senior designated player Steve Tomaszewski that scored freshman second baseman Brett Stout and sophomore shortstop Pete Moore. Scranton would cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning with an unearned run. Moravian would get the run back in the bottom half of the fifth on an RBI single by single third baseman Adam Goetz to score Moore. The Greyhounds extended the lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI single by Goetz to score junior outfielder John Howarth. Scranton scored another unearned run in the top of the eighth inning, cutting Moravian's lead back to 4-2. The Greyhounds finished off the scoring in the bottom of the eighth with four more runs. Freshman outfielder Josh Baltz hit a two-RBI triple to score Tomaszewski and junior first baseman Richie Cline. Sophomore catcher Colin Welles followed with an RBI single to score Baltz, and Welles scored all the way from first base on n RBI double by Stout. Stout was thrown out on the play trying to stretch the hit into a triple. Moravian finished the game with ten hits including two each by Goetz, Baltz and Stout. Freshman Trevor Lawrence improved to 5-2 on the mound for the Greyhounds, allowing two unearned runs on six hits. Lawrence struck out a season high eight batters while not allowing a walk.

The Greyhounds opened a three-game Commonwealth Conference series with Susquehanna University with an 11-8 victory at Gillespie Field. Moravian jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Senior outfielder Steve Tomaszewski hit an RBI ground out to score sophomore shortstop Pete Moore, who had led off the inning with an infield single. Junior first baseman Richie Cline followed with an RBI single to score senior third baseman Adam Goetz, who had also singled, and Cline came around to score on an RBI single by senior pitcher Chris Clancy. The Crusaders scored a run in the top of the second inning to cut the Greyhounds lead to 3-1, and Susquehanna would tie the game in the top of the sixth with a pair of runs. However, Moravian responded with six runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning to take the lead for good. Clancy started the scoring with a two-out RBI single to score Goetz, who had walked. After freshman outfielder Josh Baltz drew a walk, sophomore catcher Colin Welles connected on hit second home run of the season to drive Clancy and Baltz. Freshman second baseman Brett Stout reached on an infield hit and moved to second on a throwing error before scoring on a triple by junior outfielder John Howarth. Another Susquehanna error would allow Howarth to score the final run of the inning. The Greyhounds would add two more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to build an 11-3 lead. Messiah jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, and the Falcons added another run in the bottom of the second for a 2-0 lead. Moravian would cut the lead in half in the top of the third inning on an RBI single by senior outfielder Steve Tomaszewski that scored sophomore shortstop Pete Moore. The Falcons would push three runs across the plate in the bottom of the third for a 5-1 lead. Moravian answered with two runs in the top of the fourth inning, cutting the Messiah lead back to 5-3. Junior catcher Adam White had an RBI single to score junior designated hitter Bryan Wolf and Moore had an RBI fielder’s choice that scored senior third baseman Chris Benigno. However, the Falcons would score three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the lead 8-3. The Greyhounds would get a run back in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single to center field by sophomore shortstop Pete Moore that scored junior designated hitter Bryan Wolf, who had walked to lead off the inning. Moravian would take the lead in the bottom of the third inning on a three-run home run to left centerfield by senior third baseman Chris Benigno, his first homer of the season and the second of his Moravian career. Lebanon Valley would tie the contest at 4-4 with a single run in the top of the fourth inning, however, the Greyhounds took the lead for good in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI fielder's choice by senior second baseman Mike Trimble that scored Moore and a Flying Dutchmen error that allowed senior outfielder/pitcher Steve Tomaszewski to score. Moravian added two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to extend its lead to 8-4. Trimble had a two-RBI single that pushed Moore and senior outfielder/pitcher Chris Clancy across the plate. Moravian suffered an 11-9 loss to rival Muhlenberg College in non-conference action at Gillespie Field. Muhlenberg took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. However, the Greyhounds responded with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the first to take a 2-1 lead. Junior first baseman Richie Cline picked up an RBI on a ground ball to the shortstop that was thrown away allowing sophomore shortstop Pete Moore and senior outfielder Mike Trimble to score. The Mules took the lead for good in the third inning with a trio of runs for a 4-2 lead. Moravian would get one run back in the bottom of the third when senior outfielder Steve Tomaszewski hit an RBI single to score Moore, who had reached on an error. The Mules would score once in the top of the fifth inning for a 5-3 lead while Moravian added a run in the bottom of the sixth to cut the deficit back to a run at 5-4. In the sixth, senior third baseman Chris Benigno hit an RBI ground out to score Cline, who had led off the inning with a single. The Mules would push five runs across the plate in the top of the seventh inning for a 10-4 advantage but the Greyhounds came right back with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Moravian earned its first victory of the season as the Greyhounds defeated Beloit (WI) College, 7-4, in a non-conference game in Chandler, Arizona. Moravian jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Senior outfielder Chris Clancy drove in the first run with an RBI single to score sophomore shortstop Pete Moore. Senior outfielder Steve Tomaszewski added an RBI single to score Clancy while junior designated hitter Andrew Wayne drove in junior first baseman Richie Cline with an RBI single. Freshman outfielder Josh Baltz scored the final run on the inning on a delayed steal of home. Beloit came back in the bottom of the first inning with three runs. The Greyhounds added two more runs in the top of the second inning when Cline hit a two-RBI single to score Moore and senior third baseman Mike Trimble. Moravian added a run in the top of the third inning when Moore hit an RBI single to score Wayne. Beloit finished off the scoring in the bottom of the third inning. The Greyhounds had 12 hits in the game with two each by Moore, Trimble and Cline. Senior pitcher Chris Benigno tossed a complete game victory for the Greyhounds, allowing four runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out five batters.

Moravian lost the final game of its three-game Commonwealth Conference series with Juniata College, 10-3, in Chandler, Arizona. Juniata jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning and had a 7-0 lead after seven and a half innings. The Greyhounds scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Junior first baseman Richie Cline drove in senior outfielder Mike Trimble with an RBI single. Senior outfielder Steve Tomaszewski then drove in junior designated hitter Bryan Wolf with an RBI doubles, while Cline scored on a sacrifice fly by senior third baseman Chris Benigno. The Greyhounds, who struck out 20 times as a team in the game, had just four hits including three by Tomaszewski. Moravian did draw seven walks in the contest. Senior pitcher Andrew Wach started on the mound for the Greyhounds but left after one inning with an injury that may force him to miss the rest of the season. Wach allowed just one hit while striking out a batter. Freshman pitcher Trevor Lawrence suffered the loss on the mound for Moravian in relief. Lawrence tossed 7 2/3 innings, allowing ten runs, just seven earned, on 14 hits and a walk while striking out five batters in his collegiate debut. Freshman hurler Brett Stout game on to record the final out of the game for the Greyhounds.

The Greyhounds lost their first non-conference game of the year, falling to Lake Erie (OH) College, 12-5, in a game played in Chandler, Arizona. Moravian jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Greyhounds pushed runs across the plate when junior designated hitter Bryan Wolf was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score sophomore shortstop Pete Moore and RBI singles by sophomore catcher Colin Welles and freshman outfielder Josh Baltz that scored senior outfielder Mike Trimble and senior third baseman Chris Benigno. Lake Erie scored a run in the bottom of the first inning to cut Moravian's lead to 3-1. Lake Erie eventually took the lead at 4-3 in the bottom of the third inning with a trio of runs. Lake Erie extended its lead to 5-3 with a solo run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Moravian would get a run back in the top of the sixth inning when Welles scored on an RBI double by Baltz. Lake Erie took control of the game with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Greyhounds completed the scoring with a run in the top of the eighth inning junior first baseman Richie Cline scored on an RBI sacrifice fly by freshman outfielder Evan Walters. Moravian had nine hits in the game with Moore and Baltz each collecting three hits. Junior John Howarth suffered the loss on the mound for the Greyhounds, allowing ten runs on ten hits and two walks while striking out a batter in 5 1/3 innings of action. Freshman pitcher Matthew Schwartz tossed 1 2/3 innings for the Greyhounds, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out three batters. Freshman pitcher Brandon Cohn pitched the final inning of the game for the Greyhounds, allowing one hit and striking out two batters.

The Greyhounds had eight hits in the game with three by Moore and two each by White and senior outfielder Mike Trimble. Senior pitcher Steve Tomaszewski tossed six innings, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out two batters.
