Head Coach - Paul Engelhardt

Paul Engelhardt is set to begin his fourth season as just the fifth head coach of Moravian College's baseball program since the school began the sport in 1935. Engelhardt has posted a 54-61 record in his first three seasons indcluding leading Moravian to a Landmark Conference Tournament appearance in 2009 and the team's first winning season in 12 years.

Engelhardt came to Moravian after five years as a an assistant coach at Lafayette College where he served as the Leopards third base coach, hitting instructor and defensive catchers and outfield coach. While at Lafayette, Engelhardt helped the team participate in three Patriot League Tournaments with a runner-up finish in 2004, and he also served as recruiting co-coordinator and co-camp director.

Engelhardt was also assistant coach at Muhlenberg College for one season in 2000-01. His other local coaching experience includes a year and a half as assistant head coach of the Freemansburg Senior Legion team and four seasons as head coach of the Lower Nazareth Phillies of the Blue Mountain League (1998-2002), which included two runner-up finishes.

Engelhardt, a member of the American Baseball Coaches' Association, earned a Bachelors of Science in Psychology with minors in business, legal studies and political sciences from the University of Pittsburgh in 1996.


Assistant Coach Scott Stewart

Coach Scott Stewart is returning for his fourth year as Moravian's pitching coach. Coach Stewart is a 2002 graduate of York College of Pennsylvania and he was a two-year starter with a 9-2 career record. Coach Stewart began his collegiate career at Northampton Community College and was a two-year starter leading the team to a Pennsylvania State title in 2000. Coach Stewart spent five years as assistant pitching coach at Lafayette College from 2002-2006, helping lead the Leopards to three championships appearances in five years. Coach Stewart currently resides in Bethlehem.

 

 


Assistant Coach Ian Law

Ian Law is in his second season as an Assistant Coach at Moravian. Ian played four years at Lafayette College and after an injury shortened freshman season, Law started virtually every game over the next three years. Law ranks in the top 10 in career hits (7th-178), at-bats (7th-532), doubles (5th-36), runs scored (10th-122) and total bases (7th-254). Law's career batting average (.335) places him 19th all-time at Lafayette. Ian had a successful summer in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League in 2005 for the Kutztown Rockies. Law was voted to play in the ACBL All-Star game and set the single season double's record. After leading the league in several offensive categories, Baseball America coined Law the 4th best professional prospect in the ACBL. Law was an intricate part of two championship pushes as a Lafayette Leopard. They fell in the finals to Army in '04 and then again to Bucknell during a semi-final matchup in '06. Law was twice honored as an All-Patriot League performer and selected to the ABCA All-East Region Team in 2005. A 2006 graduate of Lafayette, Ian graduated with a Business & Economics Degree. Ian signed a professional contract with the Atlantic City Surf of the Can-Am Independent League in 2007. Originally from Linwood, NJ, Law played his high school ball at Mainland Regional and was an All-State, All-South Jersey, and All-Conference award winner. Ian is now living in Allentown and is taking classes in the Moravian MBA Program.


Assistant Coach John Connell

Coach John Connell is a graduate of Arcadia University and returning to the Greyhound coaching staff for the third straight season. While attending Arcadia University John started all four years, helping his team as a freshman to a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference championship and a birth into the NCAA tournament. After his sophomore season he spent the summer playing in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League where he was one of the Tennessee Thunder's top hitters. John ended his career at Arcadia with over 200 hits and currently holds the single season record for doubles and the career records for doubles and RBI's. He was also a three time all-conference player and twice All Mid-Atlantic Regional All-American. Before attending Arcadia John graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High School. While at Bethlehem Catholic he was a two time all-conference and three time all-area team member. John has a history degree from Arcadia and is now living in Bethlehem while taking classes in Moravian College's Teaching Certification Program.
