The 2003-2004 Moravian College men’s basketball team posted an overall record of 10-15 and a 5-8 slate in the Commonwealth Conference. Head coach Jim Walker has a record of 327-276 in 24 years at Moravian College and an overall record of 342-287in his 25th season as a head coach.
Junior forward Brandon Zaleski (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown HS), who was named to the Commonwealth All-Conference First-Team, D3hoops.com All-Region Third Team, the Most Valuable Player of the Scotty Wood Tournament and the 26th Annual Greyhound Rock Classic, led the Greyhounds on the court this season. Zaleski has become the 17th player in school history to reach 1,000 points during the Scotty Wood Tournament in November. He currently has 1,461 points, which is fifth all-time, and he has 546 career rebounds. He led the team in scoring and rebounding this season with 19.7 and 7.2, respectively and in blocked shots with 20. Zaleski has also contributed 37 assists and 37 steals.
Senior Steve Weiler (Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington City HS) was second on the team in scoring and assists with 12.4 points per game and 63 assists. He led the Greyhounds with 58 three-pointers and is second all-time in career three-point field goals with 147. Weiler has also added 27 steals and one blocked shot. Senior Kevin Wyers (Hamilton Square, NJ/Notre Dame HS) was second on the team in three-pointers with 36 and he contributed 10.9 points per game, 3.6 rebounds per game, 24 assists, 22 steals, and 6 blocked shots in his final season with the Greyhounds.
Leading the offense with a team high 113 assists is senior Lucas Malishchak (Wanamie, PA/Nanticoke HS) to go along with 75 points, 57 rebounds, 52 steals, and three blocks. Sophomore Steve Wenderfer (Chester, NJ/Mendham HS) was second on the team in rebounding with 5.1 rebounds per game. He also added 7.1 points per game, 22 steals, ten assists, and six blocked shots. Classmate Zach Zsilavecz (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) averaged 6.9 points and 3.2 rebounds per game and contributed 19 steals, 14 assists, and five blocked shots.
Junior Mike Howell (Floral Park, NY/Holy Cross HS) added 5.4 points per game, 49 boards, 19 assists, 11 steals, and eight blocked shots, while sophomore Ed Reid (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl HS) contributed 4.7 points per game, 48 rebounds, 21 assists, 14 steals, and 13 blocked shots. Sophomore Chris Betley (Lenape, NJ/Lenape HS) added 71 points, 34 rebounds, 21 assists, and nine steals for the Greyhounds.
Senior Kevin Burke (Turnersville, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) tossed in 30 points to go along with 45 assists, 29 rebounds, and seven steals in his final season with the Greyhounds. Junior Andy Fisher (Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Horsham HS) contributed eight points, 21 assists, 15 rebounds, two steals, and one block. Sophomore Adam Kaucher (Kintersville, PA/Palisades HS) has added seven points, nine rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocked shots.
Sophomore Tyler Tripuka (Glen Ridge, NJ/Glen Ridge HS) had three points and two rebounds, while freshman Matt Devlin (Sadsburyville, PA/Coatsville HS) contributed 16 points, seven rebounds, and one steal in his debut season at Moravian College.
