The 1998-1999 Greyhounds, under the direction of head coach Jim Walker for the 19th season, finished with a 10-14 overall mark and a 4-10 slate in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League. The Greyhounds did win their fourth straight championship in the Greyhound Reebok Classic in January.
Leading the team this season was senior Jason Moran (Scranton/West Scranton HS). He lead the team both scoring and rebounding with 16.1 points per game and 8.3 rebounds points game. He also had a team high 33 blocked shots. Moran was named to the MAC Commonwealth League First Team, the Columbus Multimedia Middle Atlantic Honorable Mention All-Region Team and the Most Valuable Player of the Greyhound Reebok Classic for the fourth consecutive year. He finished his career fourth on the all-time leading scoring list with 1,469 points and is third in rebounding with 764.
Senior Matt Getter (Broomall/Marple Newtown HS) was the teams second leading scorer with 14.5 points per night. Getter broke the school record of most three-pointers by completing his career with 143. He also broke his own school record for a season with 71 three-pointers this winter. Getter also set the school record of 3-point field goals made in a single game by connecting on 9 of 16 attempts at Elizabethtown College. Getter finished the game with a career high of 36 points. He was also named to the MAC Executive Directors All-Academic team.
Sophomore Dave Jordan (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant HS) started 17 games while scoring 8.0 points per game this season. His season high was 17 points against Messiah. Jordan was also named to the Greyhound Reebok Classic All-Tournament team.
Junior point guard Rich Whalen (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick HS) netted 5.9 points a contest and lead the team in assists with 85. Whalen was named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll
Classmate Jim ORourke (Park Ridge NJ/Park Ridge HS) stepped up this season scoring 69 points and grabbing 61 rebounds. He started seven games late in the season and scored a career high of 14 points against Wilkes. He also was named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll.
Senior Russ Lowe (Reading/Antietam HS) contributed 6.6 points a contest and grabbed 3.5 rebounds a night.
Senior Scott Reslow (East Greenwich, RI/East Greenwich HS) saw action this season despite missing four games with a fractured hand. Reslow finished the season with 58 points and 52 rebounds.
Junior Justin Potts (Sparta, NJ/Sparta HS) saw action in all 24 games at the backup point guard position. He had 13 points and 22 assists.
Sophomores Curt DeFillippo (Toms River, NJ/Point Pleasant HS) and Chris Hayn (Whitehall/Whitehall HS) combined for 79 points and 46 rebounds.
Junior Pete Bilinsky (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic HS), freshman Doug Spadt (Emmaus/Emmaus HS), and freshman Bruce DeLauder (Reading/Reading Central Catholic HS) all saw limited time this season. They finished for a combined total of 18 points.
Moravian opened the 1998-99 season at the Johns Hopkins Blue Jay Classic in Baltimore, Maryland, with a 1-1 record.
