Moravian College junior Matthew Lutcza competed for the first time in the NCAA Division III National Championship Meet hosted by Wartburg College Saturday on the Max Cross Country Course.
Lutcza placed 209th of 279 runners in the 8,000-meter men’s race with a time of 26:13.3.
Anders Hulleberg of Haverford College won the individual title with a time of 24:22.2, and the Fords of Haverford captured the national championship with a team score of 87 points. Moravian did not score in the meet with Lutcza as the team's only entrant.

The Moravian College men’s cross country team placed 16th in the 2010 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional hosted by Carnegie Mellon University at Cooper’s Lake Campground outside of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, Saturday to close out the 2010 season. The Greyhounds were 16th of 47 teams with a team score of 484 points. Haverford College captured the men’s race with 23 points.
Individually for the Moravian men, junior Matthew Lutcza, pictured at right, earned All-Region honors with a 21st place finish of 316 runners on the 8,000-meter course with a career best time of 25:51.3, the third fastest time in school history. Lutcza also qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships being hosted Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa on November 20th.
Sophomore Donnie Noble was 56th in a time of 26:41.9 while sophomore Jake Donchez finished 107th in 27:37.9. Junior Zach Rivenbark placed 109th for the Greyhounds in 27:39.1 while senior Jesse Miller rounded out the Moravian top five in 203rd place in 29:28.5.
Also competing for the Greyhounds were senior Jacob Tazik in 212th in a time of 29:43.4 and sophomore Alex Macri, who was 283rd in 32:32.8.
At 2010 Landmark Conference Championships hosted by Goucher College - 3rd of 8 - Moravian

Junior Matthew Lutcza, pictured at right, placed first at the 2010 Landmark Conference Men’s Cross Country Championships hosted by Goucher College Saturday to earn Runner of the Year honors and help the Greyhounds to a third place team finish of eight schools.
The Greyhounds scored 70 points, nine behind runner-up Juniata College. Susquehanna University won the team title with 38 points.
Lutcza covered the 8,000-meter course in 26:46.4 to lead the 87-runner field and earn Landmark All-Conference First Team Honors. Sophomore Donnie Noble was named to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team after placing ninth in 27:45.1 while sophomore Jake Donchez just missed all-conference honors by four seconds after finishing 15th in a time of 28:14.8. Rounding out the Greyhounds’ top five were junior Zach Rivenbark in 21st place at 28:39.3 and senior Jacob Tazik, who finished 25th in a time of 28:52.9.
Moravian had four other runners in the race with sophomore Dylan Marton finishing 28th in 29:04.3, sophomore Alex Macri taking 31st in 29:11.2, senior Jesse Miller placing 39th in 29:29.7 and freshman Fernando Cifuentes finishing 69th in a time of 31:20.7.
At Leopard Invitational hosted by Lafayette College - 5th of 9 - Moravian

The Moravian College men’s cross country team placed fifth of nine schools at the Leopard Invitational hosted by Lafayette College. The Greyhounds had a team score of 164 while American University won the meet with 15 points. Of the nine schools in the meet, five were NCAA Division I institutions.
Moravian junior Matt Lutcza, pictured at right, paced the team, finishing 17th of 110 runners in a time of 26:44.40 on the 8,000-meter course. Sophomore Donnie Noble was 34th overall in 27:16.10 while junior Zach Rivenbark was 52nd with a time of 27:42.00. Rounding out the Greyhounds’ top five runners were sophomore Jake Donchez in 66th place at 28:13.80 and sophomore Alex Macri taking 70th position in a time of 28:24.90.
Senior Jacob Tazik placed 84th in 28:45.80 while sophomore sophomore Dylan Marton was 94th in 29:18.80. Senior Jesse Miller completed the course in a time of 29:43.40 to finish 102nd while freshman Fernando Cifuentes was three spots back in 30:08.00. Sophomore Patrick Steinemann rounded out the Moravian runners with a time of 30:24.50 in 108th.
At DeSales University Invitational - 4th of 24 - Moravian

The Moravian College men’s cross country team finished fourth of 24 teams with a score of 132 points, just two points behind the host Bulldogs. NCAA Division II Kutztown University won the meet with 92 points.
Moravian junior Matt Lutcza paced the team, finishing fifth of 277 runners in a time of 26:54.09 on the 8,000-meter course. Sophomore Donnie Noble was 25th overall in 27:58.52 while sophomore Jake Donchez, pictured at right, placed 30th in a time of 28:04.56. Rounding out the Greyhounds’ top five runners were sophomore Dylan Marton in 37th place at 28:12.69 and junior Zach Rivenbark one spot back in 38th in a time of 28:14.66.
Senior Jacob Tazik placed 78th in 29:06.62 while sophomore Patrick Steinemann was 123rd in 30:22.04. Senior Jesse Miller completed the course in 30:42.08 to finish 133rd while freshman Fernando Cifuentes placed 155th in 31:19.76. Junior Jonathan Gutierrez was 244th overall in a time of 35:50.05.
At 37th Annual Brooks Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University - 29th of 40 Brown - Moravian

The Moravian College men’s cross country team finished 29th of 40 teams in the Brown race at the 37th Annual Brooks Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University. The Greyhounds had a team score of 718 while Princeton University won the race with 36 points. The University of Virginia won the Gold race while Rowan University won the White race as 117 teams and 1,037 runners competed in the three 8,000-meter races.
Individually for the Greyhound men, junior Matthew Lutcza was 50th of 357 runners in the Brown race with a time of 26:21. Sophomore Donnie Noble was 121st in 27:03 while sophomore Dylan Marton, pictured at right, finished 188th in 27:36. Sophomore Jake Donchez was 198th in 27:40 for the Greyhounds while junior Zach Rivenbark placed 231st in a time of 28:01. Rounding out the Moravian competitors were senior Jack Tazik in 293rd in a time of 28:45 and senior Jesse Miller in 340th at 30:08.
At 2010 Dickinson College Long-Short Invitational - 6th fo 24 on Long Course - Moravian

The Moravian College men’s cross country team placed sixth on the long course at the 2010 Dickinson College Long-Short Invitational Saturday. The Moravian men had a three-man score of 82 points to finish sixth of 24 teams while New York University was first at 14 points. The meet consisted of an 8,100-meter course and a 4,000-meter course for the men. The Greyhounds did not have any runners in the 4,000-meter race, so Moravian did not place in the combined scores, which was won by Lock Haven University at 28 points.
Individually for the Greyhound men, junior Matthew Lutcza was 12th of 182 runners on the 8,100-meter course in a time of 27:03. Sophomore Donnie Noble, pictured at right, was 37th in 27:48 while sophomore Dylan Marton finished 39th in 27:51 to finish out Moravian’s scorers. Junior Zach Rivenbark placed 56th in a time of 28:05 for the Greyhounds while sophomore Jake Donchez was 60th in 28:13. Rounding out the Moravian competitors were senior Jack Tazik in 113th in a time of 29:53, senior Jesse Miller in 126th at 30:13 and sophomore Alex Macri is 134th at 30:27.
At 2010 Lehigh University Invitational - 7th of 8 - Moravian

The Moravian College men's cross country team began the 2010 season with a
seventh place finish at the 2010 Lehigh University Invitational hosted on
the Goodman Campus of Lehigh University. The Greyhounds had a team score
of 167 points while the host Mountain Hawks won the meet with a score
of 25 points.
Junior Matthew Lutcza, pictured at right, led Moravian with a time of 19:32.9 on the 6,000-meter course that placed him 15th of 98 runners in the
race. Sophomore Dylan Marton was 30th overall in a time of 19:52.5 while sophomore Donnie Noble finished 39th in 20:07.0. Rounding out the Greyhounds' top five were sophomore Jake Donchez in 61st place in a time of 20:48.2 and sophomore Alex Macri at 71st in 20:59.6.
Senior Jacob Tazik took 79th with a time of 21:18.3 while senior Jesse Miller, who was 89th in 21:59.0, sophomore Patrick Steinemann, who placed 91st in 22:26.6, and junior Jonathan Gutierrez, who was 98th at 24:08.6, rounded out the Moravian runners.
