Moravian closed out its 2005 season with a 4-0 loss to nationally-ranked
Messiah College in Commonwealth Conference action at Betty Prince Field.
The Falcons, ranked third in this week’s Styx/NFHCA Top 20 poll,
took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute. Messiah would extend the lead to
2-0 in the 21st minute. Both goals were scored on penalty corners. Messiah
extended its lead to 3-0 in the 32nd minute. The Falcons scored the
only one of the second half in the 50th minute. The Falcons had a 26-6
advantage in shots and a 15-4 edge in penalty corners in the match.
Moravian junior goalie Amanda Gaun. Sophomore midfielder Mauri Dallago
had one defensive save for the Greyhounds. Moravian has completed the
2005 season with today’s match, and the Greyhounds posted a 5-13
overall record.

Moravian nearly upset the #13th ranked team in the nation as Lebanon
Valley College rallied from a 2-0 deficit with three goals in a nine
minute span late in the second half for a 3-2 win over the Greyhounds
at Betty Prince Field. Moravian took a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute when
senior forward Stacee Cupples scored an unassisted goal off of a rebound.
The goal was Cupples 11th of the season and the 30th of her career.
Cupples is just the third player in school history to score 30 or more
goals in a career. The Greyhounds would have a goal waved off in the
25th minute on a third-man penalty during a Moravian penalty corner.
Moravian also had a shot hit the post and bound out-of-bounds in the
first half. Cupples was awarded a penalty stroke with 5:45 remaining
in the first half after having her stick pulled away on a breakaway.
Cupples converted on a shot to the upper right corner of the goal for
a 2-0 Greyhound lead. The goal gave Cupples 83 points for her career,
passing Tanya Thear for second in school history. The nationally-ranked
Flying Dutchmen wouldn't get on the board until the 52nd minute; however,
Lebanon Valley would score three times in 9:07 for the victory with
two of the goals coming on penalty corners. Lebanon Valley had a 19-7
advantage in shots and a 21-2 edge in penalty corners. The Flying Dutchmen
out shot the Greyhounds 14-1 in the second half and had 15 penalty corners
to none for Moravian after the intermission. Junior goalie Amanda Gaun
made seven saves for the Greyhounds. Senior defender Jill Brinckman
and junior defender Kim Gialanella each made defensive saves for the
Greyhounds. This was the second straight match in which Moravian saw
a two-goal first half lead disappear.

to Albright College, 3-2 in overtime, in Commonwealth Conference action.
The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute when senior
forward Stacee Cupples scored an unassisted goal on a penalty corner.
Cupples would give Moravian a 2-0 lead in the 13th minute with another
unassisted goal, her tenth goal of the season and 29th of her career
moving Cupples into a tie for third all-time in career goals at Moravian.
The Lions would get one goal back before halftime with a tally in the
20th minute. Albright tied the match at the 56 minute mark and won the
contest 3:41 into the overtime session. Moravian had a 15-13 advantage
in shots while the Lions held a 10-9 edge in penalty corners. Greyhound
junior goalie Amanda Gaun made five saves including two in overtime.

of the season, falling to Widener University, 5-2, in conference action
at Betty Prince Field. The Pioneers jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals
in the third and sixth minutes. Moravian would cut the lead in half
in the 19th minute when freshman forward Nicole Maugle scored her third
goal of the season off a pass from sophomore forward Jayme Baker on
a penalty corner. Widener would score twice more in the final five minutes

at Betty Prince Field behind a pair of goals by sophomore forward Jayme
Baker. Freshman forward Nicole Maugle opened the scoring for Moravian
with her second goal of the season off an assist by senior forward Stacee
Cupples. The assist was Cupples' school-record 20th of her career. Baker
added goals in the 30th and 62nd minutes, her fifth and sixth goals
of the season, to help Moravian build a 3-0 lead. Sophomore forward
Savannah Bayer assisted on the second of Baker's goals. Scranton scored
in the 68th minute. Cupples tallied her team-leading eight goal of the
season and the 27th of her career with no time on the clock off a pass
by junior forward Jennifer Gassner as the Greyhounds finished out a
penalty corner. Moravian had a 23-15 advantage in shots and a 13-8 edge
on penalty corners. Greyhound junior goalie Amanda Gaun had eight saves

her fourth goal of the season. Philadelphia Biblical scored twice more

but would tie the match right back at 1-1 in the ninth minute on the

on the season, took another one-goal lead in the 14th minute but the
Greyhounds answered again in the 16th minute to tie the contest at 2-2.

the season, of a shot by Cupples. The Monarchs edged ahead 3-2 in the
49th minute. Moravian would tie the contest for a third time just 30

of the season off another Cupples pass. King's would take the lead for
good in the 51st minute and add the final goal in the 61st minute. The

game. The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Moravian. The Greyhounds
notched the lone goal of the first half as sophomore forward Savannah
Bayer connected off an assist from junior forward Elyse Jurgen for Bayer's
third goal of the season. Moravian then scored the first three goals
of the second stanza to up the lead to 4-0. Senior forward Stacee Cupples
found the cage just less than seven minutes into the half for her third
goal of the year off an assist from junior forward Jen Gassner. Jurgen
followed with her first goal of the season off a feed from sophomore
