For the second straight season, Moravian had its season ended in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Semifinals as the third-seeded Greyhounds were shutout by second seed Penn State University at Altoona, 1-0. Top seed College Misericordia won the day’s other match, defeating fourth seeded Lebanon Valley College, 2-1. PSU-Altoona scored the contest's only goal with an unassisted tally with just five minutes remaining in the match. Moravian had a 9-6 advantage in shots with Greyhound junior keeper Vinny Nasuta making three saves in goal.

Vs. Widener University in ECAC Mid-Atlantic First Round – Won 3-2 (overtime)

Sophomore midfielder Daniel Samuelsson drove home a penalty kick into the lower left-hand corner of the net 2:43 into overtime to lift third-seeded Moravian to a 3-2 victory over sixth seed Widener University in the first round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Championships. Greyhound sophomore forward Ryan Fick drew the penalty kick as he drove down the center of the field early in the extra session and was fouled just outside the six-yard box. Widener jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first half as freshman midfielder Anthony Gambone rifled home a rebound from 14 yards out after a corner kick 6:05 into the game. Fick would give the Greyhounds the equalizer in the 32nd minute when found the back of the net off a ball headed to him by junior midfielder Tim Shannon. Senior forward Wilson Gonzalez started the scoring play by driving his corner kick into the center of the box. Moravian, which won the regular season match with Widener but the exact same 3-2 overtime score, would take a 2-1 lead just 15 seconds into the second half. Fick started the half with a kick from midfield to the feet of sophomore midfielder Nick Tarquinio who immediately crossed the ball to junior midfielder Anthony Merz for the goal. The Pioneers came back to tie the match in the 63rd minute when freshman forward Ryan Sullivan scored from close range. Widener held a 13-12 advantage in shots in the contest but Moravian senior goalie Ryan Sculley made seven saves for the victory. Pioneer freshman goalie Mike Huminski had four saves in the contest. Moravian will travel to College Misericordia on Saturday, November 16th for a 3:30 p.m. semifinal match with second seeded Penn State University-Altoona. The other two teams are host College Misericordia and fourth seeded Lebanon Valley College.

At Messiah College in Commonwealth Semifinals – Lost 6-0

The fourth-seeded Greyhounds had their five-match winning streak snapped with a 6-0 loss to second-seeded Messiah College in the 2002 Commonwealth Conference Championship match. Moravian was making its first appearance in the conference title contest since 1991. The Falcons scored three goals in each half with Matt Bills and Seth Lehman each tallying two goals. Moravian senior goalie Ryan Sculley made eight saves in the contest as the Greyhounds were out shot 15-6. Moravian will find out on Monday, November 11th if the squad has made the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championship Tournament for the second straight year.

At Elizabethtown College in Commonwealth Semifinals – Won 2-0

Moravian won its fifth straight match and the fourth seeded Greyhounds shocked top-seed Elizabethtown College with a 2-0 victory in the Commonwealth Conference Semifinals. Moravian now moves into the Commonwealth Conference Championship match on Saturday, November 9th at second-seeded and defending Commonwealth Champion Messiah College for a chance to earn a berth in the upcoming NCAA Division III Tournament. The Greyhounds broke a scoreless tie with the Blue Jays in the 60th minute as sophomore forward Ryan Fick found the back of the net off a pass from sophomore midfielder Daniel Samuelsson. Senior Wilson Gonzalez added an insurance tally in the 74th minute when he put home a pass from junior defender Matt Sprague. Senior goalie Ryan Sculley made six saves for his second shutout of the season as Moravian was out shot 14-10 in the contest. The start of the match was delayed nearly an hour as the Greyhounds and the officials were caught in traffic when a local interstate was closed due to an accident.

At Widener University – Won 3-2 (overtime)

The Greyhounds clinched their third straight appearance in the Commonwealth Conference playoffs with a 3-2 overtime victory at Widener University in the squad's regular season finale. Moravian trailed 2-0 before getting on the scoreboard in the 77th minute on a direct kick by sophomore midfielder Jim Feimster. The Greyhounds forced the overtime session with four minutes left in regulation on a goal by junior midfielder Tim Shannon that was set up by junior midfielder Mike Grillo. Sophomore midfielder Daniel Samuelsson scored the game-winning goal in the 98th minute off a pass from sophomore midfielder Nick Tarquinio. Moravian senior goalie Ryan Sculley made two saves for the victory as the Greyhounds held a 15-7 advantage in shots in the contest. Moravian will compete in the 2002 Commonwealth Conference Semifinals at Elizabethtown College on Wednesday, November 6th at a time still to be determined.

Vs. DeSales University – Won 6-1

Moravian scored four first half goals on its way to a 6-1 victory over DeSales University in non-conference action. The Greyhounds, who have won their last three matches and have a chance to clinch a third straight playoff appearance in their next contest, took control of the game with three goals in 1:52 of the first half. Sophomore midfielder Jonathan Thomas opened the scoring at 13:04 with a goal off a centering pass from sophomore forward Ryan Fick. Sophomore midfielder Daniel Samuelsson settled the ball to Thomas' feet for the blast past the DeSales goalie. Sophomore midfielder Nick Tarquinio scored 1:10 later off a centering pass by Fick after junior defender Matt Sprague drove down the middle of the field and passed to Fick in the corner. Samuelsson would find the back of the net just 42 seconds later off a centering pass from Sprague. Junior midfielder Tim Shannon set up the scoring chance by driving pass the DeSales defenders in the middle of the field. The Greyhounds final first half goal was scored by freshman midfielder Casey Hoffman in the 39th minute off a crossing pass by Shannon. Moravian scored its final two goals in the match in a span of 1:10 in the second half. Sophomore midfielder Jim Feimster drove home a rebound of a Tarquinio shot at 51:37 and Sprague scored on a penalty kick at 52:47. The Bulldogs' lone goal was scored by Josh Prugar with 45 seconds left in the match. Moravian senior goalie Ryan Sculley made three saves while playing the first half of the match for the Greyhounds. Freshman keeper Ryan Walker had six saves in the second half.

Junior midfielder Tim Shannon scored a pair on unanswered goals to lift the Greyhounds to a 2-1 victory over the University of Scranton in non-conference action. With Moravian trailing 1-0, Shannon ran a perfect give-and-go with sophomore midfielder Jonathan Thomas at the top of the 18-yard box before blasting a shot into the back of the net in the 30th minute. Shannon's game-winning goal came in the 54th minute off a pass from sophomore midfielder Jim Feimster. Moravian had a 22-17 advantage in shots in the match and Greyhound senior keeper Ryan Sculley made nine saves in the victory.

Vs. Wilkes University – Won 4-2

Sophomore forward Ryan Fick scored a pair of goals and added an assist and sophomore midfielder Daniel Samuelsson netted two goals as Moravian snapped a two-match losing streak with a 4-2 victory over Wilkes University in non-conference action. Wilkes scored first in the 16th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Greyhounds, who get back to .500 on the season with the victory at 7-7-2, tied the match on Fick's first goal that was set-up by sophomore midfielder Jim Feimster. Moravian took the lead in the 74th minutes on Fick’s second goal, which was setup by junior forward Anthony Merz. Wilkes tied the contest with a goal in the 83rd minute. The Greyhounds won the match with a pair of goals in the final six minutes of the contest. Samuelsson scored his first goal off a pass from sophomore defender Nick Tarquinio for the winning goal with five and a half minutes left in the match. Samuelsson found the back of the net again 40 seconds later off a Fick pass. Moravian senior goalie Ryan Sculley made 13 saves in the victory.

Moravian had just eight shots in the match while the Eagles fired 15 shots and scored three goals in the final eight minutes of the contest. Eastern's Chris Hammacher had a hat trick in the match. Senior goalie Ryan Sculley made two saves while playing the first half of the match for the Greyhounds. Junior Vinny Nasuta had one stop in the second half.

Moravian played with a man advantage for the final 78 minutes of the match due to the ejection of a Blue Jay player and the squad had a penalty kick just three minutes into the match but Moravian was unable to find the back of the net. Senior goalie Ryan Sculley made five saves while playing the first half of the match for the Greyhounds. Junior Vinny Nasuta had four saves in the second half.

Feimster headed home a pass from junior midfielder Mike Grillo. The Diplomats actually had the advantage in shots in the contest, 13-11. The Greyhounds used a pair of goalies in the shutout as senior Ryan Sculley made two saves in the first half while junior Vinny Nasuta had four saves in the second half.

The Greyhounds tied the match with just 47 seconds left in regulation only to fall to Rutgers University at Camden, 2-1, in overtime of a non-conference match. Moravian knotted the score in the 90th minute on a penalty kick by sophomore midfielder Daniel Samuelsson with the Greyhounds already playing down one man. Just 1:08 into the overtime session, Moravian had a second player receive a red card and Rutgers-Camden scored the winning goal four minutes later. Moravian had a 12-9 advantage in shots in the match with senior goalie Ryan Sculley making three saves in 74 minutes of action and junior keeper Vinny Nasuta having one save in 20 minutes of action.

Moravian improves to 4-4-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the Commonwealth Conference by defeating the Flying Dutchmen, who were ranked eighth this week in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll. Junior defender Ken Macauley scored off a pass from sophomore midfielder Jim Feimster in the 77th minute to give the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead. Sophomore midfielder Daniel Samuelsson cored Moravian second goal with just over eight minutes remaining in the second half off an assist junior midfielder Mike Grillo. Moravian took a 1-0 lead in the first half as sophomore forward Ryan Fick scored on a diving header off a pass from sophomore midfielder Daniel Samuelsson in the 20th minute. The Greyhounds out shot the Eagles, 32-11 in the match and had a 12-3 advantage in corner kicks but Wolfe's unassisted goals in the 82nd minute and 88th minute provided the difference in the score. The Greyhounds would make the score 2-0 before halftime on a tally by junior midfielder Tim Shannon that was assisted by sophomore midfielders Jonathan Thomas and Daniel Samuelsson. Moravian won the championship of the 2002 Kwik Goal/T.G.I. Friday's Classic at Muhlenberg College by defeating the host Mules, 2-1. After a scoreless first half, the Greyhounds got on the board first as senior forward Wilson Gonzalez tapped in a cross from sophomore defender Nick Tarquinio off a direct kick by sophomore midfielder Daniel Samuelsson in the 64th minute. The Mules countered with a goal in the 70th minute to tie the match. Moravian got the winning goal in the 74th minute as sophomore defender Jim Feimster scored on a direct kick. The goal was the second of Feimster's career and his second game-winner of the tournament. Feimster was named the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament. Greyhound senior goalie Ryan Sculley made one save in the match. Moravian takes a 1-0 lead in the annual Matte Award standings between the two schools.

Moravian got on the board in the 15th minute as junior forward Anthony Merz knocked home a pass from sophomore forward Ryan Fick. Sophomore defender Jim Feimster gave the Greyhounds their 2-0 lead in the 37th minute on an unassisted goal, the first of his career. Fick pushed the Moravian lead to 3-0 in the 65th minute when he scored off a pass from junior midfielder Tim Shannon. Junior goalie Vinny Nasuta made five saves for his first victory of the season.

Vs. Drew University at Drew University Fall Festival – Lost 2-1 (ot)

The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead over nationally-ranked Drew University but couldn't hold the lead as the Rangers, ranked 25th in the nation in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas preseason poll, scored a late goal in regulation and another late in overtime to pull off a 2-1 overtime victory over Moravian on the first day of the Drew University Fall Festival. The Greyhounds struck early in the first half on a goal by sophomore defender Nick Tarquinio on a breakaway. Moravian held the lead until it went down a man in the final nine minutes of regulation. Drew's game winning goal came with just five seconds left in the first overtime. Moravian senior keeper Ryan Sculley made three saves in the match while Drew's Peter Boyer have two stops.
