2003 Review

The Greyhounds completed the 2003 season with a 4-12-3 record with a 3-2-2 record in the conference as the squad made its fourth straight trip to the Commonwealth Conference Playoffs The Greyhounds, under the direction of fifth-year head coach Eric Lambinus had two players named to the Commonwealth Conference All-Conference Team.

Senior Tim Shannon (Leesport, PA/Schuylkill Valley HS) was named to the 2002 Commonwealth All-Conference First Team. He had one goal and three assists for five points. Junior Jim Feimster (Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mountain HS) was named to the Commonwealth All-Conference Second Team. He had two goals and six assists for ten points this season.

Freshman Neil Unternahrer (East Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mountain HS) led the team in scoring with six goals while also contributing one assist for a total of 13 points. Senior Anthony Merz (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan HS) and junior Ryan Fick (Hamburg, PA/Fleetwood HS) both added three goals and one assist for seven points. Senior Mike Grillo (Pennington, NJ/Pennington School) had two goals and two assists for six points.

Freshman Josh Sheetz (Kutztown, PA/Kutztown HS), sophomore Ryan Hintenach (Milford, NJ/Delaware Valley Regional HS), junior Jonathan Thomas (Port Carbon, PA/Nativity B.V.M. HS), and senior Ken Macaulay (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge HS) each contributed one assist.

Seniors Matt Sprague (Souderton, PA/Souderton HS) and Macaulay, along with junior Ryan Wilkins (Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Hosham HS) led the Hounds on defensive. Also contributing were sophomores Casey Hoffman (Kempton, PA/Northwestern Lehigh HS) and George Gray (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley HS), and freshmen Peter Cunha (Milford, NJ/Immaculata HS) and Ken Wilson (Pittsgrove, NJ/Schalick HS).

Senior Vinny Nasuta (Marlton, NJ/Rancocas Valley HS) played 1,324 minutes with a 1.70 GAA, 83 saves, a 3-9-2 record and 3 shutouts in goal. Sophomore Ryan Walker (Metuchen, NJ/Metuchen HS) saw 155 minutes of action with a 0.00 GAA, 8 saves, a 1-0-1 record and one shutout. Freshman Kyle Keller (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh HS) played 200 minutes with a 2.70 GAA, 9 saves, and a 0-2 record. Sophomore Ian Andrew Nuno (Middletown, DE/Caravel Academy) saw 90 minutes with a 3.00 GAA, 4 saves, and a 0-1 record.

Moravian had five student-athletes honored on the 2003 Middle Atlantic Corporation Fall All-Academic Team including Wilkins, Hoffman, Nuno, Gray and Walker.

Coach Lambinus expects to have 17 players return next season and the team looks to earn a fifth straight playoff appearance and challenge for their first NCAA Division III Tournament berth since 1982.
