The mens soccer team completed the 1998 season with an 8-10-1 overall record and a 5-2-0 slate in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League. Greyhounds continued last years 3-2-1 winning status in overtime games with a 1-0-1 record for the 1998 season.
Sophomore Van Pham (Reading/Reading HS) led the squad in scoring with twelve goals which doubled his scoring total of six goals last year. Senior Nick DAndrea (Bensalem/Holy Ghost Prep) and freshman Paul Melniczek (Philadelphia/Roman Catholic HS) finished the season with seven goals each. Forward Matt Kling (Chatham, NJ/Oratory Prep) put in six goals for the Greyhounds.
Other goal scorers this fall were freshman Evan Weller (Sinking Spring/Wilson West Lawn HS) and sophomores Billy Boltz (Rehrersburg/Tulpehochen HS) and Rich Tate (Warrington/LaSalle College HS) with two goals apiece. Junior Jim Bonder (Williamstown, NJ/ Moorestown HS) and freshmen Scott Heydt (Boyertown/Boyertown HS) and Nick Jordal (Doylestown/LaSalle College HS) each netted one goal.
Adding two assists for the season was senior forward Cory Kinley (Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen HS). Sophomore Andrew Grezlak (Doylestown/Central Bucks East HS) and junior Alex Pierce (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township HS) each added one assist for the Hounds.
Junior goalie Ryan Shick (Jamison/Central Bucks East HS) finished the season with a 2.22 goals-against average and three shutouts. Shick made 98 saves during the season.
Helping the defense was senior captain Alex Jenski (North Haledon, NJ/Don Bosco Prep), along with senior Kris Silver (Quakertown/Quakertown HS), and sophomore Kevin Byrne (Spring Lake, NJ/Manasquan HS). Bryne had three helpers while Jenski had two assists.
