At Juniata College – Lost 5-2

Sophomore midfielder Paul Melniczek and junior defender Kevin Byrne each scored goals but it wasn’t enough as the Greyhounds lost to Juniata College, 5-2 in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. Sophomore defender Scott Heydt had an assist while senior goalie Ryan Shick had three saves in 67 minutes. Freshman Ryan Sculley made two saves in 23 minutes in goal. Moravian closes out the 1999 season with a 7-11-1 record.

Vs. Elizabethtown College – Lost 1-0

Senior goalie Ryan Shick, playing in the final home match of his career, made 12 saves and limited the fourth ranked team in the nation, Elizabethtown College to one goal, but the Greyhounds couldn’t score in a tough 1-0 loss to the Blue Jays in MAC Commonwealth Conference action.

At Messiah College – Lost 3-0

The Greyhounds dropped a 3-0 decision to Messiah College, the 12th ranked team in the nation, in MAC Commonwealth Conference. Moravian managed just four shots on goal in the match. Senior goalie Ryan Shick made nine saves in the loss.

At Alvernia College – Won 3-2 (2 OT)

Sophomore midfielder Paul Melniczek scored a pair of goals, including the game winner in the second overtime, and added an assist in the 3-2 victory at Alvernia. Junior midfielder Billy Boltz scored Moravian's other goal and senior midfielder Alex Pierce added an assist. Freshman goalie Ryan Sculley made three saves for his first collegiate victory.

Vs. Albright College – Won 3-2

Junior forward Matt Kling scored in the 78th minute to lift the Greyhounds to a 3-2 victory over Albright College in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. Kling’s goal, off a pass from freshman forward Brian Mack, gave Moravian a 3-1 lead with 12 minutes left in the match. Mack and sophomore midfielder Paul Melniczek each netted goals in the matches first 12 minutes. Sophomore defender Scott Heydt and freshman midfielder Wilson Gonzalez each had assists in the match. Senior goalie Ryan Shick made three stops in goal for the win.

Vs. Wilkes University – Lost 4-1

Sophomore midfielder Paul Melniczek scored a first half a goal and freshman goalie Ryan Sculley made nine saves in his first career start but it wasn’t enough as the Greyhounds fell to Wilkes University, 4-1, in Middle Atlantic Conference action.

At Drew University – Lost 4-0

The Greyhounds dropped a 4-0 contest to Drew University in Middle Atlantic Conference action. Senior goalie Ryan Shick had five saves in the match.

Vs. Lebanon Valley College – Lost 1-0

The Greyhounds dropped to 1-0 decision to Lebanon Valley College in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. Senior goalie Ryan Shick had three saves in the match.

At Allentown College – Lost 2-1

Sophomore midfielder Paul Melniczek scored in the second half off a pass from sophomore defender Scott Heydt to tie the match but the Greyhounds couldn’t pull out the victory as they fell to Allentown College, 2-1. Senior goalie Ryan Shick made seven saves in the loss.

At Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania – Lost 6-3

Senior midfielder Alex Pierce, junior midfielder Billy Boltz and freshman forward Brian Mack each scored goals but it wasn’t enough as the Greyhounds fell to NCAA Division II Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, 6-3. Sophomore Evan Weller had a pair of assists in the match while senior goalie Ryan Shick made seven saves in goal.

At Susquehanna University – Won 2-1

Freshman midfielder David Kurvink scored off a pass from sophomore midfielder Evan Weller with six minutes remaining in the second half to lift the men’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Susquehanna University in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. Moravian, now 5-3-1 overall this season and 1-0-1 in the MAC Commonwealth Conference, jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute on a goal by junior midfielder Rich Tate off a feed from junior forward Van Pham. Greyhound senior goalie Ryan Shick made seven saves in the victory.

Vs. Muhlenberg College - Lost 1-0

Muhlenberg College senior midfielder Johan Hohman lobbed a shot over Moravian College senior goalie Ryan Shick in the 60th minute to lift visiting Muhlenberg to a 1-0 victory over Moravian. Hohman took off on a breakaway past Moravian sweeper junior Andrew Grezlak the catch up to a pass from senior midfielder Shane Topping of Nazareth to score the lone goal in the contest. Shick made five saves in goal for Moravian, which lost for the first time in four matches, while senior Travis Wood had two saves for the Mules.

Vs. Widener University – Tie 3-3 (2 overtimes)

Senior midfielder Alex Pierce and junior defender Kevin Byrne each scored second half goals to help the Greyhounds come from behind and earn a tie with Widener University in the MAC Commonwealth Conference opener for Moravian. Junior midfielder Rich Tate tied the match in the first half with his first goal of the season while junior defender Andrew Grezlak had an assist. Senior goalie Ryan Shick made seven saves and held Widener scoreless over the final 73 minutes of the match to help the Greyhounds earn the tie.

Vs. Lycoming College – Won 1-0

Sophomore midfielder Paul Melniczek scored an unassisted goal with two and a half minutes remaining in the second half to lift the Greyhounds to a 1-0 victory over Lycoming College in a driving rain storm. Melniczek scored on a loose ball after Moravian’s fifth corner kick of the match. Senior goalie Ryan Shick made six saves to post his second straight shutout and third of the season.

Vs. Swarthmore College – Won 2-0

Junior Billy Boltz scored three minutes into the match and sophomore Paul Melniczek netted a goal with three minutes remaining to lift the Greyhounds to a 2-0 win over Swarthmore in the Haverford College Invitational. Juniors Van Pham and Kevin Byrne had assists in the match. Senior Ryan Shick made two saves for his second shutout of the season and the sixth of his career.

At Haverford College – Lost 4-0

In the opening game of the Haverford College Invitational, the Greyhounds fell to host Haverford College, 4-0. Senior goalie Ryan Shick made seven saves in 70 minutes while freshman goalie Ryan Sculley had two saves in 20 minutes of action.

Vs. Rutgers-Camden – Won 2-1

Junior Van Pham scored a pair of goals including the game-winner in the 71st minute off a crossing pass from freshman Dave Kurvink to lift the Greyhounds to their second straight victory.

Vs. Delaware Valley College – Won 2-0

Sophomore Paul Melniczek and junior Van Pham each netted first half goals to lift the Greyhounds to a 2-0 non-league victory. Sophomore Scott Heydt added an assist for the ‘Hounds. Senior goalie Ryan Shick made four saves for the fifth shutout of his career.

Vs. West Chester – Lost 4-1

The Greyhounds opened up the 1999 season with a tough loss to NCAA Division II West Chester University of Pennsylvania, 4-1. Senior Alex Pierce scored an unassisted goal for the Greyhounds. The loss spoiled the debut of new head coach Eric Lambinus.
