At The Catholic University of America Lost 5-1 - Box Score
The Moravian College men’s soccer team saw its 2009 season come to a close under first-year head coach Todd Ervin with a 5-1 loss at The Catholic University of America in Landmark Conference action Sunday afternoon.
The Cardinals, who are the third seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference Tournament, jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute when Adrian Davis finished off a crossing pass from Matt Hofrichter. Catholic extended its lead to 2-0 in the 64th minute on a goal by Michael DiMarco off of a Matt Brady pass, and Brady set of the first of two goals by Brian Pappas a minute later. Pappas would make the Cardinal lead 4-0 in the 66th minute off of a pass from Nick Sylvester.
Moravian senior forward Alexander Kulp, pictured, would get the Greyhounds on the board in the 81st minute with his first collegiate goal off of a scramble in front of the net. Catholic netted its final goal a minute later when Hal Cogan headed in a goal off of a pass from Brian Maher.
The Cardinals had a 14-8 advantage in shots and a 7-4 edge in corner kicks in the contest. Moravian junior goalie Tim Dollarton had two saves in the first 45 minutes of the match while junior keeper Bryant White contributed four saves in the second half for the Greyhounds. For Catholic, Quinn Daly made one save in 71 minutes of action while Thomas O’Leary had two saves in the final 19 minutes of the match.

The Crusaders netted the lone goal of the match in the 69th minute when Austin Gordon scored from the top of the box off of a pass from Andrew Cordell Carey.
Susquehanna had a 15-8 edge in shots and a 15-3 advantage in corner kicks in the contest. Moravian junior goalie Tim Dollarton, pictured, had four saves as did Crusader goalie Pat Horan.

The Moravian College men’s soccer team dropped a 4-0 Landmark Conference decision at The University of Scranton Tuesday evening.
The Royals didn’t score until the 77th minute, and Scranton then scored four times in just over seven minutes. Mike Drew opened the scoring with his fourth goal of the season off of an assist from Ray Straccia. Matthew Salvatore would give Scranton a 2-0 lead in the 78th minute off of a pass from Sebastian Akerman. Kevin Romanauskas scored his third goal of the year off of an assist Nick Glavan in the 83rd minute while Matt Bronczyk finished the scoring with his third goal of the season off of a Salvatore pass in the 84th minute.
Scranton had a 19-13 advantage in shots and the Royals had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks. Greyhound junior goalie Tim Dollarton, pictured, had five saves in 87 minutes of action while freshman goalie Mike Brand played the final three minutes without a save. The Moravian College men’s soccer team shut out Goucher College, 3-0, in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon in a match that was moved to Liberty High School due to field conditions on Moravian’s HUB Quad after the women’s match.
The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute when senior forward Kyle Jablon, pictured, scored his first goal of the season. Moravian would make its lead 2-0 in the 51st minute when sophomore defender Mike Dobbins netted her first goal of the year off of a pass from senior midfielder Michael Tarulli. Freshman midfielder/forward John Pavia finished off the scoring with an unassisted tally, his second of the season, in the 79th minute.
Moravian had an 11-8 advantage in shots while the Gophers had a 7-6 edge in corner kicks. Greyhound junior goalie Tim Dollarton had five saves for his third shutout of the season while senior keeper Justin Holbrook had five saves for Goucher.

The Mariners jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 2:08 into the match when Ryan Hadley scored off of an assist from Josh Reicks. USMMA extended its lead to 2-0 in the 17th minute when Lane Gould scored from 40-yards out. The Mariners made it 3-0 in the 31st minute when Jonathan Espinoza chipped in a pass from Clint Foster.
The Greyhounds got on the scoreboard in the 76th minute when sophomore forward Taylor Molinaro, pictured, scored his team leading fifth goal of the season.

The Scarlet Raptors would take a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute when freshman midfielder C.J. Finley put a shot into the upper right hand corner of the net. Rutgers-Camden added an insurance goal in the 82nd minute when junior forward Rhyan Nelson hit a spinning shot from the top of the box off of pass from senior defender Tom Collins.
Rutgers-Camden had a 26-5 advantage in shots including a 13-1 edge while playing into the wind in the first 45 minutes, and the Scarlet Knights had a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks. The Moravian College men’s soccer team earned its first Landmark Conference victory for new head coach Todd Ervin with a 4-2 win over Juniata College on the HUB Quad Saturday afternoon.
The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the tenth minute when senior midfielder Blake Ritchey scored his fourth goal of the season on a shot from outside the 18-yard box to the far side of the goal. Moravian extended its lead to 2-0 in the 30th minute when freshman midfielder/forward John Pavia, pictured at right, netted his first collegiate goal on a 25-yard shot. The Greyhounds pushed the lead to 3-0 in the 63rd minute when sophomore forward Taylor Molinaro took a breakaway pass from senior forward Kyle Jablon and netted his fourth goal of the year.
The Eagles answered two minutes later senior midfielder Andrew Steffen scored his fourth goal of the year on a pass from sophomore forward Evan LaTourrette. Juniata would pull within a goal in the 81st minute when senior defender Christopher Engle scored on a breakaway goal, his first of the season.
Moravian added an insurance goal in the 85th minute on the first goal of the season for senior midfielder Evan Outlaw, on a shot from 25 yards out.
Juniata had a 15-13 edge in shots and an 11-2 edge in corner kicks in the match. Moravian junior goalie Tim Dollarton had three saves while Eagle junior keeper Joe Kohler had five saves.

The Moravian College men’s soccer team dropped a 4-0 non-conference decision at Elizabethtown College Tuesday evening.
The Greyhounds, despite being out-shot 15-2 in the first 66 minutes, had the match scoreless until the 67th minute when Tony Pacella scored for the Blue Jays off of a free kick from Giovanni Correa. Elizabethtown, which scored on four of its final six shots, pushed its lead to 2-0 in the 79th minute on the first of two goals by Taylor Helsel, who scored off of a pass from Pacella. Helsel netted his second goal in the 82nd minute when he fired in a crossing pass from Ross Withrow, and Withrow finished the scoring with a goal in the 88th minute off of a through pass from Guilherme Sousa.
The Blue Jays finished the match with a 21-2 advantage in shots and an 8-1 edge in corner kicks. Moravian senior midfielder Michael Tarulli had both of the Greyhounds’ shots. Moravian junior goalie Tim Dollarton, pictured, made a career high nine saves in the match including stopping a penalty kick by Elizabethtown’s Cameron Gettel, who was three-for-three on penalty kicks on the season entering the match, just 1:47 into the second half to keep the match scoreless at the time. Blue Jay goalie Andy Barnes did not record a save in the contest.

The Moravian College men’s soccer team opened its 2009 Landmark Conference season with a 1-0 loss to Drew University on the HUB Quad Saturday afternoon.
The Rangers scored the only goal of the match in the 46th minute when Drew senior forward Greg Zizik dribbled down to the top of the 18-yard box and scored just 12 seconds into the second half. The goal was Zizik’s second of the season.
Drew had a 9-3 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in corner kicks. At King's College Won 2-0 - Box Score
Sophomore forward Taylor Molinaro, pictured, scored a pair of goals to lead the Moravian College men’s soccer team to its second shutout win of the season, defeating King’s College, 2-0, in a non-conference match Tuesday evening.
Molinaro netted his first goal of the match in the 14th minute to give the Greyhounds all of the offense they would need in the match. He added his other unassisted tally, Molinaro’s third goal of the season, in the 67th minute as insurance for Moravian.
The loss snapped a three-match winning streak for the Monarchs, who were kept off the scoreboard for the first time this season after scoring 18 goals in six matches. The loss was also the first at home for King’s since the 2007 season.
King’s did have an 8-6 edge in shots and a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks but Moravian junior goalie Tim Dollarton registered two saves for his second shutout in four matches since taking over the Greyhounds’ starting goalkeeper. King’s junior goalie Tim Kelly had three saves in the contest.

The Moravian College men’s soccer team jumped out to a 1-0 lead in a non-conference match at Lebanon Valley College, but the Greyhounds couldn’t hold the lead, eventually falling 3-1 Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore forward Taylor Molinaro, pictured, would give the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute when he took an entry pass from sophomore defender Mike Dobbins and put it in the net for his first goal of the season.
The Flying Dutchmen would tie the contest just two minutes later when Joseph Kopchick bobbed a shot in over Moravian junior goalie Tim Dollarton. Lebanon Valley eventually took the lead in the 62nd minute on a header from Brendan Steele off of a pass from Justin Hutchinson. Kopchick would net his second goal of the match in the 78th minute on a penalty kick.
Lebanon Valley had a 22-7 advantage in shots and an 8-6 edge in corner kicks. Dollarton made eight saves for the Greyhounds while Andrew Raudensky had one save for the Flying Dutchmen.

The Moravian College men's soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision to rival Muhlenberg College in head coach Todd Ervin's first match against his alma mater in a non-conference contest on a rainy HUB Quad Wednesday afternoon.
The Mules opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when junior forward/midfielder Mike Williams crossed a ball from the left corner. Sophomore forward Cody Antonini used a one-touch header to sophomore midfielder Andrew Lasiy, who drilled the ball in the goal for his first tally of the season. Muhlenberg needed just six minutes to score again while senior forward/midfielder Mike Gehrmann heading in a crossing pass from junior midfielder Evan Rubin for Gehrmann’s second goal of the season.
Antonini opened the scoring on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute, his fifth goal of the year. Five minutes later, Antonini would score again on a shot from nearly the same spot as his penalty kick after a crossing pass from junior defender Matt Cecconi. The Mules final goal came in the 90th minute when freshman forward Danny Way took a turn around shot after a crossing pass from sophomore midfielder Tim Leischner.
Muhlenberg had a 20-6 advantage in shots and a 6-3 edge in corner kicks in the game. Junior goalie Jason Daniels started for the Mules and had one save in 78 minutes of action while freshman Matt Kops played the final 12 minutes to combine on the shutout. Junior Tim Dollarton, pictured, started in goal for the Greyhounds and had four saves and allowed four goals in 74 minutes of action. Freshman Mike Brand made his collegiate debut in the final 16 minutes for Moravian and gave up one goal.

Senior midfielder Blake Ritchey, pictured, scored an unassisted goal in the 73rd minute to lift the Moravian College men’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over host Haverford College in the Jimmy Mills Tournament Sunday afternoon to give new Greyhound head coach Todd Ervin his first win.
Ritchey, who was named to the All-Tournament Team along with sophomore defender Mike Dobbins and freshman forward Nick Desiderio, took a shot from the top of the 18-yard box and put it in the top left corner of the next for the only goal of the match. The tally was the second in as many days for Ritchey.
Moravian had a 14-13 edge in shots while the Fords held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Greyhound junior goalie Tim Dollarton had two saves in his first start of the season, which was also his first career start and career shutout. Jamey Applegate had nine saves for Haverford.

The Moravian College men’s soccer team scored a pair of goals but it wasn’t enough as Cabrini College defeated the Greyhounds, 3-2, in the opening match of the Jimmy Mills Tournament hosted by Haverford College Saturday afternoon.
The Cavaliers scored first in the 12th minute when Brian Raffle scored off of a pass from Brian Moravian. The Greyhounds would tie the match in the 30th minute when senior midfielder Blake Ritchey, pictured, netted his second goal of the season from nearly 30 yards out off of a pass from senior defender Alexander Kulp.
Cabrini would score the first two goals of the second half with Eric Collins scoring off of a lead pass from Andrew Jacobs in the 56th minute. Jacobs would score what ended up as the game winning goal with a header off of a corner kick from Troy Allen in the 67th minute.
Moravian, which was playing on the road for the first time this season, pulled within a goal in the 82nd minute when freshman forward Nick Desiderio volleyed a shot into the goal from the top of the box for his first collegiate goal after an attempted clear by Cabrini.
The Cavaliers had a 19-7 advantage in shots in the match as well as an 11-4 edge in corner kicks. Cabrini goalie Bryan Johnson had two saves in the contest. Moravian junior keeper Bryant White had a season high eight saves in the match.

The Moravian College men’s soccer team scored its first two goals of the 2009 season but it still wasn’t enough for the squad’s first win of the year as the Greyhounds played to a 2-2, double-overtime draw with Baruch College on the HUB Quad Saturday evening, Moravian’s second tie in three matches this season.
The Greyhounds scored first with senior midfielder Blake Ritchey scoring on a penalty kick in the 29th minute. Moravian extended its lead to 2-0 in the 39th minute when sophomore midfielder Mark Casagrande corralled a loose ball outside of the 18-yard box after a corner kick and drove the ball back into the net.
The Bearcats would tie the match in the first ten minutes of the second half. Freddy Carrasco took a lead pass from Jason Lopez in the 50th minute to cut the Greyhound lead in half. Lopez would then tie the contest in the 55th minute with a shot from outside the 18-yard box that bounced off of one post and into the goal off of the other post.
Moravian had a 21-9 advantage in shots including 4-0 in the overtime sessions, and the Greyhounds had a 7-5 edge in corner kicks, including 3-0 in the extra 20 minutes. The Red Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute when senior midfielder Michael Cullen headed in a crossing pass from senior defender William Griffin. Montclair State doubled its lead five minutes later when sophomore midfielder Sean Pauls put a loose ball after a blocked shot in the back of the net.
