Moravian, the fifth seed, was eliminated from the 2007 NCAA Division III World Series, falling to eighth seeded Emory (GA) University, 12-3 in six innings in the first elimination game of the tournament. Emory threatened in the first inning, however, Moravian junior shortstop Beth Paly threw a runner out at the plate to keep the Eagles off the board. The Greyhounds would take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on a two-out, solo home run to left centerfield by sophomore designated player Sheri Bieniek. The homer was Bieniek's fifth of the season and tenth of her career. Emory would tie the game in the top of the third inning on a solo home run by Ali Braverman to lead off the inning. The homer was Braverman's third of the season and knotted the game at 1-1. The Eagles took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning on a two-run homer by Caitlin Fitzgerald. The home run was Fitzgerald's third of the season and came with one out in the inning. After the home run, Moravian sophomore pitcher Kristie Pellicani came into the circle to replace sophomore starter Maria DeBonis. The Greyhounds responded in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game again at 3-3. Junior third baseman Kelly Santry singled to left field with one out and Bieniek drew a walk. The hit by Santry was the 100th of her career, the 26th player to reach that milestone and the fourth this season. After an out, a wild pitch moved Santry to third and Bieniek to second base, freshman Katie Flood came in to pinch run for Bieniek. Senior catcher Danielle Carrione then delivered a two-RBI single to left field to score Santry and Flood. Emory scored six times in the top of the fifth inning. Braverman led off the inning with a single and a sacrifice bunt by Cassandra Walsh moved Braverman to second. Kim Bandy followed with a single to put runners on the corners before an RBI single by Sarah Morse. Another sacrifice bunt by Betsy Bruinsma, Lauren Haag drew her third walk of the game to load the bases. Fitzgerald hit an RBI single for the Eagles before Rachel Blume hit a three-RBI double to right centerfield. Alyson Moler finished off the inning for Emory with an RBI double to score Fitzgerald. The Eagles would add three more runs in the top of the sixth inning. Walsh tripled to center field to lead off the inning and scored on an RBI single by Bandy. After two outs including a sacrifice bunt by Morse, Haag hit an RBI single to left field to score Bandy and Haag ended up on third base after the throw home. Fitzgerald then singled through the left side for her fourth RBI of the game and giving Emory a 12-3 lead. The Eagles had 13 hits with Fitzgerald going three-for-four. Braverman, Walsh and Bandy each had two hits while Haag was one-for-one with three walks and three runs. Moravian had six hits in the contest with two by Carrione. DeBonis allowed three runs on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings for the Greyhounds while Pellicani dropped to 17-5 on the season, allowing nine runs on ten hits and a walk with one strikeout. The fifth seeded Greyhounds dropped their opening game of the 2007 NCAA Division III World Series at the James I. Moyer Complex in Salem, Virginia, falling to fourth seed DePauw (IN) University, 4-2. Moravian will now pay eighth seed Emory (GA) University in the first elimination game of the series on Saturday, May 19th at 11:00 a.m. Emory dropped its first game to top seeded Linfield (OR) College, 11-0 in five innings, to open the tournament. The loss snapped a 13-game winning streak for the Greyhounds. Moravian jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Sophomore outfielder Erica Klepeisz hit a two-out double to right field and scored on an RBI single to center field by senior outfielder Lauren Homa. The Tigers responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead. Rachel Gill singled to lead off the inning, and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Kaitlyn Davitt. Carolyn Bartlett doubled to right centerfield to score Davitt, and after an out, Jessica Bowlds hit an RBI double to right centerfield to score Bartlett. Moravian tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fifth inning. Klepeisz got things started again with her second double of the game and 13th of the season with one out. Homa reached on an error, and junior shortstop Beth Paly singled through the right side to load the bases. However, the Greyhounds were able to get just one run on a bases loaded walk by junior third baseman Kelly Santry. Moravian left a total of eight runners on base in the game including five in scoring position. DePauw scored twice more in the bottom of the sixth inning for a 4-2 lead. Bartlett led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a passed ball. Lauren Rees drew a walk and the runners moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Bowlds. Laura Schlensker hit an RBI sacrifice line drive to center field to score Bartlett with what was the winning run. Erin Ketchem, who pinch ran for Rees, scored on an RBI single by Chelsey Patterson. Moravian had seven hits in the game with Klepeisz going two-for-four while DePauw had nine hits including a three-for-three game from Bartlett. Sophomore Kristie Pellicani dropped to 17-4 in the circle for Moravian, allowing four runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out two batters in 5 2/3 innings. Sophomore Maria DeBonis came in to record the final out of the sixth inning. Megan Soultz earned the win for DePauw, allowing two runs, just one earned, on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

Top seeded Moravian advanced to the NCAA Division III World Series for the second time in four seasons with an 8-2 victory over second seed and host Montclair State University in the championship game of the NCAA Division III Regionals. The Greyhounds will play the winner of the New Concord, Ohio Regional on Friday, May 18th at 1:30 p.m. in the second game of the 2007 NCAA Division III World Series at the James Moyer Complex in Salem, Virginia. Moravian jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Sophomore outfielder Erica Klepeisz led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by senior outfielder Lauren Homa. Junior shortstop Beth Paly followed with a single to put runners on the corners. Sophomore pitcher Maria DeBonis hit an RBI single up the middle to score Klepeisz. Junior third baseman Kelly Santry singled to load the bases before sophomore designated player Deanna Mangieri hit an RBI single through the right side to score Paly. However, the Greyhounds would leave the bases loaded in the inning. The Red Hawks scored a run in the top of the second inning to cut Moravian's lead in half. Kelly Karp led off with a single and eventually scored on the Greyhounds' first error of the tournament. Moravian would push six runs across the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning for an 8-1 lead. Senior catcher Danielle Carrione led off with a single and freshman Katie Flood came into pinch run for Carrione. Sophomore second baseman Katie Agnew laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Flood to second, and Klepeisz drew a walk. Homa hit a single to load the bases before Paly hit an RBI ground out scoring Flood. DeBonis followed with a two-RBI double to right center field that just missed being her third home run of the tournament. Santry drew a walk before Mangieri hit a flare to center field that scored DeBonis. On the throw home, Mangieri ran to second base, and the throw allowed Santry to come all the way around in score. Sophomore first baseman Sheri Bieniek singled to bring Carrione back to the plate. Carrione hit an RBI single to left field to score Mangieri. The hit was the 100th of Carrione's career, the 25th player in Moravian history to reach 100 career hits. Montclair State, ranked tenth in the country, scored the final run in the top of the fifth inning on a leadoff solo home run by Maureen Shockley. Moravian, currently ranked fifth in the nation, had 15 hits in the game with DeBonis and Klepeisz each collecting three hits. Carrione, Bieniek and Mangieri each had two hits for the Greyhounds. DeBonis improved to 18-2 in the circle for Moravian, allowing two runs, just one earned, on four hits and three walks while striking out ten batters. Carolyn McCrea suffered the loss for the Red Hawks, allowing eight runs on 15 hits and three walks while striking out three batters. The Greyhounds had five players named to the Regional All-Tournament Team including Paly, Santry, Klepeisz, DeBonis and sophomore pitcher Kristie Pellicani.

The top seeded Greyhounds used the long ball again to advance to the regional championship game for the fifth straight year as Moravian topped second seed and host Montclair State University, 9-2. The game was also a battle of the top teams in the country with the Greyhounds ranked fifth in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 Poll while the Red Hawks are ranked tenth. Moravian will await the winner of the final elimination game in Sunday's championship game beginning at 12:00 p.m. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Sophomore second baseman Katie Agnew led off with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore outfielder Jordan Oplinger. After another out, senior outfielder Lauren Homa singled up the middle to score Agnew. Moravian would make its lead 2-0 in the top of the fourth inning when sophomore designated player Maria DeBonis led off the inning with a solo home run to left field, DeBonis' second homer of the tournament and fourth of the season. The Greyhounds would extend their lead to 6-0 in the top of the fifth inning. Sophomore outfielder Erica Klepeisz doubled with one out and Homa followed with a bunt single. After a pop out, DeBonis drew a walk to lead the bases. Junior third baseman Kelly Santry made the Red Hawks pay for the DeBonis walk, drilling the ball over the left center for her second grand slam of the season. The home run was Moravian's 17th in its last 11 games. Montclair State would get a run in the bottom of the fifth inning on a triple by Megan Durkin and an RBI single from Jackie Ferranti. The Red Hawks pulled within 6-2 in the sixth inning on a lead off solo home run by Kelly Nance. Moravian would score the final three runs in the top of the seventh inning. DeBonis and Santry each drew two-out walks. Sophomore catcher Deanna Mangieri hit a single to centerfield to score DeBonis before sophomore first baseman Sheri Bieniek hit a two run double to straight away centerfield. Bieniek's hit just missed clearing the eight-foot fence. The Greyhounds finished with ten hits with two each by Klepeisz, Homa and Santry. The Red Hawks had seven hits with three by Ferranti and two from Nance. Sophomore pitcher Kristie Pellicani improved to 17-3 in the circle for Moravian, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out six batters. Carolyn McCrea suffered the loss for Montclair State, allowing nine runs on ten hits and four walks with two strikeouts.

Top seeded Moravian won its opening game at the 2007 NCAA Division III Regional being hosted by Montclair State University with a 6-2 victory over fifth seed Gettysburg College. With the victory, the Greyhounds advance to a winner's bracket game on Saturday, May 12th at 10:00 a.m. The Bullets advance to play Moravian with a 4-1 victory over fourth seed Ramapo College of New Jersey. Thursday's other first round games had sixth seeded College of Staten Island defeating third seed King's College, 5-3, and the host and second seed Red Hawks needing nine innings to defeated Manhattanville College, 3-2. Moravian jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning against Gettysburg. Sophomore outfielder Erica Klepeisz led off with an infield single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by senior outfielder Lauren Homa. Junior shortstop Beth Paly then delivered an RBI triple down the right field line to score Klepeisz. Paly would score on a dropped fly ball in the Bullet outfield with two outs. The Greyhounds extended their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning. Sophomore pitcher Maria DeBonis led off the inning with a single through the left side of the infield. After a sacrifice bunt by junior third baseman Kelly Santry and an infield single by sophomore designated player Deanna Mangieri, Moravian pulled off a double steal with Mangieri getting into an intentional run down to allow DeBonis to score. The Bullets would get a run in the top of the fourth inning to cut Moravian's lead to 3-1. Erin Ober had a one-out infield single and eventually scored on an RBI fielder's choice by Sarah Woodbury with the bases loaded. Gettysburg would pull within a run in the top of the sixth inning when Abbe Miller doubled with one out and scored on an RBI single by Woodbury. Moravian scored three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to build a 6-2 lead. Homa started the rally with a two-out double. Paly then hit a pop fly that fell in behind second base for an RBI single scoring Homa. DeBonis followed with a two-run home run to right field to finish off the scoring. The homer was DeBonis' third of the season, and the Greyhounds' 15th home run on their last ten games. Moravian finished with ten hits including two each by DeBonis, Paly and Klepeisz. Klepeisz's second hit, a single up the middle in the fourth inning was the 100th hit of her Moravian career, and she is the 24th player in school history to reach the 100-hit plateau. Gettysburg had just six hits with Miller going three-for-three. DeBonis improved to 17-2 in the circle on the year for the Greyhounds. She allowed one walk in addition to the six hits and two earned runs while striking out four batters. Kristy Rubino suffered the loss for the Bullets, allowing six runs, five of them earned, on ten hits and a walk while striking out three.

Vs. Messiah College at 2007 Commonwealth Conference Tournament Championship hosted by Lebanon Valley College - Won 5-0        Boxscore

Top seeded Moravian won its seventh straight Commonwealth Conference Tournament Championship, defeating fourth seed Messiah College, 5-0, in the title game at Lebanon Valley College. The Greyhounds, ranked tenth in the nation, earn their tenth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament with the win. Moravian sophomore pitcher Kristie Pellicani was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after tossing a four-hit shutout, her seventh shutout of the season and second of the Commonwealth Tournament. Pellicani allowed just one walk and stuck out five batters to improve to 16-3 on the season in the circle. The Greyhounds would give Pellicani all the offense she needed in the bottom of the third inning. Sophomore second baseman Katie Agnew led off the inning with a single to right field. Sophomore outfielder Jordan Oplinger then laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Agnew over to second base. However, the throw to first base sailed wide and after a collision between Oplinger and the Messiah second baseman covering first base, the ball ended up down in the right field bullpen with Agnew coming all the way around to score. Moravian extended its lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning on a one-out, solo home run by sophomore catcher Deanna Mangieri. The homer was Mangieri's second of the season. The Greyhounds added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Oplinger led off with a walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. Sophomore outfielder Erica Klepeisz then hit an RBI single down the right field line. Moravian finished off the scoring in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two-run, pinch hit home run by sophomore Sheri Bieniek that scored Mangieri, who had doubled. The homer was Bieniek's fourth of the season and Moravian's 14th in its last nine games. The Greyhounds finished with six hits including two by Mangieri.

The Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning without a hit. Moravian sophomore pitcher Maria DeBonis allowed two walks and a pair of fielder's choices before hitting Messiah's Rebecca Croft with a pitch while the bases were loaded. The Greyhounds didn't wait long to tie the score as senior first baseman Lauren Homa connected on her first home run of the season, a solo shot down the left field line. Moravian would strand a runner at second in the third inning and runners at second and third in the fourth inning while Messiah put a runner on second in the second inning. The Greyhounds would score twice in the bottom of the fifth inning with two outs. Homa drew a walk to bring junior shortstop Beth Paly to the plate. Paly then connected on a two-run home run to left field, her fifth homer of the season, to give the Greyhounds a 3-1 lead. Messiah got one run back in the top of the sixth inning on a solo homer by Amy Bowie to lead off the inning. Bowie's hit was just the Falcons' second of the game. The Greyhounds closed out their final Commonwealth Conference doubleheader with a 7-1 victory at Messiah College to sweep the Falcons and finished the regular season at 13-1 in conference action. The homer was Ritchey's second in three games. The Falcons would score their lone run of the game in the bottom of the second inning when Amy Bowie led off with a solo home run. The Greyhounds responded two innings later with three runs in the top of the sixth inning. With one out, junior shortstop Beth Paly tied the contest with a solo home run, her third of the season. Moravian would add two more runs to its lead in the top of the seventh inning on a two-out, two-run homer by Paly that score Klepeisz, who had singled. The Greyhounds, ranked fifth in the country, swept their second straight non-conference doubleheader, defeating Eastern University, 8-0 in five innings at Blue & Grey Field. Sophomore pitcher Maria DeBonis tossed her first collegiate no-hitter with nine strikeouts and just a leadoff walk in the first inning. DeBonis, who struck out nine batters, tossed her 11th shutout of the season to improve to 14-2 on the year. DeBonis received all of the ofense she would need in the bottom of the first inning. Sophomore outfielder Jordan Oplinger led off with a single before sophomore outfielder Erica Klepeisz hit a home run off the right field foul pole for a 2-0 Greyhound lead. Moravian added three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Sophomore second baseman Katie Agnew hit a sacrifice fly to score junior outfielder Megan Ritchey, who had reached on an error. Senior designated player Rebecca DeJulio had also reached on an error before Agnew's fly ball and eventually scored on a passed ball. After DeJulio scored, Oplinger singled and crossed the plate on an RBI double by junior shortstop Beth Paly. The Greyhounds would institute the NCAA eight-run rule in the bottom of the fifth inning with three more runs. Freshman shortstop Chrissy McGlinn led off the inning with a single and freshman first baseman Danielle Massa followed with a single. After two fly outs, Ritchey connected on her first home run of the season to left field to end the game. Moravian had nine hits with two each by Ritchey and Oplinger.

DeBonis, who is now 13-2 on the season, also struck out 12 batters in the contest. The Greyhounds scored all of the offense they would need in the bottom of the first inning with four runs. Sophomore outfielders Jordan Oplinger and Erica Klepeisz and junior shortstop Beth Paly each had singles to load the bases. DeBonis reached on an error that allowed Oplinger to score while Klepeisz crossed the plate on an RBI single by sophomore designated player Deanna Mangieri. Senior catcher Danielle Carrione added a two-RBI single to score Paly and DeBonis. Moravian scored again in the bottom of the third inning when Mangieri led off with a single and eventually scored on an RBI ground out by freshman pinch hitter Chrissy McGlinn. The loss also snapped a 25-game winning streak against the Bulldogs. The only other time Moravian lost to DeSales was the first time the two schools met on April 22, 1980 when then Allentown College of St. Francis DeSales defeated the Greyhounds, 13-0. Moravian took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when sophomore first baseman Sheri Bieniek hit an RBI single that scored sophomore shortstop Jordan Oplinger, who had singled to lead off the game. The Bulldogs answered with five runs in the bottom of the first inning with all five runs coming with two outs. Moravian starting pitcher Kristie Pellicani was relieved by sophomore Katie Agnew during the inning. Moravian scored twice in the top of the second inning on an error that allowed senior outfielder Justina Black to score and an RBI ground out by sophomore outfielder Erica Klepeisz that scored senior catcher Danielle Carrione. The Greyhounds eventually took the lead with three runs in the top of the fourth inning for a 6-5 advantage. Moravian added four runs in the top of the fifth inning for a 5-0 lead. Sophomore pitcher Megan DeBonis drew a bases loaded walk to drive in senior outfielder Lauren Homa, who had started a two-out rally with a single. The Greyhounds would score three runs in the top of the seventh inning for the victory. The Greyhounds scored the only run of the game in the top of the fifth inning when junior outfielder Megan Ritchey doubled with one out and scored on a wild pitch. Moravian had just four hits in the game with two by Ritchey. Moravian and the US Merchant Marine Academy will begin competition in the Landmark Conference next fall.

DeBonis would get all of the offense she needed in the bottom of the first inning. Moravian's Commonwealth Conference season opener versus Widener University for Saturday, March 17th has been postponed due to field conditions. The doubleheader has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 1st at 1:00 p.m. at Blue & Grey Field in Bethlehem. It was originally going to be played on Sunday, March 25th but was moved to make-up a doubleheader with Juniata College.

After an out, sophomore catcher Deanna Mangieri hit a two-RBI double to score Black and Bieniek. Augustana took the lead right back in the top of the third inning with an unearned run on a passed ball. Moravian tied the contest in the bottom of the fourth inning when Bieniek hit a one-out, solo home run, her first of the season.
