At The University of Scranton in Landmark Conference Semifinals

The Moravian College men’s tennis team had its 2009-10 season come to a close with an 8-0 loss to The University of Scranton in the 2010 Landmark Conference Semifinals Wednesday afternoon.
The Greyhounds complete the season with a 7-8 record as the team was making its fourth straight appearance in the conference postseason.
The Royals swept the doubles action to build a 3-0 lead. Moravian’s third doubles team of senior Chandler Forman, pictured at right, and junior Thomas Turcich had an early lead but eventually fell 9-7. Forman finishes his career with a 34-27 doubles mark, the fourth highest win total in school history. Senior Ian Box and junior Doug Morrow suffered an 8-3 loss at first doubles as Box completes his career with a school record 41 doubles wins and a 41-32 record.
In singles action, Greyhound sophomores Kevin Holze and Drew Shreter each dropped three-set matches, Holze falling at third singles and Shreter at fourth singles. Box had split his first two sets at first singles; however, since the match had been decided, the third set was not completed. Box, pictured at left, finished his career with a 43-27, the fourth highest win total in school history. Forman didn't compete in singles action but finished his career with a 34-23 singles slate, the sixth most wins in school history.

The Moravian College men’s tennis team dropped a 6-3 Landmark Conference match to Drew University at Hoffman Courts Saturday afternoon to close out the 2009-10 regular season. The Greyhounds are the third seed for the 2010 Landmark Conference Tournament and will travel to The University of Scranton for a semifinal match on Wednesday, May 5th.
The Rangers swept all three doubles match to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
Moravian would win three of the six singles matches with sophomores Drew Shreter, pictured at right, and Stefan Apostolos each earning three-set victories after falling in the first sets of their contests. Sophomore Nick Yeliot also earned a win for the Greyhounds after his opponent retired in the first set.
Vs. Goucher College
Won 9-0 - Box Score
The Moravian College men’s tennis team clinched its fourth straight postseason appearance with a 9-0 Landmark Conference victory over Goucher College Saturday at Hoffman Courts. The Greyhounds will find out after next weekend's matches if the team will be at home or on the road for the Landmark Conference Semifinals on Wednesday, May 5th.
The Greyhounds swept the doubles action for a 3-0 lead. Senior Ian Box and sophomore Drew Shreter earned an 8-6 win at first doubles as Box, pictured at right, became the Moravian record holder for career doubles wins with 41. Sophomores Stefan Apostolos and Kevin Holze had an 8-3 win at second doubles while senior Chandler Forman and junior Thomas Turcich had an 8-0 victory at third doubles.
Moravian also swept the singles action for its third 9-0 win in conference play this year. The Greyhounds won all six matches in straight sets with Box winning at first singles, Holze at second singles, Shreter at third singles, Apostolos at fourth singles, sophomore Nick Yelito at fifth singles and Forman at sixth singles.
At The University of Scranton

The Moravian College men’s tennis team suffered its first loss of the season in Landmark Conference action, falling to The University of Scranton, 7-2, on the road Wednesday afternoon.
The Royals took a 2-1 lead with close wins at second and third doubles by scores of 8-5 and 9-7. The Greyhounds' duo of senior Ian Box and junior Doug Morrow posted a 9-8(3) victory at first doubles. The doubles win for Box was the 40th of his career, tying the school record for doubles victories by a single player.
Sophomore Nick Yelito, pictured at right, posted a straight sets win at sixth singles for Moravian's only victory in singles action. Sophomore Drew Shreter fell in three sets, including a tiebreaker in the third set at fourth singles.
At Muhlenberg College
Won 5-4 - Box Score
The Moravian College men’s tennis team won its third straight match and moved over the .500 mark for the first time this season with a 5-4 non-conference victory at rival Muhlenberg College Monday evening.
The Greyhounds jumped out to a 2-1 in doubles action with 8-3 wins at first doubles and second doubles. Senior Ian Box and junior Doug Morrow posted a victory at first doubles while sophomores Stefan Apostolos and Kevin Holze won at second doubles. Senior Chandler Forman and junior Thomas Turcich fell by an 8-6 score at third doubles.
Moravian then won three of the six singles matches to clinch the victory. Sophomore Drew Shreter, pictured at right, was tied at a set apiece and 3-3 in the third set at fourth singles before winning the final three points for the clinching victory for the Greyhounds. Holze also had a straight sets win at second singles while sophomore Nick Yelito won in straight sets at sixth singles. Apostolos and Forman fell in straight sets at fourth and fifth singles while Box had to retire while trailing in the first set after suffering an injury during doubles action.
At The United States Merchant Marine Academy
Won 9-0 - Box Score
The Moravian College men’s tennis team remained undefeated in Landmark Conference action this season, sweeping the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday to move back to .500 for the season at 5-5.
The Greyhounds swept the doubles action to build a 3-0 lead. Senior Ian Box, pictured at right, and sophomore Drew Shreter had an 8-4 win at first doubles while sophomores Stefan Apostolos and Kevin Holze won 8-1 at second doubles. Senior Chandler Forman and junior Thomas Turcich had an 8-4 victory at third doubles.
Moravian then swept the singles contests for its second straight shutout win in Landmark Conference action. Box needed three sets to win at first singles while the other five victories were in straight sets. Holze won at second singles while Shreter was victorious at third singles and Forman won at fourth singles. Junior Nick Yeltio earned a win at fifth singles while senior Jason Bonilla earned his first dual match victory of the season at sixth singles.
Vs. Neumann University

The Moravian College men’s tennis team won its first non-conference match of the season, defeating Neumann University, 7-2, Wednesday afternoon at Hoffman Courts.
The Greyhounds swept the doubles action to build a 3-0 lead. Senior Ian Box and sophomore Drew Shreter had an 8-5 win at first doubles while sophomores Stefan Apostolos and Kevin Holze, pictured at right, won 8-3 at second doubles. Senior Chandler Forman and junior Thomas Turcich had an 8-2 victory at third doubles.
Moravian then won four of the six singles matches in straight sets for the victory. Holze earned a win at second singles while Shreter won at third singles. Forman posted a victory at fifth singles for the Greyhounds while sophomore Nick Yelito won at sixth singles. Apostolos was leading his fourth singles match in the first set when an injury forced him to retire.
Vs. LaSalle University

The Moravian College men’s tennis team dropped a 7-2 non-conference decision to NCAA Division I LaSalle University at Hoffman Courts Sunday.
The Explorers won two of the three doubles contests to take a 2-1 lead. The Greyhounds earned their point at third doubles after a win from senior Chandler Forman, pictured at right, and junior Thomas Turcich.
Sophomore Nick Yelito posted a straight sets win at sixth singles for Moravian's only point in singles action. Forman at fifth singles and sophomore Drew Shreter at third singles both forced a third set in their singles contests but fell in super tiebreakers, 10-6.
Vs. Susquehanna University

The Moravian College men’s tennis team remained undefeated in Landmark Conference action this season with a 9-0 sweep of Susquehanna University at Hoffman Courts Saturday afternoon.
The Greyhounds earned points in all three doubles matches with victories by senior Ian Box and sophomore Kevin Holze, pictured at left, at first doubles, freshman Stefan Apostolos and sophomore Drew Shreter at second doubles and senior Chandler Forman and junior Thomas Turcich at third doubles.
Moravian then won all six singles contests, five of them in straight sets. Box won at first singles while Holze won at second and Shreter posted a win at third singles. Apostolos earned a victory at fourth singles while Forman posted a three-set win at fifth singles. Sophomore Nick Yelito won in straight sets at sixth singles for the Greyhounds.

The Moravian College men’s tennis team dropped its second straight match, falling to Wilkes University, 7-2, in non-conference action at Hoffman Courts Monday afternoon.
The Colonels won two of three doubles matches for a 2-1 lead. Junior Doug Morrow, pictured at right, and sophomore Stefan Apostolos posted an 8-5 win at second doubles for the Greyhounds.
Moravian earned one point in singles action with sophomore Nick Yelito falling in three sets at sixth singles. The Greyhounds had two other players play three-set contests with Morrow falling at second singles while senior Chandler Forman dropped a match at fifth singles.
Vs. Stevens Institute of Technology

The Moravian College men’s tennis team opened its 2010 home season with a 9-0 non-conference loss to regionally-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology at Hoffman Courts Wednesday afternoon.
The Ducks swept the doubles action to take a 3-0 lead. The best match was at second doubles where senior Chandler Forman and sophomore Drew Shreter dropped an 8-6 decision.
Stevens Institute of Technology also swept the singles action to sweep the match. Senior Ian Box, pictured at right, won his opening set at first singles in a tie-breaker before falling in three sets, the only match that wasn't decided in straight sets.
Vs. LaSalle University
Postponed to April 11th
The Moravian College men’s tennis team has had its 2010 season opener versus NCAA Division I LaSalle University, scheduled for Tuesday, March 30th, postponed due to the weather. The match has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 11th at 10:30 a.m. at Hoffman Courts in Bethlehem.
At Juniata College

The Moravian College men’s tennis team evened its overall record at 2-2 and remained undefeated in Landmark Conference action with an 8-1 victory at Juniata College Saturday afternoon in the team's second straight road conference match.
Moravian swept the doubles action to build a 3-0 lead. Senior Ian Box and sophomore Kevin Holze posted a 9-7 win at first doubles while junior Doug Morrow and sophomore Nick Yelito had an 8-6 win at second doubles. Senior Chandler Forman and sophomore Drew Shreter earned an 8-4 victory at third doubles.
The Greyhounds won five of six singles matches to earn the victory. Box, pictured at right, won in straight sets at first singles while Morrow had a straight sets win at second singles. Holze earned a straight sets victory at third singles while Forman won in two sets at fifth singles. Yelito had a straight sets win at sixth singles for Moravian.
At The Catholic University of America

The Moravian College men’s tennis team opened its 2010 Landmark Conference season with a 7-2 victory at The Catholic University of America Saturday afternoon as the Greyhounds played for the first time in ten days.
Moravian won two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead. Junior Doug Morrow and sophomore Stefan Apostolos earned an 8-1 victory at second doubles while senior Chandler Forman and sophomore Drew Shreter posted an 8-4 victory at third doubles. Senior Ian Box and sophomore Kevin Holze fell at first doubles by an 8-4 score.
The Greyhounds won second through sixth singles in straight sets to earn their first dual match win of the season. Morrow, pictured at right, won at seconds singles while Holze was victories at third singles and Shreter at fourth singles. Forman had the closest singles match in a victory at fifth singles while Apostolos won at sixth singles. Box suffered the only loss in singles action at first singles.

The Moravian College men’s tennis team had its first match of the season versus an NCAA Division III opponent, Salve Regina University, cancelled due to rain in the Orlando, Florida area. The match will not be rescheduled as Salve Regina leaves in the morning to return to Rhode Island.

The Moravian College men’s tennis team dropped its second straight match to open the 2010 spring season, falling to NCAA Division I Sacred Heart (CT) University, 9-0, in a match in Orlando, Florida.
The Greyhounds played tough throughout the match with the doubles team of senior Ian Box, pictured ar right, and sophomore Kevin Holze posting an 8-4 loss at first doubles.
Holze had the top singles showing for Moravian, falling to Chris Ujkic, 6-0, 6-4 at second singles while senior Chandler Forman and sophomore Nick Yelito each posted 6-2, 6-1 scores in losses at fourth singles for Forman against Michael Syer and fifth singles by Yelito against Jacob Miller. Box dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision at first singles to Kirill Kasyanov while senior Jason Bonilla fell at sixth singles to Jinal Shah by a 6-1, 6-0 score.

The Moravian College men’s tennis team opened its 2010 spring season with its first dual match of the year, falling to NAIA powerhouse #23 Olivet Nazarene University, 9-0, in a non-conference match Tuesday morning.
The Greyhounds played tough throughout the match with the doubles team of sophomores Drew Shreter and Nick Yelito falling 8-5 at third doubles and the tandem of senior Ian Box and sophomore Kevin Holze posted an 8-4 loss at second doubles.
Holze, pictured at right, had the top singles showing for Moravian, falling to Hugo Moriya, 7-5, 6-4 at third singles while Box dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision at first singles to senior Mirko Perkusich. Yelito posted a 6-3, 6-2 loss to freshman Josue Sanchez at sixth singles while sophomore Stefan Apostolos fell 6-2, 6-1 to senior Victor Mesquita at fifth singles in Apostolos' first career dual match for the Greyhounds.
At Lehigh University Men's & Women's Tennis Team Challenge
Second Day Results - Individuals Only - Box Score
The Moravian College men's tennis team finished the fall portion of its schedule by competing on the second day of the two-day Lehigh University Men's & Women's Team Tennis Challenge at the Ulrich Varsity Courts and inside the Lewis Tennis Center on the Goodman Campus. Also competing on the men's side were the University of Delaware and Temple University.
The Greyhounds played doubles action versus Temple on the second day of competition. Senior Ian Box and sophomore Kevin Holze, pictured, lost at first doubles to Filip Rams and Kacper Rams, 8-1. The Moravian duo of sophomores Drew Shreter and Nick Yelito fell to Dmitry Vizhunov and Matt King, 8-2.
In singles action, Moravian played Lehigh with Box falling to Matt Savran, 6-1, 6-1 and Holze falling to Andrew Krentz, 6-0, 6-3. Shreter dropped a 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3) decision to Greg Holtzman while Yelito fell to Matthew Fink, 6-0, 6-1.
At Lehigh University Men's & Women's Tennis Team Challenge
First Day Results - Individuals Only
The Moravian College men's tennis team is competing at the two-day Lehigh University Men's & Women's Team Tennis Challenge at the Ulrich Varsity Courts and inside the Lewis Tennis Center on the Goodman Campus. Also competing on the men's side are the University of Delaware and Temple University.
The Greyhounds played doubles action versus Delaware and Lehigh on the first day of competition. Senior Ian Box, pictured, and sophomore Kevin Holze lost in first doubles to Austin Longacre and Gokay Celik from Delaware, 8-3, and Edgars Rauza and Matt Savran from Lehigh, 8-4. The Moravian duo of sophomores Drew Shreter and Nick Yelito fell to Andre Vorobyov and Jeff Marshall from Delaware, 8-0, and Matthew Fink and Greg Holtzman of Lehigh, 8-3.
In singles action, Moravian played Delaware with Box falling to Austin Longacre, 6-2, 6-0 and Holze falling to Courtney Scott, 6-0, 6-2. Shreter dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision to Nick Piacente while Yelito fell to Camilo Perez, 6-0, 6-2. Junior Thomas Turcich, who played doubles with a member of the Lehigh team versus Delaware, fell to Ryan Kent, 6-1, 6-0 in singles action.
Moravian will play singles against Lehigh University as well as singles and doubles versus Temple on Sunday in the second day of the tournament.
At Wilson ITA Southeast Regional Championships hosted by The University of Mary Washington

The Moravian College men's tennis team finished its competition at the 2009 Wilson Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regional Championship being hosted by The University of Mary Washington. The Greyhounds had five singles players competing in the second day of the tournament.
Junior Thomas Turcich won the B7 singles draw with a pair of victories on Sunday. Turcich defeated Austin Plantz of Elizabethtown College, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals, and then he defeated Donnie Greathouse from Virginia Wesleyan College, 6-4, 6-4 in the finals.
Sophomore Nick Yelito won the consolation bracket of the B5 singles draw with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Mike Steinberger of King's College in the semifinals and a 6-1, 6-1 victory versus Bennett Kelley from the University of Scranton in the consolation finals.
Senior Jason Bonilla fell in the semifinals of the B6 singles draw with a 6-2, 6-3 loss to Samuel Stone of Franklin & Marshall College while sophomore Kevin Holze also lost in the semifinals of the B3 singles draw after a 6-2, 6-4 loss to Andrew Laux from Washington (MD) College. Sophomore Drew Shreter was playing in quarterfinals of the consolation bracket of the B4 singles draw and had a 4-3 lead on Dan Ehala from the University of Scranton when Shreter had to retire due to an injury.
At Wilson ITA Southeast Regional Championships hosted by The University of Mary Washington

The Moravian College men's tennis team is competing at the 2009 Wilson Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regional Championship being hosted by The University of Mary Washington. The Greyhounds have seven players competing in the tournament.
Junior Doug Morrow played in the championship singles flight, falling to Evan Thoms from Salisbury University, 6-3, 6-3 in the opening round, and losing to Jeremy Brecht of Washington & Lee University, 6-0, 6-2 in the consolation first round. Sophomore Kevin Holze earned a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) win over Anthony Rosselli from Grove City College in the opening round of the B3 singles flight, and then Holze defeated Paul Graci of York College of Pennsylvania, 6-4, 6-3 in the quarterfinals to advance to Sunday's semifinals.
Sophomore Drew Shreter fell to Alec Turner from Franklin & Marshall College, 7-5, 6-0 in the opening round of the B4 singles draw, and Shreter will play Dan Ehala from the University of Scranton in the first round of the consolation bracket on Sunday.
Moravian had two players in the B5 singles flight. Senior Chandler Forman won his opening round match, defeating Mike Steinberger from King's College, 6-0, 6-1, but Forman was knocked out of the tournament in a 6-2, 6-0 loss go Mike Pannone of the University of Scranton. Sophomore Nick Yelito lost his opening round match in the flight to Peter Bookman from Franklin & Marshall College, 6-0, 6-3, and Yeliot will play in the consolation bracket on Sunday.
Senior Jason Bonilla, pictured, opened play in the B6 draw with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Nick Conte from King's College. Bonilla then defeated Randy Speck from Stevenson University, 7-5, 6-0 to advance to the semifinals on Sunday against Samuel Stone of Franklin & Marshall College. Junior Thomas Turcich earned an opening round win in the B& singles flight over Oeter Baggan of Shenandoah University, 6-0, 6-3. Turcich then defeated Dave Chen from King's College, 6-0, 6-0 to advance to Sunday's semifinals verus Austin Plantz of Elizabethtown College.
In doubles action, Morrow and Yelito defeated Manrique Arrea and Brok Walker from Elizabethtown College, 8-4, in the opening round of the championship doubles flight. Morrow and Yelito were then knocked out of the tournament with an 8-1 loss to fifth seeded Nikola Liuboja and James Muliawan of Carnegie Mellon University.
Holze and Shreter fell to Colin Jones and Travis Klein from York College of Pennsylvania, 8-6, in the opening round of the B2 doubles flight before defeating Ted Cooke and Kevin Stamm of Stevenson University, 8-2 in the first round of consolation play. Holze and Shreter will continue in the consolation bracket on Sunday. Forman and Turcich started action in the B3 doubles draw with an 8-2 win over Ben Petasky and Speck from Stevenson University. However, Forman and Turcich were knocked out of the tournament with an 8-6 loss to Justin Hostetter and James Villari from York College of Pennsylvania in the quarterfinals.
At Muhlenberg College Fall Classic

The Moravian College men's tennis team began its 2009-10 season under new head coach Bill Maxwell at the Muhlenberg College Fall Classic with Elizabethtown College and Wilkes University. There were no team scores and the individuals played two singles and two doubles matches.
The Greyhounds had three individual players reach the finals of their flights. Sophomore Kevin Holze won his first match at third singles before falling in straight sets in the finals while sophomore Drew Shreter won his first contest in three sets in the fourth singles flight before dropping a three-set match in the championship. Sophomore Nick Yelito won his first match in fifth singles in straight sets before a straight sets loss in the final.
Senior Ian Box, pictured, dropped his first round match in the first singles flight in straight sets but came back to win the consolation match in a proset. Junior Doug Morrow in the second singles flight and freshman Sam Greene at sixth singles each dropped both of their singles contests.
Moravian did had one doubles championship team with Box and Shreter winning two contests to capture the second doubles flight. Senior Chandler Forman and junior Thomas Turcich won their first match at third doubles before falling in the final while Morrow and Holze suffered two setbacks in the first doubles flight.
