At McElligott Invitational at Haverford College - No Team Scores

Moravian had one competitor taking a last chance to qualify for the 2002 NCAA Division III Champions at the McElligott Invitational hosted by Haverford College. Sophomore Joe Moore won the long jump but came up just short of making the NCAA qualifying standard. He won the event with a leap of 7.04 meters (23 feet, 1 1/4 inches) and the standard he needed to reach was 7.05 meters (23 feet, 1 3/4 inches). Moore's distance came on his last jump of the competition.

At Jim Tuppeny Twilight Meet at Villanova University - No Team Scores

The Greyhounds had just one competitor at the Jim Tuppeny Twilight meet hosted by Villanova University with sophomore John Lesoine placing seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 43.46 meters (142 feet, three inches). 

At MAC Championships – Final Day Results - 5th place of 9

Moravian finished in fifth place of nine schools at the 2002 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Susquehanna University. The Greyhounds had a team score of 75 points. Moravian had its only individual champion of the meet on the final day with sophomore Joe Moore winning the long jump with a leap of 6.92 meters (22 feet, 8 1/2 inches). Moore also took seventh in the 200-meter dash in 23.03 seconds. Freshman Scott Silvoy was second in the 200 meters in 22.21 seconds while senior Kevin Bush was fourth in 22.45 seconds. Silvoy also had a runner-up finish in the 400 meters in a time of 49.24 seconds while Bush was third in the 100-meter dash in 11.30 seconds. Silvoy, Bush and Moore teamed with junior Brian Mack to place second in the 4x100-meter relay in a school record time of 42.07 seconds, just .07 seconds from qualifying for the NCAA Division III National Championships. Silvoy and Bush also ran with senior Josh Heebner and junior George Wacker in the 4x400-meter relay, which placed fifth in a time of 3:27.02.

Sophomore Steve Hartenstine placed seventh in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 57.38 seconds. Freshman Patrick Grogan was 12th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:15.44 while sophomore Sean McDonnell was 19th in 4:21.34.

In the field events, sophomore John Lesoine placed second in the hammer throw with a NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 30.23 meters (164 feet, nine inches), which is also a new Moravian record. Junior Matt Bowers was sixth in the event with a toss of 44.05 meters (144 feet, six inches) while sophomore Scott Williams took 19th at 32.05 meters (105 feet, two inches).

At MAC Championships – Second Day Results - 7th place

The Greyhounds are in seventh place after the second day of the 2002 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Susquehanna University. Senior Jim McIntyre paced three Moravian student-athletes that earned points for the team in the decathlon. McIntyre was fourth with a total of 5,225 points while junior Eric Paul was sixth with 5,020 points and freshman Dan Corey was eighth with 4,899 points. In preliminary track events, senior Kevin Bush had the top qualifying time in the 100 meters with a time of 10.92 seconds while freshman Scott Silvoy posted the top time in the 400-meter trials in 49.41 seconds. Silvoy was also third in the 200-meter trials in 22.10 seconds while Bush was fourth in 22.18 seconds. Sophomore Joe Moore also qualified for the 200-meter finals with a qualifying time of 22.43 seconds. Sophomore Steve Hartenstine qualified for finals in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.06 seconds. Hartenstine also took ninth in the 110-meter high hurdle trials in 15.88 seconds while freshman Matt Oertner took 13th in the 800-meter trials in 2:03.84. Junior Matt Plewinski placed 13th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:20.28 while sophomore John Lesoine finished ninth in the shot put with a toss of 12.26 meters (40 feet, 2 3/4 inches).

At MAC Championships – First Day Results - 5th place

Moravian opened the 2002 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Susquehanna University with a seventh place finish in the 10,000 meters by junior Wes Zimmerman in a time of 33:53.39. Zimmerman's time put the Greyhounds into fifth place as a team. Junior Justin Arnold was 12th in the 10,000 with a time of 36:22.42. After the first five events of the decathlon, Moravian senior Jim McIntyre is in second place with a total of 2,880 points. McIntyre won the shot put event. Junior Eric Paul is fifth with 2,779 points while freshman Dan Corey is seventh with 2,594 points.

At 108th Penn Relays – No Team Scores

The Greyhounds had two relay teams and one individual compete at the 108th Penn Relays hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. Moravian's 4x100-meter relay team of senior Kevin Bush, junior Brian Mack, sophomore Joe Moore and freshman Scott Silvoy placed seventh in their heat with a time of 43.30 seconds. Bush and Silvoy also ran in the 4x400-meter relay Pop Haddleton MAC race with senior Josh Heebner and junior George Wacker and placed fourth in a time of 3:23.23. Moore placed 17th in the college men long jump (Eastern) with a leap of 6.74 meters (22 feet, 1 1/2 inches).

At Lafayette Invitational – No Team Scores

Moravian had four individuals and one relay team place in the top six at the Lafayette College Invitational. The Greyhounds top individual finish was by sophomore John Lesoine, who placed third in the hammer throw with a toss of 44.06 meters (144 feet, seven inches), which breaks the school record. Junior Matt Bowers was fourth in the hammer throw at 42.90 meters (140 feet, nine inches), which is also further than the previous school mark. Sophomore Joe Grady took fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:14.75. Moravian's 4x100-meter relay team of senior Kevin Bush, junior Brian Mack, sophomore Joe Moore and freshman Scott Silvoy was third with a time of 42.33 seconds, one-one hundredth of a second faster than the school record set in 1992. Silvoy placed third in the 200 meters with an ECAC qualifying time of 22.15 seconds.

Silvoy also qualified for the ECAC Championships in the 100 meters with a time of 11.28 seconds. Bush qualified for the ECAC meet in the 100 meters in a time of 11.30 seconds and he qualified in the 200 meters in 22.45 seconds. Moore ran a 11.52-second race in the 100 meters and a 22.98-second race in the 200 meters. Mack posted a time of 11.60 seconds in the 100 meters. Junior Eric Paul ran a 53.72-second race in the 400 meters while senior Jim McIntyre had a time of 54.12 seconds. Sophomore Steve Hartenstine posted a time of 16.44 seconds in the 110-meter high hurdles and a time of 58.03 seconds in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles.

Junior George Wacker led the Greyhounds in the distance events, running a 2:00.65 in the 800 meters. Freshman Matt Oertner had a time of 2:03.97 in the 800. Freshman Patrick Grogan posted a 4:16.21 in the 1,500 meters while sophomore Sean McDonnell had a time of 4:23.41 and freshman Anthony Bisti ran a 4:53.56. Junior Wes Zimmerman had a time of 9:09.99 in the 3,000 meters while junior Justin Arnold posted a 9:38.14. Sophomore Joe Grady ran a 10:14.75 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase while junior Matt Plewinski had a time of 11:07.35.

Lesoine recorded a distance of 30.90 meters (101 feet, four inches) in the discus and he had a toss of 11.78 meters (38 feet, 7 3/4 inches) in the shot put. Sophomore Scott Williams threw the hammer 29.41 meters (96 feet, six inches) and he tossed the shot 9.78 meters (32 feet, one inch). Freshman Dan Corey recorded Moravian's best throw of the season in the javelin with a toss of 42.35 meters (138 feet, 11 inches).

Greyhound Invitational – Second Day Results – No Team Scores

The Greyhounds had four first place finishers, three Eastern College Athletic Conference qualifiers and one Steel Field and Breidegam Track record in Moravian's own Greyhound Invitational. Moravian also defeated rival Muhlenberg College, 95-80 in a meet for the annual Matte Award.

Freshman Scott Silvoy was part of three of Moravian's four first place finishes, winning the 200 meters in an ECAC qualifying time of 22.31 seconds and capturing the 400 meters with an ECAC qualifying standard of 49.11 seconds. Silvoy also ran on the first place 4x100-meter relay team with senior Kevin Bush, junior Brian Mack and sophomore Joe Moore that set the stadium record with a time of 42.70 seconds. Moore had the Greyhounds other first place finish with a ECAC qualifying jump of 6.99 meters (22 feet, 11 1/4 inches) in the long jump.

Other Moravian finishers in the sprint events included Bush taking second in his heat of the 100 meters in 11.39 seconds and senior Jim McIntyre running a time of 12.21 seconds. Bush also ran a 24.80 in the 200 meters. In the 400 meters, senior Josh Heebner posted a time of 52.83 seconds while freshman Dan Corey ran a 57.02 race. Sophomore Steve Hartenstine placed fifth in the first heat of the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 16.88 seconds while junior Eric Paul was third in the second heat in 19.02 seconds and Corey was fourth at 19.11 seconds. Hartenstine also placed fourth in the first heat of the 400-meter intermediate hurdles in 58.93 seconds while Paul was second in the third heat at 59.13 seconds.

Junior George Wacker had his best time of the season in the 800 meters with a 1:59.23 while freshman Anthony Bisti ran the 800 meters in 2:20.07. Freshman Patrick Grogan was tenth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:11.95 while junior Wes Zimmerman was fourth in the second heat at 4:24.44 and Bisti was ninth in the second heat at 4:43.81. Sophomore Joe Grady ran Moravian's best time of the year in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing sixth in 10:06.62 while junior Matt Plewinski was 13th in 10:53.00.

In the other relays, the Moravian 'B' team in the 4x100-meter relay of McIntyre, juniors Josh Fick and Jarrod Pence and freshman Michael Miltenberger was second in heat number two with a time of 46.69 seconds. Moravian's 4x400-meter relay team of McIntyre, Heebner, Wacker and Paul took third in the race with a time of 3:29.53 while the 4x800-meter relay squad of Grogan Grady, sophomore Sean McDonnell and freshman Matt Oertner was second in 8:17.86.

Moore was third in the high jump with a height of 1.73 meters (five feet, eight inches). Sophomore John Lesoine placed 21st in the discus with a toss of 31.11 meters (102 feet) while sophomore Scott Williams was 25th at 19.36 meters (63 feet, six inches). Lesoine also took 16th in the shot put with a distance of 11.23 meters (36 feet, 10 1/2 inches) while Williams was 18th at 9.55 meters (31 feet, four inches). McIntyre was eighth in the javelin with a throw of 41.25 meters (135 feet, four inches) while Corey took 11th at 36.90 meters (121 feet, one inch) and Paul was 13th with a throw of 33.50 meters (109 feet, 11 inches). Paul finished tenth in the long jump with a leap of 5.49 meters while Corey was sixth in the triple jump at 11.26 meters (36 feet, 11 1/2 inches).

Greyhound Invitational – First Day Results – No Team Scores

Junior Matt Bowers set a school record in the hammer throw to lead Moravian on the first day of the Greyhound Invitational at Steel Field. Bowers finished second the hammer event with a toss of 41.44 meters (135 feet, 11 inches), over four feet past his own previous school record. Sophomore John Lesoine took third in the hammer with a throw of 41.35 meters (135 feet, eight inches) while sophomore Scott Williams was eighth at 27.10 meters (88 feet, 11 inches). Junior Wes Zimmerman placed second in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:47.31.  Sophomore Marty Miller was fourth in the 10,000 meters in 35:19.19 while junior Justin Arnold was fifth with a time of 35:19.70. At Muhlenberg College Invitational – No Team Scores

For the second straight weekend, the Greyhounds competed in a meet at Muhlenberg College, this time in the non-scoring Muhlenberg Invitational. Moravian's top finisher was a sixth place by sophomore Scott Williams in the hammer throw with a toss of 28.62 meters (93 feet, 11 inches). Junior Eric Paul took eighth place in a pair of events. Paul was eighth in the 110-meter hurdles in 18.35 seconds and eighth in the long jump at 6.05 meters (19 feet, 10 1/4 inches) and he also placed 18th in the 400 meters in 54.96 seconds and 18th in the shot put at 9.19 meters (30 feet, two inches). Senior Jim McIntyre was 14th in the 400 meters in 53.73 seconds, 13th in the long jump at 5.65 meters (18 feet, 6 1/2 inches) and 16th in the shot put at 10.10 meters (33 feet, 1 3/4 inches). Freshman Dan Corey was ninth in the 110-meter hurdles in 18.96 seconds, 14th in the long jump at 5.60 meters (18 feet, 4 1/2 inches), 15th in the shot put at 10.41 meters (34 feet, two inches) and 28th in the 400 meters in 58.08 seconds.

Freshman Matt Oertner took eighth place in the 800 meters in 2:08.06. Sophomore Marty Miller placed 14th in the 5,000 meters in 16:52.08 while junior Justin Arnold was 15th in 16:57.69. Junior Matt Plewinski finished 19th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:44.57 while freshman Anthony Bisti was 21st in 4:50.33.

At Sam Howell Memorial Invitational hosted by Princeton – No Team Scores

Sophomore Joe Moore led the Moravian competitors on the second day of the Sam Howell Memorial Invitational hosted by Princeton University. Moore took third in the long jump with an Eastern College Athletic Conference qualifying leap of 6.85 meters (22 feet, 5 3/4 inches) and he teamed up with senior Kevin Bush, junior Brian Mack and freshman Scott Silvoy to win the team's heat of the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 44.35 seconds. Bush was second in his heat of the 400 meters with an ECAC qualifying time of 50.84 seconds. Senior Josh Heebner was third in his heat of the 400 meters in 52.34 seconds. Bush and Heebner joined Silvoy and junior George Wacker to place third in their heat of the 4x400-meter relay in 3:28.05. Sophomore Joe Grady placed third in his heat of the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:16.02 while Wacker was fifth in his heat of the 800 meters in 2:01.35.

At Sam Howell Memorial Invitational hosted by Princeton – No Team Scores

Junior Wes Zimmerman placed 31st with a time of 33:15.9 in the 10,000 meters in the first day of the Sam Howell Memorial Invitational hosted by Princeton University. Zimmerman was the only Greyhound competitor on the first day of competition.

At Lehigh Valley Championships hosted by Muhlenberg College – 5th of 6

Freshman sprinter Scott Silvoy qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships in a pair of to lead Moravian to a fifth place team finish at the Lehigh Valley Championships hosted by Muhlenberg College. Silvoy placed third in the 100 meters in 11.26 seconds and he was second in the 200 meters in 22.52 seconds. Senior Kevin Bush also qualified for the ECAC meet in the 200 meters, finishing third in 22.90 seconds. Bush was seventh in the 100 meters in 11.57 seconds. Junior Brian Mack was ninth in both the 100 and 200 meters finishing in 11.58 and 23.76 seconds. Sophomore Joe Moore posted a time of 11.75 seconds in the 100 meters while junior Eric Paul had a 24.66-second race in the 200 meters. Freshman Dan Corey ran 25.51 seconds in the 200 meters. The Greyhounds 4x100-meter relay team of Silvoy, Busch, Mack and Moore placed third in 43.40 seconds. 

Senior Josh Heebner placed fifth in the 400 meters, finishing in 51.97 seconds while senior Jim McIntyre was 17th in 59.76 seconds. Junior George Wacker placed third in the 800 meters in 2:02.14 while freshman Matt Oertner was sixth in 2:03.76 and sophomore Sean McDonnell was 11th in 2:05.94. Freshman Patrick Grogan had a fourth place finish in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:14.74 while sophomore Joe Grady was sixth in 4:17.05 and freshman Anthony Bisti was 16th in 4:45.98. Junior Wes Zimmerman placed fourth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:05.29 and he was followed by junior Justin Arnold in tenth place at 16:53.88 and sophomore Marty Miller in 18th place at 17:32.33. Junior Matt Plewinski was seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:16.55.

In the field events, Moore qualified for the ECAC Championships in the long jump with a leap of 6.65 meters (21 feet, ten inches), to place fourth.  He was also fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.57 meters (37 feet, 11 1/2 inches). Paul placed eighth in the long jump with a leap of 6.07 meters (19 feet, 11 inches) and Corey was 13th at 5.62 meters (18 feet, 5 1/4 inches). Junior Matt Bowers took second in the hammer throw with a toss of 41.05 meters (134 feet, eight inches) while sophomore John Lesoine was fourth at 40.17 meters (131 feet, nine inches). Sophomore Scott Williams took eighth at 28.73 meters (94 feet, three inches). Lesoine also finished ninth in the discus with a toss of 31.96 meters (104 feet, ten inches) and ninth in the shot put at 11.00 meters (36 feet, 1 1/4 inches). Corey was 12th in both events, throwing the discus 29.78 meters (97 feet, eight inches) and tossing the shot 10.14 meters (33 feet, 3 1/4 inches). Williams was 11th in the shot put with a distance of 10.25 meters (33 feet, 7 1/2 inches) while Paul was 14th in the discus at 27.19 meters (89 feet, two inches).

At 2002 ECAC Championships hosted by Tufts University –
Tied for 45th of 46 teams

The Greyhounds finished tied for 45th of 46 schools that scored points at the 2002 Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Tufts University.  The College of New Jersey won the ECAC Championship.  Moravian received its lone point from sophomore Joe Moore in the long jump on the first day of competition.  On the second day, senior sprinter Kevin Bush placed 19th in the 400 meters in a time of 51.50 seconds.  Bush teamed with senior Josh Heebner, junior George Wacker and freshman Scott Silvoy to place 11th in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:26.88. 

At 2002 ECAC Championships hosted by Tufts University – Tied for 26th of 29 teams after first day

Moravian had just one competitor on the first day of the 2002 ECAC Championships hosted by Tufts University and he earned the Greyhounds one point to put the team in 26th place.  Sophomore Joe Moore finished eighth in the long jump with a leap of 6.64 meters (21 feet, 9 1/2 inches). 

At 2002 MAC Championships hosted by Susquehanna University – 3rd of 10

Senior sprinter Kevin Bush was named the Men’s Most Outstanding Performer after winning the 200 and 400 meters in Middle Atlantic Conference record time and he helped the Greyhounds to a third place team finish at the 2002 MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.  Widener University captured the men’s championship with a score of 139.  Messiah College was second with 84 points while Moravian had a score of 68 for third place.  Bush, Moravian’s first Most Outstanding Performer since CJ Brown in 1996, won the 200 meters in a MAC record time and ECAC qualifying time of 22.68 seconds and he captured the 400 meters with a MAC record time and Eastern College Athletic Conference qualifying time of 50.41 seconds.  Bush also ran the anchor leg of the 4x400-meter relay and helped the team capture the MAC title in a MAC record time of 3:28.28.  Bush joined freshman Scott Silvoy, senior Josh Heebner and junior George Wacker on the 4x400-meter relay squad.  In Bush’s final event, he placed seventh in the 55 meters in 7.24 seconds.

The Greyhounds had two other MAC Individual Champions with sophomore Joe Moore winning the long jump with a distance of 7.04 meters (23 feet, 1 ¼ inches), a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying distance and an ECAC qualifying standard.  Heebner and Wacker joined with sophomore Joe Grady and freshman Patrick Grogan won the distance medley relay in a time of 10:41.17.

Following Bush in the 200 meters were Silvoy in second at 22.96 seconds, junior Eric Paul in 21st at 24.34 seconds and senior Jim McIntyre in 24th at 24.56 seconds.  Silvoy was also second to Bush in the 400 meters with a time of 52.02 seconds.  Sophomore Steve Hartenstine took eighth in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.39 seconds.  McIntyre, Paul, Heebner and Hartenstine placed seventh in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:36.6.

In the distance events, sophomore Sean McDonnell was ninth in the 800 meters in a time of 2:06.37 while Wacker was tenth at 2:10.16.  Grady was eighth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:14.44 while senior Chris DeWalt was 15th in 4:30.95, junior Justin Arnold in 20th at 4:34.85 and junior Matt Plewinski in 24th with a time of 4:42.40.  Junior Wes Zimmerman placed ninth in the 5,000 meters in 16:02.58.  Grady, Grogan and McDonnell combined with freshman Matt Oertner for a second place finish in the 4x800-meter relay in 8:19.21.

In the field throwing events, sophomore John Lesoine was seventh in the 35-lb weight throw with a toss of 13.39 meters (43 feet, 11 ¼ inches) and he was 12th in the shot put with a distance of 11.74 meters (38 feet, 6 ¼ inches).  Junior Matt Bowers was eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 13.25 meters (43 feet, 5 ¾ inches) while sophomore Scott Williams was 17th in the weight throw with a distance of 10.20 meters (33 feet, 5 ¾ meters).

At Keogh Invitational hosted by Haverford College – No Team Scores

Senior sprinter Kevin Bush and freshman sprinter Scott Silvoy each tied for second overall and tied for first in their heat of the 200 meters to lead Moravian at the Keogh Invitational hosted by Haverford College. Bush and Silvoy posted an Eastern College Athletic Conference qualifying time of 22.7 seconds in the race while junior Eric Paul and sophomore Steve Hartenstine each had time of 24.4 seconds and senior Jim McIntyre posted a rime of 24.5 seconds. Silvoy won his heat of the 400 meters in 51.5 seconds while Paul had a time of 53.9 seconds and McIntyre finished in 54.1 seconds. Silvoy ran a time of 6.9 seconds in the 55 meters while Hartenstine posted a time of 8.4 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles. Paul ran a 9.1 in the 55-meter hurdles. The Greyhounds 4x200-meter relay team of Hartenstine, Paul, McIntyre and senior Josh Heebner posted a time of 1.35.1.

In the distance events, junior George Wacker placed sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:01.5. Sophomore Sean McDonnell was 12th in the 800 with a time of 2:06.1 while freshman Matt Oertner was 13th in 2:06.3. Heebner posted a time of 2:16.7 in the race. Sophomore Joe Grady was 14th in the 1,500 meters with a season best time of 4:15.7 while junior Justin Arnold had a time of 4:32.3. Senior Chris DeWalt posted a time of 4:33.8 while freshman Anthony Bisti finished the race in 4:49.4. Junior Wes Zimmerman ran a time of 9:23.4 in the 3,000 meters.

In the field events, sophomore John Lesoine was 12th in the shot put with a toss of 11.90 meters (39 feet, ½ inch) while sophomore Scott Williams had a distance of 10.46 meters (34 feet, four inches) and freshman Dan Corey posted a 9.72 meters (31 feet, 10 ¼ inches).
At Bears Den Invitational hosted by Kutztown University – No Team Scores

At the Kutztown University Bears Den Invitational last Friday night, junior Matt Bowers placed third in the 35-lb weight throw with a school record toss of 13.50 meters (44 feet, 3 ½ inches).

At Robert J. Kane Invitational hosted by Cornell University – No Team Scores

Senior sprinter Kevin Bush won the 400 meters at the Robert J. Kane Invitational hosted by Cornell University. Bush posted a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time and an Eastern College Athletic Conference qualifying time of 49.98 seconds to win the race. In other sprint events, Bush placed first in his heat with a time of 7.24 seconds in the 60-meter dash while sophomore Joe Moore had a time of 7.47 seconds. Sophomore Steve Hartenstine was second in his heat of the 60-meter high hurdles with a time of 9.03 seconds. Freshman Scott Silvoy had a time of 51.78 second in the 400 meters and he posted Moravian’s best time of the season and an ECAC qualifying time of 23.26 seconds in the 200 meters. Hartenstine had a 24.51 in the 200 meters.

Freshman Patrick Grogan had his best time of the season in the mile race at 4:39.56 while sophomore Joe Grady had a time of 4:43.77. Junior George Wacker ran a time of 2:01.78 in the 800 meters while sophomore Sean McDonnell posted a 2:06.73. Junior Justin Arnold had a time of 17:36.84 in the 5,000 meters.

In the relay events, Moravian’s 4x400-meter squad of Bush, Silvoy, Wacker and junior Eric Paul had its best time of the season with a 3:31.51, good enough for second place in its heat. The Greyhounds 4x800-meter relay team of Grogan, Grady, McDonnell and freshman Matt Oertner had a time of 8:33.17.

Moore jumped a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying and ECAC qualifying distance of 6.99 meters (22 feet, 11 ¼ inches) in the long jump to lead Moravian in the field events. Junior Matt Bowers and sophomore John Lesoine both had a distance of 11.77 meters (38 feet, 7 ½ inches) in the 35-lb. weight throw. Lesoine also posted a distance of 11.43 meters (37 feet, six inches) in the shot put while sophomore Scott Williams had a distance of 10.02 meters (32 feet, 10 ½ inches).

At Ursinus Invitational – No Team Scores

Moravian competed at the Ursinus College Invitational last weekend.  In the sprint events, freshman Scott Silvoy was second in his heat of the 55-meter dash in 6.7 seconds.  Junior Eric Paul was also second in his heat of the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.0 seconds while sophomore Joe Moore placed third in his heat at 7.1 seconds.  Moore placed third in his heat of the 200 meters in 24.1 seconds with Paul placing just behind him in fourth at 24.4. seconds.  In the distance events, sophomore Sean McDonnell was seventh in his head of the 800 meters in 2:05.3 while junior George Wacker placed seventh in his heat in 2:06.3.  Junior Matt Plewinski posted a time of 2:14.1 in the 800 meters while freshman Anthony Bisti ran a 2:26.0 in the race.  Wacker was ninth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:20.06 while freshman Patrick Grogan was tenth in 4:20.56.  Sophomore Joe Grady ran a 4:27.13 in the 1,500 meters while Plewinski posted a time of 4:41.89 and freshman Matt Oertner has a time of 4:44.55.  Junior Wes Zimmerman placed fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:34.37. 

In the relays, Moravian’s 4x400 “A” team of was fifth in its heat in 3:37.4 while the “B” Team of was sixth in 3:39.7.  In the field events, Moore placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 6.21 meters (20 feet, 4 ½ inches) while senior Jim McIntyre posted a distance of 5.39 meters (17 feet, 8 ¼ inches).  Sophomore John Lesoine had a toss of 11.33 meters (37 feet, 1 ¼ inches) in the shot put while sophomore Scott Williams posted a distance of 9.80 meters (32 feet, two inches).  Freshman Dan Corey had a toss of 9.15 meters (30 feet, ¼ inch).

At Potomac Valley USATF Collegiate Invitational – No Team Scores

Senior Kevin Bush had an outstanding day to lead the Greyhounds at the Potomac Valley USATF Collegiate Invitational at the Prince George's Sports Complex in Landover, Maryland. Bush won his heat of the 400 meters and finished fourth overall in an Eastern College Athletic Conference qualifying time of 50.39 seconds. Bush also posted season best times in the 200 meters in 23.63 seconds and the 60-meter high hurdles in 7.16 seconds. Freshman Patrick Grogan had a time of 4:40.01 in the mile race while sophomore Steve Hartenstine had a 55.27-second race in the 400 meters. Sophomore John Lesoine was seventh in the 35-lb. weight throw with a toss of 12.54 meters (41 feet, 1 3/4 inches) and he had a distance of 11.17 meters (36 feet, 7 3/4 inches) in the shot put. Junior Matt Bowers had a distance of 12.38 meters (40 feet, 7 1/2 inches) in the weight throw while sophomore Joe Moore finished eighth in the long jump with a leap of 6.20 meters (20 feet, 1 1/4 inches).

At Haverford College Invitational – No Team Scores

The Greyhounds sent ten competitors to the Haverford College Invitational with the best individual finish coming from senior Kevin Bush in the 400 meters.  Bush won his heat in 50.6 seconds and was third overall in the event. Bush also ran a 6.5 second race in the 55 meters, which was tied for fourth. Junior Eric Paul was the fastest Greyhound in the 200 meters, finishing with a time of 24.1 seconds and he also competed in the shot put with a toss of 9.56 meters (31 feet, 4 1/2 inches). Sophomore Steve Hartenstine ran a 24.6 second race in the 200 meters and he posted a time of 8.4 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles. Senior Jim McIntyre had a time of 25.2 seconds in the 200 meters and he also had a throw of 9.34 meters (30 feet, 7 3/4 inches) in the shot put. Freshman Pat Grogan competed in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:22.8 while junior Matt Plewinski posted a 4:53.3 and freshman Anthony Bisti had a time of 4:59.2. Junior George Wacker placed 16th in the 800 meters in 2:04.4 while sophomore Sean McDonnell had a time of 2:07.7. Rounding out the Moravian competitors was sophomore John Lesoine with a tenth place finish in the shot put with a toss of 11.56 meters (37 feet, 11 1/2 inches).

At Rutgers University Invitational – No Team Scores

Moravian had two competitors travel to Rutgers University to compete in the first invitational of the new year.  Junior George Wacker placed fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:05.5 while junior Matt Bowers was sixth in the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 12.82 meters.

At Lafayette College Invitational – No Team Scores

The Greyhounds opened their 2001-02 indoor season at the non-scoring Lafayette College Invitational.  Moravian had just one competitor finish in the top three with freshman Pat Grogan taking third in the mile with a time of 4:40.7.
