Vs. #6 Grove City College in ECAC South
Championship Lost 3-1
The Greyhounds came up short in their first attempt to win an Eastern
College Athletic Conference South Championship as top seeded Moravian
fell to sixth seed Grove City College, 30-24, 17-30, 24-30, 26-30 in
the 2001 ECAC South Championships at Moravian. Sophomore outside
hitter Kim Zipf led the Greyhounds with 18 kills, 20 digs and four
service aces while sophomore setter Amy Lawrence had 36 assists and
24 digs. Sophomore right side hitter Sara Hollenbacher added
ten kills in the match while sophomore defensive specialist Andrea
Frankenfield had 14 digs and two service aces. Sophomore middle
hitter Shannon McNeil contributed nine kills in the final match of
the season while junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz had 18 digs
and seven kills. The Greyhounds complete the 2001 season with
a 25-9 record, the sixth straight 20-win season for Moravian.
Vs. #4 Rutgers University-Newark in ECAC South
Semifinal Won 3-1
Sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf had 17 kills, 20 digs and five service
aces to lead the top seeded Greyhounds to a 25-30, 30-16, 30-27, 30-22
victory over fourth seeded Rutgers University at Newark in the semifinals
of the 2001 Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships. Junior
outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz added 12 kills and 22 digs while sophomore
middle hitter Shannon McNeil had 14 kills. Sophomore setter Amy
Lawrence had 49 assists and 12 digs while senior defensive specialist
Krystol Kessack had 20 digs.
At Juniata College in Commonwealth Conference Finals Lost
3-1
The Greyhounds, playing Juniata College for the sixth straight year
in the conference championship match, fell to the Eagles, 23-30, 30-28,
15-30, 16-30 in the 2001 Commonwealth Conference Championship contest. Juniata
has won 245 straight conference matches and the last 21 conference
titles. Moravian currently has a 24-8 record and will await a
call from the NCAA or the ECAC for more postseason action. Sophomore
outside hitter Kim Zipf had 18 kills and 15 digs to lead the Greyhounds
in the contest. Sophomore setter Amy Lawrence had 30 assists
and 12 digs while junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz had five kills
and ten digs.
Vs. Susquehanna University in Commonwealth Conference
Semifinals Won 3-1
Sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf had 21 kills and 14 digs to lead
the Moravian College women’s volleyball team to a 22-30, 30-24,
30-18, 30-17 victory over Susquehanna University in the Commonwealth
Conference semifinals. The Greyhounds, seeded second in the tournament,
improve to 24-7 on the season and will travel to Juniata College, the
top seed in the tournament, for the Commonwealth Conference Championship
match on Saturday, November 3rd beginning at 7:00 p.m. Juniata,
ranked eighth in the nation, defeated Lebanon Valley College, 30-9,
30-8, 30-15 in Wednesday’s other semifinal. Susquehanna
sees its season end with a 23-8 record. Moravian will be facing
Juniata for the sixth straight year in the conference championship
match. The Eagles, who have won 244 consecutive conference matches
and the last 20 conference titles, will bring a record of 25-8 into
the contest. In the match versus Susquehanna, sophomore setter
Amy Lawrence controlled the Moravian offense with 46 assists and she
added ten digs and three service aces. Sophomore right side hitter
Sara Hollenbacher had 12 kills and four blocks while sophomore middle
hitter Shannon McNeil added eight kills. Freshman outside hitter
Christina Wallace had seven kills and seven digs while sophomore defensive
specialist Alissa Bucsi added 13 digs. Senior defensive specialist
Krystol Kessack and sophomore defensive specialist Andrea Frankenfield
each added three service aces and seven digs in the match.
At DeSales University Won 3-0
The Greyhounds closed out the 2001 regular season with a 30-15, 30-11,
30-22 victory at DeSales University. Freshman outside hitter
Christina Wallace led the Greyhounds with nine kills while sophomore
middle hitter Shannon McNeil had eight kills and sophomore outside
hitter Kim Zipf had seven kills. Sophomore setter Amy Lawrence
ran the offense with 33 assists and she added 11 digs. Senior
defensive specialist Krystol Kessack contributed 11 digs while sophomore
defensive specialist Alissa Bucsi had eight service aces. Sophomore
defensive specialist Andrea Frankenfield had ten digs. Sophomore
right side hitter Sara Hollenbacher and sophomore outside hitter Mary
Kate Cordisco each had six kills in the match.
Vs. Susquehanna University at Elizabethtown College
Halloween Classic Lost 3-1
For the third time this season, sophomores outside hitter Kim Zipf
and setter Amy Lawrence were named to the same All-Tournament Team
even though the Greyhounds lost their final match of the Elizabethtown
College Halloween Classic, 27-30, 27-30, 30-26, 21-30 to Susquehanna
University. It was the fourth All-Tournament selection of the
season for Lawrence. Moravian will meet Susquehanna again on
Wednesday as the two squads will battle in Bethlehem in the Commonwealth
Conference Semifinals. Zipf had15 kills and 22 digs in the match
while Lawrence added 40 assists and 19 digs. Sophomore middle
hitter Shannon McNeil added 12 kills while junior outside hitter Sara
Walkiewicz had eight kills, seven digs and three service aces. Sophomore
defensive specialist Andrea Frankenfield had five service aces and
eight digs for the Greyhounds in the match while senior defensive specialist
Krystol Kessack had 18 digs.
Vs. Franklin & Marshall College at Elizabethtown
College Halloween Classic Won 3-1
The Greyhounds avenged an earlier season loss with a 32-30, 30-22,
24-30, 30-25 victory over Franklin & Marshall College at the Elizabethtown
College Halloween Classic. Sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf
paced Moravian with 18 kills and 21 digs while junior outside hitter
Sara Walkiewicz had 12 kills and 19 digs. Sophomore setter Amy
Lawrence ran the Greyhound offense with 57 assists and she added 17
digs. Sophomore middle hitter Shannon McNeil had 12 kills while
sophomore right side hitter Sara Hollenbacher had ten kills. Senior
defensive specialist Krystol Kessack contributed 14 digs and three
service aces in the win.
Vs. Haverford College at Elizabethtown College Halloween
Classic Won 3-1
Sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf had 29 kills and 24 digs to lead
the Greyhounds to a 28-30, 30-19, 30-28, 30-17 victory over Haverford
College at the Elizabethtown College Halloween Classic. Sophomore
setter Amy Lawrence added 54 assists, 17 digs four service aces while
junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz had ten kills, 16 digs and three
service aces. Sophomore right side hitter Sara Hollenbacher contributed
eight kills while senior defensive specialist Krystol Kessack had 18
digs and three service aces. Sophomore defensive specialist Alissa
Bucsi added 14 digs in the victory while sophomore middle hitter Shannon
McNeil and sophomore outside hitter Mary Kate Cordisco each had five
kills.
Vs. Wilkes University at Elizabethtown College
Halloween Classic Won 3-0
The Greyhounds earned a 30-23, 30-8, 30-27 victory over Wilkes University
in the first day of the Elizabethtown College Halloween Classic. The
victory gives the Greyhounds a sixth straight 20-win season with a
current mark of 20-6. Sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf had nine
kills and ten digs to lead Moravian while sophomore setter Amy Lawrence
added 26 assists and nine digs. Senior defensive specialist Krystol
Kessack contributed six service aces and seven digs in the match while
sophomores middle hitter Shannon McNeil and right side hitter Sara
Hollenbacher each adding eight kills. Junior outside hitter Sara
Walkiewicz led Moravian with 12 digs and she added six kills.
At Messiah College Won 3-2
Sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf had 23 kills and 30 digs to lead
the Moravian College women’s volleyball team to a 28-30, 30-15,
30-15, 29-31, 15-8 victory over Messiah College in Commonwealth Conference
action. Sophomore setter Amy Lawrence had 49 assists and 31 digs
while sophomore middle hitter Shannon McNeil had seven kills, nine
digs and five blocks. Junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz added
17 kills and 20 digs while sophomore defensive specialist Andrea Frankenfield
had 16 digs and six service aces. Sophomore outside hitter Mary
Kate Cordisco contributed eight kills and seven digs while sophomore

Vs. Richard Stockton College of New Jersey Won
3-1
The Greyhounds defeated Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, 30-10,
30-26, 27-30, 30-10 in their final regular season contest of the 2001
season. Sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf led Moravian, which
had a .409 hitting percentage in the match, with 16 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore
setter Amy Lawrence ran the Greyhound offense with 42 assists and eight
digs. Sophomore middle hitter Shannon McNeil had 15 kills while
senior defensive specialist Krystol Kessack led the Greyhounds with
15 digs. Junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz contributed 12
kills and eight digs while sophomore outside hitter Mary Kate Cordisco
had nine kills, nine digs, four service aces and three blocks. Freshman
middle hitter Christina Wallace added seven kills and seven digs in
the match while sophomore defensive specialist Alissa Bucsi had nine

Vs. Susquehanna University Won 3-1
Sophomore middle hitter Shannon McNeil had 16 kills to lead the Greyhounds
to a 30-22, 28-30, 30-28, 30-25 victory over Susquehanna University
in Commonwealth Conference action. The victory lifts Moravian
into sole possession of second place in the Commonwealth Conference
with a record of 5-1. Junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz contributed
15 kills and 21 digs in the match while sophomore outside hitter Kim
Zipf had 14 kills and 26 digs. Sophomore setter Amy Lawrence
ran the Moravian offense with 44 assists and she added nine digs while
senior defensive specialist Krystol Kessack had 13 digs and seven service
aces. Sophomore defensive specialist Andrea Frankenfield had
13 digs.
Vs. Western Maryland College at Western Maryland
Tournament Won 3-1
Sophomore middle hitter Shannon McNeil had 14 kills and six blocks
to lead the Greyhounds to a 30-19, 27-30, 30-17, 30-21victory over
host Western Maryland College to finish the Western Maryland College
Tournament. Junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz added 13 kills
and 13 digs while sophomore outside hitter Mary Kate Cordisco contributed
11 kills and 17 digs. Sophomore setter Amy Lawrence, who was
named to the All-Tournament Team, ran the offense with 43 assists and
she added 16 digs and four service aces. Senior defensive specialist
Krystol Kessack had 21 digs while sophomore defensive specialist Alissa
Bucsi had 12 kills. Junior middle hitter Vicki Fisher and sophomore
right side hitter Sara Hollenbacher each had seven kills in the match.
Vs. Wheaton (IL) College at Western Maryland Tournament Lost

The Greyhounds opened the second day of the Western Maryland College
Tournament with a 28-30, 26-30, 22-30 loss to Wheaton (IL) College. Sophomore
outside hitter Mary Kate Cordisco led Moravian with 11 kills, ten digs
and three blocks while sophomore setter Amy Lawrence had 30 assists,
five kills and 15 digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Alissa
Bucsi had 19 digs while senior defensive specialist Krystol Kessack
added 15 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Shannon McNeil had eight
kills while sophomore right side hitter Sara Hollenbacher contributed
seven kills. Junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz added ten
digs and six hills while sophomore defensive specialist Andrea Frankenfield
had ten digs.
Vs. Bridgewater (VA) College at Western Maryland Tournament Won

Sara Hollenbacher each had 13 kills to lead the Greyhounds to a 30-28,
31-29, 21-30, 30-26 victory over Bridgewater (VA) College in the second
match of the first day of the Western Maryland College Tournament. Walkiewicz
had 15 digs while sophomore defensive specialist Andrea Frankenfield
added 13 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Mary Kate Cordisco added
eight kills and 13 digs while sophomore setter Amy Lawrence had 31
assists, nine digs and five service aces. Sophomore defensive
specialist Alissa Bucsi had six service aces and ten digs while senior
defensive specialist Krystol Kessack added ten digs.
Vs. Franklin & Marshall College at Western
Maryland Tournament Lost 3-1
The Greyhounds dropped a tough 3-1 match with regionally ranked Franklin & Marshall
College, 25-30, 26-30, 30, 28, 24-30 in the opening match of the Western
Maryland College Tournament. Moravian was ranked fourth in the
latest NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll while F&M was
ranked eighth. Junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz and sophomore
outside hitter Kim Zipf each had 13 kills to lead the Greyhounds. Zipf
added 21 digs while sophomore middle hitter Shannon McNeil had 12 kills
and five blocks. Sophomore right side hitter Sara Hollenbacher
had ten kills while sophomore setter Amy Lawrence had 41 assists, 11
digs and seven kills.
Vs. Elizabethtown College Won 3-0
Sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf had 18 kills and 11 digs to lead
Moravian to a 30-13, 30-16, 30-22 victory over Elizabethtown College
in Commonwealth Conference action. Sophomore setter Amy Lawrence
added 40 assists and 11 digs while junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz
had 13 kills, 11 digs and three service aces. Senior defensive
specialist Krystol Kessack added 11 digs and three service aces while
sophomore outside hitter Mary Kate Cordisco had ten digs. Sophomore

At Lebanon Valley College Won 3-0
The Greyhounds won their third Commonwealth Conference match of the
season, defeating Lebanon Valley College, 30-20, 30-24, 30-26. Sophomore
middle hitter Shannon McNeil had 12 kills and two blocks to lead the
Greyhounds while junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz had 11 kills
and six digs. Sophomore outside hitter Kim Zip contributed nine
digs and eight kills while sophomore right side hitter Sara Hollenbacher
had seven kills. Sophomore setter Amy Lawrence ran the Moravian
offense with 32 assists and she added three service aces.
At Muhlenberg College Won 3-1
Moravian snapped a two-match losing streak with a 30-32, 30-19, 32-30,
30-22 victory over rival Muhlenberg College in non-conference action. Sophomore
outside hitter Kim Zipf led the Greyhounds with 18 kills and nine digs
while junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz had 11 kills. Sophomore
setter Amy Lawrence had 38 assists with sophomore defensive specialist
Alissa Bucsi contributed 11 digs and five service aces. Sophomore
middle hitter Shannon McNeil added nine kills and two blocks in the
match while sophomore right side hitter Sara Hollenbacher had six kills.
At Juniata College Lost 3-1
The Greyhounds were able to take one game from nationally-ranked Juniata
College but it wasn't enough as Moravian fell to the Eagles, 19-30,
24-30, 31-29, 15-30 in Commonwealth Conference action. For Moravian,
sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf had 13 kills and eight digs while
sophomore outside hitter Mary Kate Cordisco added 11 kills. Sophomore
setter Amy Lawrence had 40 assists and nine digs while senior defensive
specialist Krystol Kessack added nine digs. Junior outside hitter
Sara Walkiewicz contributed eight kills while sophomore right side
hitter Sara Hollenbacher and sophomore middle hitter Shannon McNeil
each had seven kills in the loss.
Vs. Kutztown University of Pennsylvania Lost

The Kutztown University women’s volleyball team extended its
winning streak to seven and snapped Moravian’s streak at three
straight with a 27-30, 28-30, 30-20, 26-30 victory over the Greyhounds
in non-conference action. Moravian sophomore outside hitter Kim
Zipf led the Greyhounds with 13 kills and she added 11 digs in the
match as junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz had nine kills and 13
digs. Sophomore middle hitter Shannon McNeil had 13 kills in
the match while sophomore setter Amy Lawrence had 46 assists and six
digs. Senior defensive specialist Krystol Kessack and sophomore
defensive specialist Alissa Bucsi each had 11 digs and four service
aces in the match. Sophomore right side hitter Sara Hollenbacher
added nine kills.
At King's College Won 3-2
Moravian rallied from a 2-1 deficit and three match points in the
fourth game to earn a 30-27, 19-30, 19-30, 33-31, 15-8 victory over
King’s College in non-conference action. Junior outside
hitter Sara Walkiewicz led Moravian with 22 kills while sophomore outside
hitter Kim Zipf added 21 kills and 23 digs. Sophomore setter
Amy Lawrence ran the Greyhound offense with 63 assists while sophomore
middle hitter Shannon McNeil had 13 kills. Sophomore right side
hitter Sara Hollenbacher contributed 10 kills in the match while senior
defensive specialist Krystol Kessack had 12 digs.
Vs. Albright College Won 3-0
Behind 25 assists and nine digs from sophomore setter Amy Lawrence,
the Moravian College women’s volleyball team earned a 30-11,
30-10, 30-8 victory over Albright College in Commonwealth Conference
action. Sophomore middle hitter Shannon McNeil led Moravian with
seven kills and three blocks while sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf
and sophomore right side hitter Sara Hollenbacher each had six kills. Senior
defensive specialist Krystol Kessack added nine digs and four service
aces.
Vs. Widener University Won 3-0
Moravian opened the 2001 Commonwealth Conference season with a 30-16,
30-16, 30-21 victory over Widener University. Junior outside
hitter Sara Walkiewicz, sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf and sophomore
middle hitter Shannon McNeil each had 11 kills in the match while sophomore
defensive specialist Alissa Bucsi added 11 digs. Walkiewicz had
eight digs while Zipf added seven digs. Sophomore setter Amy
Lawrence contributed 40 assists and seven digs while senior defensive
specialist Krystol Kessack had six service aces.
Vs. Gettysburg College at Gettysburg Battlefield
Classic Lost 3-0
The Greyhounds had their five match winning streak snapped in the
championship game of the championship bracket at the Gettysburg Battlefield
Classic in a 19-30, 24-30, 15-30 loss to host Gettysburg College. Sophomore
outside hitter Kim Zipf led Moravian with 12 kills and nine digs while
sophomore setter Amy Lawrence had 24 assists and four service aces. Zipf
and Lawrence were named to the All-Tournament Team for the second straight
weekend. Senior defensive specialist Krystol Kessack had ten
digs and four service aces in the match while sophomore middle hitter
Shannon McNeil had five kills and two blocks.
Vs. John Hopkins University at Gettysburg Battlefield
Classic Won 3-0
Moravian won its pool of the championship bracket with a 30-22, 30-21,
30-18 victory over Johns Hopkins University to move into the championship
final versus Gettysburg College. Sophomore right side hitter
Sara Hollenbacher led the Greyhounds against Johns Hopkins with 15
kills and she added six digs. Sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf
added 11 kills and six digs while junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz
had seven kills, seven service aces and eight digs. Sophomore
middle hitter Shannon McNeil added nine kills while senior defensive
specialist Krystol Kessack led Moravian with 11 digs. Sophomore
setter Amy Lawrence had 45 assists, six digs and two service aces in
Moravian's 3-0 win.
Vs. Lycoming College at Gettysburg Battlefield Classic Won
3-0
The Greyhounds opened the championship bracket pool play with a 30-28,
30-23, 30-19 victory over Lycoming College. Sophomore outside
hitter Kim Zipf had 14 kills and eight digs in the match while junior
outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz added 10 kills. Sophomore right
side hitter Sara Hollenbacher added nine kills and three blocks while
sophomore middle hitter Shannon McNeil had seven kills and five blocks. Sophomore
setter Amy Lawrence contributed 37 assists, four service aces and seven
digs while sophomore defensive specialist Alissa Bucsi had three service
aces. Senior defensive specialist Krystol Kessack led the Greyhounds
with nine digs.
Vs. Western Maryland College at Gettysburg Battlefield

The Greyhounds ran their winning streak to four straight matches with
a 30-16, 30-23, 30-17 victory over Western Maryland College on the
first day of the Gettysburg College Battlefield Classic. Sophomore
outside hitter Kim Zipf had 11 kills and seven digs while junior outside
hitter Sara Walkiewicz had ten kills, nine digs and two service aces. Sophomore
outside hitter Sara Hollenbacher added six kills in the match while
sophomore defensive specialist Alissa Bucsi had three service aces. Sophomore
setter Amy Lawrence contributed 26 assists and five digs.
Vs. Goucher (MD) College at Gettysburg Battlefield
Classic Won 3-0
Moravian opened the 2001 Gettysburg College Battlefield Classic with
a 30-11, 30-17, 30-10 victory over Goucher College. Sophomore
outside hitter Kim Zipf led the Greyhounds with nine kills and five
digs while junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz had seven kills and
five service aces. Sophomore middle hitter Shannon McNeil had
six kills while sophomore setter Amy Lawrence contributed 27 assists
and six service aces. Senior defensive specialist Krystol Kessack
had six digs in the win.
At University of Scranton Won 3-0
The Greyhounds earned their second straight victory with a 30-12,
30-25, 30-20 victory over the University of Scranton. Sophomore
outside hitter Kim Zipf, who was named the Commonwealth Conference
Player of the Week, led the Greyhounds with 14 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore
setter Amy Lawrence added 29 assists and 13 digs while sophomore defensive
specialist Alissa Bucsi had five service aces. Moravian had 13
service aces in the match. Freshman middle Kim Horvath contributed
eight kills.
Vs. Gallaudet University at Messiah College Tournament Won
3-1
Moravian closed out the 2001 Messiah College Tournament with a 30-28,
34-32, 28-30, 30-15 victory over Gallaudet University. Sophomore
outside hitter Kim Zipf, who was named to the All-Tournament Team,
had 14 kills and 23 digs while sophomore setter Amy Lawrence, who also
earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team, had 33 assists and 12 digs. Junior
outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz had seven kills and 13 digs while sophomore
middle hitter Shannon McNeil had seven kills and five blocks. Moravian
placed third in the Messiah Tournament.
Vs. Roberts Wesleyan College at Messiah College Tournament Lost
3-0
The Greyhounds suffered their first loss of the season, falling to
NAIA powerhouse Roberts Wesleyan College 26-30, 28-30, 23-30 at the
Messiah College Tournament. Sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf
had 12 kills and 13 digs in the match while sophomore setter Amy Lawrence
had 31 assists. Senior defensive specialist Krystol Kessack added
13 digs.
Vs. Savannah College of Art & Design at Messiah
College Tournament Won 3-1
Moravian won its opening match on day two of the Messiah College Tournament,
defeating Savannah College of Art & Design, 30-27, 23-30, 30-15,
30-12. Sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf had 13 kills and 12
digs while sophomore setter Amy Lawrence added 45 assists and nine
digs. Sophomore right side hitter Sara Hollenbacher had 12 kills,
17 digs and three blocks and freshman middle hitter Kim Horvath added
nine kills and 4 blocks. Junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz
contributed 10 kills, 14 digs and five service aces.
Vs. Philadelphia Biblical University at Messiah
College Tournament Won 3-0
The Greyhounds opened the 2001 season with a 30-15, 30-19, 30-14 victory
over Philadelphia Biblical University in the Messiah College Tournament. The
NCAA has gone to rally scoring in all matches this season. Sophomore
setter Amy Lawrence had 23 assists and nine digs for Moravian while
sophomore outside hitter Kim Zipf added nine kills and ten digs. Freshman
middle hitter Kim Horvath had seven kills and five blocks in her first
collegiate match while sophomore setter Andrea Frankenfield added six
service aces and six digs. Junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz
had five kills and six digs.
