For the second straight season, the Greyhounds had their season ended with a loss in the ECAC South Championship match as top-seeded Moravian fell to second seed and host Carnegie Mellon University 16-30, 15-30, 21-30. Junior outside hitter Kim Zipf had seven kills and five digs while senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz had four kills and four digs. Junior setter Amy Lawrence contributed 14 assists and ten digs. Junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil and freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa each had two blocks in the contest.

Vs. Lebanon Valley College in ECAC South Semifinals – Won 3-0

Moravian, the top seed in the ECAC South Championship Tournament for the second straight year, moved into the title match with a 30-23, 30-26, 31-29 victory over fourth-seeded Lebanon Valley College in the ECAC South Semifinals. Senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz led the Greyhounds with 13 kills and she added six digs while junior outside hitter Kim Zipf and freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa both had ten kills in the match. Zipf added 12 digs while Siracusa had five blocks in the contest. Junior setter Amy Lawrence ran the offense with 40 assists and she contributed four service aces, nine digs and two blocks while junior defensive specialist Andrea Frankenfield had 13 digs and three service aces. Junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil added six kills while junior libero Alissa Bucsi had seven digs.

At Juniata College in Commonwealth Championship – Lost 3-0

For the seventh consecutive season, Moravian had its conference postseason ended by Juniata College in the Commonwealth Conference Championship match. The Eagles, which have won every conference title since 1981 and have won 254 consecutive matches against conference opponents, earned a 21-30, 18-30, 20-30 victory over the Greyhounds. Junior outside hitter Kim Zipf paced Moravian with 11 kills and ten digs while junior setter Amy Lawrence had 24 assists and four kills. Freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa had seven kills, two service aces and a block while junior libero Alissa Bucsi had 13 digs in the match. The Greyhounds will find out on Monday, November 11th in the squad has qualified for the ECAC South Championships for the second straight season.

Vs. Messiah College in Commonwealth Semifinals – Won 3-2

Moravian extended its winning streak to six straight matches and the second-seeded Greyhounds moved into the Commonwealth Conference Championship match for the seventh consecutive year with a 30-25, 30-23, 26-30, 26-30, 16-14 victory over third-seeded Messiah College. Moravian will now play top-seeded Juniata College on Saturday, November 9th at 7:00 p.m. for the Commonwealth Conference Championship and the chance at an automatic berth into the upcoming NCAA Division III Tournament. Moravian junior outside hitter Kim Zipf paced the Greyhounds with 26 kills and 17 digs in the match while junior setter Amy Lawrence had 57 assists, 12 digs and four blocks. Freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa had 11 kills, six digs and five blocks while junior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz added nine kills and nine digs. Junior libero Alissa Bucsi contributed 16 digs while junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil had eight kills in the five-set victory. The start of the match with Messiah was delayed nearly three hours as the Falcons were stuck in traffic as a local interstate was shut down by an accident.

Vs. Susquehanna University at Elizabethtown Blue Jay Classic – Won 3-2

The Greyhounds captured the championship of the Elizabethtown College Blue Jay Classic, defeating Susquehanna University, 30-16, 23-30, 24-30, 30-23, 15-8. Moravian had four players named to the All-Tournament team with junior setter Amy Lawrence, freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa, sophomore outside hitter Christina Wallace and junior libero/defensive specialist Alissa Bucsi making the squad. Lawrence led the Greyhounds with 51 assists, 14 digs and four service aces in the championship match while Siracusa had 16 kills and eight digs. Wallace contributed 13 kills and six digs while Bucsi had 12 digs. Senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz also added 11 kills and 14 digs while junior outside hitter Kim Zipf had ten kills and 16 digs.

Moravian won its second match on the second day of the Elizabethtown College Blue Jay Classic with a 30-22, 30-20, 30-20 victory over Washington (MD) College. Senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz paced Moravian with 14 kills and 13 digs while sophomore outside hitter Christina Wallace had 11 kills, 13 digs and two service aces. Junior setter Amy Lawrence ran the Moravian offense with 43 assists and she added 15 digs and three service aces. Junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil had nine kills while freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa had seven kills.

The Greyhounds opened the second day of the 2002 Elizabethtown College Blue Jay Classic with a 31-29, 30-26, 30-20 victory over host Elizabethtown College. Sophomore outside hitter Christina Wallace led Moravian with 19 kills and she had eight digs while senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz and freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa both had 14 kills. Walkiewicz added ten digs while Siracusa had three blocks. Junior setter Amy Lawrence had 44 assists, 15 digs and three service aces while junior libero Alissa Bucsi contributed 12 digs.

Moravian won its second match on the opening day of the Elizabethtown College Blue Jay Classic, defeating Salisbury (MD) University, 30-24, 26-30, 30-14, 28-30, 15-4. Sophomore outside hitter Christina Wallace paced the Greyhounds with 22 kills and she added four blocks and two service aces. Freshman middle hitter Lindsay Siracusa had 17 kills and four blocks while senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz added 12 kills and 11 digs. Junior setter Amy Lawrence contributed 48 assists, nine digs and two service aces in the victory while junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil had nine kills and three blocks. Junior right side hitter Sara Hollenbacher contributed seven kills while junior libero Alissa Bucsi added 15 digs.

The Greyhounds won their 20th match of the season, defeating Ursinus College, 30-20, 30-11, 30-16 to open the Elizabethtown College Blue Jay Classic. Moravian has now won at least 20 matches in each of the last seven seasons. Senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz led the Greyhounds in the match with 13 kills and five service aces. Freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa had eight kills and four service aces while junior setter Amy Lawrence contributed 28 assists and three service aces. Sophomore outside hitter Christina Wallace added six kills and a pair of service aces while junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil had five kills and two blocks. Junior defensive specialist Andrea Frankenfield had three service aces in the victory.

Vs. Messiah College – Lost 3-1

Moravian dropped a 3-1 decision to Messiah College to close out the 2002 Commonwealth Conference regular season. The two squads will meet next Wednesday, November 6th back at Moravian for the 2002 Commonwealth Conference Semifinals with the Greyhounds as the second seed and Messiah earned the third seed. Freshman middle hitter Lindsay Siracusa paced Moravian with 16 kills and five blocks and Siracusa had eight digs while junior outside hitter Kim Zipf had 13 kills and 21 digs. Junior libero Alissa Bucsi led Moravian with 22 digs while junior setter Amy Lawrence contributed 41 assists, 13 digs and three blocks. Junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil added six kills and three service aces while sophomore outside hitter Christina Wallace had five kills, seven digs and two service aces. The Greyhounds moved a step closer to clinching a home playoff berth in the upcoming 2002 Commonwealth Conference playoffs with a 30-21, 30-28, 30-21 victory over Susquehanna University in Commonwealth Conference action. Moravian, which has already clinched its seventh straight postseason appearance, needs just one victory to clinch its seventh consecutive 20-win season. Junior outside hitter Kim Zipf led the Greyhounds with 16 kills and 15 digs while junior setter Amy Lawrence added 44 assists, eight digs and three service aces. Lawrence went over 1,000 assists for the second straight season with her 44 assists in the match. Freshman middle hitter Lindsay Siracusa had ten kills, seven digs and two blocks. Junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil contributed seven kills, six digs and three blocks while junior libero Alissa Bucsi had ten digs.

Moravian defeated Eastern University, 30-26, 30-28, 30-21 in the team's final match at the Green Terror Invitational hosted by McDaniel College. Junior setter Amy Lawrence recorded a triple-double in the victory over Eastern with 36 assists, 13 digs and ten kills. Junior outside hitter Kim Zipf contributed 13 kills and eight digs while freshman middle hitter Lindsay Siracusa had eight kills, three blocks and two service aces. Junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil had five blocks, four kills and two service aces while junior libero/defensive specialist Alissa Bucsi contributed 12 digs.

The Greyhounds lost their first match on the second day of the Green Terror Invitational hosted by McDaniel College as the team fell to nationally-ranked King’s College, 27-30, 18-30, 21-30. In the loss to the Monarchs, who was ranked 23rd in the nation in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll, junior outside hitter Kim Zipf led the Greyhounds with 11 kills and 11 digs while freshman middle hitter Lindsay Siracusa had eight kills and three blocks. Junior setter Amy Lawrence had 28 assists and 14 digs in the match while junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil had six kills and three blocks. Junior libero Alissa Bucsi added eight digs in the contest.

Sophomore outside hitter Christina Wallace had 12 kills, ten digs and two service aces while junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil added nine kills and three blocks. Moravian played the match without two of its starters.

Junior outside hitter Kim Zipf, junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil and freshman middle hitter Lindsay Siracusa each had 16 kills in the match. Zipf contributed 23 digs while Siracusa had three blocks and two service aces. Junior outside hitter Mary Kate Cordisco made ten kills in the match while senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz had 11 digs and junior libero Alissa Bucsi had ten digs. Junior setter Amy Lawrence controlled the Moravian offense with 58 assists and she added six kills.

The Greyhounds were led by junior outside hitter Kim Zipf, who had 16 kills and 21 digs. Freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa contributed 13 kills while junior setter Amy Lawrence just missed a triple-double with 42 assists, ten kills and nine digs. Senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz had six kills and nine digs while junior defensive specialist/libero Alissa Bucsi added nine digs and junior defensive specialist Andrea Frankenfield had 11 digs. Frankenfield took over the serve in the final game with Moravian trailing 14-10 and served the Greyhounds to a 17-14 lead that they never relinquished.

The Greyhounds earned a 30-23, 30-22, 30-27 victory over Rutgers University at Newark in the final match of a non-conference tri-match. Sophomore outside hitter Christina Wallace led the Greyhounds with 11 kills in the match while junior outside hitter Kim Zipf had eight kills. Freshman middle hitter Lindsay Siracusa added seven kills and two blocks while junior defensive specialist/libero Alissa Bucsi had ten digs. The Greyhounds were led by 13 kills and 15 digs from junior outside hitter Kim Zipf. Junior setter Amy Lawrence contributed 39 assists while senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz added 11 kills. Junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil had nine kills while junior defensive specialist/libero Alissa Bucsi had 14 digs.

The Greyhounds dropped their second straight match and their fifth of the season, falling to Juniata College, 16-30, 20-30, 24-30 in Commonwealth Conference action. The victory extends the Eagles' conference winning streak to 246 matches and Juniata has not lost to a conference opponent since 1981. Juniata, which was rnaked fourth in the nation last week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, was ranked third in the Mid-Atlantic Region last week by the NCAA while Moravian was ranked fourth. For the Greyhounds, junior outside hitter Kim Zipf had six kills and 13 digs while junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil contributed six kills. Junior outside hitter Mary Kate Cordisco added five kills while junior setter Amy Lawrence had 20 assists and nine digs.

Vs. King's College – Lost 3-2

In a battle between two of the top five teams in the Mid-Atlantic Region, Moravian saw its four-match winning streak snapped in a 23-30, 23-30, 30-27, 31-29, 14-16 loss to King's College in non-conference action. The Greyhounds entered the contest ranked fourth in the latest NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional poll while the Monarchs came in ranked fifth in the region and undefeated on the year. For Moravian, junior outside hitter Kim Zipf led the squad with 29 kills and 21 digs in the match while freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa had 14 kills, five digs and five blocks. Junior setter Amy Lawrence ran the Moravian offense with 52 assists in the match and she added 17 digs, five kills and two service aces. Junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil and senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz each contributed eight kills and Walkiewicz also had 12 digs. Junior defensive specialist Alissa Bucsi had 17 digs on the evening while junior defensive specialist Andrea Frankenfield had nine digs and two service aces.

The Greyhounds improved to 2-0 in the Commonwealth Conference and won their fourth straight match as Moravian defeated Albright College, 30-13, 30-20, 30-12 in Commonwealth Conference action. Junior outside hitter Kim Zipf paced the Greyhounds with 12 kills and ten digs in the match while junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil contributed seven kills. Freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa and sophomore outside hitter Christina Wallace each had six kills while senior right side hitter Vicki Fisher had a team high three blocks. Junior setter Amy Lawrence contributed 30 assists, nine digs and five service aces while junior defensive specialist Andrea Frankenfield had three service aces.

Vs. Muhlenberg College – Won 3-1

Moravian won its third straight match and improved to 9-3 on the season with a 30-25, 30-23, 27-30, 30-17 victory over rival Muhlenberg College in non-conference action. Junior outside hitter Kim Zipf led the Greyhounds with 16 kills and she added seven digs while freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa had 14 kills. Junior setter Amy Lawrence contributed 44 assists, eight digs and six kills while senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz had ten kills, ten digs and four service aces. Junior defensive specialist Andrea Frankenfield had five service aces in the match and she lifted the Greyhounds to the victory in the fourth game of the contest, taking the serve when Moravian had a 15-12 lead and serving ten straight points. Junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil had nine kills in the match while junior libero Alissa Bucsi had 17 digs in the match. With the victory, Moravian takes a 3-0 lead in the annual Matte Award standings between the two schools.

The Greyhounds won their second match of the week as the squad posted a 30-21, 30-13, 30-10 victory at DeSales University in a non-conference match. Junior outside hitter Kim Zipf led the Greyhounds with 12 kills and seven in the match. The 12 kills gives Zipf exactly 1,000 kills for her career. She becomes the fourth Moravian player in school history to reach 1,000 kills in a career. The current school record is 1,453 set by Amy Sandt from 1996 to 1999. Junior setter Amy Lawrence added 53 assists and six digs while junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil had 11 kills and three blocks. Freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa contributed eight kills and five digs in the win.

At Widener University – Won 3-1

Moravian snapped its two-match losing streak and opened the 2002 Commonwealth Conference season with a victory as the Greyhounds defeated Widener University, 30-22, 30-20, 31-33, 30-21. The victory was the 200th for Moravian head coach Shelley Bauder. Bauder had a career record of 200-100 after the match in her ten seasons at Moravian. Greyhound junior outside hitter Kim Zipf led the squad with 24 kills and she added six digs. Junior setter Amy Lawrence had 53 assists and nine digs while freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa added 22 kills and three blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Christina Wallace contributed eight kills, nine digs and five service aces while junior defensive specialist Alissa Bucsi added 11 digs.

Vs. University of Scranton – Lost 3-2

The Greyhounds dropped their home opener to the University of Scranton in a five-set match after winning the first two games, 30-21, 30-25, 22-30, 23-30, 11-15. Junior outside hitter Kim Zipf paced Moravian with 16 kills and 19 digs in the match while freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa had 13 kills and four blocks. Zipf now needs just 37 kills to reach 1,000 for her career. Junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil led the Greyhounds with five blocks in the match and she added seven kills while junior setter Amy Lawrence had 35 assists and eight digs. Junior defensive specialist Alissa Bucsi had a team high 23 digs in the loss. Moravian head coach Shelley Bauder will now try to win the 200th match of her career at Widener next Tuesday.

Moravian fell to Eastern University for the second straight tournament in the championship match as the Greyhounds lost 27-30, 30-25, 22-30, 21-30 in the finals of the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic. Junior setter Amy Lawrence and freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa were named to the All-Tournament Team. Lawrence had 46 assists in the match and she added 12 digs while Siracusa had ten kills and three service aces. Junior outside hitter Kim Zipf led Moravian with 19 kills to go along with 14 digs while junior right side hitter Sara Hollenbacher had ten kills. Junior defensive specialist Alissa Bucsi contributed 18 digs in the match while senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz contributed 13 digs and eight kills.

Moravian won its first match on the second day of the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic, defeating Salisbury University 30-23, 31-29, 30-20. Junior setter Amy Lawrence ran the Moravian offense with 37 assists, three service aces and she had 18 digs while junior outside hitter Kim Zipf had 15 kills and seven digs. Freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa added nine kills, four service aces and two blocks in the victory.

Vs. Washington (MD) College at Gettysburg Battlefield Classic – Won 3-0

The Greyhounds won their pool on the first day of the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic with a 30-12, 30-20, 30-17 victory over Washington (MD) College. Moravian moves into the Championship bracket on Saturday. Freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa paced Moravian for the second straight match with 12 kills and three service aces. Junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil had eight kills in the match while junior setter Amy Lawrence had 33 assists and nine digs.

Moravian opened pool play at the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic with a 30-16, 30-25, 30-18 victory over Mary Washington College. Freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa had 14 kills in the match while junior outside hitter Kim Zipf added ten kills and five digs. Senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz contributed 16 digs and six kills while junior setter Amy Lawrence had 37 assists and nine digs.

Vs. Eastern University at Franklin & Marshall Scramble Tournament – Lost 3-1

The Greyhounds fell to Eastern University 26-30, 28-30, 30-18, 34-36 in the championship match of the Franklin & Marshall College Tournament. Moravian juniors setter Amy Lawrence and outside hitter Kim Zipf were named to the All-Tournament Team. Lawrence had 11 kills, 48 assists and eight digs in the match while Zipf had 20 kills for the second straight match to go along with 14 digs. Freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa contributed nine kills and two blocks while junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil had eight kills and 12 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Christina Wallace had 11 digs in the contest while junior defensive specialist Alissa Bucsi contributed 13 digs.

Moravian earned a berth in the championship match of the Franklin & Marshall College Tournament with a 30-24, 30-18, 30-19 victory over the host Diplomats. Junior outside hitter Kim Zipf paced Moravian for the second straight match with 20 kills and she added seven digs. Junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil had ten kills while freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa had nine kills. Junior setter Amy Lawrence had 39 assists and ten digs in the match while junior defensive specialist Alissa Bucsi had nine digs. Senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewicz contributed 11 digs and six kills in the win.

Junior setter Amy Lawrence ran the Moravian offense with 33 assists and she added 11 digs. Junior defensive specialist Alissa Bucsi contributed five service aces and nine digs in the victory.
