Vs. King's College in ECAC Division III Southern
Championship hosted by Albright College - Won 86-64 Boxscore
The
seventh seeded Greyhounds pulled of their third straight upset of a
higher ranked team, this time defeating top seeded King's College, 86-64,
to capture the 2007 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division
III Southern Championship hosted by Albright College. The title is Moravian's
second ECAC Championship as the program won the 1987 crown, and this
was Moravian's sixth trip to the finals in ten ECAC Southern Championship
appearances. The Greyhounds scored first but King's would have a pair
of one-point leads, first at 3-2, then 5-4. Moravian then went on a
9-0 run to take a 13-5 lead with 13:26 remaining in the first half,
and the Greyhounds controlled the game from that point. Moravian quickly
pushed its lead to double digits and was up 35-14 with 4:02 still to
play in the first half. The Greyhounds went to the locker room with
a 46-24 lead after shooting 16 of 38 from the field (42.1 percent),
four of ten behind the three-point line and ten of 13 at the foul line
in the first 20 minutes. Moravian also had a 29-15 advantage in rebounds
with the Greyhounds committing just seven turnovers to 11 for the Monarchs.
King's connected on nine of 28 field goal attempts in the first half,
two of 11 three-pointers and four of six free throws. The Monarchs started
the second half with a 9-2 run to pull within 48-33, but King's would
not get any closer. Moravian's lead eventually reached 34 points on
three occasions, the final time at 84-50 with 4:44 to play. The Greyhounds
were 12 of 36 from the field (33.3 percent), two of seven three-pointers
and 14 of 17 free throws in the second half. Moravian also finished
the game with a 55-39 advantage in rebounds and had just 11 turnovers
while forcing King's into 16 turnovers. The Monarchs were 11 of 32 from
the floor, three of 14 on three-pointers and 15 of 21 at the foul line
in the final 20 minutes. The Greyhounds had four players in double figures
led by senior forward Kelly Applegate, who netted a game high 24 points.
With 9:36 left in the game, Applegate moved into fifth in career scoring
at Moravian and finishes her career with 1,529 points. Applegate also
had three rebounds to finish with a career total of 694, and she added
three assists and three steals in the victory. Freshman guard Amanda
Brown tossed in 15 points on five three-pointers and had three rebounds
while freshmen forward Alyssa Bisci and Kirsty Stearns each scored 12
points. Stearns added nine rebounds while Bisci, whose 12 points was
a career high, grabbed four boards. Moravian senior forward Jenny Hackleman
was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player and had eight points,
seven rebounds, four assists and two steals in the Greyhound win. Hackleman
finishes her career third all-time in rebounding at Moravian with 814,
and she is 11th in scoring with 1,161 points. Freshman guard Jessica
Foran added six points for the Greyhounds while senior guard Katie Rizman
had five points and three rebounds. Junior guard La'Toya Blake contributed
five assists, five rebounds and three steals in the win. Guard Kaitlyn
Fiorino led King's with 15 points and six rebounds while forward Casey
Heitman and guard Lauren Kendra each scored 11 points. Forward Andrea
Hochstuhl had ten points and six rebounds for the Monarchs while Brittany
Atzert tossed in nine points. Forward Sarah Darling had a game high
four blocked shots to go with five rebounds and four points.

At Albright College in ECAC Division III Southern
Semifinals - Won 71-60 Boxscore
Seventh seeded Moravian pulled off another upset, this time defeating
third seed Albright College, 71-60, to advance to the championship game
of the 2007 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III Southern
Championships. The Greyhounds will be playing in the title game for
the sixth time in ten trips to the ECAC Southern Championships; however,
Moravian has won just one title back in 1987. The last time the Greyhounds
played in the title game was back in 2005. Moravian will play top seed
King's College, a 68-62 winner over fourth seed Washington & Jefferson
College in the other semifinal contest. In the semifinal game, Albright
jumped out to an early lead and held a 17-8 advantage with 14:28 remaining
in the first half. The Greyhounds responded with an 18-2 run to take
a 26-19 lead with 5:10 before halftime. Moravian's lead would reach
nine points, 32-23, with 2:10 left in the first half after a pair of
free throws by freshman guard Kate Harrison. The Greyhounds went to
the locker room with a 34-29 lead after shooting 12 of 32 from the field
(37.5 percent), two of eight behind the three-point line and eight of
ten at the foul line in the first 20 minutes. Albright, which had a
26-23 advantage in rebounds at halftime, was 14 of 41 from the floor,
one for five on three-pointers and missed its only free throw attempt
in the first half. Moravian came out and scored the first four points
of the second half to take its first double-digit lead of the game,
39-29, on a pair of free throws by senior forward Jenny Hackleman with
18:49 remaining in the game. The Lions answered with a 12-2 run to tie
the game at 41-41 with 14:47 on the clock. Moravian came right back
with an 11-2 run to take a 52-43 lead on a pair of free throws by freshman
forward Kirsty Stearns with 11:49 remaining. The Greyhounds would eventually
push the lead to 16 points at 61-45 with 8:25 to play. Moravian made
11 of 26 field goal attempts (42.3 percent), three of five three-pointers
and 12 of 16 free throws in the final 20 minutes. Albright, which had
a slight 45-44 edge in rebounds was 11 of 30 from the floor and nine
of 13 at the foul line in the second half while missing its only three-point
attempt. The Greyhounds had three players in double figures led by freshman
guard Jessica Foran with 15 points to go with three rebounds. Hackleman
had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, and Hackleman, who
had three assists, became the third player in school history with 800
career rebounds, now with 807, and moved into 11th in scoring with 1,153
points. Senior forward Kelly Applegate tossed in 12 points to become
the sixth player in school history to score 1,500 points, now with 1,505,
and she grabbed eight rebounds to improve her career total to 691. Harrison
and freshman guard Amanda Brown each had nine points and three rebounds
with Harrison adding two assists. Stearns contributed eight points and
three rebounds while senior guard Katie Rizman had three points and
two rebounds. Junior guard La'Toya Blake added three assists, two rebounds
and two steals in the win. Forward Jaqueline Hardwick led Albright with
a game high 16 points, and she added 13 rebounds for a double-double.
Guard Marie Levins tossed in 11 points for the Lions while forward Staci
Waligorski had ten points and five rebounds.

At Penn State Behrend in ECAC Division III
Southern Quarterfinals - Won 72-56 Boxscore
The seventh seeded Greyhounds overcame a nine-point deficit to start
the game to defeat second seeded Penn State Behrend, 72-56, in a quarterfinal
game of the 2007 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Division
III Southern Championship. Moravian advances to the ECAC Southern Semifinals
for the fourth time in five years and the last four times Moravian has
played in tournament. The Greyhounds will play third seeded Albright
College, a 98-73 winner over sixth seed Neumann College. The other semifinal
final will feature top seed King's College, a 64-50 winner over Villa
Julie College, and fourth seeded Washington & Jefferson College,
a 69-57 winner versus fifth seed Cabrini College. The semifinals and
championship will be played at Albright College on Friday and Saturday
March 2nd and 3rd. In the quarterfinal game, the Lions jumped out to
a quick 9-0 lead before the Greyhounds scored at the 16:24 mark on a
lay-up by senior forward Kelly Applegate. Moravian eventually tied the
game at 14-14 with 9:58 remaining in the first half on a pair of free
throws by senior forward Jenny Hackleman, and the Greyhounds would take
a 17-14 lead on a three-pointer by senior guard Katie Rizman 40 seconds
later. Penn State Behrend forced a 19-19 tie but Moravian took the lead
for good on a jumper by freshman guard Kate Harrison with 7:06 until
the intermission. The Greyhounds pushed their first half lead to 30-21
with 2:14 remaining; however, Moravian did not score the rest of the
half and went to the locker room with a 30-27 lead. The Greyhounds made
ten of 27 field goal attempts (37.0 percent), two of seven three-pointers
and eight of ten free throws in the first 20 minutes. Moravian also
had a 17-16 edge in rebounds in the first half and committed just eight
turnovers to ten for the Lions. Penn State Behrend was ten of 25 from
the floor, two of four on three-pointers and five of six at the foul
line in the first half. The Greyhounds came out of the locker room in
the second half and quickly pushed the lead to double digits at 39-27
with 17:24 still to play. The Lions would pull back within six points,
41-35, at the 14:40 mark before Moravian began to pull away. Hackleman
made a pair of free throws with 1:55 remaining in the game to give Moravian
its largest lead of the contest, 19 points, 70-51. The Greyhounds connected
on 18 of 31 field goal attempts (58.1 percent), two of four three-pointers
and four of five free throws in the second half. Both teams had 31 rebounds
for the game; however, Moravian made just 15 turnovers for the game
while Penn State Behrend committed 22 turnovers. The Lions were 12 of
26 from the floor, one for five on three-pointers and four of six at
the foul line in the second half. Moravian had three players in double
figures led by Applegate with a game high 16 points. Applegate added
seven rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots, and she now has
1,493 points (6th all-time) and 683 rebounds (7th all-time) in her career.
Freshman guard Jessica Foran tossed in 12 points for the Greyhounds
to go with four rebounds, two assists and two steals while freshman
forward Kirsty Stearns returned from an injury with 11 points, four
rebounds and two assists. Harrison, Rizman and freshman guard Amanda
Brown each had eight points with Harrison adding four assists and three
steals. Hackleman moved into 12th all-time in scoring with seven points
to give her 1,140 in her career, and Hackleman moved into third all-time
at Moravian in rebounds with seven in the victory to boost her career
total to 794. Hackleman also dished out four assists for the Greyhounds.
Junior guard La'Toya Blake had four rebounds, two points and two assists
for Moravian. The Lions had four players in double figures with 13 points
each from Brittany Mays and Victoria Innes. Mays also had a game high
ten rebounds for Penn State Behrend. Megan Beilanin and Julia Andrus
each netted 11 points for the Lions.

At #5 Messiah College in Commonwealth Conference
Championship - Lost 79-57 Boxscore
Moravian, seeded third in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament, fell
to top seed Messiah College, 79-57, in the 2007 Commonwealth Conference
Championship game. The Greyhounds were playing in their fifth straight
conference championship contest. Messiah, ranked fifth in the nation
in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, wins its third straight Commonwealth
title and earns the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division
III National Championship Tournament. Moravian has to wait until Monday
to see if the team will be awarded one of eight bids to the 2007 Eastern
Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III Southern Championships that
will begin on Wednesday, February 28th. Messiah had the lead for the
first half, and the Falcons led 31-26 at halftime. Messiah was 13 of
30 from the floor, one of seven on three-pointers and four of six at
the foul line in the first half. Moravian shot just ten of 33 from the
field (30.3 percent) in the first 20 minutes, three of eight behind
the three-point line and three of six at the foul line. The Greyhounds
did have a 23-19 advantage in rebounds at the intermission, and both
teams committed 12 first half turnovers. Moravian came out of the locker
room quickly to start the second half, pulling within one-point at 33-32,
with 18:24 still to play. However, the Falcons slowly pulled away late
in the second half, putting the game away at the foul line. Messiah
shot even better in the second half, making 15 of 32 field goals, one
of six three-pointers and 17 of 19 free throws. The Falcons also committed
just three turnovers in the final 20 minutes. Moravian also shot better
following the intermission, making ten of 26 field goal attempts (38.5
percent) and 11 of 14 free throws. The Greyhounds, who had a 40-39 edge
in rebounds for the game, missed all three of their three-point attempts
in the second half. Moravian had three-players in double figures led
by senior forward Kelly Applegate with 21 points to go with nine rebounds.
Freshman guard Jessica Foran tossed in 12 points for the Greyhounds
while senior forward Jenny Hackleman had ten points to go with a game
high 11 rebounds. Freshman guard Amanda Brown netted six points on a
pair of three-pointers to go with three assists for the Greyhounds while
freshman guard Kate Harrison had four points and three boards. Sophomore
forward Cody Fedorishen added four rebounds and two points while junior
guard La'Toya Blake had a game high four steals for Moravian. Junior
guard Nikki Lobach, the Tournament's Most Valuable Player, led Messiah
and all scorers with 23 points to go with three rebounds and three steals.
Sophomore forward Ashley Brooks added 17 points and seven rebounds for
the Falcons while senior forward Sarah Ringer had 11 points and three
boards. Junior guard Amy Reed finished with nine points, five rebounds
and four assists while sophomore forward Silalei Shani had six rebounds,
four points and a pair of blocked shots.

At Albright College in Commonwealth Conference
Semifinals - Won 68-61 Boxscore
The Greyhounds, seeded third in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament,
defeated second seeded Albright College, 68-61, to advance to the Commonwealth
Conference Championship game for the fifth straight season. Moravian,
which has won six consecutive games, will travel to top seed Messiah
College for the second consecutive year for the championship game. Albright
was making its first postseason appearance in ten years while the Greyhounds
are in the conference tournament for the sixth straight year. Moravian
scored first and the game was tied at 2-2 before the Greyhounds pulled
ahead, 5-2. The Lions would eventually take a 6-5 lead before Moravian
went on an 11-2 run to build its biggest lead of the half, 16-8. The
Greyhounds kept the lead until the Lions took a 25-24 lead with just
under two minutes to play in the first half. Moravian scored the final
eight points of the first half to head to the locker room with a 32-25
lead. The Greyhounds made 12 of 33 field goal attempts (36.4 percent)
in the first 20 minutes of the contest, one of four three-pointers and
seven of 11 free throws. The Greyhounds had a 29-27 edge in rebounds
but committed 11 turnovers to just eight turnovers for the Lions. Albright
struggled shooting in the first half, making just ten of 37 field goal
attempts and five of ten free throws. The Lions, who had a 14-11 edge
in offensive rebounds, missed all three of their three-point attempts
in the first 20 minutes. Coming out of the locker room for the second
half, Moravian slowly build a ten-point lead, 44-34, with 16:37 to play.
Albright fought its way back, eventually tying the contest at 54-54
with 7:50 remaining on the clock. The game would be tied twice more
at 56-56 and 58-58 finally with 6:59 to play. Moravian eventually pulled
ahead on a jumper by freshman Jessica Foran at the 4:41 mark as the
Lions did not score again until 11 seconds remained in the contest.
The Greyhounds, ranked third in the nation in free throw percentage,
put the game away with six of eight free throws in the final 33 seconds.
In the second half, Moravian made 12 of 31 field goal attempts (38.7
percent), its only three-point attempt and 11 of 15 free throws. The
Greyhounds committed just five turnovers in the second half to finish
with 16 while Albright had 17 turnovers. The Lions shot better in the
second half, making 16 of 37 field goal attempts, three of ten three-pointers
and one of four free throws. Albright did finish the game with a 53-47
advantage in rebounds. Moravian had three players in double figures
led by senior forward Jenny Hackleman, who had a double-double in the
first half. Hackleman, who moved into 13th all-time with 1,123 points
in her career, finished with game highs of 19 points and 16 rebounds
to go with five blocked shots. Hackleman had 13 points, ten rebounds
and all five of her blocked shots in the first 20 minutes of the contest.
Senior forward Kelly Applegate and Foran each tossed in 15 points for
the Greyhounds with Applegate grabbing nine rebounds to go with two
blocked shots and two steals. Foran dished out four assists. Freshman
forward Kirsty Stearns had nine points and four boards off the bench
for Moravian while freshman guard Kate Harrison contributed seven points
and three rebounds. Freshman guard Amanda Brown had four assists, three
points and a career high three rebounds in the win while junior guard
La'Toya Blake grabbed four rebounds to go with two assists. Guard Marie
Levins led Albright with 15 points while forward Jaqueline Hardwick
tossed in 11 points to go with nine rebounds. Forward Meredith Berger
set a Lion school record with ten blocked shots in the game to go with
ten rebounds and nine points while guard Natalie Bizzaro and Charlotte
Ciccone each had seven points for Albright. Bizzaro added four rebounds
and four assists while forward Jen DuPrau grabbed ten rebounds for the
Lions.

At Elizabethtown College - Won 101-85 Boxscore
Moravian closed out the 2006-07 regular season with a 101-85 win at
Elizabethtown College in the Greyhounds' final Commonwealth Conference
game. The last time Moravian scored at least 100 points was on January
24, 2005, a 100-86 win at Muhlenberg College. Against Elizabethtown,
the Greyhounds scored first and the game was tied at 2-2 before Moravian
took control. The Greyhounds slowly pulled away and put the lead into
double digits including a 28-point lead, 43-15, with 5:59 remaining
in the first half after jumper by freshman guard Kate Harrison. Moravian
would go to the locker room with a 50-27 halftime lead. Moravian shot
20 of 38 from the floor (52.6 percent) in the first 20 minutes, and
the Greyhounds made ten of 12 free throws in the first half. Moravian,
which missed all five of its three-pointers in the first half, had a
23-12 advantage on the boards in the first half while committing just
six turnovers. Elizabethtown, which had 16 turnovers in the first 20
minutes, was ten for 25 on field goal attempts, three of ten behind
the three-point line and four of five at the charity stripe in the first
half. The Greyhounds came out of the locker room and extended their
lead to 30 points on three occasions, the final time at 71-41 after
a three-pointer by senior guard Katie Rizman with 13:36 to play. With
the Greyhounds playing all 17 players in uniform for the second straight
game and no Moravian players seeing more than 23 minutes of action,
Elizabethtown would eventually get the lead back under 20 points in
the final minutes. Moravian continued to shot the ball well in the second
half, making 16 of 31 field goal attempts (51.6 percent), three of four
three-pointers and 16 of 22 free throws in the final 20 minutes. The
Greyhounds also finished the contest with a 50-25 advantage in rebounds
while both teams had 21 turnovers for the game. The Blue Jays would
make 21 of 41 second half field goal attempts, four of 13 three-pointers
and 12 of 16 free throws. Moravian had 12 players score with four in
double figures. Senior forward Kelly Applegate led the Greyhounds with
18 points to go with seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Senior forward Jenny Hackleman had 15 points, a game high nine rebounds
and three assists for the Greyhounds while freshman forward Kirsty Stearns
tossed in 14 points and added three rebounds and three assists off the
bench. Hackleman became the 14th player in school history to reach 1,100
career points, now with 1,104. Freshman guard Amanda Brown had 13 points,
four assists, three steals and two boards for Moravian while freshman
guard Jessica Foran added nine points and five rebounds in the victory.
Harrison finished with eight points while freshman forward Alyssa Bisci
and sophomore forward Cody Fedorishen each tossed in seven points. Bisci
added five rebounds while Rizman had five boards to go with three points.
Junior guard La'Toya Blake grabbed four rebounds for Moravian. Guard
Erin Walton scored a game high 32 points to lead Elizabethtown, and
she had four rebounds and three assists. Megan Quinn added 18 points,
four assists and four steals for the Blue Jays while Courtney Kofeldt
had 14 points, three assists and three steals off the bench.

At Widener University - Won 77-55 Boxscore
The Greyhounds extended their winning streak to four straight games
with a 77-55 victory at Widener University in Commonwealth Conference
action. The game was postponed twice due to weather before finally being
played. The Pride took a 2-0 lead and the game was tied at 4-4 before
Moravian took the lead for good on a three-pointer by freshman guard
Amanda Brown. The Greyhounds would lead by as many as 13 points in the
first half before going to the locker room with a 32-21 lead. Moravian
was 13 of 28 from the field (46.4 percent), two of four behind the three-point
line and four of five at the foul line in the first 20 minutes. Widener
made nine of 30 field goal attempts and three of eight three-pointers
in the first half. The Pride did not go to the foul line in the first
half but did have a 19-18 edge on rebounds. Moravian forced Widener
into 19 first half turnovers while committing 16 miscues in the first
20 minutes. The Greyhounds came out in the second half and slowly extended
the lead to as many as 31 points, 74-43 with 4:46 remaining. Moravian
used all 17 players in uniform for the game with everyone seeing at
least four minutes of action. The Greyhounds were 19 of 30 (63.3 percent)
on their field goal attempts in the second half, one of five on three-pointers
and six of eight at the foul line in the second half while the Pride
were 12 of 36 from the floor, three of 11 on three-pointers and seven
of 14 at the charity stripe. Moravian finished the game with a 40-37
edge in rebounds. The Greyhounds had three players in double figures
led by senior forward Kelly Applegate, who tossed in a game high 16
points to go with six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Brown finished
with 14 points, four assists and four boards while freshman forward
Kirsty Stearns had 13 points and a team high seven rebounds for the
Greyhounds. Senior forward Jenny Hackleman and freshman guard Kate Harrison
each scored eight points with Hackleman adding five rebounds and five
assists. Freshman forward Alyssa Bisci scored six points for Moravian
to go with three rebounds while freshman guard Jessica Foran tossed
in four points. Sophomore forward Cody Fedorishen had three points and
four rebounds while freshman guard Alexis DiFazio tossed in three points.
Junior guard La'Toya Blake added three assists for Moravian. Center
Stephanie Bixby led Widener with a double-double including 16 points
and a game high 16 rebounds while guard Rayne Reber also had 16 points.
Guard Beth Dessart Mager had nine points and a game high six assists

Moravian won its third straight game and upset top-ranked Messiah College,
66-59, in Commonwealth Conference action in Johnston Hall as the Greyhounds
clinch their sixth straight trip to the Commonwealth Conference Tournament.
The Falcons entered the game in the top spot of the D3hoops.com Top
25 Poll for the second straight week and on a 19-game winning streak.
The win was Moravian's third straight regular season win at home against
the Falcons. The game was tight early with neither team leading by more
than two points and there were seven ties in the first 12 and a half
minutes. With Messiah holding a 14-13 lead, Moravian ran off nine consecutive
points to take a 22-14 lead with 5:08 remaining in the first half. The
Greyhounds eventually pushed the lead to double digits at 27-16 with
3:05 until the intermission, but the Falcons rallied with eight straight
points to cut the Moravian lead to 27-24 with 1:47 left in the first
half. The Greyhounds scored to push the lead to five points but the
Falcons scored with 1:09 to cut the lead back to three points and send
the game to the locker room with Moravian leading 29-26. The Greyhounds
were 12 of 30 from the field (40.0 percent) in the first 20 minutes,
five of eight at the foul line and missed both of their three-pointers.
Moravian had a 24-9 advantage in rebounds in the first half, including
11-1 on the offensive boards; however, the Greyhounds had 13 first half
turnovers to 11 for the Falcons. Messiah made ten of its 25 first half
field goal attempts, one of five three-pointers and five of seven free
throws. The game would remain close in the early part of the second
half as well with Messiah eventually taking a 32-31 lead with 16:30
to go. The Falcons would push their lead to five points, 42-37 with
13:29 remaining before a 6-0 run by the Greyhounds gave Moravian the
lead back at 43-42 on a driving lay-up by freshman guard Jessica Foran.
Messiah retook the lead briefly before the Greyhounds had a 50-47 edge
with 8:21 to play after a jumper by senior forward Kelly Applegate.
Messiah posted a 7-1 run to take a 54-41 lead with 4:20 remaining. Moravian
would eventually retake the lead on its only three-pointer of the game
by freshman guard Amanda Brown with 3:00 remaining for a 56-54 lead.
The would be the Greyhounds final field goal of the contest; however,
Moravian, ranked sixth in the nation in free throw percentage, made

clock, the 12th tie of the contest, before the Greyhounds won the game
at the foul line. Moravian was ten of 24 (41.7 percent) from the field
in the second half, one for two on three-pointers and 16 of 20 at the
foul line. The Greyhounds finished the game with a 46-26 advantage in
rebounds including a 16-7 edge on the offensive boards. Messiah made
just 13 of 35 second half field goals, two of eight three-pointers and
five of eight free throws. The Greyhounds had three players in double
figures led by Applegate, who had a team high 17 points to go with eight
rebounds. Applegate became the sixth player in school history to reach
1,400 career points, now with 1,407, and she is eighth in school history
with 645 rebounds. Freshman guard Kate Harrison tossed in a career high
16 points for Moravian, including four of six at the foul line in the
final two minutes. Harrison added three rebounds. Senior forward Jenny
Hackleman had a double-double for the Greyhounds with a game high 14
rebounds to go with 12 points, three steals and two assists. Hackleman
moved into fourth all-time in rebounds with 746 for her career and she
is 14th in scoring now with 1,081 points. Sophomore forward Cody Fedorishen
tossed in a career high nine points for Moravian, including seven in
the first half, to go with four rebounds. Brown added seven points and
four assists for the Greyhounds while Foran had six rebounds, four points
and two steals. Freshman forward Alyssa Bisci grabbed three rebounds
in the victory. Lobach led all scorers with 22 points before fouling
out, and she had three assists, three rebounds and three steals for
Messiah. Senior forward Sarah Ringer contributed eight points and four

The Greyhounds won their second straight game to remain in sole possession
of third place in the Commonwealth Conference, defeating Lebanon Valley
College, 64-50. The victory was Moravian's second on the road this season
in nine games. Moravian jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead, and the Greyhounds
led most of the first half. There were four ties in the first 20 minutes,
and the Flying Dutchmen had just one lead, 21-20 with 2:53 to play.
Moravian's largest lead of the first half was six points on two occasions,
14-8 and 18-12. The Greyhounds went to the locker room with a 28-25
advantage after shooting nine of 24 (37.5 percent) from the floor, two
of nine behind the three-point line and eight of ten at the foul line.
Lebanon Valley was nine of 22 from the field and seven of 11 at the
charity stripe, but the Flying Dutchmen missed all five of their first
half free throws. Lebanon Valley had a 17-15 advantage in rebounds in
the first half. Moravian started the second half with a 19-3 run to
take a 47-28 lead with 13:55 remaining in the game. The Greyhounds would
keep their lead in double digits the rest of the way as the team shot
11 of 28 (39.3 percent) from the floor, two-for-two behind the three-point
line and 12 of 15 at the foul line. The Flying Dutchmen were ten of
20 from the floor, two of six behind the three-point line and three
of five at the foul line in the second half. Lebanon Valley did finish
the game with a 31-29 edge in rebounds; however, the Flying Dutchmen
had 26 turnovers to just 16 for the Greyhounds. Moravian had two players
in double figures led by senior forward Kelly Applegate with a game
a game high 17 points. Applegate, who moved into sixth all-time in school
history with 1,390 career points, added seven rebounds and three assists.
Senior forward Jenny Hackleman added 14 points, a game high nine rebounds,
two assists and two steals for the Greyhounds. Freshman guard Jessica
Foran tossed in nine points to go with a career high six steals and
a career best four assists. Senior guard Kristina Adams, freshman guard
Kate Harrison and freshmen forwards Alyssa Bisci and Kirsty Stearns
all scored five points in the Moravian victory. Forward Monica Johnson
led Lebanon Valley with 17 points and five rebounds while guard Allie
Butler added 12 points. Guard Amie Bickert grabbed nine rebounds for

Moravian snapped its four-game losing streak and took sole possession
of third place in the Commonwealth Conference standings with a 76-62
victory over Susquehanna University at Johnston Hall. The Crusaders
jumped out to a 5-0 lead and led 9-5 before the Greyhounds went a 6-0
run to take 11-9 lead with 10:16 remaining in the first half. The lead
went back-and-forth with Susquehanna eventually taking its largest lead
of the game, seven points at 26-19 at the 3:37 mark. However, Moravian
finished the first half on a 14-2 run to head to the locker room with
a 33-28 lead. The run was fueled by four three-pointers from Moravian
freshman guard Amanda Brown in a span of two minutes. The Greyhounds
were 14 of 33 from the field (42.4 percent) from the field, four of
eight behind the three-point line and one of two at the foul line. Susquehanna
made ten of 23 first-half field goal attempts, four of nine three-pointers
and all for of its free throw attempts. Moravian had an 18-14 advantage
on the boards in the first half while committing just six turnovers
while the Crusaders had ten turnovers in the first 20 minutes. The Greyhounds
continued their run into the second half, scoring the first seven points
of the half to build a 40-28 lead with 16:20 to play. Susquehanna closed
within six points at 42-36 with 14:09 on the clock before Moravian pushed
the lead back to ten points at 48-38 with 11:45 to play. The Crusaders
had an 8-2 run to cut the Moravian lead to 50-46 with 9:21 to play before
a 10-4 Moravian run put the lead back into double digits for the rest
of the game at 60-50 with 5:48 remaining. The Greyhounds added another
8-2 run to build their largest lead of the game, 68-52 with 2:34 to
play. Moravian shot well in the second half, making 12 of 24 field goal
attempts (50.0 percent) and 19 of 20 free throws. The Greyhounds, who
did not attempt a three-pointers in the final 20 minutes, finished the
game with a 42-25 edge in rebounds while both teams committed 16 turnovers.
Susquehanna was 11 of 34 from the field, five of 15 behind the three-point
line and seven of eight at the foul line in the second half. Moravian
had four players in double figures led by senior forward Kelly Applegate
with 19 points. Applegate added nine rebounds to move into seventh in
school history with 630 career rebounds, and she is seventh all-time
in scoring with 1,373 points, just four points shy of moving into sixth.
With 11:45 remaining in the game, Applegate made her 428th career free
throw to break the school record, and after a seven-for-eight performance,
Applegate is 430 for 559 at the foul line in her career, both school
records. Brown and fellow freshmen Jessica Foran and Kirsty Stearns
each had 14 points. Stearns added four rebounds while Brown contributed
four steals and three assists. Senior forward Jenny Hackleman grabbed
a game high 11 rebounds for the Greyhounds to go with eight points,
two blocked shots and a career high six assists while freshman guard
Kate Harrison had five points, three rebounds and three assists for
Moravian. Hackleman, who is fifth all-time at Moravian with 723 career
rebounds, moved into 14th in scoring with 1,055 points. Guard Ruth Williamson
led Susquehanna with 18 points off the bench while forwards Jen Clark
and Nikki Smith each had 13 points. Forward Courtney Thibeault led the
Crusaders with five rebounds while guard Crystal Schneck dished out
a team high four assists for Susquehanna.

The Greyhounds dropped their fourth straight game, falling to rival
Muhlenberg College, 68-65. Moravian hadn't lost four straight games
since a four-game stretch from November 30th to December 9th 2000. The
loss also dropped the Greyhounds to 1-8 in road games this season. Moravian
jumped out to an 8-0 lead and led 10-2 after a jumper by freshman guard
Kate Harrison. However, the Greyhounds would score just two points in
the next ten minutes as the Mules took a 15-12 lead. Moravian tied it
at 15-15 and again at 17-17 before the Mules pulled away to end the
half with a 27-22 lead. The Greyhounds were just nine of 32 from the
field (28.1 percent) in the first half, one of four behind the three-point
line and three of six at the foul line while Muhlenberg was 11 of 35
from the floor and five of seven at the charity stripe. Muhlenberg,
which had a 28-22 advantage in rebounds in the first 20 minutes, missed
all six of its three-point attempts in the first half. Moravian had
nine turnovers in the first half while Muhlenberg committed eight turnovers.
The Mules scored first in the second half to extend their lead to 29-22,
but the Greyhounds answered with an 8-0 run to take a 30-29 lead on
a pair of free throws by senior forward Kelly Applegate with 17:38 left
in the game. Muhlenberg retook the lead and would get it back to six
points, 44-38 with 13:56 remaining when Moravian went on a 14-3 run
to take a 52-47 lead with 7:29 to play. The Mules quickly pulled within
one point at 53-52 with 6:31 on the clock, but the Greyhounds responded
with a 6-0 run to take a 59-52 lead with 3:37 remaining. Muhlenberg
countered with a 10-0 run to take a 62-59 lead with 1:44 to play. The
Greyhounds tied the game twice at 62-62 and 64-64, but the Mules were
four-for-four from the foul line in the final 41 seconds to win the
contest. Moravian missed three shots and a free throw in the final 27
seconds. Both teams shot better in the second half with the Greyhounds
connecting on 16 of 39 field goal attempts (41.0 percent), two of five
three-pointers and nine of 12 free throws. The Mules were 12 of 28 in
the second half from the field, four of eight behind the three-point
line and 13 of 15 at the foul line. Both schools finished the game with
45 rebounds while both teams had 16 turnovers for the game. The Greyhounds
had two players in double figures led by 19 points from Applegate, who
played just five minutes with six points in the first half due to foul
trouble. Applegate, who increased her career point total to 1,354 (seventh
in school history), also grabbed seven rebounds to improve to 621 career
rebounds (eighth all-time). Applegate was five of six from the foul
line and is the school record holder in career free throw attempts with
552 and second in free throws made with 423, just five shy of breaking
the school mark. Harrison tossed in 12 points for Moravian to go with
three rebounds and two assists. Senior forward Jenny Hackleman had a
game high 11 rebounds to go with eight points, two blocked shots and
two steals. Hackleman moved into fifth in school history with 712 career
rebounds, and she is 15th in scoring with 1,047 points. Freshman guard
Jessica Foran added eight points, four rebounds and three assists for
the Greyhounds while freshman guard Amanda Brown connected on a trio
of three-pointers for nine points. Freshman forward Alyssa Bisci had
six rebounds and four points for Moravian while freshman forward Kirsty
Stearns added four points and four rebounds. Guard Lauren Boyle led
Muhlenberg and all scorers with 29 points in the game including a 12-for-12
performance at the foul line. Boyle also had five rebounds. Forward
Meghan Courtney contributed 11 points, nine rebounds, four blocked shots
and three assists for the Mules while forward Kaitlyn O'Malley tossed
in ten points. Forward Erin McSherry led Muhlenberg with ten rebounds.
The Mules now have a 7-2 lead in the annual Matte Award standings after

Moravian suffered its third straight loss in Commonwealth Conference
action, falling to Albright College, 61-60, in a game at Johnston Hall.
The Greyhounds' three-game losing streak is the program's first since
dropping the final three games of the 2000-01 season. Moravian jumped
out to a 7-0 lead in the first half before the Lions got on the board
at the 17:19 mark. The Greyhounds kept the lead until the 3:04 mark
when Albright took the lead on a three-point play by sophomore guard
Charolette Ciccone. The Lions would hold onto the lead until the 8:11
mark of the second half. Moravian trailed by just one point at half
time as freshman guard Jessica Foran hit a three-pointer with 19 seconds
left to cut Albright's advantage to 30-29. The Greyhounds had the ball
at the end of the half but were unable to get a shot off. Neither team
shot well in the first half with Moravian making ten of 27 field goal
attempts (37.0 percent), two of five three-pointers and all seven of
its free throw attempts. The Lions were 11 of 29 from the field and
eight of 11 at the foul line in the first 20 minutes, and Albright missed
its only three-point attempt of the first half. Moravian had a 22-15
advantage in rebounds; however, the Greyhounds committed 16 turnovers
in the first half to 12 for Albright. The Lions stretched their lead
to seven points at 45-38 with 11:23 to play before the Greyhounds went
on a 9-0 run to take a 47-45 lead with 8:11 remaining. Foran tied the
game with a pair of free throws and added a lay-up for the lead. The
Lions ran off five straight points to take a 50-47 lead with 6:55 to
play. Moravian came back and took a 53-52 advantage with 4:55 to play
but a three-pointer by senior guard Marie Levins gave Albright the lead
back. The Greyhounds tied the contest twice at 55-55 and again at 57-57
with 44 seconds to play on a pair of free throws by senior forward Jenny
Hackleman. Albright had a 61-58 lead with less then ten seconds to play
when Moravian went inside to freshman forward Kirsty Stearns for a jumper
in the lane with a second to play to finish the scoring. The Greyhounds
continued to struggle shooting the ball in the second half, making just
nine of 26 field goal attempts (34.6 percent), two of four three-pointers
and 11 of 13 free throws. Albright shot slightly better in the second
half, connecting on 12 of 31 field goal attempts, one of seven three-pointers
and six of 13 free throws. Moravian did finish the game with a 41-39
advantage in rebounds; however, the Greyhounds had a total of 29 turnovers
while Albright had 23 miscues. Moravian had two players in double figures
led by Hackleman who had a career high 21 points. Hackleman, who was
honored before the game for joining Moravian's 1,000-point club, added
eight rebounds and two assists. During the contest, Hackleman became
the sixth player in school history to reach 700 career rebounds and
now has career totals of 701 rebounds and 1,039 points, which is 15th
all-time. Foran tossed in 12 points for the Greyhounds to go with four
steals, three assists and two rebounds. Stearns had eight points and
eight rebounds while senior forward Kelly Applegate had eight points
and five rebounds for Moravian. Freshman guard Kate Harrison grabbed
a career high seven rebounds for the Greyhounds to go with five points
and three assists while junior guard La'Toya Blake had three steals
and three rebounds. Senior guard Natalie Bizzaro led Albright with 15
points, four steals and three rebounds while sophomore guard Annie McMahon
had 11 points, six rebounds and three steals. Junior forward Jaqueline
Hardwick had eight points and seven rebounds for the Lions while Ciccone
added seven points and four steals. The win was Albright's second this
season over Moravian after the Greyhounds had won the previous 12 games

game, falling to Juniata College, 81-69. The Eagles jumped out to a
7-0 lead before Moravian ran off nine straight points for a 9-7 lead
with 13:41 left in the first half. The Greyhounds final lead of the
contest was 13-10 with 11:41 until the intermission. At the 7:41 mark
of the first half, Juniata had a 24-19 lead; however, the Eagles used
a 12-1 run over the next four and a half minutes to build a 36-20 lead
with 3:13 left until halftime. Juniata went to the locker room with
a 43-30 lead. The Eagles were 15 of 29 from the floor, four of seven
on three-pointers and nine of ten from the foul line in the first 20
minutes, and Juniata had an 18-12 advantage in rebounds while forcing
Moravian into 14 turnovers and committing just ten. The Greyhounds connected
on ten of 24 field goal attempts (41.7 percent), one of five three-pointers
and nine of 12 free throws in the first half. Juniata kept its lead
in double digits until the final minute of the game, leading by as many
as 17 points, 56-39 with 13:10 left to play. Moravian would get within

Moravian nearly pulled off an upset in Commonwealth Conference action
before falling to third-ranked Messiah College, 58-54, in a road conference
game. The Falcons were ranked third in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25
Poll and received seven first-place votes, the same number as top ranked
the University of Scranton. The Greyhounds led most of the contest including
heading into the locker room at halftime with a 27-17 advantage, but
Moravian was unable to hold on in the end as the Falcons scored 41 second
half points to earn the win. The Greyhounds still had a five-point lead
with three minutes to play before the Falcons scored on a three-point
play and a three-pointer to take the lead. In the first half, the Greyhounds
were 12 of 25 from the field (48.0 percent), one of two behind the three-point
line and two-for-two at the foul line. Messiah struggled shooting the
ball in the first half, making just eight of 28 field goal attempts,
one of two free throws and missing all five of their three-pointers.
Moravian had a 23-9 advantage in rebounds after the first 20 minutes;
however, the Greyhounds had committed 11 turnovers to just six for the
Falcons. Messiah would slowly get back into the game and eventually

all-time at Moravian in free throws made with 415, 13 shy of breaking
the school record. Freshman guard Kate Harrison had eight points and
six rebounds for the Greyhounds while freshman guard Jessica Foran had
five points and five rebounds. Freshman forward Kirsty Stearns contributed
four points and four boards while freshman guard Amanda Brown had four

Conference action in Johnston Hall. The Blue Jays had an early two-point
lead and were up 6-4 before Moravian took its first lead, 7-6, on a
three-pointer by freshman guard Amanda Brown with 14:13 left in the
first half. That basket started an 11-0 run for the Greyhounds to give
the team a 15-6 lead with 7:51 to play. Elizabethtown rallied and retook
the lead at 22-21 with 2:11 left until the intermission. Moravian got
the lead back and headed to the locker room with a 25-24 advantage.
The Greyhounds made ten of 31 first half field goal attempts (32.3 percent),
one of eight three-pointers and all four of their free throw attempts.
The Blue Jays were ten of 22 from the floor, one of four on three-pointers
and three of six at the foul line. Elizabethtown had a 20-14 edge on
the boards, although the Blue Jays committed 14 turnovers in the first

the eighth player in school history with at least 600 career rebounds.

at Albright College in Commonwealth Conference action. The loss to the
Lions was Moravian's first since a 67-63 loss in Reading on February

led 15-12 with 7:51 remaining in the first half before Moravian went
on a 12-2 run for a 24-17 lead with 5:05 before the intermission. However,

Lions ran off 12 points to head to the locker room with a 29-26 lead.
Moravian was just nine of 35 (25.7 percent) from the floor in the first
half and eight of 11 at the foul line while missing all four three-point
attempts. The Lions were 11 of 24 from the field and seven of 11 at
the charity stripe and also missed all three of their three-point attempts.
Albright used a 10-2 run to start the second half, taking a 39-28 lead
with 17:01 remaining in the game. The Greyhounds pulled within seven
points at 43-36 with 12:52 to play, but the Lions quickly pushed the
lead to 17 points with a 10-0 run over the next three minutes. Albright
would keep its lead in double digits the rest of the way. Moravian's
shooting woes continued in the second half with the Greyhounds making
nine of 31 field goal attempts (29.0 percent) in the second half, two
of five three-pointers and 11 of 15 free throws. Albright improved on
its shooting in the second half, making 14 of 26 field goals, three
of five three-pointers and 12 of 14 free throws. The Lions finished
the game with a 45-38 advantage in rebounds while the Greyhounds forced
24 turnovers while committing just 17. Moravian had two players in double
figures with senior forward Kelly Applegate netting 14 points and freshman
guard Amanda Brown tossing in ten points. Applegate added four rebounds
while Brown had three steals. Senior forward Jenny Hackleman led Moravian
with a game high ten rebounds to go with eight points, three assists
and a pair of blocked shots while freshman guard Jessica Foran had eight
points and five boards off the bench. Sophomore forward Cody Fedorishen
had career highs of eight rebounds and three steals to go with six points
for the Greyhounds while junior guard La'Toya Blake and freshman guard
Kate Harrison each scored four points. Blake did have a game high five
steals while Harrison dished out three assists. Freshman forward Alyssa
Bisci added five rebounds and three points for Moravian. For Albright,
Jaqueline Hardwick led three Lions in double figures with a game high

The Greyhounds earned their third straight victory, defeating Juniata
College, 72-57 in Commonwealth Conference action in Johnston Hall. Moravian
jumped out to a 15-0 lead before the Eagles scored their first basket
at the 11:58 mark. The Greyhounds eventually pushed their first half
lead to 29 points, 41-12 with 27 seconds left in the first half before
heading to the locker room with a 41-16 lead. Moravian was 12 of 34
(34.3 percent) in the first half from the field, two of four on three-pointers
and 15 of 20 from the foul line. The Greyhounds had a 32-24 advantage
on the boards in the first half and forced Juniata into 15 turnovers
in the first 13 1/2 minutes of the game while committing ten turnovers.
Moravian came out in the second half and pushed the lead to 29 again,
twice with the final time at 47-18 with 18:14 remaining in the game.
Juniata would slowly chip into the lead, eventually pulling within ten
points, 64-54, with 3:19 to play. The Greyhounds made nine of 20 field
goal attempts (45.0 percent) in the second half, missed their only three-point
attempt and connected on 13 of 17 free throws. Juniata made 16 of 32

the foul line in the contest. Applegate has moved into seventh all-time
in scoring at Moravian with 1,277 points, and she is now second all-time
in free throws made 408 and tied for second in free throws attempts
with 531. Senior forward Jenny Hackleman had a double-double for the
Greyhounds with 11 points and a game high 11 rebounds to go with three
assists while freshman guard Kate Harrison netted ten points to go with
four rebounds. Sophomore forward Cody Fedorishen had career highs of
seven points and seven rebounds for Moravian while junior guard La'Toya
Blake contributed six points and five steals. Freshmen guards Amanda
Brown and Jessica Foran and freshman forward Alyssa Bisci each had four
points with Bisci grabbing five rebounds for the Greyhounds. Guard Mindy

Moravian won its second straight game and improved to 2-1 in Commonwealth
Conference action with a 77-59 victory over Lebanon Valley College in
Johnston Hall. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 6-0 lead and would hold
a lead the entire game. Moravian led by as many as 12 points in the
first half, 22-10 at the 12:32 mark before the Flying Dutchmen started
to chip away at the lead. Lebanon Valley pulled within two points at
32-30 with 3:57 until the intermisson. Moravian responded with a 10-2
run to head to the locker room with a 42-32 lead. Both teams shot extremely
well in the first half. The Greyhounds were 15 of 30 from the floor,
three of five behind the three-point line and nine of ten at the foul
line while the Flying Dutchmen were 12 of 18 on field goals, two of
three on three-pointers and six of eight at the charity stripe. The
difference came in turnovers where Lebanon Valley committed 19 turnovers
in the first 20 minutes while Moravian had just eight turnovers. The
Flying Dutchmen did have a 13-10 advantage in rebounds. The Greyhounds
would keep their lead in double figures for the entire second half,
pushing it to 25 points twice, the final time at 74-49 with 4:52 to
play in the game. Moravian scored its final points of the game on a
jumper by sophomore forward Rachelle Elneus with 2:10 remaining on the
clock. The Greyhounds made just 12 of 32 field goal attempts (37.5 percent)
in the second half, one of seven three-pointers and ten of 13 free throws;
however, Moravian finished the game with a 30-28 edge in rebounds and
forced Lebanon Valley into 35 turnovers while committing just 18. The

had four players in double figures led by senior forward Jenny Hackleman

The Greyhounds won the consolation game of the 6th Annual STARTERS
Moravian Winter Classic, defeating Lincoln (PA) University, 89-83. The
first half was close early with each team leading by no more than five
points. The Greyhounds finished the first 20 minutes with an 11-0 run
to build a 46-33 advantage. Moravian made 14 of 38 field goal attempts
(36.8 percent in the first half, two of six three-pointers and 16 of
20 free throws. The Lions were 14 of 34 from the floor, one of four
behind the three-point line and four of eight at the foul line in the
first 20 minutes. Lincoln had a 28-21 advantage in rebounds but committed
20 turnovers while the Greyhounds had just nine miscues. Moravian kept
its lead above nine points until the final minute of the game. The Greyhounds
were 13 of 30 in the second half (43.3 percent) and 17 of 20 at the

Moravian dropped a 71-67 non-conference decision to William Paterson
(NJ) University in the first round of the 6th Annual Starters Moravian
Winter Classic. This is the first time in the six-year history of the
tournament the Greyhounds will not be in the championship round while
the victory was the ninth straight this season for the Pioneers. William
Paterson jumped out to an 8-0 lead and would have an 11-point edge twice
before heading into the locker room with a 40-31 lead. Moravian struggled
shooting the ball in the first half, making just 11 of 28 field goal
attempts (39.3 percent), two of four three-pointers and seven of ten
free throws. William Paterson was 15 of 36 from the floor, three of
11 behind the three-point line and seven of 12 at the foul line in the
first 20 minutes. The Pioneers also had a 28-13 edge in rebounds in
the first half and committed ten turnovers while Moravian had nine miscues
in the first half. The Greyhounds came out of the locker room quickly
with a 16-2 run to take a 47-42 lead with 14:11 remaining. The Pioneers
ran back to a 52-49 lead and were up 53-52 with 9:48 to play. William
Paterson then ran of six straight points to build a 59-52 edge. The
Greyhounds would eventually tie the contest at 62-62 with 3:15 remaining
and trailed 66-64 with 40 seconds to play when the Pioneers connected
on five of six free throws to seal the win. The Greyhounds shot better
in the second half, making 12 of 25 field goal attempts (48.0 percent),
one of three three-pointers and 11 of 17 free throws (64.7 percent)
while William Paterson struggled shooting the ball after the intermission.
The Pioneers were just ten of 41 in the second half, four of eight on
three-pointers and seven of 18 at the foul line, although William Paterson
did make five of its last six free throws to win the contest. The Pioneers
had a huge advantage on the boards, out-rebounding the Greyhounds, 59-36

The Greyhounds returned to action after a 29-day break with an 85-50
win at Wilkes University in non-conference action. The win snapped a
two-game losing streak for Moravian. The Greyhounds jumped out to a
42-29 halftime lead after leading by as many as 19 points in the first
20 minutes. Moravian made 15 of 37 field goal attempts (40.5 percent),
four of ten three-pointers and eight of 13 free throws while Wilkes
was 13 of 28 from the floor, one of four behind the three-point line
and two for five at the foul line in the first half. The Colonels cut
the lead to nine points, 42-33, early in the second half, but Moravian
then had a 19-3 run to take control of the game with a 25-point lead
with 12:41 to play. Moravian made 12 of 37 field goal attempts in the
second half (32.7 percent), four of five three-pointers and 15 of 22
free throws. The Greyhounds committed just ten turnovers in the game
while forcing the Colonels into 33 turnovers. Wilkes made eight of 29

Vs. Ursinus College - Lost 72-60 Boxscore
Moravian suffered its second straight loss, falling to Ursinus College,
72-60, in non-conference action as the Greyhounds now have 24 days off
before their next game on January 3rd. The Greyhounds had won nine straight
games over the Bears and had not lost to Ursinus in Johnston Hall since
the first game the two schools played in Bethlehem on January 16, 1981.
Moravian had won 17 straight home games against Ursinus since that first
loss, and the Greyhounds now own a 29-8 all-time lead in the series.
Ursinus jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first three minutes before
Moravian got on the scoreboard with a lay-up by senior forward Kelly
Applegate at the 16:24 mark. The Bears eventually pushed the lead to
15 points at 21-6 with 10:49 remaining in the first half before the
Greyhounds had a 10-2 run to cut lead to seven points at 23-16 with
8:05 left in the first half. Neither team shot well in the first half
but the Bears led, 31-22, at the break thanks to their free throw and
three-point shooting. Ursinus made nine of 29 field goal attempts, three
of eight three-pointers and ten of 11 free throws while the Greyhounds
were nine of 33 from the field (27.3 percent) and four of five at the
foul line. The Greyhounds missed their only three-point attempt of the
first half while the Bears had a 25-21 advantage on the boards in the
first half. When the second half started, Moravian put together a 6-2
run to pull within five points at 33-28 with 17:12 on the clock; however,

put the game away at the foul line, making 22 of 31 free throws after
the intermission, and the Bears were nine for 22 from the field and

to Moravian's 19 turnovers. The Greyhounds had four players in double
figures led by freshman guard Jessica Foran, who tied her career high

Hackleman had her second straight double-double with 15 points and 12

The Greyhounds dropped a 64-57 non-conference decision at The University
of Scranton. Moravian scored the first two points of the game before
the Royals ran off eight straight points for an 8-2 at the 15:35 mark.
Scranton would continue to stretch its lead in the first half to as
many as 21 points with a 30-9 lead with 4:03 to play before the intermission.
The Greyhounds closed the half with a 14-2 run to head to the locker
room, trailing, 32-23. Moravian struggled shooting the ball in the first
half, making just seven of 32 field goal attempts (21.9 percent), two
of five three-pointers and seven of eight free throws while the Royals
connected on 14 of 32 field goal attempts while making all four if their
free throws and missing four three-pointers. Scranton also had a 23-19
advantage in rebounds in the first half. Moravian continued its run

Moravian remained undefeated at home, defeating Drew University, 87-85
in overtime, in a non-conference contest at Johnston Hall. Moravian
is now 4-0 overall in 2006-07 at home and 9-0 at home all-time against
Drew. The Rangers took an early four-point advantage, 8-4 with just
2:18 gone off the clock; however, the Greyhounds responded with a 12-2
run to take a 16-10 lead with 14:27 remaining in the first half. The
six-point edge was Moravian's largest of the first half. Drew answered
with a 9-0 run, taking a 19-16 lead with 12:38 left in the first 20
minutes and the teams would go back-and-forth for the remainder of the
first half with the Greyhounds pushing the lead to five points twice
and heading to the locker room with a 38-37 lead. Moravian connected
on 16 of 38 field goal attempts (42.1 percent), one of four three-pointers
and five of six free throws (83.3 percent) in the first 20 minutes of
action while the Rangers were 15 of 29 from the floor, four of ten behind

Crusaders scored the first five points of the game before Moravian got
on the board with 14:29 remaining in the first half in the first field
goal of the season by senior forward Jenny Hackleman, who had missed
the first five games of the season with an injury. Susquehanna held
the lead the entire first half, pushing it to ten points once at 18-8
with 5:44 remaining in the first half. The Greyhounds got the game back
within four points at 18-14 with 2:55 until the intermission before
the Crusaders went to the locker room with a 23-16 lead. Susquehanna
made nine of 23 field goals, two of six three-pointers and three of
four free throws in the first 20 minutes of the game while Moravian
struggled shooting, making just seven of 31 field goal attempts (22.6
percent), two of four three throws and no three-pointers in four attempts.
The Greyhounds did have a 23-17 advantage in rebounds while both teams
made 13 turnovers in first half. Susquehanna came out quickly and pushed
its lead to double-digits for the remainder of the game at the 17:38
mark of the second half, 29-19. The Crusaders advantage would hit 20
points twice in the second half as Moravian was unable to comeback from
a large second half deficit for the fourth time this season in six games.
The Greyhounds were 12 of 24 from the floor in the second half, including
one-for-four on three-pointers, and one for two at the foul line. Susquehanna
also shot well in the second half of the game, making 12 of 22 field
goal attempts, four of nine three-pointers and eight of ten free throws.
Each team had 32 rebounds in the game. Hackleman along with freshmen
guards Jessica Foran and Kate Harrison each scored eight points in the
game for Moravian with Hackleman adding a team high of six rebounds
along with four steals and two blocked shots in her first action of
the year. Senior forward Kelly Applegate was limited to five rebounds,
four points and three assists in 17 minutes of action for the Greyhounds
while junior guard La'Toya Blake, sophomore forward Rachel Elneus and
freshman forward Alyssa Bisci also had four points apiece. Bisci grabbed
four rebounds while Blake had a team leading five steals. Crystal Schneck
and Nikki Smith led Susquehanna with 11 points apiece while Jen Clark
added nine points and six rebounds for the Crusaders. Ruth Williamson
had seven points and six rebounds while Bri McNallen had seven points,
five assists and four rebounds for Susquehanna.

Vs. The College of New Jersey - Won 48-36 Boxscore
Moravian won its third straight game, defeating The College of New
Jersey, 48-36, in non-conference action at Johnston Hall. The game went
back-and-forth for the first 12 minutes with the lead changing six times
and the game tied twice. The Greyhounds eventually took the lead for
good at 14-11 on a three-pointer by freshman guard Amanda Brown with
7:52 left in the first half. Moravian eventually pushed the lead to
eight points twice, heading to the locker room with a 28-20 advantage.
The Greyhounds shot 36.7 percent (11 of 30) from the floor, 42.9 percent
(three of seven) beyond the three-point line and 75.0 percent (three
of four) at the foul line. The Lions made just seven of 26 field goal
attempts, one of six three-pointers and five of nine free throws in
the first half. Moravian had a 23-17 advantage in rebounds in the game's
first 20 minutes while both teams committed 11 turnovers. Four minutes
into the second half, TCNJ pulled within three points at 32-29 but that
was the closest the Lions would get as Moravian led by at least six
points for the remainder of the game. The Greyhounds pushed the lead
to double-digits with just under three minutes to play. Moravian did
struggle shooting the ball in the second half, making just five of 34
field goal attempts (14.7 percent), no three-pointers in two attempts
and ten of 13 free throws (76.9 percent). The Lions didn't fair much
better, making five of 22 field goals, no three-pointers in three attempts
and six of seven free throws. TCNJ did finish the contest with a 45-43
advantage in rebounds; however, the Lions made 20 turnovers in the second
half for a total of 31 in the game while Moravian had just eight second
half turnovers and 19 total in the contest. The Greyhounds had a pair
of players in double figures with senior forward Kelly Applegate and
freshman forward Kirsty Stearns each netting ten points. Applegate grabbed
a team high nine rebounds to go with two steals while Stearns had five
rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Freshman guard Kate Harrison added
nine points, five rebounds and five steals while senior guard Katie
Rizman had five points and a pair of steals. Sophomore forward Rachel
Elneus also tossed in five points and added two steals. Brown had a
pair of rebounds to go with her three-pointer while freshman guard Jessica
Foran contributed four points and three steals for the Greyhounds. Freshman
forward Alyssa Bisci came off the bench to grab three rebounds while
sophomore forward Cody Fedorishen had three assists and two rebounds
for Moravian. Junior forward Sara Best and sophomore center Hillary
Klimowicz each led the Lions with ten points, and Klimowicz added nine
rebounds, three assists and six blocked shots. Senior forward Breanne
Depken contributed nine rebounds, four points and two blocked shots
for TCNJ as the Lions blocked 12 shots in the game.

Vs. Widener University - Won 58-55 Boxscore
The Greyhounds rallied from a 24-point deficit in the final 17 minutes
to defeat Widener University, 58-55, in the Commonwealth Conference
season opener for both schools in Johnston Hall. Both teams struggled
early with Moravian scoring the first point of the game on a free throw
by senior forward Kelly Applegate at the 17:35 mark of the first half.
The teams were tied at 5-5 with 15:49 remaining until halftime when
Widener went on a 9-0 run to build at 14-5 lead. The Pride would continue
to build its lead, eventually to 24 points, 34-10, with 2:18 remaining
in the first half. Moravian scored the final four points of the half
to head to the locker room trailing by 20 points, 34-14. The Greyhounds
made just five of 33 field goal attempts (15.2 percent) in the first
half, and Moravian missed all six of its three-point attempts and was
four of six at the foul line. On the other hand, Widener had the hot
hand in the first half, connecting on 13 of 26 field goal attempts,
four of seven three-pointers and four of six free throws. Both teams
had 22 rebounds and committed 13 turnovers in the first half. The Pride
came out of the locker room and pushed the lead back to 24 points at
38-14 with 18:02 remaining in the game. Moravian would start on its
comeback at the 16:51 mark when freshman forward Kirsty Stearns hit
a pair of free throws to cut into the 24-point deficit. Widener still
had a 19-point lead with 11:58 remaining, up 46-27; however, Moravian
went on an 18-1 run to pull within two points at 47-45 with 6:10 left
on the clock. The Pride pushed the lead back to six points, 51-45 with
5:29 remaining before the Greyhounds eventually tied the contest at
53-53 with 2:20 left in the game. Moravian finally retook the lead on
a pair of free throws by freshman guard Kate Harrison with 1:48 remaining,
but Widener answered and tied the contest at 55-55 on a jumper by sophomore
guard Beth Dessart Mager with 1:23 remaining. Harrison connected on
a jumper with 58 seconds left to put Moravian in the lead for good,
and Stearns hit a free throw with eight seconds left to secure the win.
The Greyhounds finished the game with a 44-17 run over the final 16:51.
Moravian shot much better in the second half, making 15 of 33 field
goal attempts (45.5 percent), two of four three-pointers and 12 of 16
free throws (75.0 percent), while the Pride struggled in the second
half, making just seven of 24 field goals, one of eight three-pointers
and six of nine free throws. Widener did have a 42-39 advantage in rebounds
in the game, but the Pride committed 17 second half turnovers to just
seven miscues for Moravian after the break. Applegate led all scorers
and three Moravian players in double figures with 17 points. Applegate,
who missed all of her field goal attempts in the first half and had
just three points in the first 20 minutes of the game, also recorded
11 rebounds for her second straight double-double and third of the season.
During the game, Applegate also moved up two spots to tenth in school
history with 1,153 career points, and she has 533 career rebounds. Applegate
added four steals and two assists in the victory. Harrison had a career
high 15 points for the Greyhounds with ten in the second half, and Harrison
had a team high five steals to go with three rebounds and a blocked
shot. Stearns also reached double figures for Moravian with all 12 of
her points coming in the second half. Stearns also recorded her first
career double-double with 11 rebounds, and she had four steals and a
blocked shot. Freshman guard Jessica Foran netted nine points for the
Greyhounds, the first game of her collegiate career she failed to reach
double figures, and Foran contributed four steals, three assists and
three rebounds. Sophomore forward Cody Fedorishen grabbed five rebounds
for Moravian while freshman guard Amanda Brown had three points, three
assists and two steals. Sophomore forward Kelley Guarrera led Widener
with 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists before fouling out while
sophomore guard Megan Sipple had 12 points and four assists for the
Pride. Junior forward/center Stephanie Bixby had 11 rebounds, seven
points and three steals for Widener while Dessart Mager had nine points
and five rebound. Junior guard/forward Dominique Kidd added seven points
and four rebounds for the Pride.

Vs. DeSales University - Won 79-70 Boxscore
Moravian used a 10-3 run over the final 3:29 to secure a 79-70 victory
over local rival DeSales University at Johnston Hall. The win was the
Greyhounds first over the Bulldogs at home since November 23, 1993.
Moravian jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first three minutes of the
game only to see DeSales rally and tie the contest at 16-15 with 11:43
remaining in the first half. The game was tied for the third and final
time at 23-23 with 7:53 until the intermission as the Greyhounds led
the entire contest. Moravian headed to the locker room with a 39-36
lead after shooting 15 of 31 (48.4 percent) from the floor, two of three
on three-pointers and seven of ten at the foul line in the first 20
minutes of the game. The Bulldogs were 11 of 24 from the field, four
of 11 behind the three-point line and ten of 16 at the foul line in
the first half. Both teams committed 15 first half turnovers with the
difference in the game coming at on the boards as Moravian had a 20-12
advantage in rebounds in the first half. The Greyhounds built a nine-point
lead, 47-38, just under three minutes into the second half; however,
DeSales eventually pulled within a point at 61-60 with 6:52 to play
in the game. The Bulldogs trailed just 69-66 with 3:44 remaining when
the Greyhounds started to ice the game at the foul line, making all
six of their free throws in the final 3:29. Moravian was 13 of 27 from
the floor in the second half (48.1 percent) and made one of four three-pointers
and 13 of 14 free throws (92.9 percent). The Greyhounds also had a 20-14
advantage in rebounds in the second half to out rebound DeSales 40-26
for the game. The Bulldogs struggled from the floor in the second half,
making just nine of 25 field goal attempts, five of 11 three-pointers
and 11 of 18 free throws. Senior forward Kelly Applegate led all scorers
and four Moravian players in double-figures with a season high 26 points,
and she added 14 rebounds for her first double-double of the year. Applegate,
who moved into 12th all-time in both points and rebounds with 1,136
points and 522 rebounds for her career, also had three assists and three
steals in the victory while shooting seven of 11 from the floor and
12 of 15 at the foul line. Freshman guard Jessica Foran hit double figures
for the third straight game for the Greyhounds, netting 14 points to
go with five rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists. Senior guard
Katie Rizman and freshman guard Amanda Brown each tossed in ten points
for Moravian with Brown dishing out five assists. Freshman forward Kirsty
Stearns contributed eight points and a career high nine rebounds while
junior guard La'Toya Blake had five points, five steals and three assists.
Freshman guard Kate Harrison added three assists for the Greyhounds.
Senior forward Kirby Lutz led DeSales with 16 points and four assists
while freshman forward Caitlin Miller had 12 points and eight rebounds.
Freshman guard/forward Kaila Wiand and sophomore guard LeighAnn Burke
each scored ten points for the Bulldogs.

At Johns Hopkins University in Mike Durgala Memorial
Tournament - Lost 85-75 Boxscore
The Greyhounds fell to host Johns Hopkins University, 85-75, in the
championship game of the Mike Durgala Memorial Tournament to begin the
2006-07 season. Moravian had an early lead in the contest, and the Greyhounds
led by five points several times with the last time at 17-12 with 11:35
to play in the first half. The Blue Jays countered with a 21-5 run to
take a 33-22 lead with 4:09 remaining in the half. Johns Hopkins would
head to the locker room with a 40-31 lead after shooting 15 of 35 from
the floor, two of nine behind the three-point line and eight of ten
at the foul line. Moravian made just nine of 30 first half field goal
attempts (30.0 percent), one of four three-pointers and 12 of 15 free
throws (80.0 percent). The Blue Jays started the second half with a
21-11 run to build a 61-42 lead with 12:54 remaining in the game. Moravian
would slowly pull closer, eventually getting back within five points
twice, the final time at 74-69 with 3:41 remaining. The Blue Jays put
the game away at the foul line, making seven of eight free throws in
the final 1:45. Johns Hopkins made 11 of 21 second half field goals,
and the Blue Jays were five of seven behind the three-point line and
18 of 22 at the foul line. Moravian made just 17 of 45 second half field
goals (37.8 percent); however, the Greyhounds missed all seven of their
second half three-pointers and were ten for 12 at the foul line (83.3
percent). Johns Hopkins had a 51-37 advantage in rebounds despite being
forced into 33 turnovers by Moravian, which only committed 20 turnovers.
The Greyhounds had two players in double figures with senior forward
Kelly Applegate netting a game high 22 points and freshman Jessica Foran
scoring a career best 17 points. Both Applegate and Foran earned spots
on the All-Tournament Team. Applegate, who became the 13th player in
school history to score 1,100 career points, added three rebounds and
two steals while Foran had a team high six rebounds and two steals.
Junior guard La'Toya Blake and freshman forward Kirsty Stearns each
netted eight points for the Greyhounds with Blake adding three steals
and Stearns grabbing four rebounds. Freshman guard Kate Harrison contributed
six points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists for Moravian
while freshman guard Amanda Brown had five points and two boards. Sophomore
forward Cody Fedorishen also netted five points while senior guard Katie
Rizman had six rebounds and two points for the Greyhounds. Whitney Davis,
the Tournament MVP, led Johns Hopkins with 21 points while Julie Miller
added 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Blue Jays. Kristin Phillips
came off the bench to contributed 16 points and a game high 14 rebounds
for Johns Hopkins.

Vs. Ferrum (VA) College at Mike Durgala Memorial
Tournament hosted by Johns Hopkins University - Won 75-72 Boxscore
Moravian opened the 2006-07 season with a 75-72 come-from-behind victory
over Ferrum (VA) College on the first day of the Mike Durgala Memorial
Tournament being hosted by Johns Hopkins University. The Greyhounds
will play the host Blue Jays in the championship game. Moravian trailed
Ferrum, 69-55, with just under six minutes to play in the game, but
the Greyhounds finished on a 20-3 run to earn the victory. Moravian
had led 25-24 with just under six minutes to play in the first half
when the Panthers finish the first half on a 15-7 run for a 39-32 halftime
edge. The Greyhounds were 13 of 30 (43.3 percent) from the floor in
the first half, making two of five three-pointers, and Moravian was
just four of nine (44.9 percent) at the foul line while Ferrum made
15 of 32 field goals, two of nine three-pointers and seven of 13 free
throws in the first half. Ferrum's largest lead of the game came with
7:17 remaining in the game when the Panthers led by 15 points, 67-52.
Down 69-55 with 5:57 left in the contest, Moravian scored 16 straight
points to take a 71-69 lead at the 2:11 mark on a pair of free throws
by senior forward Kelly Applegate. Ferrum responded at the foul line
to retake the lead at 72-71 only to see Applegate give Moravian the
lead for good at the one minute mark with a lay-up. Freshman forward
Alyssa Bisci scored with ten seconds left to secure the Greyhound win.
In the second half, Moravian made 14 of 31 field goal attempts (45.2
percent), two of four three-pointers and 13 of 18 free throws (72.2
percent). Ferrum was just nine of 24 in the second half with two three-pointers
and 13 of 17 free throws. The Panthers also finished the game with a
44-32 advantage in rebounds. Applegate led four Greyhounds in double
figures with 13 points, and she grabbed a team high six rebounds to
become the 14th player in school history to reach the 500-career rebound
plateau. Freshman forward Kirsty Stearns added 12 points and five rebounds
in her first collegiate start while freshman guard Kate Harrison and
freshman guard Jessica Foran each netted 11 points. Harrison added six
rebounds and a game high five steals. With senior forward Jenny Hackleman
out with an injury, the Greyhounds finished the game with three freshmen,
Applegate and junior guard La'Toya Blake on the floor. Blake contributed
three assists while Bisci had eight points off the bench. Senior guard
Katie Rizman had nine points, three rebounds and a pair of assists for
Moravian while freshman guard Amanda Brown had five points, two rebounds
and two assists. Sophomore forward Rachelle Elneus added four points
and a pair of rebounds while sophomore forward Cody Fedorishen had two
points, two rebounds and a pair of blocked shots for the Greyhounds.
Aline Alzime led Ferrum with a double-double including 21 points and
12 rebounds while Alexandria Davenport and Ashley Norton each netted
12 points for the Panthers.
