The
Moravian College 2006-2007 women’s basketball team made the postseason
for the sixth consecutive season and finished as the runner up in the
Commonwealth Conference tournament for the fifth straight year. The Greyhounds
ended out the season by winning the 2007 ECAC Division III Southern Championship.
Moravian was seventh seed in the ECAC Southern Tournament and defeated
the top three seeds all on the road to win the championship.
Head coach Mary Beth Spirk, who completed her 20th
season with the Greyhounds, led Moravian to an overall record of 19-11.
Senior forward Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS),
who was named to the Commonwealth All Conference First Team for the second straight
season, led the team in points averaging 15.1 per game and in free-throws
with 138 made. Applegate also had 195 rebounds, 45 assists,
11 blocks, and 50 steals this season. Applegate ended
out her career as a Greyhound with 1,529 points, which is fifth all-time,
and 694 rebounds, which ranks seventh. Applegate also
set career records with 468 made free throws and 610 free throws attempted.
Senior forward Jenny Hackleman (Arroyo Grande, CA/Rutgers Prep
{NJ} HS) put up 11.2 points per contest while contributing 65
assists, 50 steals, and led the team in rebounds with 229, and in blocks
with 32 this season. Hackleman was also named to the
Commonwealth All Conference Second Team. Hackleman finished out
her career with 814 rebounds, which is third all-time, and with 1,161
points, which is 11th all-time.
Freshman guard Jessica Foran (Annandale, NJ/Rutgers Prep HS)
put up 9.2 points per-game, 47 steals, four blocks, 96 rebounds, and 44
assists while freshman forward Kirsty Stearns (East Norwich, NY/Oyster
Bay HS) contributed 9.1 points per-contest, 125 rebounds, 21
assists, 13 blocks, and 22 steals. Freshman guard Kate Harrison
(Cold Spring Harbor, NY/Cold Spring Harbor HS) had 7.5 points
per-outing this season while grabbing 92 rebounds, 48 assists, and 47
steals.
Freshman guard Amanda Brown (Schuylkill Haven, PA/Schuylkill
Haven HS) lead the Greyhounds in three-pointers made with 51
total and assists with 66 in all, while also contributing 6.9 points per-game,
and 26 steals. Senior guard Kate Rizman (Wall, NJ/St. Rose HS)
had 79 points this season with 12 three-pointers, 23 assists,
and 13 steals while freshman forward Alyssa Bisci (Easton, PA/Easton
HS) put up 109 points, 12 steals, 75 rebounds and 18 assists.
Sophomore forward Cody Fedorishen (Nazareth, PA/Allentown Central
Catholic HS) contributed 64 points, 11 steals, 5 blocks, and
14 assists, while junior guard La’Toya Blake (Allentown,
PA/Dieruff HS) led the team in steals with 74 of them, and put
up 65 points, 48 assists, and 60 rebounds.
Also contributing for the Greyhounds were senior guard Kristina
Adams (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery HS), who had 13 points, and
five steals, sophomore forward Rachelle Elneus (Easton, PA/Notre
Dame HS), who had 23 points, six steals and 12 rebounds, junior
guard Tina Moll (Kintnersville, PA/Palisades HS), who
put up nine points, and six rebounds, freshman guard Alexis DiFazio
(East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park HS) with eight points and one
steal, and junior guard Megan Kocon (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS),
who had 15 points, and 13 rebounds. Freshman guard Lauren Foraznor
(Rivervale, NJ/Pascack Valley HS) and sophomore guard Lindsey
Williams (Kingston, PA/Bishop O'Reilly HS) contributed limited
action this season.
Applegate, Kocon, Moll,
Elneus, and Fedorishen were all named
to the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Winter Academic
Honor Roll.
