At Washington & Jefferson College in ECAC Division III Southern Quarterfinals - Lost 86-76 Boxscore
Moravian had its 2007-08 season come to a close with an 86-76 loss at Washington & Jefferson College in the 2008 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III Southern Quarterfinals. The Greyhounds, who were the defending ECAC Southern Champion and seeded fifth in this year's tournament, dropped their third straight game to finish the year at 16-11. The fourth seeded Presidents, who shot a torrid 31 of 52 from the floor (59.6 percent), ten of 14 beyond the three-point line and a perfect 14-for-14 at the foul line, advance to the ECAC Semifinals against Gwynedd-Mercy College. Washington & Jefferson jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in the game before the Greyhounds got on the scoreboard on a jumper by sophomore forward Kirsty Stearns with 18:02 remaining in the first half. Moravian would close within two points at 10-8 on a lay-up by sophomore guard Jessica Foran at the 16:07 mark. The Presidents would maintain the lead, including pushing the lead back to eight points twice, before Greyhound sophomore guard Amanda Brown connected on a three-pointer with 6:17 remaining in the first half to give Moravian its first lead of the game at 25-24. However, the lead wouldn't last long as Washington & Jefferson scored on its next possession to take the lead right back on a three-pointer by guard Kennan Killeen. Killeen's three-pointer started a 13-3 Presidents' run that gave Washington & Jefferson its largest lead of the first half, 37-28 with 3:17 to play. The Presidents headed to the locker room with a 44-39 advantage after shooting 17 of 25 from the floor, eight of ten on three-pointers and two-for-two at the foul line. Washington & Jefferson also had a 19-7 edge in rebounds in the first 20 minutes. Moravian was 15 of 34 from the field (44.1 percent), five of 11 on three-pointers and a perfect four-for-four at the foul line in the first half, and the Greyhounds committed just two turnovers in the first 20 minutes while forcing the Presidents into 13 turnovers. Moravian would come out of the locker room and tie the contest at 48-48 on a lay-up by senior guard LaToya Blake with 16:37 to go after Blake stole the ball. Washington & Jefferson pulled back in front and held the advantage again until Foran hit a lay-up t the 6:50 mark to give Moravian a brief 61-60 lead. The Presidents pulled right back ahead on three-pointer by guard Stephanie Smith, one of her Washington & Jefferson school record eight three-pointers in the game, with 6:17 to play. The Greyhound tied the contest for the final time at the 5:58 mark on a jumper from sophomore guard Kate Harrison. The Presidents would see Moravian get within a point one more time on a three-pointer by Brown, who made six three-pointers of her own for the Greyhounds, to pull Moravian to a 69-68 deficit with 3:20 to go. A Harrison jumper pulled Moravian within two points, 72-70, with 2:20 remaining and a Brown jumper cut the Presidents' lead to 76-72 with 1:07 to play. From that point, Washington & Jefferson would go a perfect ten-for-ten at the foul line to ice the game. The Presidents were 14 of 27 from the field, two of four on three-pointers and 12-for-12 at the foul line in the second half, and Washington & Jefferson finished the game with a 38-20 edge in rebounds. The Greyhounds were just 12 of 32 from the floor (37.5 percent), four of ten behind the three-point line and nine for 12 at the foul line in final 20 minutes of the game. Moravian did commit a season low eight turnovers while forcing Washington & Jefferson into 23 turnovers. The Greyhounds had a balanced scoring attack with five player in double figures led by Brown's 20 points. Foran tossed in 14 points and grabbed a team high four rebounds to go with two assists and two steals while Stearns had 13 points, three rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots. Sophomore forward Alyssa Bisci contributed 12 points for Moravian while Harrison had ten points, three assists and a career high seven steals. Blake had two points and three steals in her final contest in a Greyhound uniform while senior guard Megan Kocon had a three-pointer, a rebound and an assist in her final collegiate action. Sophomore forward Lauren Fornazor added two points for Moravian while freshman guard/forward Emily Smith grabbed two rebounds. Smith led four Washington & Jefferson players in double figures with a game high 24 points as she was eight for 13 from the floor and eight for 12 on three-pointers. Forward Maggie Gibson had a double-double for the Presidents with 14 points and a game high ten rebounds while forward Emily Hays added 14 points, five rebounds and three assists. Killeen had 13 points, seven assists and six rebounds for Washington & Jefferson while Maria Hillenbrand and Sarah Hunt each had six points. Jen Rogers added six rebounds, four assists and four points.

At Juniata College in Landmark Conference Semifinals - Lost 61-59 Boxscore
The third seeded Greyhounds dropped a 61-59 decision at second seed Juniata College in the Landmark Conference semifinals. Moravian was making its seventh straight postseason appearance and for the first time in since the string of postseason berths began; the Greyhounds will not participate in the conference championship game. Juniata jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a three-pointer by Ali Meckey. Moravian would trail, 9-7, after a lay-up by senior guard LaToya Blake at the 17:20 mark when the Eagles went on a 7-0 run to take a 16-7 lead on the three-pointer by Claudia McDowell with 13:56 remaining before halftime. The Greyhounds responded with a 15-0 run of their own to take a 22-16 lead after a three-point play by sophomore guard Kate Harrison with 8:28 to go in the first half. Moravian's lead would eventually hit nine points twice, the final time at 30-21 on a jumper by freshman guard/forward Emily Smith with 4:35 to go in the first 20 minutes. The Eagles would rattle off eight straight points to pull within 30-29 on a lay-up by Kelly Ashcraft with 46 seconds remaining in the first half. Moravian sophomore guard Jessica Foran hit a pair of free throws with 29 seconds to go to send the Greyhounds to the locker room with a 32-29 lead. Moravian was 12 of 29 (41.4 percent) from the floor and a perfect eight-for-eight at the foul line in the first 20 minutes of the game, and the Greyhounds had a 15-13 advantage in rebounds. Moravian, which missed all four of its three-point attempts in the first half, also forced Juniata into 15 turnovers while committing 11. The Eagles had a hot hand in the first half, making 12 of 22 field goal attempts, two of five three-pointers and three of four free throws. Early in the second half, the lead went back-and-forth with neither team leading by more than a point until Ashcraft hit a lay-up at the 15:46 mark to put the Eagles up 37-34. Juniata would eventually push its lead to five points twice, first on a Meckey lay-up at 13:40 and then on a Meckey three-pointer at the 12:22 mark to lead 46-41. The Greyhounds would cut the Juniata lead to a point, 46-45, with 9:26 to go on a lay-up by Smith only to see the Eagles push the lead back to five points, 52-47, on an Ashcraft jumper with 5:40 remaining. Moravian would put together an 8-2 run to take a 55-54 lead on a jumper by Harrison with 3:56 left in the contest. However, that was the Greyhounds' last basket from the floor in the contest. Junior briefly retook the lead, 56-55 on a lay-up by Courtney Callas before Harrison hit two free throws to put Moravian back in the lead, 57-56 with 3:06 remaining. Foran would extend Moravian's lead to 59-56 with a pair of free throws at the 2:42 mark, but the Greyhounds would not score again. Meckey pulled Juniata within a point, 59-58 with 2:20 to go, and then neither team would score again until Juniata's Jen Hnatuck made a lay-up with 19 seconds left to give the Eagles a 60-59 lead. Ashcraft hit a free throw with six seconds left to set the final score. Moravian struggled shooting the ball in the second half, making just nine of 28 field goal attempts (32.1 percent), one of four three-pointers and eight of ten free throws. The Greyhounds did finish the game with a 33-31 advantage in rebounds, and Moravian forced 26 Juniata turnovers while committing 19 of its own. The Eagles continued to have the hot hand in the final 20 minutes, making 14 of 28 field goal attempts, one of six three-pointers and three of five free throws. The Greyhounds had three players in double figures in the contest led by 17 points from Harrison, who also grabbed four rebounds. Foran tossed in 13 points and added a team high six rebounds while sophomore forward Kirsty Stearns returned to the line-up after missing a game with six boards and four points. Smith tossed in ten points for Moravian and grabbed four rebounds while Blake had six points. Sophomore forward Alyssa Bisci had four points, four rebounds and three steals for the Greyhounds while sophomore forward Lauren Fornazor had three steals. Juniata also had three players in double figures with Ashcraft netting a game high 21 points to go with five boards. Hnatuck contributed 14 points and a game high eight rebounds while Meckey had 12 points, three assists and two boards for the Eagles. McDowell added nine points, a game high seven assists, four rebounds and four steals.

Vs. The University of Scranton - Lost 92-85 (double overtime) Boxscore
Moravian dropped its final home game of the 2007-08 regular season falling to The University of Scranton, 92-85, in double overtime in Johnston Hall. The Greyhounds drop to the third seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament with the loss and will travel to Juniata College on Wednesday, February 27th for a Landmark Conference Semifinal beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Royals will host the United States Merchant Marine Academy in the other semifinal contest. Moravian, which played against Scranton without starting forward Kirsty Stearns who was injured in practice on Thursday, jumped out to a 4-0 lead on baskets by senior guard LaToya Blake and sophomore forward Alyssa Bisci. The Royals would tie the game at 4-4 on a jumper by senior forward Michelle Fabio at the 16:34 mark. Scranton would take its first lead of the game on a jumper from freshman guard Megan Kopecki with 15:36 to play in the first half. The game went back-and-forth for the next four minutes with the Greyhounds tying the game at 13-13 and pulling ahead 14-13 on a pair of free throws from sophomore guard Kate Harrison with 11:50 until the intermission. Moravian would hold a lead for the next 18 minutes of the game. Greyhound sophomore guard Amanda Brown connected on a three-pointer with 6:22 to go in the first half to give Moravian its largest lead of the first half, 11 points 30-19, and the Greyhounds would head to the locker room with a 38-28 advantage. Moravian connected on 13 of 30 field goal attempts (43.3 percent), two of four three-pointers and ten of 11 free throws in the first 20 minutes of the contest. The Greyhounds did commit ten turnovers in the first half but forced Scranton into 15 turnovers. The Royals were 12 of 32 from the floor, one of six on three-pointers and three of five at the foul line in the first half, and Scranton has a 23-15 advantage on the boards. Bisci scored the first points of the second half from Moravian, giving the Greyhounds a 12-point lead, 40-28, their largest of the game at the 18:22 mark. Scranton would go on an 18-6 run to tie the contest at 46-46 on a jumper by senior forward Kathleen Daly with 13:12 remaining. Brown hit another three-pointer to give Moravian a brief lead again but the Royals would move ahead on a Kopecki jumper with 12:05 remaining in regulation. With the Greyhounds trailing 52-49 after a lay-up by Scranton junior center Molly Klusek, Moravian went on an 11-3 run pull ahead by seven points, 60-53, on a free throw by freshman guard/forward Emily Smith with 4:49 to play. The Royals would run off six straight points to cut the Greyhound advantage to just a point, 60-59, on a lay-up by freshman guard Colleen McLane with 2:20 to go. However, the Greyhounds would build a five-point lead, 67-62, with 41 seconds remaining on a free throw by Brown. McLane hit a three-pointer with 33 seconds to go to cut the Moravian lead to 67-65, and a Greyhound turnover on the team's next possession allowed Scranton senior guard Stephanie Remington to hit a lay-up with 11 seconds remaining to tie the game at 67-67. Brown put the Greyhounds back in the lead with a pull-up jumper with five seconds to play. Scranton would call a timeout with 4.9 seconds remaining in regulation, and after the timeout, Royal sophomore guard Ryan Mooney would dribble down the court and find Remington in the corner for a long jump shot. Remington's shot appeared to come after the buzzer but was ruled good by the officials, who also ruled Remington's foot was on the three-point line, tying the contest at 69-69 and forcing the overtime session. Scranton was 14 of 33 from the field, two of nine on three-pointers and 11 of 19 at the foul line in the second 20 minutes of the game while the Greyhounds were 12 of 32 from the floor (37.5 percent), one of one on three-pointers and just six of 11 at the foul line. Moravian entered the game as the seventh ranked free throw shooting team in the nation at 75.4 percent. Remington needed just 15 seconds into the first overtime to give Scranton a 71-69 lead on a jumper. However, Moravian would hit four free throws, two each by Brown and Harrison, to pull ahead 73-71 with 3:54 to go. Kopecki would convert on a three-point play at the 3:35 mark to put the Royals ahead again, 74-73. Moravian responded with a pair of Bisci free throws and a Smith lay-up to take a 77-74 lead with 2:11 to play in the first overtime. Fabio would connect on three of four free throws for Scranton to tie the game for the 12th time at 77-77 with 43 seconds remaining. However, the Greyhounds pulled back out in front on a jumper by Harrison with 18 seconds left in the overtime session. Scranton would get a pair of shots off in the final five seconds before the ball went out of bounds off of the Greyhounds with 1.4 seconds to play. Mooney's inbound pass found Remington driving through the lane, and Remington's jumper fell through the rim as time expired, tying the contest against at 79-79 and forcing another five-minute overtime period. By this point of the game, Moravian, already playing without Stearns, had had two other starters, Blake and sophomore guard Jessica Foran, foul out of the contest with Blake fouling out with 2:20 to go in regulation. At the start of the second overtime, Klusek scored five straight points for Scranton as the Royals jumped out to an 84-79 lead. Moravian would pull within two points, 84-82, on a Brown three-pointer with 2:48 to play, but Scranton would prove to be too much after Harrison foul out for the Greyhounds, leaving Bisci as the only normal starter on the floor. Scranton was seven for 18 from the floor and nine of 13 at the foul line in the two overtime periods. The Royals, who missed both of their three-pointers in the extra ten minutes, finished the game with a 61-46 advantage in rebounds. Moravian was just four of 15 (26.7 percent) from the field, two of seven behind the three-point line and a perfect six-for-six at the foul line in the two overtimes. Moravian would finish the game with four players in double figures led by Harrison, who had career highs of 22 points and nine rebounds to go along with three assists and a pair of blocked shots. Brown tossed in 19 points while Smith netted a career best 18 points to go along with a career high nine rebounds, three steals and two assists. Bisci finished the game with 14 points and nine boards for the Greyhounds while freshman forward Amie Ballo had five rebounds, four points and two blocked shots off of the bench. Foran, who entered the game as Moravian's leading scorer at 13.3 points per game, was limited to four points, all at the foul line, in just 22 minutes. Blake had two points, two rebounds and a career high seven steals in 23 minutes of action while sophomore forward Lauren Fornazor had six rebounds and two points in the contest for the Greyhounds. Scranton placed five players in double figures led by Kopecki's 21 points. She also had eight rebounds and six assists. Daly had a double-double for the Royals with 16 points and a game high 13 rebound to go with four assists while Remington had 13 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots. Klusek had 11 points including the first seven for Scranton in the second overtime to go along with three rebounds while freshman guard Brittany Bontemps had ten points and six rebounds off of the bench for the Royals. Mooney netted just four points for Scranton but had a team high eight assists to go with four rebounds and three steals while Fabio added seven points, five boards and three steals.

The Greyhounds won their final road game of the regular season and extended their winning streak to three straight games with an 81-57 win at The Catholic University of America in Landmark Conference action. Moravian, ranked in the top ten in the nation in free throw percentage, was 44 of 58 at the foul line in the contest, and the Greyhounds attempted just 52 field goals in the victory. The 44 free throws made surpased the old school record of 41 set in 1992. Sophomore guard Kate Harrison gave Moravian an early 2-0 lead, scoring just seven seconds into the contest. The Cardinals tied the game at 4-4 with 18:56 remaining in the first half when the Greyhounds went on a 15-0 run to build a 19-4 lead at the 13:14 mark on a lay-up by freshman guard/forward Emily Smith. Moravian's lead would remain in double digits the rest of the first half with the Greyhounds holding their largest lead of the half, 22 points, 48-26, with just 15 seconds remaining in the half. Moravian, which went to the locker room with a 48-28 lead, shot the ball well in the first 20 minutes, connecting on 12 of 28 field goal attempts (43.0 percent), one of five on three-pointers and 23 of 28 at the foul line. Moravian clinched its seventh straight postseason appearance and a spot in the first-ever Landmark Conference Tournament with a 72-62 victory at Goucher College. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 4-0 lead on a pair of free throws by sophomore forward Alyssa Bisci and a lay-up by sophomore forward Kirsty Stearns in the first minute of the game, and Moravian never trailed in the contest. The Greyhounds lead would hit double digits for the first time with 4:40 remaining in the first half on a three-pointer by sophomore guard Amanda Brown that gave Moravian a 28-18 lead. The Greyhounds headed to the locker room with a 36-24 halftime lead after shooting 15 of 27 from the field (55.6 percent), two of six on three-pointers and a perfect four-for-four at the foul line. Moravian had a 20-14 edge in rebounds during the first half, and the Greyhounds had 11 turnovers in the first 20 minutes. Moravian jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead at the start of the game and pushed the lead to double digits for the first time at 28-18 on a jumper by sophomore forward Kirsty Stearns. Moravian headed to the locker room with a 44-24 lead at halftime after shooting 17 of 30 from the floor (56.7 percent) and a perfect ten-for-ten at the foul line. The Greyhounds missed all three of their three-point attempts in the first 20 minutes but had a 22-8 advantage in rebounds. Drew was 11 of 26 from the field, one of three on three-pointers and one of three on free throws in the first half. In the second half, Moravian's lead remained at least 14 points with the biggest advantage of 27 points, 61-34, coming with 12:49 remaining in the contest. Moravian dropped a 69-65 decision to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 69-65, in Landmark Conference action in Johnston Hall. The Greyhounds took part in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's "Think Pink" initiative during the game and wore special pink uniforms. Moravian raised more than $1,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. In the game, Moravian jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Mariners scored six straight points to take a 6-5 advantage at the 16:27 mark. The game went back-and-forth for the next eight minutes with the Greyhounds eventually building another five-point lead, 16-11, on a three-pointer by sophomore guard Amanda Brown with 12:15 remaining in the first half. U.S. Merchant Marine responded with an 8-0 run to take a 19-16 lead on a jumper by junior guard Stephanie Waller with 8:27 left before the intermission. Moravian would tie the contest at 24-24 with 4:36 on the clock on a free throw by freshman guard/forward Emily Smith; however, the Mariners finished the half with an 8-4 run to head to the locker room with a 32-28 halftime lead. Moravian was just eight for 24 from the field (33.3 percent), three of seven on three-pointers and nine of 14 at the foul line in the first 20 minutes of the game. The Greyhounds did have an 18-17 edge in rebounds; however, Moravian had 12 turnovers to 11 miscues for the Mariners. U.S. Merchant Marine was 13 of 29 on field goal attempts, four of 12 on three-pointers and a perfect two-for-two at the foul line in the first half. The Mariners made their lead 11 points, 39-28 early in the second half on a three-pointer by junior guard Kristen Hetsko with 18:01 remaining in the game. Moravian responded with a 10-0 run to pull within 39-38 on a Brown jumper with 15:40 to play. U.S. Merchant Marine pushed its lead back to five points on several occasions before the Greyhounds retook the lead, 53-52, on a jumper by sophomore forward Alyssa Bisci with 6:02 left in the contest. The lead wouldn't last long as the Mariners jumped right back in front to a 58-53 lead on a pair of Waller free throws.

Moravian would get the lead back one more time at 63-61 on a three-pointer by sophomore guard Jessica Foran with 1:59 to play; however, the Greyhounds scored just two points the remainder of the game. U.S. Merchant Marine made four of six free throws in the final 26 seconds to win the contest. Both teams shot better in the second half with Moravian connecting on 14 of 34 field goal attempts (41.2 percent), five of nine three-pointers and all four of its free throw attempts while the Mariners were 13 of 24 from the floor, four of seven behind the three-point line and seven of ten at the foul line. The Greyhounds had a 35-34 edge on the boards, just the seventh time Moravian has out-rebounded an opponent this season, and the Greyhounds have lost the last two times that they have had more rebounds in a game. Moravian also had 18 turnovers in the game while forcing U.S. Merchant Marine into 21 turnovers. The Greyhounds had three players in double figures led by 16 points by Brown. Brown also had three assists and three steals. Foran and Bisci each had 14 points and four rebounds for Moravian. Sophomore forward Kirsty Stearns grabbed a game high ten rebounds to go along with eight points and two blocked shots while sophomore guard Kate Harrison had eight points and four rebounds. Smith had six rebounds and five points off of the bench for the Greyhounds. Hetsko led US Merchant Marine with a game high 22 points while going six-for-11 behind the three-point line. Waller added 11 points, four rebound and three steals for the Mariners while junior center Hannah Eko had nine points, six rebounds and three blocked shots off of the bench. Senior center Morgan Gartner had eight points, four rebounds and three assists for US Merchant Marine while sophomore forward Kiersten Healy had eight points, seven rebounds and three assists. The Greyhounds snapped a two-game losing streak and moved into sole possession of second place in the Landmark Conference with a 70-64 victory over Juniata College in conference action in Johnston Hall. Moravian jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a jumper by freshman guard/forward Emily Smith just 17 seconds into the game. The Greyhounds were up 6-2 after a lay-up by sophomore guard Kate Harrison before Juniata scored seven straight points to take a 9-6 lead with 15:54 to play in the first half. Moravian tied the game on a three-pointer by Smith only to see the Eagles take a four-point lead 13-9 on a pair of free throws by freshman forward Jen Hnatuck. The Greyhounds tied the contest again at 16-16 on a jumper by sophomore forward Kirsty Stearns with 10:47 remaining before the intermission only to see Juniata retake a four point lead on a Hnatuck lay-up at the 9:31 mark. The Eagles would retain the lead for the remainder of the first half with Moravian pulling within one point three times, the final time at 30-29 on a free throw by senior guard LaToya Blake with 3:19 to play. Juniata would have a pair of six point leads in the half before heading to the locker room with a 37-34 lead. The Eagles were 16 of 24 from the field, two of three on three-pointers and three of six at the foul line in the first 20 minutes of the game while Moravian was 11 of 35 (31.4 percent) from the field, two of eight behind the three-point line and ten of 14 at the foul line. Moravian had a 20-17 edge in rebounds in the first half while committing just eight turnovers and forcing Juniata into 13 miscues. Early in the second half, Juniata built another six-point lead, 42-36 on a three-pointer by senior guard Jill Walsh. The Greyhounds responded with a 12-0 run, capped off by a pair of free throws by sophomore guard Jessica Foran with 14:57 remaining in the game to give Moravian a 48-42 lead. The Greyhounds would maintain their advantage until the six minute mark when Juniata junior forward Kelly Ashcraft hit a jumper to give the Eagles a brief, 59-58 lead. Neither team scored for the next 2:11 before Moravian retook the lead on a three-pointer by sophomore guard Amanda Brown with 3:49 to play. Brown's three-pointer started an 8-0 run to give the Greyhounds a 66-59 lead with 2:05 remaining after a lay-up by sophomore forward Alyssa Bisci. Moravian, ranked in the top ten in the nation in free throw percentage, connected on four straight free throws in the final 32 seconds to ice the game. The Greyhounds were 12 of 29 from the field (41.4 percent), two for three on three-pointers and ten of 12 at the foul line in the final 20 minutes of the game. Juniata's shooting cooled in the second half as the Eagles were nine of 22 from the floor, four of ten on three-pointers and five of seven at the foul line. Juniata also had a 37-33 advantage in rebounds for the game, the 13th time in 20 games Moravian has been out-rebounded this season. However, the Eagles had 28 turnovers in the contest to just 13 for the Greyhounds. Moravian had three players in double figures led by Harrison and Stearns, who each scored 16 points. Harrison added a career high six assists and five rebounds while Stearns had three boards. Smith made her first career start and added ten points. Sophomore forward Lauren Fornazor and Brown each netted eight points for the Greyhounds with Fornazor grabbing six boards. Bisci had five points and five rebounds for Moravian while Foran contributed five points and three rebounds. Blake had five rebounds, three assists and three steals to go with two points. Hnatuck led Juniata with game highs of 17 points, 11 rebounds and six blocked shots while junior guard Claudia McDowell had 15 points and three assists for the Eagles. Walsh and senior guard Ali Meckey each netted seven points with Meckey dishing out four assists while junior guard Gina Piccolini and sophomore forward Kelly Rotan each had eight points. Ashcraft finished the game with eight rebounds for Juniata.

Moravian dropped its second straight Landmark Conference game and its first home game of the season, falling to Susquehanna University, 57-49, in Johnston Hall. The Crusaders jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Greyhounds scored on a free throw by senior guard LaToya Blake at the 17:26 mark. However, Susquehanna scored the next ten points to jump out to a 14-1 lead. Moravian's first field goal was scored by sophomore forward Alyssa Bisci with 13:11 remaining in the first half to cut the Susquehanna lead to 14-3. The Greyhounds would get within six points, 26-20, on a pair of Bisci free throws with 2:28 remaining before the intermission but the Crusaders would head to the locker room with a 32-20. Moravian struggled shooting the ball in the first half, making just four of 32 field goal attempts (12.5 percent), one of four three-pointers and 11 of 13 free throws. The Greyhounds had just three turnovers in the first 20 minutes while forcing Susquehanna into five turnovers. The Crusaders were 11 of 24 from the floor, one of five on three-pointers and nine of 14 at the foul line in the first half while holding a 24-22 edge in rebounds. Moravian would slowly cut into the lead in the second half, eventually pulling within two points, 47-45 with 3:46 remaining in the contest on a Blake free throw but Susquehanna finished the contest on a 10-4 run. The Greyhounds had their four-game Landmark Conference winning streak snapped in a 58-57 loss in the program's first-ever trip to the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The loss also dropped Moravian into a tie for second place in Landmark Conference action. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a jumper by sophomore guard Kate Harrison, and that would be Moravian's largest lead of the contest. The Greyhounds would hold a one-point lead at four other points in the first half, the final time at 14-13 with 10:46 before halftime on a jumper by sophomore forward Kirsty Stearns. The Mariners would retake the lead on a three-pointer by Kaitlin Mulgrew at the 10:24 mark. Moravian tied the contest for the third time at 16-16 on a Harrison jumper before USMMA's Brooke Picillo hit a jumper to give the Mariners the lead for the next 18 minutes. The Greyhounds trailed just 22-21 with 4:45 remaining in the first half after a pair of Stearns free throws, but USMMA put together a 10-1 run to push the lead to double digits at 32-22 with just 45 seconds remaining before the intermission. The Mariners had a 32-26 halftime lead after shooting 13 of 31 from the floor, two of seven behind the three-point line and a perfect four-for-four at the foul line in the first 20 minutes. The Rangers jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held several leads until the Greyhounds took a 10-8 lead at the 10:21 mark on a jumper by sophomore guard Amanda Brown. Drew would retake the lead and the contest was tied seven times before Moravian retook the lead, 24-22, on a lay-up by sophomore forward Alyssa Bisci with 1:11 remaining in the first half. Bisci's bucket would give the Greyhounds the lead for the remainder of the game. Moravian headed into the locker room with a 27-23 lead after shooting 11 of 35 from the floor (31.4 percent) and five of six at the foul line in the first 20 minutes of the game. The Greyhounds missed all five of its three-point attempts while holding an 18-16 edge in rebounds. Moravian committed just seven turnovers in the first half while Drew had nine turnovers. The victory was Moravian's third straight and seventh of the season at home. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 6-0 lead including a pair of baskets by sophomore guard Kate Harrison before the Gophers scored. Moravian's lead would quickly go to double-digits on a three-pointer by senior guard Megan Kocon for a 12-2 lead at the 16:10 mark. The Greyhounds' largest lead of the first half was 18 points, 28-10, with 6:58 remaining on a Harrison jumper. Moravian headed to the locker room with a 43-27 halftime lead. The Greyhounds had a hot hand in the first half, connecting on 16 of 29 field goal attempts (55.2 percent), both three-point attempts and nine of ten free throw attempts. Moravian also had a 21-11 advantage in rebounds while both teams had eight turnovers. The Greyhounds scored the first two points of the game on a pair of free throws by sophomore guard Jessica Foran just four seconds into the game before the Cardinals scored five straight for a 5-2 lead. Moravian would move ahead 6-5 on another pair of Foran free throws only to see Catholic retake the lead. The Greyhounds would push back in front on a Foran jumper for an 8-7 lead with 16:57 remaining in the first half, and Moravian would lead 10-7 before the Cardinals ran off six straight points, capped off by a pair of free throws by freshman guard/forward Jenn Canale for a 13-10 Catholic lead. The Cardinals pushed their lead to 17-12 at the 7:54 mark on a jumper by freshman guard/forward Brianna Peterson. The Greyhounds eventually pulled within a point at 20-19 on a three-pointer from sophomore guard Amanda Brown with 3:36 before the intermission. The Greyhounds snapped a two-game losing streak with an 83-74 victory over Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action. The host Crusaders jumped out to a 4-0 lead before a seven-point Moravian run capped off by a three-pointer by freshman guard/forward Emily Smith at the 15:21 mark for a 7-4 Greyhound lead. After Susquehanna scored five straight for a 9-7 lead, Smith hit a lay-up to tie the game again at 9-9 with 13:30 remaining in the first half. The contest was tied twice again at 11-11 and 13-13 before Moravian took the lead for good on a three-pointer by sophomore guard Amanda Brown at the 10:12 mark. Brown's three-pointer started a 10-0 Greyhound run to give Moravian a 23-13 lead with 8:21 before the intermission. The Greyhounds would hold a 14-point lead, 33-19, on a lay-up by sophomore forward Lauren Fornazor at 4:15 remaining in the first half before heading to the locker room with a 40-31 advantage. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 6-2 lead on a jumper by sophomore guard Amanda Brown with 17:26 on the clock. The Eagles would take the lead and go ahead by as many as 13 points, 26-13, with 3:14 remaining in the first half. Moravian captured the championship of the 7th Annual Starters Moravian Winter Classic with a 77-54 victory over Albright College in Johnston Hall. The win was the seventh straight for the Greyhounds, and their fourth title in the history of the tournament. The last time Moravian won seven straight games was the beginning of the 2005-06 season. Greyhound sophomore guard Kate Harrison was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player while sophomore forwards Alyssa Bisci and Kirsty Stearns of Moravian were named to the All-Tournament Team along with Jessica McGinness of Albright College, Vanessa Arthurton from SUNY Plattsburgh and Kim Vennera of Delaware Valley College. SUNY Plattsburgh defeated Delaware Valley, 69-66, in the consolation game. In the title contest, the Greyhounds jumped out to a 6-0 lead in just 1:25; however, Albright put together an 8-2 run to tie the contest at 8-8 with 14:55 left in the first half. The Lions would lead by three points twice, the final time at 13-10 to play in the first 20 minutes, and the contest was tied at 19-19 with 8:24 before halftime. Moravian would finish the first half on a 15-6 run to head to the locker room with a 34-25 lead. The Greyhounds were 12 of 32 (37.5 percent) from the floor in the first half, two of six behind three-point line and eight of 11 at the foul line, and Moravian had a 22-18 edge in rebounds. The Greyhounds won their sixth straight game and advanced to the championship game of the 7th Annual Starters Moravian Winter Classic with a 74-57 victory over SUNY Plattsburgh in a first round game in Johnston Hall. Moravian, which will be playing for the tournament title for the fifth time in six years (there was no championship game the first year due to travel issues with the visiting schools) will face Albright College, a 97-61 winner over Delaware Valley College in the other first round game. The Greyhounds are looking for their fourth tournament title. SUNY Plattsburgh jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first minute of the game and would lead 8-4 before Moravian tied the contest at 8-8 on a lay-up by sophomore guard Kate Harrison at the 14:50 mark. The Greyhounds would lead 10-8 before an 8-0 Cardinal run gave SUNY Plattsburgh a 16-10 lead remaining in the first half. The Cardinals held a seven-point advantage, 21-14, with 6:36 to play before a run by the Greyhounds put Moravian in the lead for good. Senior guard LaToya Blake helped fuel a 14-4 run with a three-pointer and a pair of free throws to give the Greyhounds a 26-25 lead. Moravian went to the locker room with a 32-27 advantage after another Blake jumper with 31 seconds remaining in the first half. Neither team shot the ball well in the first half with the Greyhounds connecting on 12 of 32 field goal attempts (37.5 percent), two of three three-pointers and six of seven free throws. Moravian extended its winning streak to five straight games with a 65-50 non-conference win over Wilkes University at Johnston Hall. The Greyhounds, who were playing for the first time in 24 days, showed signs of the layoff during the contest before finishing the game on a 16-1 run. Moravian jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead just 1:07 into the game including four points by sophomore guard Kate Harrison. The Greyhounds led 8-2 before the Colonels pulled within a point, 10-9, at the 12:02 mark of the first half. Each team struggled on offense before Moravian built a seven-point lead at 19-12 won a pair of free throws by sophomore guard Jessica Foran. The Colonels would score the final five points of the first half to pull within a point again at the intermission, 23-22. The Greyhounds were just nine of 34 (26.5 percent) from the floor, five of eight at the foul line and missed all three of their three-point attempts in the first half while Wilkes was nine for 28 from the field, three of eight on three-pointers and one of two at the foul line in the first 20 minutes. The Greyhounds earned a 95-90 double-overtime victory over rival Muhlenberg College in Johnston Hall to head to the semester break with a four-game winning streak. Moravian scored the first basket of the game on a lay-up by sophomore forward Alyssa Bisci. Then the Mules ran off seven straight points for a 7-2 lead, the first of eight five-point leads for Muhlenberg during the first half. The Mules led 23-18 on a lay-up by sophomore forward Alexis Bates with 8:23 remaining before halftime when the Greyhounds put together an 8-2 run capped by a jumper from sophomore guard Jessica Foran to take a 26-25 lead, Moravian's first since Bisci's opening basket. The Greyhounds finished the first half by extending the run to 24-11 for a 40-34 lead at the break. The Greyhounds won their inaugural Landmark Conference game with a 63-61 victory at The University of Scranton. The win was the second straight for Moravian, and the Greyhounds' first at Scranton since a 79-76 win in the Middle Atlantic Conference playoffs on February 24, 1998. The contest went back-and-forth early with neither team leading by more than two points until a three-point play by Greyhound sophomore forward Alyssa Bisci, who returned to the line-up after missing four games with an injury, to give Moravian a 13-10 lead with 9:57 remaining in the first half. The Royals, who received votes in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25 poll after being ranked last week and were 18th in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Poll, would pull within a point before the Greyhounds pushed the lead to six points at 22-16 on a jumper by Moravian sophomore guard Amanda Brown with 5:41 left until the intermission. Scranton fought back and pulled within two points on three occasions before the Greyhounds scored the final three points of the half to head to the locker room with a 35-30 lead. Moravian was just ten of 30 from the field (33.3 percent) and one of three behind the three-point line in the first half; however, the Greyhounds were 14 of 15 at the foul line to build their lead. The Royals connected on 12 of 35 field goal attempts and six of ten free throws while missing all four of their three-point attempts in the first 20 minutes. When the teams came back onto the floor for the second half, it took nearly three minutes for anyone to score. Sophomore forward Kirsty Stearns scored at the 17:16 mark to give Moravian its biggest lead of the game to that point, 37-30. The Greyhounds pushed the lead to eight points on three occasions, the final time at 44-36 on a pair of free throws by sophomore forward Lauren Fornazor with 14:50 remaining. Over the next two minutes, Scranton went on a 7-0 run to pull within a point at 44-43 with 12:37 left in the second half, and the Royals would eventually jump out to a three-point lead, 52-49, with just 7:07 to play. Moravian would respond with an 11-3 run to take a five-point lead at 60-55 on a pair of Bisci free throws with 1:06 left on the clock. Scranton would get back within a point at 62-61 with just five seconds remaining on a three-pointer by guard Ryan Mooney; however, Moravian sophomore guard Kate Harrison hit one of two free throws with three seconds left to seal the victory. The Greyhounds struggled shooting the ball in the second half, making just eight of 29 field goal attempts (27.6 percent) and two of eight three-pointers. The Greyhounds did continue to shoot the ball well from the foul line, making ten of 13 second half free throws including seven of eight in the final 1:30 of the contest. The Royals made 11 of 33 field goal attempts, three of 11 three-pointers and six of seven at the foul line in the final 20 minutes. Scranton also had a 50-42 advantage in rebounds while Moravian forced 21 turnovers while committing just 19. The Greyhounds had four players in double figures led by Bisci, who had a career high 15 points, a career best eight rebounds and two steals in her first action since the season opener on November 17th. Freshman guard/forward Emily Smith contributed 13 points and three steals while Brown tossed in 12 points. Forward Kathleen Daly led Scranton with a game high 20 points to go along with ten rebounds as the Royals dropped their conference season opener for the first time since the 1998-99 season and loss for the first time in 44 games against a conference opponent. Moravian snapped a two-game losing streak and won its 2007-08 home opener with a 76-61 non-conference victory over Elizabethtown College in Johnston Hall. The Greyhounds needed just seven seconds to take a lead with a basketball by sophomore forward Kirsty Stearns. However, the Blue Jays would eventually build a seven-point lead at 15-8 with 12:26 remaining in the first half. Moravian pulled within two points at 17-15 on a lay-up by sophomore guard Amanda Brown but Elizabethtown pulled away again, pushing the lead to 21-15. The Greyhounds eventually tied the game at 25-25 with 5:25 to play before the intermission, only to see the Blue Jays go ahead by seven points again, 36-29 with 1:58 until halftime. Moravian scored the final six points of the half to head to the locker room trailing by just a point, 36-35. The Greyhounds connected on 14 of 28 first half field goal attempts (50 percent), all three of their three-pointers and four of seven free throws while Elizabethtown made 16 of 40 field goal attempts, two of nine three-pointers and both of its free throws. The Greyhounds earned their first win of the season, defeating Smith College, 56-41, in the Consolation game of the 24th Annual Emmanuel College Tip-Off Tournament in Boston. The teams were tied at 6-6 with just over 14 minutes remaining in the first half when Moravian went 7-0 run to take control of the game and a 13-6 lead with 10:26 left before halftime. The Greyhounds would go to the locker room with a 22-14 lead after leading by as many as ten points during the half. Moravian connected on ten of 37 field goal attempts (27.0 percent), one of seven three-pointers and one of two free throws while the Pioneers made seven of 21 field goal attempts and missed all four of its free throw attempts in the first 20 minutes. The Greyhounds would maintain a double-digit lead for most of the season half, pushing the lead to as much as 21 points at 56-35 with 1:13 remaining in the game. Moravian opened the 2007-08 season with a 74-69 loss to Colby-Sawyer College in the first game of the 24th Annual Emmanuel College Tip-Off Tournament in Boston. Moravian will play Smith College, which lost to the host Saints, 79-41, in the consolation game. The Greyhounds fell behind 14-4 just over five minutes into the game before rallying to tie the contest at 17-17 with 8:03 remaining in the first half. Moravian went on to take a 22-17 lead with 5:25 left before halftime; however, Charger Kali Coleman hit a three-pointer just ten seconds before the half to send the two teams to the locker room tied at 31-31. Moravian was ten of 32 from the floor (31.3 percent) in the first 20 minutes, two of seven behind the three-point line and nine of ten at the foul line while Colby-Sawyer made 12 of 25 field goal attempts, five of nine three-pointers and two of three free throws in the first half. The Chargers ran out to an early four-point lead in the second half but Moravian responded to go up 38-37.
