At Messiah College – Lost 67-54

Freshman center Kelly McLean scored 15 points and added six rebounds and three steals as the Lady Greyhounds closed out the 1999-2000 season with a 67-54 loss at Messiah College in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. Freshman guard Tara Wozniak added 13 points with seven rebounds and three three-pointers while senior guard Jen Polaha tallied ten points and three assists in her final collegiate game. Sophomore forward Mary Morgans had a team high nine rebounds in the game and she also scored nine points.

Vs. Elizabethtown College – Lost 76-57

Moravian lost to Elizabethtown College, 76-57 in MAC Commonwealth Conference action and it was also the final home game of the season for the Lady Greyhounds. Freshman center Kelly McLean (Allentown/Salisbury HS) had her fourth career double-double to lead Moravian with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Senior forward LaJona Johnson scored 15 points in here final game in Johnston Hall while freshman guard Tara Wozniak had ten points with three three-pointers. Johnson had five rebounds as did sophomore forward Mary Morgans. Senior guard Jen Polaha had three rebounds, two assists and two steals in her final home game while senior guard Erin Kennedy added three points.

Vs. Lebanon Valley College – Lost 72-62

Freshman guard Tara Wozniak scored a career high 20 points in a 72-62 loss to Lebanon Valley in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. Wozniak connected on four three-pointers in the second half, which helped Moravian come back from a 19-point halftime deficit to trail by only seven points several times in the second half. Freshman center Kelly McLean added 16 points and four rebounds while sophomore forward Mary Morgans had eight rebounds and seven points. Senior guard Jen Polaha led the team with seven assists while junior forward Becky Roe had a career high six rebounds.

At Franklin & Marshall College – Won 69-55

Sophomore forward Mary Morgans scored 12 of her game and career-high 15 points in the first half and added 11 rebounds to lead the Lady Greyhounds to a 69-55 non-conference victory over Franklin & Marshall College. Freshman forward Kelly McLean and freshman guard Tara Wozniak each added 12 points for Moravian, which snapped an 11-game losing streak. McLean also added a game and career-high 17 rebounds for the Lady Greyhounds, who outrebounded the host Diplomats by a 51-39 margin.

At Albright College – Lost 67-63

Moravian let a 35-29 halftime lead slip away in a 67-63 loss to Albright College in a MAC Commonwealth Conference contest. Freshman guard Tara Wozniak tied her career high with 19 points in the game as she was one of four Lady Greyhounds to score in double figures in the game. Freshman center Kelly McLean had 14 points, four rebounds and two blocked shots while senior forward LaJona Johnson had ten points and a team high nine rebounds. Sophomore forward Mary Morgans also scored ten points and pulled down eight rebounds. Senior guard Jen Polaha had five assists in the game.

Vs. Wilkes University – Lost 65-57

Freshman forward Kelly McLean and freshman guard Tara Wozniak each scored 16 points against Wilkes University, but the Lady Greyhounds couldn’t recover from a 16-0 deficit in the games first six and a half minutes in a 65-57 Middle Atlantic Conference non-league game. McLean also had seven rebounds while sophomore forward Mary Morgans tied her career best with 12 rebounds. Morgans also scored six points. Senior forward LaJona Johnson had eight points and five rebounds while senior guard Jen Polaha had four points and four assists.

At Susquehanna University – Lost 66-59

Freshman forward Kelly McLean tied her career high with 22 points but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Greyhounds couldn’t hold off a late charge in a 66-59 loss to Susquehanna University in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. Moravian led at halftime and through the first ten minutes of the second half with a lead as large as ten points but the Crusaders responded for the win. Senior forward LaJona Johnson added 16 points and had five rebounds as did McLean. Sophomore forward Mary Morgans led Moravian with nine rebounds while freshman guard Tara Wozniak added nine points.

At Juniata College – Lost 81-59

Senior forward LaJona Johnson scored 22 points and added a career best six steals but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Greyhounds fell to Juniata College, 81-59, in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. Freshman center Kelly McLean had 12 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore forward Mary Morgans gabbed nine rebounds while sophomore forward Jackie Boutin had six rebounds. Junior forward Becky Roe had six rebounds.

At Drew University – Lost 73-56

Freshman guard Tara Wozniak was one point shy of her career high with 18 points in a 73-56 loss to Drew University in Middle Atlantic Conference non-league action. Freshman Jennifer Tannous added ten points and five rebounds. Sophomore forward Mary Morgans grabbed a team leading seven rebounds while sophomore forward Jackie Boutin pulled down a career best six boards.

Vs. Widener University – Lost 80-70

Senior forward LaJona Johnson netted a career high 24 points but the Lady Greyhounds lost a 12-point second half lead in a 80-70 loss to Widener University in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. Johnson also had five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Freshman forward Kelly McLean had 12 points and eight rebounds while freshman guard Tara Wozniak had ten points and seven rebounds. Senior guard Jen Polaha had eight points, six assists and four rebounds while sophomore forward Jackie Boutin added six rebounds.

The women’s basketball game against Widener University has been postponed until January 26th at 6:00 p.m.

Vs. Messiah College – Lost 69-53

Senior guard Jen Polaha netted 15 points and added five rebounds, four assists and four steals but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Greyhounds fell to Messiah College, 69-53, in a MAC Commonwealth Conference contest. Senior forward LaJona Johnson added ten points and six rebounds while freshman forward Kelly McLean had seven rebounds and four rebounds.

At Elizabethtown College – Lost 60-51

The Lady Greyhounds nearly pulled off the upset, leading powerhouse Elizabethtown College, 40-39 with 9:22 to play in the second half and trailing just 53-51 with a minute remaining, but Moravian ended up losing to the Blue Jays, 60-51 in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. Freshman guard Tara Wozniak led Moravian with 17 points while senior forward LaJona Johnson had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman forward Kelly McLean added eight points and eight rebounds while senior guard Jen Polaha had eight assists.

At Holy Family College – Lost 91-49

Freshman guard Tara Wozniak scored 12 points and freshman forward Kelly McLean netted 11 points and had a team high nine rebounds as the Lady Greyhounds lost to NAIA powerhouse Holy Family College, 91-49.

At Lebanon Valley College – Lost 83-58

Freshman forward Kelly McLean scored a career high 22 points but the Lady Greyhounds fell to Lebanon Valley College, 83-58, in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. McLean also had a team high seven rebounds while senior forward LaJona Johnson had six rebounds and eight points. Freshman guard Jennifer Tannous had seven points in the contest. McLean was 12 of 15 from the foul line in the game.

Vs. Albright College – Lost 64-60

The Lady Greyhounds held a 57-45 lead with 7:31 to play in the game but the squad scored just three points the rest of the game in a 64-60 loss to Albright College in MAC Commonwealth action. Senior forward LaJona Johnson led Moravian with 15 points and she added eight rebounds. Freshman forward Kelly McLean had the third double-double of her career with a season best 14 rebounds and 10 points. Sophomore forward Mary Morgans added seven rebounds while freshman guard Jennifer Tannous had seven points for Moravian.

Vs. Muhlenberg College – Won 60-59

The Lady Greyhounds won their second straight game of the new year, defeating rival Muhlenberg College, 60-59 on a three-pointer by junior guard Jill Kenny with just six seconds left in the game. Moravian had trailed by 11 points at several points of the second half. Kenny was an unlikely hero in the victory, coming into the game just 1 of 24 on career three-pointers. Kenny canned her second trey of the game with six seconds left to cap and 11-point come-from-behind victory for the Lady Greyhounds. Kenny finished the game with a career high 12 points and four assists. Freshman guard Tara Wozniak led Moravian with 17 points and five assists while freshman forward Kelly McLean had 11 points and four rebounds. Sophomore forward Mary Morgans had six rebounds and four steals in the game to lead the Lady Greyhounds. Freshman guard Jennifer Tannous added nine points.

Vs. Dickinson College – Won 74-36

The Lady Greyhounds snapped a six-game losing streak in the squad’s first game in the new year by defeating Dickinson College, 74-36. Freshman forward Kelly McLean contributed a team high 16 points and she also led the squad with six rebounds and a career high five blocked shots. Senior forward LaJona Johnson added 15 points and three rebounds while junior guard Jan Golden (Dunmore/Dunmore HS) had 10 points in 13 minutes of action including a three-pointer at the end of the first half to give the Lady Greyhounds a 46-24 lead. Senior guard Jen Polaha had eight points in the game while freshman guard Tara Wozniak had seven points and four rebounds. Junior guard Jill Kenny had just two points in the contest but added five assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Vs. Marymount University (VA) – Lost 75-62

Freshman forward Kelly McLean tied her career highs for points and rebounds with the second double-double of her career by the Lady Greyhounds fell to Marymount University (VA), 75-62, in the final game of the 1999 portion of the team’s schedule. McLean netted 19 points and added 12 rebounds in the game. Sophomore forward Mary Morgans scored a career high 14 points in the loss and added six rebounds while freshman guard Jennifer Tannous had ten points and four rebounds. Senior LaJona Johnson netted nine points in the game, all of them in the first half of the contest, while senior guard Jen Polaha led Moravian with seven assists. Junior guard Jill Kenny had five assists in the game and Roe added five rebounds.

Vs. Susquehanna University – Lost 78-68

Senior forward LaJona Johnson scored 16 points and freshman guard Tara Wozniak had the first double-double of her career with 13 points and 12 rebounds but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Greyhounds fell to Susquehanna University, 78-68, in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. Freshman forward Kelly McLean had 15 points and six rebounds. Senior guard Jen Polaha netted 12 points and dished out a career high nine assists in the game. Johnson added six rebounds in the game while Wozniak had three blocked shots and junior forward Becky Roe had five blocks.

Vs. Juniata College – Lost 59-50

Sophomore forward Mary Morgans scored a career high 13 points and grabbed a team leading eight rebounds but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Greyhounds lost to Juniata College, 59-50 in a MAC Commonwealth Conference game. Morgans also had four steals in the contest. Freshman forward Kelly McLean added ten points, five rebounds and two blocked shots while senior forward LaJona Johnson had nine points and six rebounds.

At Widener University – Lost 85-66

Senior forward LaJona Johnson scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds and senior guard Jen Polaha added 12 points for the Lady Greyhounds but it wasn’t enough as Moravian fell to Widener University, 85-66, in the first MAC Commonwealth Conference game of the season for both schools. Freshman forward Kelly McLean added eight points and seven rebounds and freshman guard Tara Wozniak had eight points. Sophomore guard Stevie Ochse scored five points and also grabbed five rebounds.

At Allentown College – Lost 76-66

The ‘Hounds suffered a 76-66 loss to Allentown College. Freshman forward Ken Greb (led Moravian with 15 points and seven rebounds. Junior guard/forward David Jordan scored 13 points while senior guard Rich Whalen and sophomore Doug Spadt each scored 12 points in the loss. Whalen added four assists while Spadt had four rebounds as did senior center Jim O’Rourke. O’Rourke scored six points before fouling out of the contest. Freshman Kevin Hall added four points and two rebounds off the bench for Moravian.

At Muhlenberg College in Scotty Wood Tournament – Lost 66-57

Moravian fell in the championship game of the Scotty Wood Tournament at Muhlenberg College to the host Mules, 66-57. The Lady Greyhounds trailed just 23-19 at halftime but couldn’t get anything going in the second half to loss 66-57. Moravian shot just 30.2 percent from the floor in the game and had a free throw and six three-pointers at the half and no two-point field goals. Freshman guard Tara Wozniak, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, led the way for Moravian with 19 points, including a 10-for-12 performance at the foul line, and six rebounds. Junior guard Jan Golden added 14 points in the game and connected on three three-pointers. Senior forward LaJona Johnson added eight points, four rebounds and two blocked shots while sophomore forward Mary Morgans had seven points and three boards. Senior guard Jen Polaha, who was Moravian’s other representative on the All-Tournament Team, had three points and three rebounds.

Vs. SUNY Oswego at Scotty Wood Tournament – Won 69-49

Moravian opened the 1999-2000 season with a 69-49 victory over SUNY Oswego in the first round of the Scotty Wood Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College. Senior guard Jen Polaha scored a career high 17 points and added four assists and two rebounds. Polaha was one of four Moravian players to reach double figures in the game. Senior forward LaJona Johnson, who returned to the team last Monday, added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Tara Wozniak added 11 points, three rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots in her first collegiate game while freshman forward Kelly McLean had ten points and seven rebounds for the Lady Greyhounds. Sophomore forward Mary Morgans had a team high 12 rebounds and added six points while junior guard Jill Kenny had four assists and three points. Moravian led the game, 27-24, at halftime and put the contest away in the second half by outscoring SUNY Oswego, 42-25.
