The 2008 Moravian College women’s cross country team, under the direction of third year coach Welles Lobb, had a successful season. Moravian placed fifth at the 2008 Landmark Conference Championships and 26th in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional run at Waynesburg College.
Leading the Greyhounds this season was freshman Haley Neff (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton HS), who recorded her best time of the year at the 35th Annual Brooks Paul Short Run with a time of 23:49 in the 6,000 meter run where she placed 68th out of 260 runners. Neff was also named Landmark All Conference First Team and placed 6th in the Landmark Conference Championships. Senior Kelly Williams (Tafton, PA/Wallenpaupack HS), pictured at right, placed 11th in the Landmark Conference Championship and earned a place on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team.
Freshman Kristina Ruggiero (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove HS) ran her personal best of 24:25 at the Lehigh Valley Championship were she placed 32nd out of 60 runners. Ruggiero also earned Landmark All-Conference Second team accolade placing 12th in the Landmark Conference Championship. Fellow freshman Cadee Rockwell (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson West Lawn HS) ran her best time of 24:23 at the 35th Annual Brooks Paul Short Run where she placed 105th and placed 42nd in the Landmark Conference Championships.
Freshman Megan Hallowell (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) placed 29th in the Landmark Conference Championship with a time of 26:22 while senior Naomie Kachel (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin HS) was 32nd at the conference championship meet in a time of 26:57, her best time of the year at 6,000-meters. Freshman Katie Engwall (Columbia, NJ/North Warren HS) finished 45th in the conference meet in 28:11 while posting a season best time of 26:00 at the Paul Brooks Run at Lehigh. Sophomore Kaleen Holden (Scranton, PA/Bishop Hannan HS) was 47th in the Landmark Conference Championships while senior Stephanie Miller (Easton, PA/Easton HS) placed 66th and freshman Katie Pritchett (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville HS) finished 75th.
Williams, Miller, Holden and sophomore Tara Chiarella (Halstead, Montrose Area HS), who was injured most of the season, each earned spots on the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.
