Vs. Messiah College – Lost 2-1 -- Commonwealth Conference Semifinals

Senior forward Becky Matijasich scored off a pass from sophomore midfielder Erin Glynn in the 16th minute to give the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead but Moravian couldn't hold on to beat Commonwealth Conference powerhouse Messiah College for the second time in five days, falling 2-1 in the Commonwealth Conference Semifinals. Messiah will play Elizabethtown College, a 2-0 winner of Lebanon Valley College for the Commonwealth Conference Championship.Senior goal Becky Roe made two saves in her final match as the Greyhounds held an 11-7 advantage in shots.

At Messiah College – Won 1-0

Sophomore midfielder Erin Glynn scored a first half goal 25th minute off a pass from senior forward Becky Matijasich and senior goalie Becky Roe posted a shutout with eight saves as the Greyhounds defeated Messiah College, 1-0, to force a three-way tie for the 2000 Commonwealth Conference Championship. Moravian will be the second seed in the playoffs and host Messiah College on Wednesday, October 25th at 3:00 p.m.The win was the 15th of the season for Moravian, setting a new school record.

Vs. Drew University – Won 2-1 in double overtime

Junior midfielder Stevie Ochse scored off a pass freshman defender Jackie Buschta in the 112th minute to give the Moravian College women’s soccer team its school record tying 14th win with a 2-1, double overtime victory over Drew University in Middle Atlantic Conference action.The Greyhounds had taken a 1-0 in the eighth minute of the match when senior forward Lindsey Forman scored off a crossing pass from fellow senior forward Becky Matijasich.Moravian senior goalie Becky Roe made 11 saves in the victory.

Vs. Wilkes University – Won 4-0

Sophomore midfielder Erin Glynn scored a pair of first half goals and senior midfielder Marisa Confuorto had two assists to extend her single season school record to 11 as the Moravian College women’s soccer team shutout Wilkes University, 4-0, in a Middle Atlantic Conference match.Moravian opened the scoring on an unassisted goal by junior midfielder Stevie Ochse in the 24th minute.Glynn tallied her first goal in the 28th minute off a pass from senior forward Lindsey Forman.Glynn would finish the Greyhounds scoring in the first half when she headed home a Confuorto corner kick in the 32nd minute. Senior forward Becky Matijasich scored the Greyhounds final goal in the 56th minute off a corner kick from Confuorto and a head pass from Ochse.Moravian senior goalie Becky Roe made five saves for her second shutout of the season and the 15th of her career.

Vs. Juniata College – Won 9-0

Freshman midfielder Justina Bria and freshman forward Rori Franges each tallied two goals to lift the Greyhounds to a 9-0 victory over Juniata College in Commonwealth Conference action.The win clinches Moravian its first-ever playoff appearance and improves the team's record to 13-3.Senior forward Lindsay Forman, sophomore midfielder Erin Glynn, sophomore midfielder Alex Camarano, freshman midfielder Erica Napoli and freshman defender Jackie Buschta also scored goals in the match.Glynn, senior midfielder Marisa Confuorto and freshman midfielder Faye Zaninelli each had assists in the contest.Sophomore goalie Neali Miller had four saves in one half while freshman Kelly Wakeman had one save in 20 minutes of the second half. Sophomore goalie Whitney Cantrell played 25 minutes.

At Delaware Valley College – Won 3-1

Sophomore midfielder Erin Glynn scored in the 71st minute off a pass from freshman defender Jackie Buschta to give Moravian a 2-1 lead in a 3-1 victory over Delaware Valley College in Middle Atlantic Conference action. Senior midfielder Marisa Confuorto had tied the match with six and a half minutes left in the first half off an assist from junior forward Stevie Ochse.Senior forward Becky Matijasich tallied Moravian's final goal with just 38 seconds left in the match. Greyhound senior goalie Becky Roe made three saves in the victory.

Vs. Albright College – Won 8-0

Freshman defender Jackie Buschta had two goals and an assist and senior midfielder Marisa Confuorto added three assists to set the single season school record with eight as the Moravian College women’s soccer team defeated Albright College, 8-0, in Commonwealth Conference action.The Greyhounds scored six first half goals with the first two coming off the foot of senior forward Lindsay Forman.Freshman midfielder Rachel Davy and freshman midfielder Justina Bria each had assists on Forman’s goals.Sophomore Erin Glynn made the score 3-0 on Confuorto’s first assist of the match.Buschta would score the next goal off a Confuorto assist before sophomore Kara Miller made the score 5-0 off a pass from freshman midfielder Erica Napoli.Sophomore Alex Camarano scored the final goal off a corner kick by Confuorto and a head pass from Buschta. Moravian would add a pair of second half goals, an unassisted tally by Napoli and Buschta’s second goal off an assist from junior forward Stevie Ochse.The Greyhounds used a trio of goalies in the match with sophomore Neali Miller playing the first half and freshman Kelly Wakeman and sophomore Whitney Cantrell splitting the second half.Cantrell made two saves.

At University of Scranton – Lost 2-1

Senior forward Becky Matijasich scored the first goal of the match but the University of Scranton rebounded for two goals and a 2-1 victory in the Middle Atlantic Conference match.The contest also matched two of the top ten teams in the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Region with Scranton ranked ninth and the Greyhounds in tenth. Senior goalie Becky Roe made six saves in the loss.

At Susquehanna University – Won 3-1

Senior forward Lindsey Forman scored a goal in the 62nd minute off a pass from junior defender Becky Caulwell to give Moravian a 2-1 lead in route to a 3-1 victory over Susquehanna University in Commonwealth Conference action. Moravian would tie the match in the 35th minute on a goal by senior forward Becky Matijasich. Forman’s goal put Moravian ahead for good and junior midfielder Stevie Ochse sealed the match with an unassisted goal in the 84th minute. Moravian used two goalies in the game with sophomore Neali Miller playing the first half with two saves and senior Becky Roe making one save in the second half.

Vs. Centenary College – Cancelled

The Greyhounds match with Centenary College has been ruled no contest since Centenary did not make the trip to Bethlehem.

At Muhlenberg College – Won 1-0

Freshman defender Jackie Buschta headed home an indirect kick from senior forward Lindsey Forman in the 76th minute to lead Moravian to a 1-0 victory over rival Muhlenberg College.Buschta’s goal was her team leading sixth of the season and helped the Greyhounds improve to 8-2 overall and rebound from a 3-2 loss to Elizabethtown College.Moravian now leads the all-time series with the Mules 4-3 and all four Greyhound victories have been by the final score of 1-0 including the past two seasons.Moravian senior goalie Becky Roe made nine saves in the victory. The shutout was the first solo one for Roe this season and the 14th of her career.

Vs. Elizabethtown College – Lost 3-2

Elizabethtown College’s junior forward Nicole Hundley scored in the 79th minute to lift the Blue Jays to a 3-2 victory over Moravian in Commonwealth Conference action.The Greyhounds, who had a seven-match winning streak snapped with the loss, jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half before surrendering three goals. Junior midfielder Stevie Ochse scored in the 28th minute off a pass from freshman midfielder Justina Bria. Moravian made in 2-0 on a goal by freshman defender Jackie Buschta in the 36th minute assisted by Bria.The Blue Jays cut the lead to 2-1 with just 11 seconds remaining in the first half on a goal by junior Dina Jingoli. Senior Andrea Thompson scored the equalizer in the 51st minute to tied the score and set up Hundley’s game winning goal. Jingoli had the assist on Hundley’s winner. Moravian goalie, sophomore Neali Miller had 17 saves in the match while Elizabethtown’s senior Lisa Blanker has nine stops.

At Lycoming College – Won 5-2

The Greyhounds won their seventh straight match with a 5-2 victory over Lycoming College in Middle Atlantic Conference action.Senior forward Becky Matijasich scored a pair of goals in the win while junior midfielder Stevie Ochse added a goal and an assist.Other goal scorers for the Greyhounds were freshmen midfielder Faye Zaninelli and Justina Bria.Freshman defender Heather Bichler had an assist in the match while senior goalie Becky Roe made four saves in the win.

At Muhlenberg College – Postponed to Sept. 24th

The Moravian at Muhlenberg College soccer match was postponed due to heavy rain in the Lehigh Valley. It has been rescheduled for Sunday, September 24th at 1:00 p.m.

Vs. Haverford College – Won 5-0

Freshman midfielder Jackie Buschta had a pair of goals and sophomore goalie Neali Miller had six saves for her third straight shutout to lead the Greyhounds to a 5-0 non-conference win over Haverford College.Buschta gave the Greyhounds a 2-0 lead in the 29th minute and scored the final goal of the match in the 71st minute. Senior forward Becky Matijasich had a goal in the 47th minute and assisted on a goal by senior forward Lindsey Forman in the 56th minute. Junior midfielder Stevie Ochse had the Greyhounds first goal in the 14th minute.

At Lebanon Valley College – Won 5-2

Junior midfielder Stevie Ochse and sophomore midfielder Erin Glynn each scored a goal and added an assist as Moravian built a 3-0 halftime lead in a 4-2 win over Lebanon Valley College in Commonwealth Conference action.The Greyhounds are now 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Commonwealth Conference after the team’s fifth straight win.Senior forward Becky Matijasich got Moravian on the board in the 20th minute off an assist from Ochse. Glynn scored in the 27th minute of a pass from senior midfielder Marisa Confuorto before Ochse scored in the 33rd minute off a pass from Glynn.Moravian freshman Rachel Davy added an insurance goal in the 71st minute with an assist from freshman Erica Napoli.Moravian senior goalie Becky Roe had eight saves.

At Widener University – Won 3-0

Sophomore goalie Neali Miller made three saves for her second shutout of the season as Moravian earned a 3-0 victory over Widener University in the Commonwealth Conference opener for both schools.The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute on a goal by freshman defender Jackie Buschta off a corner kick by senior midfielder Marisa Confuorto. Moravian scored twice in the second half on goals by senior Lindsey Forman and freshman forward Rori Franges. Freshmen midfielders Faye Zaninelli and Justina Bria each had assists in the second half.

At Beaver College in Beaver College Tournament – Won 2-1 (2 overtimes)

Senior midfielder Marisa Confuorto scored an unassisted goal 22 second into the second overtime to lift the Moravian College women’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Beaver College in the Championship match of the Beaver College Tournament. Sophomore Erin Glynn scored with 2:15 left in regulation to tie the match for the Greyhounds (3-1) and to send it to overtime. Moravian keeper, senior Becky Roe picked up her second win of the season in the match.Moravian out shot Beaver 32-7 in the match.

Vs. Catholic University in Beaver College Tournament – Won 1-0

Freshman midfielder Jackie Buschta scored the only goal of the match in the 78th minute to lift the Moravian College women’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Catholic University in the Beaver College Tournament.Buschta’s goal came off a pass from senior midfielder Marisa Confuorto. Sophomore goalie Neali Miller made two saves for her first shutout of the season and the second of the year for the Greyhounds. Moravian out shot Catholic 38-4 in the match.

Vs. Alvernia College – Won 4-0

Senior forward Lindsay Forman scored a pair of first half goals and added an assist to lead Moravian to a 4-0 victory over Alvernia.Forman gave Moravian all the scoring it would need just 1:10 into the match as she tapped home a rebound of a shot by junior Stevie Ochse. Forman’s second goal was in the 22nd minute as she put home a touch pass from Ochse on a centering pass from senior Becky Matijasich.Matijasich would score a goal in the 29th minute off a pass from senior Marisa Confuorto. Freshman Justina Bria finished off the scoring just 31 seconds into the second half off a cross from Forman. Senior goalie Becky Roe played 65 minutes and made one save for the Greyhounds while freshman Kelly Wakeman played the final 25 minutes of the match and did not make a save as the Greyhounds out shot the Crusaders, 30-1.

At William Paterson (NJ) University – Lost 3-0

The Greyhounds opened the 2000 season with a 3-0 loss at William Paterson University in New Jersey. Moravian was out shot 23-6 in the contest. Sophomore goalie Neali Miller made ten saves for the Greyhounds.
