2002 Review

The 2002 Moravian Women’s Soccer Team had its chance for the third straight year to appear in the Commonwealth Conference Playoffs. However, the team dropped its final regular season contest to Widener University, 3-1 and posted a 10-6-2 overall record. Fourth-year head coach Eric Lambinus had four players earn Commonwealth All-Star honors.

Leading the Greyhounds was junior Jackie Buschta (Whitehall, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS), who missed last season due to a knee injury, led the team with 8 goals, 4 points, and 20 total points. She was named to the 2002 Commonwealth All-Conference First Team after being on the All-Conference First Team and the Commonwealth Rookie of the Year in 2002. Buschta had three game-winning goals this season and heads into her senior season tied for fifth in school history in scoring with 41 points.

Classmates Justina Bria (Warminster, PA/William Tennent HS) and Heather Bichler (Waverly, PA/Abington Heights HS) and freshman Megan Collins (Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney HS) were honored with All-Conference Second Team accolades. Bria contributed six points on two goals and two assists, while Bichler scored a goal and three assists for five points. Collins, in her debut season had four goals and three assists for 11 total points.

Freshman Lindsay Pohl (West Lawn, PA/Wilson West Lawn HS) tallied 13 points with five goals and three assists. Junior Faye Zaninelli (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant HS) added four goals, while classmate Erica Napoli (Wyomissing, PA/Wilson West Lawn HS) contributed two goals. Freshman Edna Snyder (Naples, FL/Gulf Coast HS) had one goal and two assists for four points. Freshman Jessica Cordani (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro HS) added one goal and one assist for three points. Juniors Rori Franges (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley HS) and Rachel Davy (Oaklyn, NJ/Haddon Township HS) contributed one goal and one assist each for a total of three points.

Senior Kara Miller (Myerstown, PA/ELCO HS) had one goal and freshman Kindal Estes (New Providence, NJ/New Providence) had two assists. Junior Michelle Gorman (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy HS) and sophomore Kelly Haymaker (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley HS) each added one assist. Also contributing were senior Allison Kranchalk (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro HS), junior Lauren Roller (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East HS), sophomore Brianne DeVries (Stockton, NJ/Delaware Valley HS), and freshman Meghan Boccard (Huntington, NY/Huntington HS) and Greer Hockenmeier (Skillman, NJ/Montgomery HS).

In goal, Moravian used three different players led by junior Jill Vaccaro (South Salem, NY/John Jay HS), who played 1,375 minutes with a 1.18 GAA, 82 saves, a 8-6-1 record and 6 shutouts. Senior Neali Miller (Wyomissing, PA/Wilson West Lawn HS) played 225 minutes with a 0.40 GAA, 5 saves, and a 2-0-1 record. Sophomore Kelly Wakeman (Easton, PA/Home schooled) saw 65 minutes in goal.
