The
2005 Moravian College women’s soccer team had its best season in
school history, posting a record of 16-6-1 with a 5-1-1 record in the
Commonwealth Conference. The Greyhounds earned their first-ever NCAA Division
III tournament berth. The ladies went and played at Dickinson College
for the first two rounds. They defeated Washington & Lee University,
2-1. in a double overtime game. They went on to play Dickinson College
in the second round, and lost 0-1. This was the first time in history
that the women’s soccer team has made it to the NCAA tournament,
and won a first round game. The team also played in the conference championship
match for the first time in school history, falling to eventual national
champion Messiah College.
Head coach Eric Lambinus finished his seventh year
coaching the women with four student-athletes named to Commonwealth All-Conference.
Senior forward Megan Collins (Rehoboth Beach, DE/Caesar Rodney
HS), and freshman midfielder Tracy Fitzpatrick (Wantage,
NJ/High Point Regional HS) were named to the Commonwealth All-Conference
First Team while senior defender Erin Gonda (Bethlehem, PA/Salisbury
HS), and freshman goalie Caitlin Corrigan (Perkasie,
PA/Pennridge HS) each earned spots on the Commonwealth All-Conference
Second Team.
Collins also earned Player of the year in the Commonwealth
Conference and was also named to the 2005 adidas/National Soccer Coaches
Association of America All-America Second Team, the Greyhound women’s
first national All-American. Collins and Fitzpatrick
also earned spots on the adidas/NSCAA All-East Region First Team.
Collins led the team in scoring with 16 goals and six
assists for 38 points. She finished her career second all-time at Moravian
in goals with 41 and points with 98. Fitzpatrick added
eight goals and eight assists for 24 points. Junior forward Kristina
Adams (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery HS) contributed three goals
and five assist for 11 points while junior midfielder Alisha Davy
(Oaklyn, NJ/Haddon Township HS) added two goals and five assists
for nine points. Gonda, who was also named to ESPN
The Magazine Academic All-AMerican Second Team Colleg Division and
All-District First Team, had three goals and one assist for seven points
this season.
Freshman defender Alexandra Frascella (Chatham, NJ/Chatham HS)
contributed three goals for six points. Senior forward Lindsay
Pohl (West Lawn, PA/Wilson West Lawn HS), sophomore midfielder
Allison Solomita (Chatham, NJ/Chatham HS), and freshman
midfielder Katelyn Killea (Chatham, NJ/Chatham HS) each
had one goal and one assist for three points this fall. Senior midfielder
Jessica Cordani (Point Pleasant Beach, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro
HS) contributed one goal this season for two points while sophomores
midfielder Jill Newswanger (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove HS) and
forward Casey Simpson (Laporte, PA/ Sullivan Country HS)
each added one assist for one point.
Also contributing for the Greyhounds were senior Kindal Estes
(New Providence, NJ/New Providence HS), juniors Lindsey
Lustrino (Spring Lake, NJ/Manasquan HS) and Tiffany Bianco
(Fairfield, NJ/West Essex Regional HS), sophomores Robyn
Klem (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS), Amanda
Detwiler (Macungie, PA/Upper Perkiomen HS), Kellie Barnes
(Newton Square, PA/Marple Newton HS), and Dana DeAngelis
(West Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell HS), and freshman Rachel
Feinstein (North Salem, NY/Wooster School{MA}), Laura
Boyd (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley HS), and Katrina Young
(Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg HS).
Corrigan led the Hounds in the goal this season. She
played 2026:38 minutes with a .75 GAA, 71 saves, a 15-5-1 record and 10
shutouts. Sophomore Kelly Wight (Port Murray, NJ/West Morris Central
HS) made eight saves for the Greyhounds in her 95:45 minutes
in goal this season. She had a 1-0 record which was a shutout.
Moravian had four student-athletes named to the 2005 Middle Atlantic
States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Fall Academic Honor Roll including
Davy, Gonda, Newswanger
and Wight.
