With
the scoring of senior Carli Miller (Wyomissing/Wilson West Lawn HS),
the all-time leading scorer in Moravian College soccer history, male
or female, new head coach Eric Lambinus was able to lead the Lady
Greyhounds to a 12-5 record and a third place finish at 5-3 in the MAC
Commonwealth Conference in his first season.
The winning season helped the Lady Greyhounds rebound from an 8-10 record
in 1998, the only losing season since Moravian began womens soccer
in 1994. Moravian has a record of 61-32-3 in six varsity seasons.
Miller, who became the first player in school history to score 100 points
in a career, led Moravian with 15 goals and added five assists for 35
points. Miller completed her career with a total of 142 points on 59
goals and 24 assists. She netted six game-winning goals in 1999 and had
a pair of hat tricks, one against Alvernia College, an 8-0 win, and the
other versus Juniata College, a 4-0 victory.
Miller was honored on the MAC Commonwealth All-Star First Team this
fall, the third time in her career she was a MAC All-Star. Miller also
earned a spot on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Adidas
Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team. Miller made the NSCAA All-Star team
during each of her four seasons at Moravian.

from a knee injury that sidelined her for most of 1998, had two goals
and five assists while junior forward Lindsey Forman (Sharon, MA/Sharon
HS) had two goals and two assists. Matijasich scored the only goal
in a 1-0 victory over arch-rival Muhlenberg College, the first win

on the MAC Academic Honor Roll. Junior forward Mary Beth Walsh (Mahwah,
NJ/Mahwah HS) and freshman midfielder Alex Camarano (Allentown/Allentown
Central Catholic HS) each had one assist this season. Camarano played
just four matches this year before being sidelined by a knee injury for
the remainder of the season.
Helping out on defense for the Lady Greyhounds were sophomore defender Nicole
Kalogeras (Hatfield/Lansdale Catholic HS) and junior midfielder Debbie
Hartelius (Fanwood, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood HS). The duo and a
trio of goalies helped Moravian post eight shutouts in 12 wins this
season.
