At Jim Tuppeny Twilight Meet hosted by Villanova University No Team Scores Moravian Individual Results
Junior Heather McGarive placed fourth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:42.24 as Moravian's only female competitor at the Jim Tuppeny Twillight Meet hosted by Villanova University.
At 2004 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Messiah College 1st of 10 Moravian Individual Results Moravian Relay Results
The Greyhounds captured their 12th straight Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championship, and head coach Doug Pollard was named the Coach of the Year on the third and final day of the 2004 MAC Championships hosted by Messiah College. Moravian won the meet with a team score of 160.33, 35.5 points ahead of second place Susquehanna University. The Greyhounds had one individual champion on the final day with junior Kirsten Rotzell winning the triple jump with a leap of 11.28 meters (37 feet 1/4 inch). Rotzell was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.64 seconds, and she also ran a leg of Moravian's winning 4x100-meter relay squad. Join Rotzell to post the winning time of 49.0 seconds were freshmen Erin Recker, Suzanne Tamlyn and Kathleen McCarron.
McCarron also placed fifth in the triple jump at 10.49 meters (34 feet, five inches) while Recker was second in the 100-meter dash in 12.49 seconds and fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.28 seconds. Tamlyn was fourth in the 100-meter dash in 12.83 seconds and fifth in the 200-meter dash in 26.34 seconds. Freshman Amy Reehil placed eighth in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.78, and she was eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:08.86. Junior Margaret Benny took third in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.49 seconds, and Benny was seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.80. Benny and Reehil also ran on the 4x400-meter relay squad with sophomore Rebecca Moore and junior Heather McGarive. The squad was fourth in a time of 4:08.65.
McGarvie was second in the 800 meter run finals at 2:17.97, and she was also second in the 1,500 meters in 4:44.63. Junior Kellie Smith placed 11th in the 1,500 meters at 5:13.69 while sophomore Lauren Bahnatka finished 15th in 5:15.63. Junior Chelsea Mullins ran to a sixth place finish in the 5,000 meters in 19:22.91 while junior Kelly Haymaker was 15th at 21:15.15.
Junior Julie Anderson led Moravian in the throwing events on the final day of the MAC Championships. Anderson placed second in the hammer throw with a toss of 40.23 meters (132 feet). Freshman Tammy Balliet was fifth in the hammer at 37.51 meters (123 feet, one inch) while freshman Stacey Shaneberger placed sixth at 33.78 meters (110 feet, ten inches). Freshman Kelly Applegate had a third place finish in the javelin with a toss of 34.53 meters (113 feet, three inches).
At 2004 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Messiah College Second Day Results (3rd of 10) Moravian Individual Results
Freshman Kelly Applegate captured her first-ever individual championships, winning the shot put on the second day of the 2004 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Messiah College. The Greyhounds, who have won the meet the last 11 MAC titles, are currently in third place with 54.33 points, just 5.27 points behind leader, Messiah. Applegate won the shot put with a toss of 12.73 meters (41 feet, 9 1/4 inches), and she placed eighth in the discus with a toss of 31.02 meters (101 feet, nine inches).
In other field events on the second day, sophomore Rebecca Moore placed second in the pole vault, clearing 3.20 meters (ten feet, six inches), and sophomore Lynsey Boggess placed second in the high jump at 1.60 meters (five feet, three inches). Junior Kirsten Rotzell earned a second place finish in the long jump at 5.21 meters (17 feet, 1 1/2 inches) while freshman Kathleen McCarron was 12th in the long jump at 4.47 meters ( 14 feet, 8 1/4 inches). Junior Julie Anderson was ninth in the discus with a toss of 30.47 meters (100 feet) while freshman Stacey Shaneberger was tenth at 30.43 meters (99 feet, ten inches). Shaneberger also placed seventh in the shot put at 10.44 meters (34 feet, three inches) while freshman Tammy Balliet was sixth in the event with a toss of 10.49 meters (34 feet, five inches).
In the second day of the heptathlon, junior Alison Stoyko finished in tenth place after all seven events with 1,961 points while senior Robin Edward was 11th with 1,141 points.
In the preliminary sprint races, freshman Erin Recker was first in the 100-meter dash in 12.58 seconds, and she was third in the 200-meter dash in 26.02 seconds to move into the finals of both events. Freshman Suzanne Tamlyn also moved onto the finals in both races with a second place finish in the 100-meter dash in 12.83 seconds and a sixth place finish in the 200-meter dash in 26.28 seconds. In the 400-meter dash, freshman Amy Reehil moved onto the finals with a time of 1:02.63, placing eighth. Reehil also qualified for the finals with an eighth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:09.61. Junior Margaret Benny was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.60 seconds and seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.71 to move onto Saturday's finals while Rotzell moved into the finals of the 100-meter hurdles with a third place preliminary time of 15.49 seconds.
In the 800-meter preliminary race, junior Heather McGarvie qualified for the finals with a second place finish in 2:20.80. Junior Kellie Smith was 11th at 2:27.15 while freshman Jessica Santiago was 17th at 2:30.0. In the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase, sophomore Alexis Vergalla placed fifth in 12:03.11 while sophomore Lauren Bahnatka was sixth in 12:15.53 and senior Lauren Laviola was eighth at 12:34.74.
At 2004 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Messiah College First Day Results
Moravian had six competitors participate in the first day of the 2004 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Messiah College. Junior Chelsea Mullins earned All-Conference First Team honors in the 10,000-meter run with a second place finish in 39:52.65. Junior Kelly Haymaker was 13th in the race in 44:21.57 while sophomore Ellen Hansen was 16th at 45:50.02 and junior Kim Bushner was 17th with a time of 46:25.02.
In the first day of the heptathlon, junior Alison Stoyko and senior Robin Edward were in competition. Stoyko was tenth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 21.90 second to earn 164 points. Stoyko was also eighth in the high jump, clearing 1.15 meters (three feet, 9 1/4 inches) for 266 points, fourth in the shot put with a toss of 7.57 meters (24 feet, ten inches) for 372 points and 11th in the 200-meter dash in 32.52 seconds for 321 points. Edward placed 11th in the 100-meter hurdles in 23.15 seconds for 94 points, and she failed to clear a height in the high jump. Edward was 11th in the shot put at 5.82 meters (19 feet, 1 1/4 inches) for 260 points, and she earned 364 points in the 200-meter dash with a time of 31.80 seconds, which placed her tenth in the event.
At Lafayette College Invitational No Team Scores Moravian Individual Results Moravian Relay Results
Moravian competed in the non-scoring Lafayette College Invitational in the team’s final competition before the 2004 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships. Junior Heather McGarvie provisionally qualified in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:37.70 while the Greyhound 4x100-meter relay team of freshmen Erin Recker, Suzanne Tamlyn and Kathleen McCarron and junior Kirsten Rotzell provisionally qualified with a time of 49.03 seconds.
In the spring events, Tamlyn ran times of 13.23 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 25.99 seconds in the 200-meter dash while McCarron posted a 13.26 in the 100-meter dash and Recker ran a time of 26.11 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Rotzell posted a hand time of 15.9 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles while junior Margaret Benny had a hand time of 15.4 seconds. In the 400-meter hurdles, Benny ran a 1:09.82 while Amy Reehil posted a time of 1:08.55 and sophomore Rebecca Moore ran a 1:11.27. Benny, Moore, Reehil and McGarvie combined to run a time of 4:08.54 in the 4x400-meter relay.
In the distance events, junior Kellie Smith ran a time of 5:15.40 in the 1,500 meters. Smith also had a time of 2:30.95 in the 800 meters while freshman Jessica Santiago ran a 2:30.39 to win her heat of the 800 meters. Junior Chelsea Mullins led a trio of Greyhounds in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:44.80 while junior Kelly Haymaker finished the race in 20:21.50 and senior Jen Brief posted a 22:04.30. Freshman Ellen Hanson ran the 10,000 meters in 45:53.00 while junior Kim Bushner posted a time of 45:58.20. Sophomore Lauren Bahnatka ran a time of 11:58.10 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase while sophomore Alexis Vergalla finished the event in 12:23.50.
In the field events, Moore placed fifth in the pole vault, clearing ten feet, four inches (3.15 meters) while sophomore Lynsey Boggess was third in the high jump at five feet, three inches (1.60 meters). McCarron finished seventh in both the long jump at 4.81 meters (15 feet, 9 ½ inches) and in the triple jump at 10.35 meters (33 feet, 11 ½ inches). Freshman Kelly Applegate placed seventh in the shot put with a toss of 11.54 meters (37 feet, 10 ½ inches), and Applegate had distances of 31.24 meters (102 feet, six inches) in the discus and 29.20 meters (95 feet, ten inches) in the javelin. Junior Julie Anderson placed eighth in the hammer throw with a toss of 42.83 meters (140 feet, six inches), and she had a distance of 30.30 meters (99 feet, five inches) in the discus while freshman Stacey Shaneberger posted distances of 34.93 meters (114 feet, seven inches) in the hammer throw, 28.24 meters (92 feet, eight inches) in the discus throw and 10.15 meters (33 feet, 3 ¾ inches) in the shot put. Freshman Tammy Balliet had a toss of 31.79 meters (104 feet, three inches) in the hammer and a distance of 9.55 meters (31 feet, four inches) in the shot put.
At Golden Bear Multis hosted by Kutztown University Second Day Results Moravian Individual Results
Junior Alison Stoyko and senior Robin Edward competed in the second day of the heptathlon at Golden Bear Multis hosted by Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Stoyko placed 14th with a score of 1,988 points while Edward was 15th with 1,670 points. In the second day events, Stoyko was 14th in the long jump at 3.45 meters (11 feet, four inches), 13th in the javelin with a toss of 16.89 meters (55 feet, five inches) and 13th in the 800-meter run at 2:45.12. Edward finshed 13th in the long jump at 3.46 meters (11 feet, 4 1/4 inches), 15th in the javelin with a toss of 13.55 meters (44 feet, five inches) and 15th in the 800-meter run at 2:56.83.
At Golden Bear Multis hosted by Kutztown University First Day Results Moravian Individual Results
Senior Robin Edward and junior Alison Stoyko competed in the first day of the heptathlon at the Golden Bear Multis hosted by Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Edward placed 15th in the 100-meter hurdles in 22.80 seconds, 15th in the high jump at 1.07 meters (three feet, six inches), 15th in the shot put at 5.61 meters (18 feet, five inches) and 14th in the 200 meter dash in 31.91 seconds. Stoyko finished 14th in the 100-meter hurdles in 22.73 seconds, 14th in the high jump at 1.22 meters (four feet), 14th in the shot put at 6.67 meters (21 feet, 10 3/4 inches) and 15th in the 200 meter dash in 33.04 seconds.
At University of Delaware Invitational 3rd of 12 Moravian Individual Results
The Greyhounds finished third of 12 NCAA Division II and III schools at the University of Delaware Invitational with a team score of 87 points. Moravian had two first place finishers with junior Heather McGarvie winning the 1,500 meters in 4:42.25, and sophomore Lynsey Boggess capturing the high jump with a leap of 1.60 meters (five feet, three inches).
Junior Kellie Smith was 12th in the 1,500 meters in 5:15.76 while sophomore Lauren Bahnatka placed 14th in 5:19.47. Smith also took seventh in the 800-meter run in 2:28.75 while freshman Jessica Santiago was eighth at 2:30.03. Sophomore Alexis Vergalla finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:10.88.
In the sprint events, freshman Erin Recker placed fifth in the 200-meter dash in 26.50 seconds, and she was seventh in the 100-meter dash in 13.01 seconds. Sophomore Stephanie Beitler placed ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.78 while freshman Amy Reehil was tenth at 1:03.05. Reehil also took fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.37 while junior Margaret Benny was fifth in 1:10.34 and sophomore Rebecca Moore placed eighth at 1:11.56. Benny placed third in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.70 seconds while junior Kirsten Rotzell was ninth in the event with a time of 22.70 seconds.
In the field events, freshman Kelly Applegate placed third in the shot put with a toss of 11.40 meters (37 feet, five inches), fourth in the javelin at 32.57 meters (106 feet, ten inches) and seventh in the discus with a toss of 32.72 meters (107 feet, four inches). Junior Julie Anderson placed second in the hammer throw at 39.05 meters (128 feet, one inch) and 11th in the discus at 26.93 meters (88 feet, four inches). Beitler was tenth in the javelin at 23.17 meters (76 feet) and 12th in the shot put at 7.65 meters (25 feet, 1 1/4 inches). Freshman Tammy Baillet finished fourth in the hammer throw at 34.26 meters (112 feet, five inches) while Moore was second in the pole vault at 3.00 meters (nine feet, ten inches).

Moravian competed at the non-scoring Muhlenberg College Invitational and had six individual event winners. Junior Kirsten Rotzell won a trio of events, capturing the long jump at 5.33 meters (17 feet, six inches), the triple jump with a leap of 11.01 meters (36 feet, 1 1/2 inches) and the 100-meter hurdles in 15.74 seconds, after a time of 15.68 seconds in the preliminaries, which she also won. Junior Heather McGarvie took first in the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:49.66 while sophomore Lynsey Boggess won the high jump at 1.58 meters (five feet, 2 1/4 inches) and sophomore Rebecca Moore captured the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.05 meters (14 feet).
Freshmen Erin Recker and Suzanne Tamlyn led Moravian in the sprint events. Recker was third in the 100-meter dash in 13.04 seconds and fourth in the 200-meter dash at 26.71 seconds, while Tamlyn placed fourth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.14 seconds and third in the 200-meter dash at 26.69 seconds. Tamlyn had run a time of 13.08 in the preliminaries. Moore ran a time of 13.82 in the 100-meter dash to place 14th in the preliminaries while freshman Kathleen McCarron was ninth in 13.48 seconds and junior Margaret Benny placed 12th at 13.78 seconds. Freshman Amy Reehil placed fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.27 while Benny was second in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.78 seconds. Benny finished seventh in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:11.25 and was followed by Moore in 12th place at 1:13.45 and Reehil in 18th place at 1:15.12. Recker, Tamlyn, Moore and Rotzell combined to place second in the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 49.79 seconds.
In the distance events, junior Kellie Smith was 12th in the 1,500 meters at 5:12.10 while freshman Jessica Santiago was 13th in the 800-meter run at 2:33.54. Sophomore Stephanie Beitler ran a time of 2:36.86 to place 16th in the 800 meters. Junior Chelsea Mullins led five Greyhounds in the 5,000-meter run with a fifth place finish of 18:53.10, and she was followed by junior Kelly Haymaker in 13th place at 20:03.46, senior Jennifer Brief at 19th place in 21:18.98, freshman Ellen Hansen in 20th place with a time of 21:23.30 and junior Kim Bushner at 23rd place in 21:39.08. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, sophomore Lauren Bahnatka placed fifth in 12:10.31, sophomore Alexis Vergalla was sixth at 12:19.43 and senior Lauren Laviola placed eighth in a time of 12:49.42.
McCarron recorded distances of 10.18 meters (33 feet, 4 3/4 inches) in the triple jump to place fifth and 4.88 meters (16 feet, 1/4 inch) in the long jump to finish in seventh place.
In the throwing events, freshman Kelly Applegate was second in the shot put at 10.99 meters (36 feet, 3/4 inch), fifth in the javelin at 31.49 meters (103 feet, four inches) and seventh in the discus with a toss of 31.57 meters (103 feet, seven inches). Freshman Stacey Shaneberger finished fourth in the shot put at 10.44 meters (34 feet, three inches), fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 37.97 meters (124 feet, seven inches) and eighth in the discus at 30.69 meters (100 feet, eight inches) while junior Julie Anderson placed third in the hammer throw at 38.45 meters (126 feet, two inches) and ninth in the discus at 30.44 meters (99 feet, ten inches). Freshman Tammy Balliet had a toss of 28.24 meters (92 feet, eight inches) in the hammer throw while Beitler was 16th in the javelin at 23.79 meters (78 feet, one inch). Senior Robin Edward was 23rd in the javelin with a toss of 15.11 meters (49 feet, seven inches).
At 2nd Annual Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University No Team Scores Moravian Individual Results
The Greyhounds had four distance runners compete in the 10,000-meters at the 2nd Annual Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University. Junior Chelsea Mullins placed fourth in 40:57 89, and she was followed by junior Kelly Haymaker in fifth with a time of 43:55.87, junior Kim Bushner at sixth place in 45:58.82 and freshman Ellen Hansen in seventh in a time of 46:19.09.
At 2004 Lehigh Valley Championships hosted by Lehigh University 4th of 6 Moravian Individual Results Moravian Relay Results
Moravian began its 2004 outdoor season with a fourth place finish at the 2004 Lehigh Valley Championships hosted by Lehigh University. The Greyhounds had a team score of 71 points and were the top NCAA Division III team. NCAA Division II Kutztown University of Pennsylvania won the meet with 194 points and was followed by NCAA Division II East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and NCAA Division I Lehigh. Junior Kirsten Rotzell had Moravian's only individual championship, winning the 100-meter hurdles in 15.46 seconds.
The Greyhounds also earned points in the 400-meter hurdles from a sixth place finish by junior Margaret Benny in 1:10.60 and an eighth place showing by freshman Amy Reehil in a time of 1:11.07. In the sprint races, freshmen Erin Recker and Suzanne Tamlyn each scored in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Recker was second in the 100-meters in 13.07 seconds, and she placed sixth in the 200-meter dash in 26.68 seconds. Tamlyn was eighth in the 100-meter dash in 13.26 seconds and fifth in the 200-meter dash in 26.55 seconds. Junior Heather McGarvie placed third in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:19.13 to earn points for the Greyhounds.
Moravian had both of its relay teams finish fourth to earn points in the meet. The 4x100-meter relay squad of Rotzell, Recker, Tamlyn and freshman Kathleen McCarron had a time of 50.16 seconds while the 4x400-meter relay squad of Reehil, Benny, McGarvie and sophomore Stephanie Beitler posted a time of 4:15.16.
Sophomore Rebecca Moore tied for second in the pole vault at a height of 3.05 meters (ten feet) to earn points for Moravian in the field events. Junior Julie Anderson earned points in the hammer throw with a fourth place distance of 39.78 meters (130 feet, six inches and in the discus throw with a sixth place toss of 32.36 meters (106 feet, two inches). McCarron scored points for a third place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 10.66 meters (34 feet, 11 3/4 inches) while freshman Kelly Applegate received points for a fifth place finish in the shot put with a toss of 10.88 meters (35 feet, 8 1/2 inches).
McCarron also competed in the 100-meter dash, finishing 11th in a time of 13.54 seconds while junior Kellie Smith was ten in the 800-meter run at 2:28.17. Benny was tenth in the 100-meter hurdles at 16.77 seconds.
In other field results, Applegate was tenth in the discus at 30.90 meters (101 feet, four inches) while Beitler placed 15th in the shot put at 7.24 meters (23 feet, nine inches). Freshman Tammy Balliet was ninth in the hammer throw with a toss of 34.08 meters (111 feet, 10 inches), and she was 13th in the shot put at 9.13 meters (29 feet, 11 1/2 inches). Freshman Stacey Shaneberger placed ninth in the shot put at 10.45 metes (34 feet, 3 1/2 inches) while junior Alison Stoyko was 17th with a toss of 6.37 meters (20 feet, 10 3/4 inches) and senior Robin Edward was 18th at 5.07 meters (16 feet, 7 3/4 inches).

Junior jumper/sprinter Kirsten Rotzell placed eighth in her flight and 13th overall in the triple jump on the second day of the 2004 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Junior jumper/sprinter Kirsten Rotzell is the only Greyhound competing at the 2004 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships being hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Rotzell made the finals of the long jump competition and placed ninth with a jump of 5.28 meters (17 feet, four inches). In the 55-meter hurdles, Rotzell placed sixth in her preliminary heat with a time of 8.55 seconds. She was 14th of 16 competitors overall.

Moravian captured its ninth straight Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship, taking home the title at the 2004 meet hosted by Susquehanna University. The Greyhounds had a team score of 146 points while Elizabethtown College was second with 92 points. Moravian head coach Doug Pollard was named the Coach of the Year while freshman Suzanne Tamlyn each Rookie of the Year honors.
The Greyhounds had six individual champions at the meet with Tamlyn winning her first collegiate goal medal in the 200-meter dash with an MAC record time of 26.28 seconds. Junior Kirsten Rotzell won the long jump with an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying leap of 5.49 meters (18 feet, 1/4 inch), and she took home the title in the triple jump with a distance of 11.27 meters (36 feet, 11 3/4 inches), which also provisionally qualifies for the NCAA Division III Championships in two weeks. Junior Julie Anderson captured first in the 25-pound weight throw with a toss of 14.50 meters (47 feet, seven inches) while freshman Erin Recker won the 55-meter dash with an MAC record and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7.32 seconds. Junior Chelsea Mullins had the Greyhounds final first-place finish with a time of 19:03.55 in the 5,000-meter run.
Tamlyn also placed second in the 55-meter dash in a time of 7.36, which also passed the previous MAC record. Rotzell was second in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 8.46 seconds, which bettered the previous MAC record and provisionally qualified her in the event for the NCAA Championships. Rotzell was also fifth in the 55-meter dash in a time of 7.52 after qualifying in 7.42 seconds. Rotzell placed seventh in the 200-meter dash in 27.25 seconds while Recker was fourth in 26.97 seconds. Other sprint competitors for Moravian included junior Margaret Benny placing fourth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.84 seconds and sophomore Stephanie Beitler taking eighth in the 400-meter dash in 1:05.66.
In the distance events, junior Heather McGarvie placed third in the 1,500-meter run in 5:02.15 while sophomore Alexis Vergalla was eighth in 5:16.49 and senior Lauren Laviola placed 14th with a time of 5:25.20. Junior Kellie Smith finished fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:26.17 while McGarvie placed ninth in 2:28.11. Sophomore Lauren Bahnatka finished ninth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 19:56.43.
The Greyhounds competed in all four relay races at the championships. Moravian's 4,000-meter distance medley relay squad of Smith, Beitler, Mullins and freshman Amy Reehill placed third in 13:03.41 while the 4x200-meter relay team of Tamlyn, Reehill, Benny and Recker also took third place with a time of 1:49.15. The 4x800-meter relay squad of McGarvie, Beitler, Smith and freshman Jessica Santiago finished fourth in 10:20.88 while the 4x400-meter relay team of Benny, Reehill, sophomore Rebecca Moore and freshman Kathleen McCarron was fourth in a time of 4:18.51.
Moore tied her previous MAC record in the pole vault, clearing ten feet (3.04 meters) but she placed second based on the number of jumps to clear the height. Freshman Sarah Mueller placed seventh in the pole vault after clearing nine feet (2.74 meters). McCarron was the runner-up in the long jump to Rotzell with a jump of 5.21 meters (17 feet, 1 1/4 inches), and McCarron placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.83 meters (35 feet, 6 1/2 inches). Freshman Stacey Shaneberger finished second in the weight throw at 13.35 meters (43 feet, 9 3/4 inches) and tenth in the shot put with a toss of 9.85 meters (32 feet, 3 3/4 inches) while freshman Tammy Baillet took sixth in both events with distances of 11.10 meters (36 feet, five inches) in the weight throw and 10.28 meters (33 feet, 8 3/4 inches) in the shot put. Sophomore Lynsey Boggess finished third in the high jump, clearing five feet, two inches (1.57 meters).
At Keogh Invitational at Haverford College No Team Scores Moravian Individual Results
Junior Heather McGarvie won the 1,500 meters in a season best time of 4:51.18 to lead Moravian at the non-scoring Keogh Invitational hosted by Haverford College. Junior Chelsea Mullins had a time of 5:26.65 in the 1,500-meter run to win her heat while senior Robin Edward placed sixth in the heat in 5:51.81. Junior Kellie Smith had a personal best time of 2:26.76 in the 800 meters to win her heat. Sophomore Stephanie Beitler ran a 1:02.97 in the 400-meter dash to be place second in her heat.
At Bucknell University Winter Classic No Team Scores Moravian Individual Results Moravian Relay Results
Freshman sprinter Suzanne Tamlyn led Moravian at the non-scoring Bucknell University Winter Classic with a trio of top five finishes in two events. Tamlyn was third in her preliminary heat of the 60-meter dash in 8.03 seconds, and she went on to win the 60-meter dash consolation race in 8.05 seconds. Tamlyn also won her second of the 200-meter dash in 26.71 seconds. In other sprint races, junior Margaret Benny was third in her preliminary heat of the 60-meter hurdles in 9.76 seconds, and she placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdle consolation race in 9.78 seconds. Benny also had times of 1:06.01 in the 400-meter dash and 28.97 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Freshman Erin Recker placed third in her heat of the 60-meter dash in 7.99 seconds and then took eighth in the finals with a time of 8.02 seconds. Freshman Amy Reehill posted a time of 27.71 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Reehill teamed up with junior Heather McGarvie, sophomore Rebecca Moore and freshman Kathleen McCarron to place fifth in the second heat of the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 4:27.84.
In the distance events, senior Lauren Laviola led a trio of Greyhounds in the mile run with a time of 5:46.05, good enough for eighth place in the heat. Sophomore Alexis Vergalla was 12th in 5:53.52 while junior Alison Stoyko placed 14th in 6:03.35. Sophomore Stephanie Beitler took ninth in the second heat of the 800 meters in 2:32.05 while junior Kellie Smith was fifth in the third heat at 2:34.98. Sophomore Lauren Bahnatka placed 12th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 20:15.47. Beitler and Smith combined with junior Chelsea Mullins and freshman Jessica Santiago to finish third in the 4,000-meter distance medley relay with a time of 13:22.32.
Moore tied for fifth in the pole vault, clearing 3.15 meters (ten feet, four inches) to lead Moravian in the field events. Sophomore Lynsey Boggess was tied for eighth in the high jump at 1.49 meters (four feet, 11 inches). Junior Julie Anderson led a trio of Greyhounds in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 13.71 meters (44 feet, 11 3/4 inches), which placed her seventh. Freshman Stacey Shaneberger took tenth place with a distance of 13.05 meters (42 feet, 9 3/4 inches) while freshman Tammy Balliet placed 16th with a toss of 11.31 meters (37 feet, 1 1/4 inches). Shaneberger also took tenth in the shot put at 10.46 meters (34 feet, four inches) while Balliet was 11th with a toss of 10.04 meters (32 feet, 11 1/4 inches).

Junior Kirsten Rotzell provisionally qualified for the 2004 NCAA Division III National Championships in the triple jump and long jump as the only Greyhound competing at the Robert J. Kane Invitational hosted by Cornell University. Rotzell placed sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.37 meters (37 feet, 3 3/4 inches), and she took seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.48 meters (17 feet, 11 3/4 inches).

Junior Kirsten Rotzell placed second in the finals of the 55-meter hurdles in an NCAA Division provisional qualifying time of 8.532 seconds to lead Moravian at the non-scoring Fifth Annual Dick DeShriver Invitational hosted by East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. Rotzell won her heat in the preliminaries in 8.616 seconds, and she posted a preliminary time of 7.569 seconds in the 55-meter dash, second to freshman Erin Recker's time of 7.512 in that heat. Freshman Suzanne Tamlyn was second in her heat of the 55-meter dash at 7.547 seconds while freshman Kathleen McCarron was third in her heat at 7.718 seconds. Rotzell had a time of 27.327 in the 200-meter dash to take second in her heat while Recker was fourth in 27.536 seconds. Moravian's 4x400-meter relay team of McCarron, junior Margaret Benny, sophomore Rebecca Moore and freshman Amy Reehill placed third in its heat with a time of 4:20.110. Freshman Amy Reehill had a time of 1:04.82 in the 400-meter dash while Moore posted a time of 1:06.78.
In the distance events, junior Chelsea Mullins placed sixth in the 5,000-meter run in 19:20.27 while junior Kim Bushner took 16th in 22:07.17. In the mile run, junior Allison Stoyko was fifth in her heat at 6:02.757 while senior Lauren Laviola finished sixth in 6:02.889. Sophomore Alexis Vergalla was 15th in her heat of the mile run in 6:04.259. Junior Kellie Smith placed sixth in the 1,000-meter run in 3:19.121 while sophomore Lauren Bahnatka was 15th in the 3,000-meter run in 11:45.472. In the 800-meter run, junior Heather McGarvie placed second in the first heat with a time of 2:22.391. Sophomore Stephanie Beitler won the second heat in 2:31.971 while freshman Jessica Santiago was sixth in the heat at 2:39.951. The Greyhounds 4x800-meter relay A squad of Beitler, McGarvie, Santiago and Smith was second at 9:56.04 while the B team of Stoyko, Vergalla and seniors Robin Edward and Lauren Laviola had a time of 11:01.20.
Junior Julie Anderson took second in the 25-pound weight throw with a toss of 47 feet, 10 1/2 inches (14.59 meters) to lead Moravian in the field events. Freshman Stacey Shaneberger had a distance of 45 feet, one inch (13.74 meters) in the weight throw and a toss of 35 feet, 4 1/2 inches (10.78 meters) in the shot put. Freshman Tammy Balliet recorded distances of 35 feet, ten inches (10.92 meters) in the weight throw and 33 feet, 11 inches (10.33 meters) in the shot put. McCarron was second in the triple jump with a distance of 35 feet, 4 3/4 inches (10.78 meters), and she was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 9 1/2 inches (5.11 meters). Moore and sophomore Lynsey Boggess each cleared nine feet, six inches (2.89 meters) in the pole vault.
At Susquehanna University Invitational No Team Scores Moravian Individual Results Moravian Relay Results
Moravian returned to action at the non-scoring Susquehanna University Invitational. Junior Kirsten Rotzell had a trio of top ten finishes to lead the Greyhounds. Rotzell provisionally qualified for the 2004 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships in the long jumpe with a leap of 5.51 meters (18 feet, one inch), good enough for second place in the competition. Rotzell also took third in the triple jump at 11.13 meters (36 feet, 6 1/4 inches), and she placed seventh in the 55-meter dash in 7.58 seconds after running a time of 7.51 seconds in the preliminaries.
Other top ten finishes for the Greyhounds included sophomore Rebecca Moore placing third in the pole vault at ten feet (3.04 meters), freshman Kathleen McCarron in sixth place in the long jump at 4.97 meters (16 feet, 3 3/4 inches), junior Julie Anderson placing fifth in the 25-pound weight throw with a toss of 13.02 meters (42 feet, 8 3/4 inches), freshman Stacey Shaneberger finishing ninth in the shot put at 10.08 meters (33 feet, one inch), junior Chelsea Mullins in fifth place in the 5,000-meter run in 19:15.61, freshman Suzanne Tamlyn taking eighth in the 55-meter dash in 7.62 seconds, freshman Erin Recker placing ninth in the 55-meter dash in 7.63 seconds, Tamlyn finishing tenth in the 200-meter dash in 27.91 seconds, junior Kellie Smith placing tenth in the 800-meter run in 2:34.93 and sophomore Lynsey Boggess finishing tenth in the high jump at four feet, ten inches (1.47 meters).
The Greyhounds 4x200-meter relay team of Moore, Tamlyn, Recker and junior Margaret Benny was fourth in 1:52.62 while the distance medley relay squad of Smith, sophomore Stephanie Beitler and Alexis Vergalla and freshman Jessica Santiago placed tenth in 14:06.47.
In other track action, Benny placed 12th in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.46 seconds after running a 9.34-second race in the preliminaries. McCarron had a time of 7.71 seconds in the preliminaries of the 55-meter dash. Junior Kim Bushner placed 24th in the 5,000-meter run in 22:28.02 while freshman Ellen Hansen was 25th in 23:35.02. Senior Lauren Laviola placed 21st in the 1,500-meters in 5:37.22 while freshman Amy Reehill was 17th in the 400-meter dash in 1:04.85. Santiago placed 22nd in the 800-meters in 2:39.87 while Beitler was 25th in 2:40.76. Recker finished 13th in the 200-meters with a time of 28.49 seconds.
In the other field events for the Greyhounds, Shaneberger was 17th in the weight throw with a toss of 10.96 meters (35 feet, 11 1/2 inches). Freshman Tammy Baillet was 15th in the shot put with a toss of 9.63 meters (31 feet, 7 1/4 inches), and she placed 16th in the weight throw at 11.03 meters (36 feet, 2 1/4 inches). Sophomore Bryn Lipovsky was 23rd in the weight throw with a toss of 8.13 meters (26 feet, 8 1/4 inches).

At Lafayette College Invitational No Team Scores Moravian Individual Results Moravian Relay Results
The Greyhounds began their 2003-04 indoor season at the non-scoring Lafayette College Invitational. Moravian had five individual winners led by junior Heather McGarvie in the mile run in a time of 5:23.65. Senior Christina Scherwin won the shot put in her final competition for the Greyhounds with a distance of 13.87 meters (45 feet, 6 1/4 inches) while junior Kirsten Rotzell captured first in the 60-yard hurdles in 8.68 seconds after running a time of 8.66 in the preliminaries. Freshman Sarah Mueller and sophomore Rebecca Moore tied for first in the pole vault, clearing a height of nine feet, six inches (2.89 meters). Freshman Tammy Balliet finished 11th in the shot put with a distance of 9.94 meters (32 feet, 7 1/2 inches) while junior Ann Guzevich placed 12th with a toss of 7.76 meters (25 feet, 5 1/2 inches). Junior Margaret Benny was fifth in the 60-yard hurdles with a time of 9.20 seconds after a time of 9.04 in the preliminaries. Freshman Amy Reehill was seventh in the 60-yard hurdle preliminarlies in 10.40 seconds while sophomore Lynsey Boggess was ninth in 11.71 seconds.
Freshman Kathleen McCarron placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 10.64 meters (34 feet, 11 inches), and she was second in the long jump at 5.05 meters (16 feet, seven inches). Freshman Hannah Bath tied for second in the high jump at 1.53 meters (five feet, 1/4 inches), and she was eighth in the long jump at 4.83 meters (15 feet, 10 1/4 inches). Boggess tied for sixth in the high jump at 1.48 meters (four feet, 10 1/4 inches). Freshman Suzanne Tamlyn was second in the 60-yard dash with a time of 7.46 seconds. Tamlyn ran a time of 7.62 in the preliminaries. Freshman Erin Recker was third in the 60-yard dash in 7.51 seconds after a time of 7.57 seconds in the preliminaries. Freshman Heather Daly ran a time of 7.92 seconds to place 10th in the 60-yard dash preliminaries.
Rotzell finished fourth in the 220-yard dash with a time of 27.58 seconds while Tamlyn was sixth in 27.81. Moore and Recker tied for ninth in the 220-yard dash in 28.63 seconds. Reehill finished fourth in the 440-yard dash in 1:04.43 while Guzevich was eighth in 1:07.37 and Daly was ninth with a time of 1:08.32. The Greyhounds mile relay squad of Reehill, Moore, McGarvie and Daly finished fifth in 4:20.5.
Rounding out the Greyhound competitors were freshman Jessica Santiago with a ninth place finish in the 880-yard run with a time of 2:47.08, Balliet with a tenth place in the 20-pound weight throw after a toss of 10.23 meters (33 feet, 6 3/4 inches) and sophomore Bryn Lipovsky 13th in the weight throw at 8.53 meters (28 feet).
