At 2005 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Widener University – Final Day Results - 1st of 9  Moravian Individual Results    Moravian Relay Results

Moravian captured its 13th straight Middle Atlantic Conference Championship with a first place team finished at the 2005 MAC Championship meet held at Widener University. The Greyhounds posted a team score of 191, 60.5 points ahead of runner up Susquehanna University. Head coach Doug Pollard was named the MAC Women's Coach of the Year following the meet.

Moravian had two individuals win their events, and a relay team also captured first place while the Greyhounds set three school records. Sophomore Erin Recker broke her own school mark in the 100-meter dash with a first place finish in a time of 12.33 seconds, which also provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Division III National Championships. Senior Kirsten Rotzell won her second championship of the meet, taking first in the long jump with a leap of 5.21 meters (17 feet, 1 1/4 inches). Recker and Rotzell joined up with sophomores Kathleen McCarron and Suzanne Tamlyn to set the school record and win the 4x100-meter relay in 48.50 seconds. The time also provisionally qualifies the quartet for the NCAA Championships.

Recker also finished second in the 200-meter dash in 26.10 seconds while Rotzell was fourth in the 100 meters in 12.73 seconds and fifth in the 200 meters at 26.46 seconds. McCarron was seventh in the 100-meter dash at 13.06 seconds, and she placed second to Rotzell in the long jump at 5.15 meters (16 feet, 10 3/4 inches). Tamlyn placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.39, and she was sixth in the 200 meters in 26.57 seconds. Senior Margaret Benny set a Moravian College record while placing second in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.24 seconds, and she was third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.47. Freshman Theresa Zataveski finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.18 seconds. Sophomore Amy Reehil took sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.07 and the duo joined Tamlyn and senior Heather McGarvie to place fifth in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 4:08.69.

McGarvie ran in a pair of races on the final day of the MAC meet, placing second in the 800-meter run in 2:16.56 and third in the 1,500-meters at 4:48.22. Senior Kellie Smith also competed in the same events, finishing eighth in the 800 meters in 2:26.49 and seventh in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:59.97. Freshman Krystyn Fenon took ninth in the 1,500 meters in 5:09.65. In the 5,000-meter run, senior Chelsea Mullins finished second for the Greyhounds in a time of 18:04.70.

In other field events, senior Julie Anderson placed second in the hammer throw with a toss of 38.52 meters (126 feet, four inches) while sophomore Kelly Applegate was sixth in the javelin throw with a distance of 35.05 meters (115 feet).

At 2005 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Widener University – Second Day Results - 1st of 9

Senior Kirsten Rotzell captured first place in the triple jump to lead the Greyhounds on the second day of the 2005 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships at Widener University. Rotzell, who won the event for the fourth straight season, had a winning distance of 11.46 meters (37 feet, 7 1/4 inches), which provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Division III National Championships. Sophomore Kathleen McCarron placed third in the triple jump at 10.91 meters (35 feet, 9 1/2 inches).

In other field events, sophomore Kelly Applegate placed second in the shot put with a toss of 11.85 meters (38 feet, 10 1/2 inches) while junior Lynsey Boggess placed second in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.62 meters (five feet, four inches), which tied the Moravian record. Applegate was fifth in the discus throw with a toss of 34.80 meters (114 feet, two inches) while senior Julie Anderson placed sixth at 32.62 meters (107 feet). Senior Rebecca Moore tied for fifth in the pole vault with a height of 2.89 meters (nine feet, six inches) while freshman Jessica Cianci was ninth in the event at 2.74 meters (nine feet).

Freshman Theresa Zataveski finished sixth in the heptathlon with a point total of 2,868. On the second day of the event, Zataveski was seventh in the long jump at 4.21 meters (13 feet, 9 3/4 inches) for 357 points, eighth in the javelin with a toss of 16.99 meters (55 feet, nine inches) for 233 points and sixth in the 800-meter run at 2:45.00 for 517 points. Also in scoring events on the second day of the meet, junior Lauren Bahnatka placed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time 11:47.17 while junior Alexis Vergalla was fourth in 12:19.01.

The Greyounds had a number of competitors qualify for the finals of their events during preliminary races. In the 100-meter dash, Rotzell placed second in 12.89 seconds, sophomore Erin Recker was fourth in 12.98 seconds and McCarron was seventh at 13.08 seconds with all three runners earning a spot in the finals. In the 200-meter dash, Recker was fourth in 26.30 seconds to reach the finals while sophomore Suzanne Tamlyn took sixth in 26.53 seconds and Rotzell finished eighth in 26.70 seconds to qualify. McCarron was 12th in the 200-meter dash in 27.43 seconds but failed to move on. Tamlyn qualified in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.70 while senior Heather McGarvie was first in the qualifying for the 800 meters in 2:16.95. Senior Kellie Smith also qualified in the 800 meters with a time of 2:24.01, which placed her eighth in qualifying. Senior Margaret Benny was second in the 100-meter hurdles in a school record tying time of 15.47 seconds to move on as did Zataveski, who was seventh in 17.17 seconds. Sophomore Amy Reehill took fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.94 to earn a spot in the finals while Benny finished fifth in 1:08.23 to earn a spot as well.

At 2005 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Widener University – First Day Results - 1st of 6

Moravian had four individuals compete on the first day of the 2005 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Widener University. Senior Chelsea Mullins won her first MAC Outdoor individual title with a first place finish in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 37:47.91. Mullins win in the 10,000-meters gave the Greyhounds, the 12-time defending champion, a one-point lead over Messiah College, 10-9, after the first day of competition. Freshman Katie Pulizzano placed ninth in the 10,000-meter race at 42:00.03 while senior Kim Bushner was tenth in a time of 42:02.58. Freshman Theresa Zataveski competed in the first day of the heptathlon as well. Zataveski placed seventh in the 200-meter dash in 29.67 seconds to earn 505 points, sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.37 seconds for 555 points, sixth in the high jump at 1.27 meters (four feet, two inches) for 379 points and tied for eighth in the shot put with a toss of 6.79 meters (22 feet, 3 1/2 inches) for 322 points.

At Lehigh University Games – No Team Scores  Moravian Individual Results    Moravian Relay Results

Senior Margaret Benny won the 100-meter hurdles to lead Moravian at the non-scoring Lehigh University Games. Benny won the race in 15.62 seconds. The Greyhounds 4x100-meter relay team of senior Kirsten Rotzell and sophomores Kathleen McCarron, Erin Recker and Suzanne Tamlyn also finished first with a time of 49.20 seconds. Moravian had three other top five finishers with Rotzell taking second in the long jump with a leap of 5.18 meters (17 feet), Tamlyn finishing third in the 400-meter dash in 1:01.70 and junior Alexis Vergalla placing fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12:19.08.

In other track events for Moravian, Benny was eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.93 while sophomore Amy Reehil was ninth in the race at 1:08.86. Senior Kellie Smith finished 11th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.87, and she was 15th in the 1,500 meters in 5:02.72. Freshman Christina Roccamo placed 27th in the 800 meters in a time of 2:33.23 while freshman Nicole Sirico was 29th in the 1,500 meters in 6:01.58.

In other field events, Rotzell placed seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 10.33 meters (33 feet, 10 3/4 inches) while freshman Theresa Zataveski was 18th in the long jump at 4.21 meters (13 feet, 9 3/4 inches). Senior Julie Anderson placed 18th in the hammer throw with a toss of 40.14 meters (131 feet, 8 1/2 inches) while freshman Tina Moll took 18th in the javelin throw with a distance of 26.76 meters (87 feet, 9 3/4 inches).

At Penn Relays – No Team Scores  Moravian Individual Results 

Sophomore Kelly Applegate was Moravian's only competitor at this year's Penn Relays hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. Applegate placed 15th in the College Women Shot Put "Eastern" with a toss of 11.94 meters (39 feet, 2 1/4 inches).

At Leopard Invitational hosted by Lafayette Colllege – No Team Scores  Moravian Individual Results    Moravian Relay Results

Senior Chelsea Mullins won the 5,000-meter run to pace Moravian at the Leopard Invitational hosted by Lafayette College. The meet was postponed one day due to weather conditions. Mullins ran a time of 18:41.25 to capture first in the 5,000 meters. The Greyhounds had five other top five individual finishes with sophomore Erin Recker placing second in both the 100-meter dash in 12.40 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 26.18 seconds, junior Lynsey Boggess tying for third in the high jump at 1.55 meters (five feet, one inch), senior Heather McGarvie placing fourth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:45.90 and sophomore Kathleen McCarron finishing fourth in the long jump with a lead of 4.83 meters (15 feet 10 1/4 inches). Moravian's 4x100-meter relay team of McCarron, Recker, sophomore Suzanne Tamlyn and senior Margaret Benny placed fifth in a time of 50.05 seconds.

In other track events, Tamlyn placed eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.87 seconds, and she was 12th in the 400-meter dash at 1:00.76. McCarron finished ninth in the 200-meter dash in 27.58 seconds, and she placed 15th in the 100-meter dash in 13.33 seconds. Benny placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.39 seconds, and she was 13th in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:09.11. Sophomore Amy Reehill placed 14th in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:09.76 while freshman Katie Pulizzano finished sixth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 20:14.46. McGarvie was sixth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:20.49 while senior Kellie Smith was 14th in both the 800 meters at 2:27.38 and the 1,500 meters in 4:59.49. Junior Lauren Bahnatka was seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 12:13.12 while junior Alexis Vergalla placed ninth at 12:45.56 and senior Kim Bushner was 14th at 13:52.34. Freshman Christina Roccamo took 17th in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:28.04 while freshman Nicole Sirico placed 35th in the 1,500 meters in 6:00.49.

In the throwing events, sophomore Kelly Applegate placed seventh in both the shot put at 11.72 meters (38 feet, 5 1/2 inches) and the javelin with a toss of 32.12 meters (105 feet, 4 3/4 inches) while senior Julie Anderson finished 11th in the hammer throw at 38.98 meters (127 feet, 11 inches) and 15th in the discus with a toss of 29.92 meters (98 feet, 2 1/4 inches). Freshman Tina Moll placed eighth in the javelin at 29.72 meters (97 feet, 6 1/4 inches), and she was 22nd in the shot put at 9.00 meters (29 feet, 6 1/2 inches).

At Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University – Second Day Results - No Team Scores  Moravian Individual Results    Moravian Relay Results

The Greyhounds competed on the second day of the non-scoring Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University. Sophomores Kelly Applegate and Kathleen McCarron each had sixth place finishes to lead Moravian on the second day of the invitational Applegate was sixth in the javelin throw with a toss of 37.78 meters (123 feet, 11 3/4 inches) while McCarron took sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.24 meters (17 feet, 2 1/4 inches). Other top ten finishes for the Greyhounds including sophomore Suzanne Tamlyn taking eighth in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.47, senior Margaret Benny placing ninth in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.31 seconds and the 4x800-meter relay squad of senior Kellie Smith, junior Lauren Bahnatka and Alexis Vergalla and freshman Krystyn Fenon taking seventh in a time of 10:20.65.

In other track events on the second day, Tamlyn placed 17th in the 200-meter dash at 26.61 seconds while McCarron was 26th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.33 seconds and 28th in the 100-meter dash in 13.30 seconds. Benny placed 20th in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:08.51 while sophomore Amy Reehil was 22nd at 1:09.12. Fenon finished 13th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:59.69 while Bahnatka was 32nd in 5:14.81. Smith took 36th place in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:26.03. Freshman Theresa Zataveski placed 14th in the heptathlon with a two-day, eight-event total of 2,773 points.

In other field events, McCarron was 14th in the triple jump with a distance of 10.36 meters (34 feet) while Applegate was 13th in the shot put at 12.04 meters (39 feet, six inches) and 33rd in the discus with a toss of 32.15 meters (105 feet, six inches). Senior Julie Anderson was 24th in the hammer throw with a toss of 38.75 meters, and Anderson took 26th in the discus at 32.75 meters (107 feet, 5 3/4 inches). Freshman Jessica Cianci tied for 21st in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.05 meters (ten feet).

At Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University – First Day Results - No Team Scores 

Moravian had three individuals compete on the first day of the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University. Senior Chelsea Mullins placed 23rd in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 18:06.35 while junior Alexis Vergalla was 26th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:19.39. Freshman Theresa Zataveski competed in the first day of the heptathlon as well. Zataveski placed 13th in the 200-meter dash in 29.24 seconds to earn 537 points, 11th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.54 seconds for 537 points, 14th in the high jump at 1.24 meters (four feet, 3/4 inches) for 350 points and 12th in the shot put with a toss of 6.78 meters (22 feet, three inches) for 321 points.

At University of Delaware Invitational – 2nd of 9 NCAA Division II/III Schools     Moravian Individual Results    Moravian Relay Results

After having two meets cancelled by weather, Moravian finally had a chance to open its 2005 outdoor season, and the Greyhounds placed second of nine NCAA Division II/III schools at the University of Delaware Invitational. Moravian had 155.5 points while Muhlenberg owned the top spot with 169 points. Moravian had five individual winners at the meet. Senior Chelsea Mullins captured first in the 10,000-meters with a time of 38:16.60 while junior Lynsey Boggess was first in the high jump, clearing 1.60 meters (five feet, three inches). Junior Rebecca Moore took first in the pole vault at a height of 2.90 meters (nine feet, 6 1/4 inches) while sophomore Kathleen McCarron was first in the long jump with a leap of 5.32 meters (17 feet, 5 1/2 inches). Sophomore Kelly Applegate finished in the top spot in the shot put with a toss of 12.23 meters (40 feet, 1 1/2 inches). Moravian's 4x100-meter relay team of McCarron, senior Kirsten Rotzell and sophomores Erin Recker and Suzanne Tamlyn also placed first in a time of 49.05 seconds while the Greyhounds' 4x400-meter relay team of senior Kellie Smith and freshmen Krystyn Fenon, Christina Roccamo and Theresa Zataveski was sixth at 4:33.71.

In track events, Recker took second in both the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.38 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 25.83 seconds. Rotzell was third in the 100-meter at 12.97 and fifth in the 200-meters in 26.95 seconds. McCarron placed seventh in the 100-meter dash in 13.38 seconds and eighth in the 200-meters at 27.69 seconds. Tamlyn was third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.47. Senior Kim Bushner placed third in the 10,000-meters with a time of 42:43.46 while freshman Katie Pulizzano was fifth in 43:11.30. Smith took fifth in both the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.32 and the 1,500 meters at 5:03.00. Senior Heather McGarvie was sixth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:04.31 while Fenon placed eighth in 5:10.64. Freshman Nicole Sirico took 25th in the 1,500 meters in 6:05.87 while sophomore Ashley McCuen finished 18th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:49.82. Junior Lauren Bahnatka took second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:17.41 while junior Alexis Vergalla placed third in 12:45.21.

In the hurdles, senior Margaret Benny was third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.95 seconds while Zataveski took tenth at 17.73 second. Sophomore Amy Reehill finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.69 while Benny was fifth in 1:10.47. Moore finished ninth in the event with a time of 1:23.58.

In other field events, freshman Jessica Cianci was sixth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 2.60 meters (eight feet, 6 1/4 inches). Rotzell placed third in the long jump at 5.12 meters (16 feet, 9 3/4 inches) while Zataveski took 14th at 4.19 meters (13 feet, nine inches. Senior Julie Anderson was third in the hammer throw with a toss of 38.19 meters (125 feet, 3 3/4 inches), and she placed seventh in the discus with a distance of 31.04 meters (101 feet, 10 1/4 inches). Applegate placed fifth in the javelin throw with a toss of 31.53 meters (103 feet, 5 1/2 inches) while freshman Tina Moll finished third at 34.19 meters (112 feet, 2 1/4 inches). Moll was also tenth in the shot put with a toss of 8.87 meters (29 feet, 1 1/4 inches).

At 2005 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University – Second Day Results     Moravian Individual Results

Senior Kirsten Rotzell placed sixth in her flight and 13th overall in the triple jump preliminaries on the second day of the 2005 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University. Rotzell had a distance of 11.12 meters (36 feet, 5 3/4 inches) in her fifth trip to the NCAA Championships.

Moravian had two competitors in preliminary events on the first day of the 2005 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University. Senior Heather McGarvie placed fifth in her heat and 13th overall in the mile run with a time of 5:07.33 while freshman Erin Recker took fifth in her heat and tenth overall in the 55-meter dash in a school record time of 7.23 seconds. Neither competitor advanced to Saturday's finals.

At Trinity (CT) College Last Chance Meet at Yale University – No Team Scores     Moravian Individual Results

The Greyhounds had just one competitor at the Trinity (CT) College Last Chance Meet at Yale University with senior Margaret Benny winning the 55-meter hurdles in 8.56 seconds. Benny's final time met the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time and improved on her season best time by three-one hundredths of a second. The time also improved her chances of making the field for the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships next weekend. Benny ran a time of 8.63 seconds in the preliminary race.

Moravian won its tenth straight Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Championship with 150 points at the 2005 Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Susquehanna University. The host Crusaders placed second in the meet with 90.33 points. Moravian senior Kirsten Rotzell was named the Most Outstanding Performer, for the second time in her career, at the meet while head coach Doug Pollard earned MAC Coach of the Year honors. Rotzell won the long jump with a leap of 5.47 meters (17 feet, 11 1/2 inches), and she captured first in the triple jump at 11.23 meters (36 feet, 10 1/4 inches). Both distances are provisional qualifiers for the 2005 NCAA Division Indoor National Championships, and this is the fourth straight year in which Rotzell won both events at the MAC Indoor Championships. Rotzell also finished third in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.49 seconds after running a time of 7.46 seconds in the trials. She was also fourth in the 200-meter dash in 26.80 seconds.

Moravian had four other individual champions with sophomore Erin Recker winning the 55-meter dash in a Moravian College and a meet record time of 7.26 seconds, which provisionally qualifies for the NCAA meet. She had a time of 7.31 seconds in the preliminaries. Recker also won the 200-meter dash in 26.29 seconds. Sophomore Suzanne Tamlyn captured the 400-meter dash in a school record time of 59.97 seconds while senior Heather McGarvie won the 800-meter run in 2:19.58. The Greyhounds 4x200-meter relay team of Recker, Tamlyn, Rotzell and sophomore Kathleen McCarron won first place with a Moravian College record and an MAC record time of 1:46.06. McGarvie, Tamlyn, senior Margaret Benny and sophomore Amy Reehil also set a Moravian record in the 4x400-meter relay while placing second in a time of 4:06.27.

In the other relay events, the Greyhounds' 4,000-meter distance medley relay squad of senior Kellie Smith, junior Lauren Bahnatka and freshmen Krystyn Fennon and Theresa Zataveski was third in a time of 13:14.42. Moravian's 4x800-meter relay squad of Smith, Fennon, Zataveski and junior Alexis Vergalla placed sixth in a time of 10:33.38.

Benny took second in the 55-meter dash with a time of 8.59 seconds after a time of 8.69 seconds in the preliminaries while McCarron was sixth in the 55-meter dash in a time of 7.57 seconds after a time of 7.55 seconds in the trials. McCarron also finished sixth in the 200-meter dash at 27.30 seconds while Benny also placed seventh in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:03.03.

In the distance events, senior Chelsea Mullins was third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:32.03. Senior Kim Bushner took 11th in a time of 20:26.85 while Bahnatka placed 12th in 20:33.86 and freshman Katie Pulizzano finished 13th in a time of 20:34.53. Smith placed ninth in the 800 meters in 2:29.63.

McCarron was second in the long jump with a leap of 5.22 meters (17 feet, 1 1/2 inches), and she placed eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.01 meters (32 feet, 10 1/4 inches). Junior Lynsey Boggess finished second in the high jump at 1.52 meters (five feet). Junior Rebecca Moore finished second in the pole vault, clearing 3.04 meters (ten feet) while freshman Jessica Cianci was 12th at 2.59 meters (eight feet, six inches). Freshman Ashlee Scarborough was 15th in the long jump at 4.38 meters (14 feet, 4 1/2 inches) while Zataveski took 16th with a leap of 4.23 meters (13 feet, 10 1/2 inches).

In the throwing events, senior Julie Anderson placed second in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 13.34 meters (43 feet, 9 1/4 inches) while sophomore Tammy Balliet took seventh place in a distance of 11.00 meters (36 feet, 1 1/4 inches). Balliet also placed tenth in the shot with a toss of 9.77 meters (32 feet, 3/4 inch).

At 17th Annual Bucknell University Winter Classic – No Team Scores    Moravian Individual Results     Moravian Relay Results

Senior Heather McGarvie won the one mile run in a time of 5:08.82 to lead Moravian at the 17th Annual Bucknell University Winter Classic. The Greyhounds also had eight other top five finishes including a first place finish by the 4,000-meter distance medley relay team of freshman Krystyn Fenon, sophomore Ashley McCuen and juniors Rebecca Moore and Alexis Vergalla in 13:55.30. Moravian's 4x400-meter relay team of McGarvie, senior Margaret Benny and sophomores Amy Reehil and Suzanne Tamlyn set the school record with a time of 4:07.83 while finishing third.

Sophomore Erin Recker placed fifth in the finals of the 60-meter dash in a school record time of 7.88 seconds, and Recker was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 26.37 seconds. Senior Chelsea Mullins finished second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:48.21, which provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships, while Benny took third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.37 seconds. Senior Kirsten Rotzell placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.35 meters (17 feet, 6 3/4 inches) while sophomore Kathleen McCarron was fifth in the long jump at 5.31 meters (17 feet, 5 1/4 inches).

In other sprint events, McCarron was ninth in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash in 8.15 seconds while Rotzell placed 12th at 8.21 seconds. Tamlyn finished tenth in the 200-meter dash in 27.24 seconds while McCarron was 14th with a time of 27.55 seconds. Tamlyn also took seventh in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.86 while Benny was ninth at 1:03.15 and Moore was 13th in 1:05.57. Freshman Theresa Zataveski placed 12th in the 500-meter run in 1:33.03.

In other distance races, senior Kellie Smith was ninth in the mile run at 5:35.89, and she was also ninth in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 3:18.99. Fenon placed 14th in the 800-meter run in 2:33.74 while freshman Emily Graney was 15th at 2:34.81 and Vergalla was 22nd with a time of 2:38.31. Junior Lauren Bahnatka ran a time of 11:19.52 while placing eighth in the 3,000-meter run, and senior Kim Bushner had a time of 11:36.52 to finish 14th in the same event. Freshman Kate Pulizzano was eighth in the 5,000-meter run in 20:00.85.

In the field events, freshman Jessica Cianci tied for seventh in the pole vault at 2.95 meters (nine feet, eight inches) while senior Julie Anderson was sixth in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 13.28 meters (43 feet, seven inches).

At 6th Annual Dick DeSchriver Invitational Hosted by East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania – No Team Scores    Moravian Individual Results     Moravian Relay Results

Moravian had 11 student-athletes and three relay teams compete at the 6th Annual Dick DeSchriver Invitational hosted by East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. The Greyhounds had five top-five individual and three top-five relay finishes in the competition and also set two school records. Senior Margaret Benny took second in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 8.70 seconds after running a time of 8.69 seconds in the preliminaries while junior Lynsey Boggess took second in the high jump, clearing 1.62 meters (five feet, four inches). Sophomore Erin Recker placed second in the 55-meter dash in a season best time of 7.34 seconds after a 7.37 time in the preliminaries while sophomore Suzanne Tamlyn set the school record in the 500-meter run with a third place finish of 1:21.15. Senior Heather McGarvie was fourth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:25.99.

Sophomore Kathleen McCarron placed eighth in the preliminaries of the 55-meter dash in 7.62 seconds while senior Kirsten Rotzell was ninth at 7.66 seconds. Boggess also posted a time of 8.26 seconds in the 55-meter dash preliminaries, finishing 23rd. Benny ran a time of 1:25.51 in the 500-meter run, finishing sixth while sophomore Amy Reehil was 11th in the 400-meter dash in 1:05.78. Senior Kellie Smith was 11th in the 800-meter run in 2:32.27 while freshman Emily Graney took 21st with a time of 2:48.48. Sophomore Tammy Balliet was 23rd shot put at 10.43 meters (34 feet, three inches).

In the relay events, Moravian's 4x200-meter relay squad of Recker, Tamlyn, McCarron and Roztell set the school record with a time of 1:47.76, which placed fourth. In the 4,000-meter distance medley relay, Moravian's 'B' squad of McGarvie, Reehil, Smith and senior Chelsea Mullins won the event in 12:32.22 while the 'A' team of Graney, freshman Krystyn Fenon and juniors Alexis Vergalla and Lauren Bahnatka was fourth in 13:29.64.

At Muhlenberg College Pentathlon – No Team Scores     Moravian Individual Results

The Greyhounds had two student-athletes compete in the Muhlenberg College Pentathlon with freshman Theresa Zataveski finishing third with 2,128 points and freshman Ashlee Scarborough finishing fourth with 2,018 points. There were a total of five competitors in the pentathlon. Zataveski placed third in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.7 seconds, earning 596 points. She was fourth in the high jump at 1.30 meters (four feet, 3 1/4 inches) for 409 points while finishing third the shot put at 6.10 meters (20 feet, 1/4 inch) for 278 points. Zataveski was fourth in the long jump at 4.36 meters (14 feet, 3 3/4 inches), worth 393 points, and she was second in the 800-meter run at 2:50.9 for 452 points. Scarborough placed fourth in the 55-meter hurdles in 10.3 seconds, earning 483 points. She was fifth in the high jump at 1.27 meters (four feet, two inches) for 379 points while finishing second the shot put at 7.19 meters (23 feet, 7 1/4 inches) for 347 points. Scarborough was second in the long jump at 4.64 meters (15 feet, 2 3/4 inches), worth 464 points, and she was fourth in the 800-meter run at 3:02.2 for 345 points.

Moravian had two first place finishers on the second day of the 8th Annual Bison Open hosted by Bucknell University. Senior Heather McGarvie won the mile run in a time of 5:10.97 while senior Kirsten Rotzell captured the triple jump with a distance of 11.70 meters (38 feet, 4 3/4 inches). The distance was a Moravian school record and also provisionally qualified Rotzell for the NCAA Division III Championships in the event. Rotzell also placed second in her preliminary heat of the 60-meter dash in 8.11 seconds, just missing a spot in the finals.

In other sprint events, sophomore Erin Recker won her heat of the 60-meter dash preliminaries in 8.02 seconds before finishing fifth in the finals with a school record time of 7.98 seconds. Senior Margaret Benny posted a time of 8.34 seconds in the preliminaries. Recker also placed fourth in her heat of the 200-meter dash in 26.88 seconds while sophomore Suzanne Tamlyn was second in her heat at 27.63 seconds. Sophomore Kathleen McCarron also ran a time of 27.78 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Junior Rebecca Moore ran a time of 1:03.88 in the 400-meter dash. Moravian's 4x400-meter relay team of Benny, Tamlyn, McGarvie and sophomore Amy Reehil was second with a school record time of 4:09.77, edging Temple University by one-one hundredth of a second.

Senior Kellie Smith was second in her section of the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:10.10 while freshman Krystyn Fenon was eighth in the same heat at 3:19.45. Junior Lynsey Boggess placed third in the high jump, clearing 1.60 meters (five feet, three inches) while senior Julie Anderson took 12th in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 13.85 meters (45 feet, 5 1/4 inches). Sophomore Tammy Balliet was 32nd in the weight throw at 10.82 meters (35 feet, six inches).

At 8th Annual Bison Open Hosted by Bucknell University – No Team Scores - First Day Results      

Senior Chelsea Mullins had the Greyhounds top finish on the first day of the 8th Annual Bison Open hosted by Bucknell University, finishing third in the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:40.48. In the 60-meter hurdles, senior Margaret Benny placed second in her heat of the preliminaries at 9.37 seconds before placing fifth in the finals with a school record time of 9.36 seconds. Junior Rebecca Moore tied for 14th in the pole vault, clearing a height of nine feet, ten inches while freshman Jessica Cianci was 19th at nine feet, four inches. Moravian's distance medley relay team of Cianci, senior Kellie Smith, sophomore Amy Reehil and freshman Krystyn Fenon finished eighth with a time of 13:37.39.

The Greyhounds had three competitors participate in the pentathlon with sophomore Kathleen McCarron finishing ninth in the competition with a school record 2,582 points. McCarron was eighth in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 10.20 seconds for 675 points, 12th in the high jump at 1.37 meters (four feet, six inches( for 481 points, sixth in the shot put with a toss of 8.53 meters (28 feet) for 434 points, fourth in the long jump at 5.07 meters (16 feet, 7 1/2 inches) for 578 points and 16th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:54.87 for 414 points. Freshman Theresa Zataveski, who was 16th overall with 2,107 points, was tenth in the 60-meter hurdles for 609 points, tied for 18th in the high jump at 1.23 meters (four feet, 1/2 inch) for 340 points, 19th in the shot put at 5.88 meters (19 feet, 3 1/2 inches) for 264 points, 11th in the long jump at 4.59 meters (15 feet, 3/4 inch) for 451 points and 15th in the 800-meter run at 2:51.96 for 443 points. Freshman Ashlee Scarborough, who placed 19th overall with 1,331 points, was 18th in the 60-meter hurdles in 11.80 seconds for 412 points, tied for 18th in the high jump at 1.23 meters (four feet, 1/2 inch) for 340 points, tied for 17th in the shot put at 6.19 meters (20 feet, 3 3/4 inches) for 283 points and 19th in the 800-meter run at 3:07.80 points for 296 points. Scarborough was unable to record a distance in the long jump.

At Orange & Maroon Classic Hosted by Susquehanna University – No Team Scores      Moravian Individual Results    Moravian Relay Results  

Senior Heather McGarvie had the Greyhounds top finish at the Orange and Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna University, winning the 800-meter run in a time of 2:22.64. Moravian had one other runner in the race with senior Kellie Smith placing 12th in 2:31.14. In other distance races, freshman Emily Graney was 14th in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:38.39. Junior Lauren Bahnatka led a trio of Greyhounds in the 5,000 meters with an eighth place finish in a time of 19:59.28. Senior Kim Bushner was 12th in 20:28.09 while freshman Katie Pulizzano finished 15th in a time of 21:29.26. Moravian won the distance medley relay with the team of McGarvie, Smith, senior Chelsea Mullins and sophomore Amy Reehil posting a time of 12:46.14 with Moravian’s “B” team of junior Alexis Vergalla, sophomore Ashley McCuen and freshmen Theresa Zataveski and Krystyn Fenon taking fifth place at 13:47.05.

In the sprint races, sophomore Erin Recker led a trio of Greyhounds in the finals of the 55-meter dash with a second place finish of 7.37 seconds. Sophomore Kathleen McCarron was third in 7.57 seconds while sophomore Suzanne Tamlyn placed sixth in 7.85 seconds after running a time of 7.80 seconds in the preliminaries. Senior Margaret Benny was tied for eighth in the preliminaries of the 55-meter dash in 7.83 seconds. Benny was fifth in the finals of the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.80 seconds while McCarron was ninth in the preliminaries at 9.42 seconds. Recker also placed third in the 200-meter dash in 29.93 seconds while Tamlyn was fifth in 28.01 seconds. Freshman Jessica Cianci took 17th in the 200-meter dash in 29.45 seconds while freshman Kristen Wiggins was 21st at 29.76 seconds. Freshman Ashlee Scarborough placed 19th in the 400-meter dash at 1:13.27. Moravian had two teams compete in the 4x400-meter relay with the “A” team of Reehill, Benny, Tamlyn and McCarron finishing third in a time of 4:18.63 and the “B” squad of Smith, McGarvie, Zataveski and McCuen taking 11th at 4:37.41.

In the field events, McCarron was tied for tenth in the high jump, clearing a height of four feet, six inches (1.37 meters. Junior Rebecca Moore tied for fourth in the pole vault, clearing a height of nine feet, six inches (2.89 meters) while Cianci was sixth at nine feet (2.74 meters). Zataveski tied for 15th in the long jump with a leap of 4.35 meters (14 feet, 3 ¼ inches) while Scarborough was tied for 22nd at 3.98 meters (13 feet, ¾ inch). Sophomore Tammy Balliet took ninth in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 35 feet, seven inches (10.85 meters).

At Great Dane Classic Hosted by University of Albany at Armory Track & Field Center, New York, New York – 11th of 13   Moravian Individual Results    Moravian Relay Results  

Moravian, competing for the first time in over a month, finished 11th of 13 participating teams at the Great Dane Classic hosted by the University of Albany at the Armory Track & Field Center in New York City. The Greyhounds scored 23 points while Northeastern University won the meet with 132 points. Moravian was the only NCAA Division III school in the competition. Senior Chelsea Mullins earned the Greyhounds eight points with a second place finish in the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:11.56 while senior Heather McGarvie picked up six points in the mile run with a third place finish in 5:06.95. Moravian received five points for senior Julie Anderson's fourth place finish in the 25-pound weight throw with a toss of 13.73 meters (45 feet, 1/2 inch). The Greyhounds' final points came from senior Kirsten Rotzell's sixth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.47 meters (17 feet, 11 1/2 inches), worth three points, and junior Lynsey Boggess's seventh place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.55 meters (five feet, one inch), which was worth one point. Rotzell's distance in the long jump provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Division III Championships in the event.

In other field events, sophomore Tammy Balliet placed 14th in the 25-pound weight throw with a toss of 9.43 meters while sophomore Kathleen McCarron was 16th in the triple jump with a distance of 10.25 meters (33 feet, 7 1/2 inches). In other distance races, junior Alexis Vergalla placed 11th in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:57.40.

Sophomore Erin Recker was tenth in the preliminaries of the 55-meter dash in a time of 7.45 seconds, and she was 40th in the200-meter dash in 27.40 seconds. Rotzell finished 34th in the 200 meters at 27.15 seconds while sophomore Suzanne Tamlyn was 42nd in 27.51 seconds. Sophomore Amy Reehil took 22nd place in the 500-meter dash in 1:26.07 while senior Margaret Benny was 14th in the preliminaries of the 55-meter hurdles in 8.96 seconds.

Moravian's 4x400-meter relay team of McGarvie, Benny, Reehil and Tamlyn finished 12th in a time of 4:12.58.

The Greyhounds began their 2004-05 indoor season at the non-scoring Lafayette College Invitational.  Moravian had one individual winner with senior Kirsten Rotzell winning the triple jump with a distance of 11.13 meters. Rotzell also placed second in the long jump with a leap of 5.26 meters. Sophomore Kathleen McCarron placed fifth in the long jump at 4.98 meters and fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.67 meters. Freshman Theresa Zataveski placed 12th in the long jump at 4.44 meters while junior Rebecca Moore took second in the pole vault, clearing a height of nine feet, ten inches. Freshman Jessica Cianci was tied for fourth in the pole vault at eight feet, four inches while freshman Kristin Wiggins finished seventh at a height of seven feet, four inches. Junior Lynsey Boggess tied for fourth in the high jump, clearing a height of five feet, one inch.

Senior Julie Anderson was second in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 14.27 meters while sophomore Stacey Shaneberger was eighth at 12.64 meters. Sophomore Tammy Balliet was 11th in the event with a distance of 10.83 meters. Balliet also placed tenth in the shot put at 9.58 meters while freshman Ashlee Scarborough was 12th at 6.71 meters. Zataveski was 13th in the shot put with a toss of 6.01 meters.

Senior Margaret Benny finished fourth in the 60-yard hurdles in a time of 8.81 seconds after a time 8.77 seconds while winning her preliminary heat. Rotzell had a time of 8.98 seconds in the preliminaries while McCarron had a time of 9.52 seconds in the preliminaries. Sophomore Erin Recker placed third in the 60-yard dash in a time of 7.39 seconds after running the same time in the preliminaries. McCarron posted a preliminary time of 7.62 seconds while Benny had a time of 7.85 seconds in the first round. Sophomore Suzanne Tamlyn posted a time of 7.86 seconds in the preliminaries.

Recker had a time of 27.89 seconds in the 220-yard dash while Tamlyn posted a time of 28.28 seconds and Cianci had a time of 29.70 seconds. Zataveski finished the 440-yard dash with a time of 1:08.21. Sophomore Amy Reehil was fourth in the 500-meter run in a time of 1:27.73. The Greyhounds 4x440-yard relay was fifth with a time of 4:18.38.
