The Lady Greyhound track and field won its seventh straight Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship this spring with six individual winners.
Senior Kristie Reccek (Hellertown/Wilson HS) captured the 1,500-meter and the 3,000-meter titles for the second consecutive year with times of 4:41.28 and 10:12.72. Both times provisionally qualified Reccek for the NCAA Division III National Championships. Reccek also placed second in the 800 meters in a time of 2:20.07.
Freshman Emily Shertzer (Hummelstown/ Lower Dauphin HS) also won two championships, capturing first place in the 5,000 meters in 18:29.79 and in the 10,000 meters in 38:31.56.
Freshman Jennifer Lohn (Media/Penncrest HS) won the javelin with a toss of 125 feet, four inches (38.20 meters) while classmate Heidi Wolfsberger (Moosic/Riverside HS) won the 800 meters in a time of 2:19.73. Wolfsberger placed second in the 3,000 meters in a time of 10:15.95, which provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Division III National Championships. Wolfsberger has also provisionally qualified in the 1,500 meters. She had one other second place finish at the MAC meet in the 1,500 meters in 4:49.90.
At the NCAA Division III National Championships hosted at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, OH, Reccek earned All-America honors with an eighth place finish in the 3,000 meters in a time of 10:09.91. Wolfsberger placed fifth in her preliminary heat of the 1,500 meters and placed 11th in the final with a time of 4:42.16. Lohn also competed at the NCAA Division III National Championships in the javelin and placed 17th of 21 competitors with a throw of 118 feet, 11 inches.
Senior Amy Cavanaugh (Horseheads, NJ/Horseheads HS) placed second in both events won by Shertzer. Cavanaugh was second in the 5,000 meters in 18:48.57 and second in the 10,000 meters in 39:01.14. Sophomore Denele Brozino (Lehighton/Lehighton HS) placed second in the 100 meters in 13.75 seconds and took sixth in the 200 meters in 27.59 seconds.
Classmate Hannah Wood (Palm/Upper Perkiomen HS) was third in the 800 meters in 2:22.64, fourth in the 3,000 meters in 10:41.42 and fifth in the 1,500 meters in 4:53.75
Freshman Kim Jaick (Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh HS) was third in both the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:52.23 and the 3,000 meters in 10:31.60. Junior Maria Grabowski (Churchville/Villa Joseph Marie HS) was fifth in the 10,000 meters in 43:05.82 while freshman Steph Horne (Sinking Spring/Wilson West Lawn HS) was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:09.82 and seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.45 seconds.
Sophomore Brooke Dancho (Bethlehem/Freedom HS) placed fifth in the 200 meters in 27.48 seconds and sixth in the 100 meters in 14.06 seconds.
In the field events, freshman Sarah Shaneberger (Bethlehem/Southern Lehigh HS) was second in the shot put at 39 feet, 7 ¼ inches (12.07 meters) while classmate Melissa Webber (Barnegat, NJ/Monsignor Donovan HS) was second in the discus at 120 feet, nine inches (36.82 meters). Freshman Carrie McCaffery (Lebanon/Annville-Cleona HS) placed third in the javelin at 123 feet even (37.48 meters) and seventh in the shot put at 33 feet, seven inches (10.24 meters).
Dancho placed third in the long jump with a distance of 16 feet, 7 ½ inches (4.89 meters) and fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 33 feet, 11 inches (10.34 meters). Sophomore Lindsey Foreman (Sharon, MA/ Sharon HS) was third in the triple jump at 34 feet, 1 ¼ inches (10.39 meters). Junior Erica Landes (Reading/ Muhlenberg HS) tied for fourth in the high jump at four feet, 11 inches (1.50 meters).
Off the track, Dancho was named to the MAC Executive Directors All-Academic Team while Landes and sophomore Kate Westermann (Milford, CT/Lauralton Hall) earned spots on the MAC Academic Honor Roll.
