The
excitement continues in the planning efforts for the athletic facility
master plan. This plan will encompass the next 20 years for the institution.
Careful and deliberate attention has been paid to the creation of the
plan. The firm of Derek & Edson has been retained to complete the
study, along with the architectural design work of Spillman Farmer.
They are currently working on revisions to their initial set of recommendations,
to be presented to the college administration sometime this summer.
During the April board meeting, the institution's trustees
agreed to move forward with the continued development of the conceptual
design work for the facilities. These sites include: the Steel Field
complex (football field, running track, softball & baseball field,
etc.), tennis courts relocation, Breidegam Fieldhouse renovations, Johnston
Hall improvements, among others. The entire facility master plan is
being organized such that it will allow for individual projects in support
of the plan's completion.
Artist renderings of the planned facility improvements
will be available for viewing by the alumni base in the near future.
Further analysis will aid in determining a feasible approach to meet
the financial goals within the new plan.
