The St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing at Moravian College was established in 1998. Through the partnership between St. Luke’s Hospital and Health Network and Moravian College, the student in the nursing major has access to resources of St. Luke’s Hospital and Health Network, including the advanced facilities of the Priscilla Payne Hurd Education Center. These include lecture halls, classrooms, a nurses’ learning laboratory, computer laboratory, and lounges. The classrooms and lecture halls are equipped with advanced electronics, enabling faculty to provide multimedia presentations, including computer imaging. Moravian’s Reeves Library—one of the best small academic libraries in the region—is augmented by an automated interlibrary loan system with access to more than two million volumes. An acute-care hospital, the St. Luke’s Hospital and Health Network is one the nation's best teaching hospitals.

Throughout the nursing curriculum, students are immersed in a variety of clinical experiences emphasizing the promotion of health for diverse individuals, families, and communities. More than 1,000 hours of clinical practice provide the nursing student with ample opportunities to apply and test theoretical concepts in a range of health-care settings. Learning experiences are designed to foster intellectual inquiry, and critical thinking is emphasized, enabling nursing graduates to practice in virtually any health promoting or wellness care setting. Students who are interested in supplementing a non-nursing major with a foundation in nursing or health may choose to minor in nursing/health (a five-course program). Students who are already qualified as R.N.’s may complete the requirements for a B.S. degree in nursing.
