Another popular basic curricular option is the Add-Venture
program, for students who wish to concentrate in two or three academic areas or who
already have a significant background in the liberal arts. Offered to 20 incoming freshmen
each year, Add-Venture is designed for the student who wishes to pursue an academic
program not generally offered through the traditional course of study. Students in
Add-Venture usually have an extensive background in the liberal arts through their
secondary education experience. Because Add-Venture allows students maximum freedom
in choosing and justifying their programs of undergraduate studies, admission into
this program is competitive, and students invited to enroll work closely with
the faculty mentor who guides them through their entire course of study at Moravian.
The program is for students of exceptional maturity who are entering college with a
clear sense of direction and a good understanding of their personal educational goals.
Students interested in participating must articulate in writing their personal, educational,
and vocational goals and explain how they would use the freedom offered by the Add-Venture
program to meet those goals. The essays of the freshmen entering Moravian in the fall
must be submitted to the Add-Venture Program Committee by April of the year they apply.*
(This will be the only opportunity available to enter the program.) Selection of Add-Venture
students is made by the committee on the basis of an evaluation of the essays as well
as the applicants’ high school records and SAT scores.
*At the time you apply to Moravian, you should indicate whether you
wish to be part of the Add-Venture program. Applicants will receive more information
on submitting their essays.
