Determine Your Military Benefits Chapter

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) processes education benefits and determines a student's eligibility for qualifying assistance. For the most comprehensive description, eligibility requirements, and benefit information, please visit the Department of Veterans Affairs website.

Below is a brief description of each Chapter covered by VA.


Chapter 30 - The Montgomery GI Bill®

Active Duty Educational Assistance Program

Generally for individuals who entered active duty after June 30, 1985, and served continuously for three years or for individuals serving two years on active duty followed by four years of Selected Reserve.


Chapter 30 Section 3020 - The Montgomery GI Bill®

Transfer of Entitlement Program

If you are the spouse or child of a person who qualified for Chapter 30 and your parent/spouse transferred entitlement to you.


Chapter 31 - Disabled Veterans Assistance

Vocational Rehabilitation for service-connected disability of 10% or greater. Eligibility is determined on an individual basis through the Department of Veteran Affairs.


Chapter 32 - Veterans Education Assistance Program

VEAP

For individuals who entered active duty service between January 1, 1977 and June 30, 1985, have served a continuous period of 181 days or more, and have contributed to the educational program.


Chapter 33 - The Post 9/11 GI Bill®

For individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service or individuals discharged with a service connected disability after 30 days on or after September 11, 2001. Veterans, active-duty service members, and their spouses and dependents may be eligible for these benefits. Additional assistance is available for eligible veterans through Moravian University's participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program.


Chapter 35 - Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance

Educational assistance is available to spouses and children of veterans who died or are permanently disabled as the result of a service-related disability.


Chapter 1606 - The Montgomery GI Bill®

Selected Reserve Educational Assistance Program

For members of the Reserve elements of the Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, Navy and the Air National Guard. Eligibility for this program is determined by the Department of Defense of Department of Homeland Security as appropriate.


Chapter 1607 - Reserve Educational Assistance Program

REAP

For Reservists that are called to active duty to support contingency operations.


Non-VA Sponsored Benefit: Military Spouse Career Advancement Account

MyCAA

The Department of Defense provides up to $6,000 in financial assistance to the spouses of active duty and activated Guard and Reserve Service members worldwide.
