Moravian dropped its final game of the 2006 season, falling to Elizabethtown College, 4-3, in the second game of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader at Gillespie Field. The Blue Jays jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, and Elizabethtown led 4-0 after three more runs in the top of the fifth inning. The Greyhounds would get on the score board with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Sophomore outfielder Josh Baltz drew a walk with two outs and scored on an RBI double by sophomore second baseman John Bisco. Moravian added two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Senior first baseman Richie Cline led off the inning with a solo home run in what proved to be his final collegiate at-bat. The homer was Cline's sixth of the season and the 15th of his career, which is second in the Moravian record books. Later in the inning, freshman pinch hitter Eric Shea reached on a fielder's choice and would eventually score on an RBI single by senior outfielder John Howarth in his final collegiate at-bat. Moravian finished with six hits in the game with two by junior shortstop Pete Moore. Elizabethtown had seven hits with three by Mike Donahue and two from Adam Sheibley. Moravian lost its final road game of the 2006 season as the team opened a three-game Commonwealth Conference series with Elizabethtown College, falling 13-8. The Blue Jays, who clinched a berth in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament with the win, jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. The Greyhounds would cut the lead to 6-2 in the top of the sixth inning. Junior outfielder/shortstop Pete Moore led off the inning with a single and senior first baseman Richie Cline drew walk. After a sacrifice bunt by freshman outfielder Joesph Durso, freshman third baseman Matthew McCarthy hit an RBI single to score Moore. Later in the inning, senior designated hitter John Howarth delivered an RBI single to score Cline. However, Elizabethtown scored three runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning to take a 9-2 lead. Moravian would get two runs back in the top of the seventh inning with two outs. Moore started the innings by reaching on an error with two outs. Cline followed with an infield single before Durso hit a two-RBI double. The Greyhounds cut the Elizabethtown lead to 9-6 with two more runs in the top of the eighth inning. Moravian took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Sophomore outfielder Josh Baltz reached on a one-out walk, and moved to third on a DeSales error. Baltz would score on an infield RBI single by junior outfielder Pete Moore. The Bulldogs tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning on an RBI double by Matt Connors, and DeSales scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI single by Mike Bianca. The Bulldogs had nine hits in the game with two each by Connors, Bianca and Matt Johanson while the Greyhounds had six hits with two each by Baltz and freshman outfielder Joseph Durso. The Knights jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Moravian would get one run back in the bottom half of the first. Sophomore outfielder Josh Baltz led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a walk by sophomore second baseman John Bisco. After a ground out by junior shortstop/outfielder Pete Moore, senior pitcher/designated hitter Richie Cline hit an RBI single to score Baltz. Arcadia added two runs in the top of the second inning, two more in the top of the third and one in the top of the fourth inning to build a 13-1 lead. Moravian cut the lead in half in the top of the fifth inning with a pair of runs. Freshman outfielder Joseph Durso and freshman catcher Thomas Czarnecki led off the stanza with back-to-back singles. After an out, sophomore third baseman Brett Stout hit an RBI single to score Durso. After another out, sophomore outfielder Josh Baltz hit an RBI single to score Czarnecki. Moravian pulled within a run in the top of the sixth inning when freshman designated hitter Christopher Rue hit a two-out, bases loaded RBI single to score sophomore second baseman John Bisco, who had led off the inning with a walk. Moravian has canceled its non-conference game at Drew University for Sunday, April 23rd due to the Rangers needing to make up a Freedom Conference doubleheader. The game at Drew will not be rescheduled this season.

At Messiah College - Postponed until April 24th

Moravian's Commonwealth Conference doubleheader at Messiah College for Saturday, April 22nd has been postponed until Monday, April 24th due to expected heavy rain on Saturday. The first game on Monday will start at 1:00 p.m. in Grantham.

The Falcons jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a pair of unearned runs and led 12-0 before Moravian scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a three-run homer by senior outfielder Richie Cline, his fourth home run of the year. After Messiah scored five times in the top of the seventh inning for a 17-3 lead, the Greyhounds scored a run in the bottom half of the inning on a sacrifice fly by sophomore outfielder Josh Baltz which scored sophomore pitcher/second baseman John Bisco. Moravian finished off the scoring with an inside-the-park home run by Cline with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. The homer was the 14th of Cline's career, moving him into second all-time at Moravian. The Greyhounds had eight hits in the game including the two homers by Cline. Moravian earned a 9-7 victory over Neumann College in a non-conference game at Gillespie Field. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. With two on and no outs, sophomore second baseman John Bisco laid down a sacrifice bunt, and a throwing error by Neumann allowed freshman shortstop Kevin Gambrino to score from second base. Junior shortstop Pete Moore drove in the other two runs with a two-RBI double to score sophomore outfielder Josh Baltz and freshman outfielder Joseph Durso. The Greyhounds earned a 20-16 victory over the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford in seven innings. The game was shortened due to Moravian needing to leave to make a plane flight back to Pennsylvania. NCAA rules do not allow single games to e less than nine innings unless shortened by weather; however, the NCAA ruled that due to Moravian needing to make its flight home and that the intent was to play a full nine innings, the game and statistics count. The game also had several delays for wind and dust blowing so hard that the players couldn't see. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by senior first baseman Richie Cline that scored sophomore outfielder Josh Baltz and a two-RBI double by junior catcher Colin Welles that scored junior shortstop Pete Moore and Cline. Moravian added a run in the top of the second inning on an RBI single by Baltz to score freshman third baseman Matthew McCarthy to extend the lead to 4-0. The Panthers scored a run in the bottom of the second to pull within 4-1. The Greyhounds responded with six runs in the top of the third inning. McCarthy and Baltz had RBI singles before Moore hit a grand slam. Pitt-Bradford scored twice in the bottom of the third to cut Moravian's lead to 10-3, but the Greyhounds would get one of those runs back in the top of the fourth inning on a solo homer by Welles.
