The Greyhounds had their 2002-03 season ended with a 79-59 loss to Franklin & Marshall College in the 2003 Eastern Conference Athletic Conference Southern Championship Quarterfinals. Moravian was the number eight seed in the tournament while the Diplomats were the tournament's top seed and will host the semifinals and finals. The game was close for the first 16 minutes with Franklin & Marshall holding a 26-24 lead but the Diplomats finished the first half on a 12-2 run to take a 38-26 halftime lead. Moravian was knocked out of the Commonwealth Conference playoffs with a 71-62 loss to defending Commonwealth Champion Elizabethtown College in the Commonwealth Conference semifinals. The Greyhounds, who were making their first postseason appearance since the 1996-97 season, had a 35-32 halftime lead but let it slip away early in the second half. The Blue Jays won the game in the second half at the free throw line where Elizabethtown made 12 of 15 attempts in the game's final 20 minutes while Moravian connected on just three of seven second half attempts. For the game, Elizabethtown made 20 of 27 free throws while the Greyhounds were just 12 of 17. Both teams had 23 field goals, and the Blue Jays had five three-pointers to Moravian's four. Moravian shot 58.1 percent (25 of 43) while the Pioneers connected on 57.1 percent (24 of 42). Moravian went on a 17-0 run to end the first half to take the lead but Moravian wouldn't score for the first 5:58 of the second half, allowing the Mules to make a 13-0 run and take a 40-35 lead. The Greyhounds tied the score on a technical foul free throw with 10:38 remaining in the game and then gradually pulled away throughout the remainder of the contest. Moravian shot 42.6 percent (20 of 47) from the floor but put the game away at the free throw line where the team was 16 of 20 in the second half and 22 of 29 (76 percent) for the game. Moravian rallied from a 12-point first half deficit to earn a 76-67 overtime victory at Swarthmore College in non-conference action. The Greyhounds trailed 10-0 before scoring their first basket 5:05 into the contest and the squad was behind 16-4 before cutting the Garnet Tide's halftime lead to 26-23. Moravian and Swarthmore would trade the lead in the second half with the Greyhounds' largest advantage four points and Swarthmore's biggest lead five points. Moravian got off to an awful start in the game. The Greyhounds missed their first 13 shots in the contest, falling behind 10-0 and 16-2 before pulling within 22-20 with 5:45 remaining in the first half on a dunk by sophomore forward Brandon Zaleski. Moravian fell to rival Muhlenberg College, 60-53, in the championship game of the 25th Annual Greyhound Rock Classic. This was the 11th time the two schools have met in the championship game of the tournament with Mules winning five of the 11 games including the last two. The Greyhounds led most of the first half until the Mules took a 24-22 lead with 1:36 before halftime. Moravian got within one point at 39-38 with 8:33 left in the game but Muhlenberg pulled away late in the contest. The Greyhounds were plagued by poor shooting in the game as Moravian hit just 29.8 percent of its field goal attempts (17 of 57) while hitting just 18.2 percent of its three-pointers (2 of 11). Sophomore forward Brandon Zaleski, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, led the Greyhounds in scoring with 14 points. Senior forward Ken Greb, who was also on the All-Tournament Team, had a double-double with ten points and a game high 12 rebounds and Greb added four assists. Senior guard Willie Reynolds tossed in nine points while junior guard Kevin Wyers netted seven points off the bench.

Vs. Connecticut College in 25th Annual Greyhound Rock Classic - Won 71-54 Boxscore
The Greyhounds moved into the championship game of their own tournament with a 71-54 victory over Connecticut College in the first round of the 25th Annual Greyhound Rock Classic. Moravian was ahead 30-20 at halftime and kept its lead throughout the second half. Junior guard Steve Weiler paced the squad with a game high 17 points while sophomore forward Brandon Zaleski tossed in 13 points. Senior forward Ken Greb and junior guard Kevin Wyers both had nine points while freshman guard Chris Betley had six points off the bench. Junior guard Lucas Malishchak dished out a team high six assists in the game while Weiler had five assists. Greb led the squad with four steals and he also grabbed a team high ten rebounds to lead Moravian to a 44-34 advantage on the boards. Zaleski contributed eight rebounds while Weiler and Wyers each had five boards.

At The College of New Jersey - Lost 79-77 (overtime) Boxscore
Moravian had its four-game winning streak snapped by a 79-77 overtime loss at The College of New Jersey in non-conference action. The Greyhounds trailed 73-70 near the end of regulation when junior guard Steve Weiler drilled a three-pointer from the right side of the court with 2.5 seconds remaining to tie the score at 73-73. Moravian had a chance to win the game in regulation but sophomore forward Brandon Zaleski had his short jumper blocked at the buzzer. In overtime, Moravian was down 79-77 when the team took possession of the ball with 12 seconds left to play. Senior forward Ken Greb had a pair of short jumpers in the final four seconds of overtime but both hit the rim and bounced out. The Greyhounds trailed 37-36 at halftime despite shooting 51.7 percent (15 of 29) from the floor in the first half. The second half of the game was a series of runs by each team going on a 10-0 run during the half. Zaleski led a trio of Greyhounds in double figures with 23 points. Greb tossed in 21 points while Weiler netted 18 points. The trio combined for 39 of Moravian's 41 points after the intermisson. Freshman forward Geoff Wendel had six points off the bench while junior guard Kevin Wyers had five points. The Greyhounds had a 42-34 advantage on the boards with Greb, Weiler, Zaleski and Wyers each grabbing seven rebounds. Junior guard Lucas Malishchak led Moravian with five assists and three steals in the game.

The Greyhounds played for the first time in a month and the squad earned its fourth straight victory with a 64-57 victory over Delaware Valley College in non-conference action. Moravian trailed 25-22 at halftime after shooting just 25 percent in the first half. The Aggies built their lead to 33-25 with 16:41 remaining in the contest before Moravian went on a 21-4 run over the next seven and a half minutes to take control of the game. Moravian shot 63 percent in the second half, making 12 of 19 field goal attempts. Another key for the Greyhounds was their foul shooting in the second half. Moravian, which led the nation in free throw percentage last season was 24 of 29 from the charity stripe in the game including 15 of 18 in the second half. The Greyhounds were ten-for-ten from the foul line in the game's final two and a half minutes. Junior guard Steve Weiler led the Greyhounds' balanced scoring attack with 16 points. Sophomore forward Brandon Zaleski had 14 points while freshman forward Geoff Wendel netted a career high 13 points. The trio were the only three Greyhounds to score in the first half. Seniors forward Ken Greb and guard Willie Reynolds each tossed in six points in the victory. Moravian had a 37-24 advantage on the boards with Zaleski pulling down a game high 12 boards. Greb added six rebounds, three blocked shots and three assists while junior guard Lucas Malishchak had three assists.

Moravian won its third straight game and moved to 5-1 on the season with an 87-55 victory over Drew University in non-conference action. The game was the Greyhounds final contest before a month long break for the holidays. Moravian jumped out to a 42-22 halftime lead and never looked back as the squad shot 50 percent (28 of 56) in the game. The Greyhounds had 11 of 13 players net at least one point in the game with three in double figures. Junior guards Steve Weiler and Kevin Wyers both scored 19 points in the game with Weiler added three steals and three rebounds and Wyers, whose 19 points were a career high, had a team high eight rebounds and three steals. Weiler and Wyers both connected on three three-pointers in the victory. Senior forward Ken Greb tallied 12 points and he pulled down five rebounds as Moravian had a 41-32 advantage on the boards. Senior guard Willie Reynolds had nine points while sophomore forward Brandon Zaleski contributed seven points and four rebounds. Freshman guard Zach Zsilavecz also had seven points in the contest while freshman guard Steve Wenderfer tossed in five points. Junior guard Kevin Burke dished out a team high four assists. The Greyhounds will return to action on Tuesday, January 7th.

The Greyhounds won their second straight Commonwealth Conference game, topping Lebanon Valley College, 85-81. Moravian jumped out to a 53-36 halftime lead by shooting 70.8 percent (17 of 24) from the floor and 71.4 percent (5 of 7) behind the three-point line. Senior forward Ken Greb and sophomore forward Brandon Zaleski led the Greyhounds in scoring with 22 points each. Greb, who tied his career high with 22 points, was five of eight from the floor and 12 of 13 at the charity stripe while Zaleski was seven of ten from the field and a perfect seven of seven at the free throw line. Junior guard Steve Weiler also scored in double figures, netting 16 points. Weiler and junior guard Kevin Wyers led Moravian on the glass with both players pulling down four rebounds. Wyers added nine points and three assists. Junior guard Lucas Malishchak had seven assists while senior guard Willie Reynolds added five assists and five points. Lebanon Valley outscored the Greyhounds by 13 points in the second half and the Flying Dutchmen held a 35-19 advantage on the boards.

The Greyhounds suffered their first loss of the 2002-03 season in their home opener, falling to local rival DeSales University, 73-63, in non-conference action. Moravian shot 53 percent (9 of 17) in the first half of the game but still trailed by four points, 31-27, at halftime. The Bulldogs shot 57 percent in the second half while Moravian, which trailed by as many as nine points in the second half, shot just 33 percent (11 of 33). The Greyhounds closed within one point with 4:06 to play but DeSales went on a 16-7 run to finish the game. Sophomore forward Brandon Zaleski led four Greyhounds in double figures with 17 points. Zaleski also had five rebounds while senior forward Ken Greb led the team with six rebounds in his first game of the season. Greb and senior guard Willie Reynolds both scored 15 points with Reynolds shooting a perfect eight-of-eight at the foul line. Junior guard Steve Weiler netted ten points while dishing out four assists. Freshman forward Steve Wenderfer scored six points while junior guard Lucas Malishchak had seven assists and four rebounds. The victory by DeSales was the first by the road team in six years in the annual series.

Zaleski had his second straight double-double, pulling down a game high ten rebounds. reynolds had nine points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals in the game while Weiler had three assists and three boards. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 36-29 haltime lead after shooting 54 percent from the floor in the first half.
