Moravian closed out the 2003-04 season with an 85-77 loss to Elizabethtown College in Commonwealth Conference action. The Greyhounds lost their third straight contest, falling to Albright College, 80-72, in Commonwealth Conference action. Moravian, which trailed by just one point at the half, 35-34, couldn't overcome the Lions hot shooting in the second half. Albright made 18 of 29 field goals (62.1 percent) and eight of 16 free throws after the intermission while Moravian connected on 16 of 32 field goals (50 percent) and both of its free throw attempts. The biggest advantage the Lions had in the game was from the foul line where Albright made 14 of 25 attempts while Moravian attempted just seven foul shots, making six of them. Albright finished the game connecting on 32 of 57 field goal attempts (56.1 percent) and two of six on three-pointers. The Lions also had a 39-34 advantage on the boards. The Greyhounds led at halftime, 35-33, after shooting 41.2 percent (14 of 34) from the floor. Moravian had a 49-46 lead with 13:19 remaining in the second half but the Greyhounds would go scoreless for the next seven minutes as Messiah scored 18 straight points to take a 64-49 lead at the 6:34 mark. Moravian would pull within 67-64 with 2:41 to play but the Falcons would put the game away in the final minute at the foul line. The Falcons made 17 of 26 field goal attempts (65.4 percent) in the second half while the Greyhounds made just 10 of 27 field goals (37 percent). Moravian rallied to earn a 105-93, triple overtime victory at Juniata College in Commonwealth Conference action. The Greyhounds had a 31-29 halftime lead after trailing by as many as seven points, 18-11, with 8:12 left until the intermission. Moravian would build its lead to 37-31 at the 18:26 mark of the second half before Juniata went on a 28-10 run, taking a 59-47 lead with just 6:54 remaining in regulation. The Greyhounds responded with a 22-10 run to tie the game at 69-69 on a three-pointer by senior guard Lucas Malishchak with two seconds remaining in the second half. Juniata would lead by five points in the first overtime session but Moravian would force a second overtime after the teams were tied at 79-79 after five minutes. The second overtime session would see each team score just seven points to force a third overtime at 86-86. Moravian would put the game away in the third overtime at the foul line as the Greyhounds made 11 of 14 free throws in the third extra session to out score the Eagles, 19-7. Moravian won its first Commonwealth Conference game of the season, defeating conference preseason favorite Susquehanna University, 74-72, in Selinsgrove. The victory snapped a four-game losing streak by the Greyhounds. The game was tied 38-38 at halftime with the Crusaders leading early at 18-9 with 14:00 minutes remaining in the the first half. Moravian would lead by as many as six points in the first half as well, with a 34-28 lead with 4:44 left before halftime. In the second half, the Greyhounds led by six points twice with a 49-43 lead at 16:05 and a 54-48 lead with 14:01 remaining in the game. Susquehanna fought back to take a 59-58 advantage at the 10:29 mark left in the game. The Crusaders largest lead would be 72-68 with 1:24 remaining. Moravian would keep Susquehanna scoreless the rest of the contest. The Greyhounds would close to 72-71 with one minute left on the seventh three-pointer of the game by senior guard Steve Weiler. Weiler would tie the contest with 8.3 seconds remaining on a free throw. He would miss the second foul shot but Moravian sophomore forward Steve Wenderfer grabbed the rebound and passed to sophomore guard Chris Betley for a three-point attempt. Betley's shot came up short, however, Weiler grabbed the ball and scored on a lay-up with 1.8 seconds remaining for the win. The Greyhounds shot 45 percent (27 of 60) from the field and 52.2 percent (12 of 23) behind the three-point arc. Moravian did make eight of 11 free throws (72.7 percent). Susquehanna actually out-shot the Greyhounds from the field, making 50 percent (29 of 58) of its field goals, however, the Crusaders made just six of 17 three-pointers. Due to inclement weather and poor travel conditions, the Moravian at Elizabethtown College Commonwealth Conference game for Tuesday, January 27th has been postponed one day to Wednesday, January 28th at 8:00 p.m. in Elizabethtown. The junior varsity game has been cancelled and the men's contest will now be part of a doubleheader with the women's team.

Moravian had a 66-51 lead with 5:15 left in he game, but the Greyhounds couldn't hold on in a 75-70 loss to Messiah College in Commonwealth Conference action. The loss was the third straight for the Greyhounds and dropped the squad 0-6 in conference action this year. Moravian led most of the first half, enjoying a 35-30 halftime lead. The two squads were tied at 38-38 with 16:56 remaining in the second half before the Greyhounds went on a 14-4 run to take a 52-42 lead with 11:31 left in the game. Moravian would get its biggest lead of 66-51 on back-to-back three-pointers by senior guard Steve Weiler. However, the Greyhounds scored just four points over the last 5:15 as the Falcons went on a 24-4 run for the victory. Messiah was nine-of-ten at the foul line during the run while Moravian was 0-2 at the foul line in the final five minutes. The Greyhounds used a 22-4 run over the final seven minutes of the game to rally from a 42-38 deficit for a 60-46 victory over Roger Williams University in the Championship game of the 22nd Annual Scotty Wood Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College. The two schools were tied at 23-23 at halftime before Moravian jumped out to a 28-23 lead. The second basket of the half, a lay-up by junior forward Brandon Zaleski, was his 15th point of the game, giving him exactly 1,000 points for his career. Zaleski, who was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, finished the evening with a game-high 26 points to go with six rebounds and four steals. Roger Williams took a 39-34 lead with 11:46 to play in the game but the Hawks would not score another field goal until 33 seconds remained in the contest. The Greyhounds shot 53.3 percent (16 of 30) from the floor in the second half including four of eight on three-pointers after making just 28.1 percent (nine of 32) in the first half.
