Moravian, which dropped its fifth straight game, finishes the season with an overall record of 7-18 and a 5-9 slate in the Commonwealth Conference. Elizabethtown jumped out to a 46-30 halftime lead after shooting 16 of 31 (51.6 percent) from the floor. The Blue Jays were also six of 14 on three-pointers and eight of 11 on free throws in the first half while committing just five turnovers. Moravian made ten of 27 field goal attempts (37 percent) in the first 20 minutes with two three-pointers and an eight for nine performance at the foul line. Moravian was forced into ten turnovers in the first half by the Blue Jays. Elizabethtown continued its hot shooting in the second half, making 14 of 26 field goal attempts (53.8 percent) to go with three three-pointers and a five of seven performance from the foul line. The Greyhounds made ten of 26 field goals (38.5 percent) in the second half with four three-pointers and a nine of 17 performance at the foul line. Moravian did have a 39-28 advantage on the boards in the contest. The Greyhounds had three players in double figures led by junior guard Ed Reid, who tied his career high with 14 points. Reid also had four rebounds and two assists. Senior forward Brandon Zaleski netted 13 points and added a team high eight rebounds in his final career game. Zaleski ends his career as the all-time leading scorer in Moravian men's basketball history with 1,891 points, and he completes his four seasons with the Greyhounds ranked fourth in career rebounds with 723 boards. Junior forward Steve Wenderfer contributed ten points, six rebounds and two steals for Moravian. Sophomore guard Michael Clemente added six points and four rebounds while junior guard Chris Betley tallied five points as did freshman guard Justin Chestnut. Jon Connor led Elizabethtown with 22 points while Kyle Conrad had 12 points for the Blue Jays. Andrew Flynn and Brian Schreiber each tossed in 11 points while Dan Keane grabbed a team high seven rebounds for Elizabethtown.

Moravian was eliminated for any chance for a berth in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament with an 81-70 loss at Messiah College. The loss was the Greyhounds' fourth straight defeat and dropped the team to 5-8 in Commonwealth Conference action. The game was tied, 41-41, at halftime after both teams had outstanding shooting performances in the first half. Moravian made 13 of 26 field goal attempts (50 percent) in the first 20 minutes with four three-pointers and an 11 of 13 performance at the foul line. The Falcons were 15 of 29 from the floor in the first half (51.7 percent) with four three-pointers and a nine of 12 performance at the charity stripe. The game was close for the first half of the second half before Messiah pulled away. The Falcons were 13 of 29 from the field (44.9 percent) in the second half with two three-pointers and 12 of 15 free throw attempts. Moravian made just ten of 27 second half field goals (37 percent) with four three-pointers and a four for nine performance at the foul line. Messiah dominated the boards in the game, out-rebounding Moravian 43 to 21. The Greyhounds placed three players in double figures led by junior forward Steve Wenderfer's 18 points. Senior forward Brandon Zaleski became Moravian's all-time leading scorer with 21 points to increase his career total to 1,867, surpassing Dick Kosman's '63 record of 1,865 points, however, it wasn't enough as the Greyhounds had their chances for a berth in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament take a hit in a Commonwealth loss to Albright College, 83-65. Zaleski broke the record on a free throw with 13:44 remaining in the game, his 12th made free throw of the contest. Moravian scored the first three points of the game but the Lions took the lead for good at the 17:17 mark at 4-3. Albright would extended the lead to 53-25 at halftime after shooting 63.3 percent (19 of 30) from the field in the first 20 minutes with six three-pointers and a nine of 12 performance at the foul line. The Greyhounds made just six of 19 field goal attempts (31.6 percent) in the first half with one three-pointer and 12 of 15 free throws (80.0 percent). Moravian actually out-scored the Lions in the second half, 40-30, but Albright shot 60.0 percent (nine of 15) from the field and 11 of 17 at the foul line to maintain its double-digit lead. Moravian connected on 15 of 36 field goal attempts (41.7 percent) after the intermission with three three-pointers and a seven of 15 performance at the foul line. Moravian did have a 33-30 advantage on the boards. Zaleski had nine rebounds and three steals to go along with his game-high 21 points including a 13 of 14 performance at the foul line. Freshman Greg Jones dished out a career high three assists for Moravian. Albright had a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures led by 13 points from Trevor Deeter, who also had six rebounds. Moravian suffered another setback in the team's run at a Commonwealth Conference Tournament berth, falling to Messiah College, 77-71, in Commonwealth action. The loss drops Moravian to 5-6 in conference play with three games to play. The Greyhounds likely will need to win all three road games in the final week of the season to make the postseason. The teams would trade the lead for the first few minutes of the game with the game tied at 6-6 at the 16:43 mark of the first half. The Greyhounds went on a 9-0 run to take at 15-6 lead with 15:07 left in the first half. Moravian would hold the lead for the remainder of the first half with Messiah cutting the deficit back to one point at 25-24 with 7:53 before the intermission. The Greyhounds improve to 5-4 in conference play with the victory, which was their third straight Commonwealth win in Johnston Hall. Moravian jumped out to an early lead and would trail the Eagles just twice in the game with Juniata's final lead of 23-21 with 8:30 remaining in the first half. The Greyhounds finished the first 20 minutes with a 21-9 run for a 42-32 halftime lead. Moravian shot 48.1 percent (13 of 27) from the floor in the first half including four of eight behind the three-point line, and the Greyhounds were 12 of 15 from the charity stripe (80 percent). Moravian committed just six turnovers in the first half while forcing Juniata into 11 turnovers. The Eagles also shot 46.4 percent (13 of 28) from the field with two three-pointers and four free throws. Moravian fought back and closed the game to 32-28 with 33 seconds remaining in the half before the Pioneers scored for a 35-28 halftime lead. Moravian won its second straight game in come-from-behind fashion and improved to 4-3 in the Commonwealth Conference with a 75-73 victory over Susquehanna University in a Commonwealth contest in Johnston Hall. Moravian scored the first bucket of the game but the Crusaders would lead 4-3 before Moravian took the lead for an eight minute stretch. The Greyhounds would lead by as many as five points at 17-12 but Susquehanna responded to take a 20-19 lead with 9:05 remaining in the first half. The teams would trade the lead back-and-forth the rest of the half with neither team taking more than a three-point lead. Susquehanna held a slim 37-34 lead at the intermission after shooting 40.6 percent (13 of 32) from the floor with a six of 13 performance behind the three-point line and a five of seven showing at the charity stripe. Moravian, which committed 12 first half turnovers to Susquehanna's nine, made ten of 24 field goal attempts (41.7 percent) in the first half with four three-pointers and a ten for 13 performance at the foul line. In the second half, Susquehanna would lead 44-40 with 17:14 remaining before the Greyhounds tied the contest at 44-44. The game was also tied at 46-46 with 15:11 to go but a 6-0 Susquehanna run gave the Crusaders at 52-46 lead. Moravian answered with a 7-0 run to take a 53-52 lead at the 11:28 mark but Susquehanna came right back for a 60-55 lead with 9:04 remaining. The Greyhounds tied the game again at 62-62 with 6:50 remaining. Susquehanna took its final lead of 67-64 with 4:40 left in the game while Moravian would take the lead for good on a lay-up by junior forward Steve Wenderfer at 3:51, giving the Greyhounds a 68-67 lead. Susquehanna shot 63.6 percent (14 of 22) from the floor in the second half with five three-pointers, but the Crusaders were just three of five from the foul line after the intermission. In contrast, the Greyhounds connected on 13 of 15 second half free throws (86.7 percent) while shooting 41.9 percent (13 of 31) from the floor with two three-pointers. Senior forward Brandon Zaleski led the Greyhounds in scoring with a game high 24 points including a 12-for-12 performance at the foul line. The Greyhounds snapped a five-game losing streak and a three-game skid in Commonwealth Conference action with an 85-82 overtime victory versus Elizabethtown College. Moravian held a brief 2-0 lead at the 18:04 mark before Elizabethtown took an 8-4 lead. The Greyhounds would rally for an 11-8 lead at the 15:25 mark before the Blue Jays charged ahead for a 19-13 lead with 10:43 remaining in the first half. Moravian would come back to tie the game at 19-19 with 7:39 remaining in the first 20 minutes but Elizabethtown finished the half with a 21-8 run to take a 40-27 lead into halftime. The Blue Jays made 15 of 31 field goal attempts (48.4 percent) in the first half including six of 17 three-pointers while shooting four of five at the foul line. The Greyhounds, who committed 12 turnovers in the first half, made just nine of 32 field goal attempts (32.1 percent) in the first 20 minutes including just two of 12 three-pointers while shooting seven of eight from the foul line. Elizabethtown kept its double-digit lead off and on for the first seven minutes of the second half, leading by as many as 14 points, 56-42 with 13:53 left in regulation. Moravian would start its comeback at that point and slowly pulled even at 72-72 with 1:06 remaining in regulation on a three-pointer by junior forward Zach Zsilavecz. In the final 1:02 of the game, Moravian was one of two at the foul line while the Blue Jays connected on just one of four free throw attempts, setting the score at 73-73 and forcing the overtime session. The Lions sprinted out to a 9-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game and never trailed. The closest Moravian would get in the first half was four points on three different occasions. Moravian shot 41.4 percent (12 of 29) from the floor in the first half with four three-pointers and a two of five performance at the foul line. The Greyhounds committed just five turnovers in the first half while Albright had ten turnovers while shooting 50 percent (13 of 26) from the floor and 73.3 percent (11 of 15) at the foul line. In the second half, the Lions maintained the lead the entire half with the closest Moravian getting was three points at 39-36 with 17:52 left in the contest. Albright would extend its lead to double digits when the Greyhounds went through a six minute scoring drought in the middle of the half. Moravian jumped out to an early lead and was ahead, 18-16, with 10:31 left in the first half but the Flying Dutchmen would eventually pull away for a 38-30 halftime lead. Lebanon Valley shot 53.3 percent (16 of 30) in the first 20 minutes while Moravian made just 11 of 29 field goals (37.9 percent) with two three-pointers and six of eight free throws. The Flying Dutchmen continued their hot shooting in the second half, making 13 of 24 field goals (54.2 percent) with four three-pointers and 13 of 16 free throws, while the Greyhounds shooting woes continued after the intermission with Moravian making just 11 of 35 field goals (31.4 percent) in the second half with two three-pointers and 12 of 14 free throws. Moravian suffered its second straight loss, falling to Gwynedd-Mercy College, 85-75, in the consolation game of the 27th Annual Starters Greyhound Classic. The Greyhounds had rallied from a nine-point deficit with 13:14 remaining in the first half to take a 43-41 halftime lead on tip-in by freshman forward Chris Earley as time expired in the half. Moravian shot 41.2 percent from the floor (14 of 34) in the first half with three three-pointers and 12 of 15 free throws. The Greyhounds only had six turnovers in the first half but the Griffins shot 52.8 percent (19 of 36) from the field. Moravian jumped out to a 49-43 lead with 18:11 left in the game but Gwynedd-Mercy fought back, taking its first lead of the second half at 54-53 with 12:50 remaining. The game stayed close the rest of the way with Moravian going on a 6-0 run at one point to regain the lead at 69-68 with 5:07 to play. The Griffins, who out-rebounded Moravian 45 to 28, put the game away at the foul line in the last four minutes, making all ten attempts. Senior forward Brandon Zaleski led three Moravian players in double figures with a game high 21 points. Zaleski, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, also had five rebounds. This was the fourth straight year that Zaleski was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Greyhound Classic. In the championship game, Lincoln University won its first in-season tournament since 1994 with an 82-74 victory over Kean University of New Jersey. Lincoln's Kyle Myrick was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player while Lion teammate Jarett Kearse made the All-Tournament Team. Armet Coles and BJ Hamby of Kean also earned spots on the All-Tournament Team.

The Greyhounds dropped their first game in the 27th Annual Starters Greyhound Classic with a 92-78 loss to Lincoln University. Moravian will face nationally-ranked Gwynedd-Mercy College in the consolation game on Sunday at 1 p.m. after the Griffins were upset by Kean University of New Jersey, 76-64, in the other first round game. The Greyhounds fell behind 16-9 to Lincoln with 12:59 to play in the first half and would trailed by seven points again at the 11:14 mark but a 10-0 run helped Moravian take a 25-22 lead with 9:10 left before the intermission. The teams would seesaw back and forth the rest of the half with the Lions taking a 44-42 halftime advantage. The Greyhounds shot 47 percent (16 of 34) from the floor in the first 20 minutes including four of eight on three-pointers while making six of 11 free throws and committing just four turnovers. However, Lincoln was 19 of 33 in the first half (57.6 percent) with four of nine three-pointers and two of four free throws. The Lions started the second half with a 9-0 run for a 53-42 lead with 18:25 remaining in the game. The closest Moravian would get the rest of the contest would be four points at 58-54 with 14:23 left. Moravian won its first game back after the semester break with a 70-68 non-conference victory at Delaware Valley College. The Greyhounds led by as many as 13 points in the first half and were ahead 36-33 at halftime. Moravian made 11 of 24 field goal attempts (45.8 percent) with three three-pointers and 11 of 16 free throws (68.8 percent). In the second half, Delaware Valley would take a four point lead at 44-40 with 14 minutes remaining in the game. The teams would go back and forth for the remainder of the game. The contest had 61 fouls, 46 turnovers, ten ties and eight lead changes including three lead changes and two ties in the final 25 seconds. The Aggies led 64-63 heading into the final minute when Moravian freshman guard Justin Chestnut stole the ball and drove in for a lay-up and was fouled. Chestnut made the free throw for a 66-64 Greyhound lead with 25 seconds to play. Delaware Valley's Randall Graves tied the game with 19 seconds remaining on a driving lay-up. Chestnut would give Moravian the lead back four seconds later on a pair of free throws. Graves would pull the Aggies even at 68-68 with a pair of free throws with 10.1 seconds remaining. Moravian junior forward Steve Wenderfer won the game for the Greyhounds with a lay-up with just 0.8 seconds remaining on the clock. Moravian, which committed 33 fouls in the game, shot 41.2 percent (21 of 51) from the field during the game with just three three-pointers. The Greyhounds, who also committed 26 turnovers in the victory, made 25 of 37 free throw attempts (67.6 percent) in the win. Chestnut led Moravian with a career high 17 points while Wenderfer added 14 points and a team high nine rebounds. Chestnut added four rebounds and three steals. Moravian jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the game's first three minutes and led 11-6 with 14:14 remaining in the first half before the Leopards went on a 17-0 run, taking the lead for good. Moravian pulled back within six points at 23-17 with 7:14 remaining before halftime but Lafayette would pull ahead 37-26 at the break. The Greyhounds shot just 22 percent (seven of 32) in the first half, making two of 13 three-pointers and ten of 11 free throws. Lafayette made 14 of 30 first half field goals (46.7 percent), going four of eight behind the three-point line and five of six at the foul line. The Greyhounds improved to 2-0 on the year in Commonwealth Conference action and won their second straight game, earning an 86-79 victory at Susquehanna University in Commonwealth action. The victory helped Moravian equal its win total of two in Commonwealth Conference action from all of last season in just two contests this year. Moravian jumped out to a 42-39 halftime lead after shooting 51.6 percent from the floor (16 of 31) in the first 20 minutes and adding three three-pointers and seven of ten free throws. The Crusaders also shot well in the first half, making 13 of 25 field goals (52 percent) with six three pointers and a seven-of-eight performance at the foul line. Moravian won its first game of the season, defeating Widener University, 94-91 in overtime, in the 2004-05 Commonwealth Conference season opener for both schools. The victory snaps an eight-game losing streak for the Greyhounds dating back to last season and is Moravian's first win versus the Pioneers since February 9, 1998, a span of 12 straight wins for Widener. The game was close the entire way with neither team ever pulling to far ahead. In the first half, Widener held an early 3-2 lead before the Greyhounds jumped in front. Moravian would lead until the final seconds of the first half, building an eight-point lead twice with the final time at 40-32 with 3:17 in the half, however, Widener scored the final six points before intermission to knot the score at 42-42. In the game's first 20 minutes, Moravian connected on 19 of 34 field goal attempts (55.9 percent) with three three-pointers while the Pioneers made 16 of 35 field goals (45.7 percent) with three three-pointers and a seven-of-eight performance at the foul line. When the second half started, Widener took a brief 46-45 lead and the score would be tied at 50-50 before Moravian went on a 12-2 run for the largest lead of the game by either team at 62-52 with 15:12 remaining in regulation. The Pioneers pulled back ahead with 7:28 remaining at 70-69, but Moravian responded for a 73-70 lead. The Greyhounds suffered their fourth loss of the season, falling to local rival Muhlenberg College, 74-61, in non-conference action. Moravian trailed 9-0 before scoring in the game, and the Greyhounds were behind 41-23 at halftime. Moravian shot just ten of 29 (34.5 percent) in the first half while the Mules made 17 of 34 field goal attempts (50 percent) including six of 14 three-pointers (42.9 percent). In the second half, the Greyhounds would shot 62.5 percent (15 of 24) but the Mules made another 14 of 28 field goals (50 percent) and maintained at least a ten-point lead the entire half. The closest Moravian would get was at 55-45 with 10:13 remaining on a lay-up by senior forward Brandon Zaleski. During the first half, Zaleski became the fifth player in Moravian history to reach 1,500 points on a free throw with 8:35 remaining in the half. Two minutes later, Zaleski hit a jumper to move into fourth all-time in scoring. He currently has 1,512 points after scoring a game-high 22 points versus the Mules. Junior forward Ed Reid and sophomore guard Michael Clemente each netted six points while freshman guard Ryan Miller dished out four assists. Sophomore forward Matt Devlin grabbed four rebounds for the Greyhounds while freshman forward Chris Earley had three rebounds.
