The Greyhounds closed out their 2004-05 season with an 82-63 loss at
Elizabethtown College in Commonwealth Conference action. Moravian, which
dropped its fifth straight game, finishes the season with an overall
record of 7-18 and a 5-9 slate in the Commonwealth Conference. Elizabethtown
jumped out to a 46-30 halftime lead after shooting 16 of 31 (51.6 percent)
from the floor. The Blue Jays were also six of 14 on three-pointers
and eight of 11 on free throws in the first half while committing just
five turnovers. Moravian made ten of 27 field goal attempts (37 percent)
in the first 20 minutes with two three-pointers and an eight for nine
performance at the foul line. Moravian was forced into ten turnovers
in the first half by the Blue Jays. Elizabethtown continued its hot
shooting in the second half, making 14 of 26 field goal attempts (53.8
percent) to go with three three-pointers and a five of seven performance
from the foul line. The Greyhounds made ten of 26 field goals (38.5
percent) in the second half with four three-pointers and a nine of 17
performance at the foul line. Moravian did have a 39-28 advantage on
the boards in the contest. The Greyhounds had three players in double
figures led by junior guard Ed Reid, who tied his career high with 14
points. Reid also had four rebounds and two assists. Senior forward
Brandon Zaleski netted 13 points and added a team high eight rebounds
in his final career game. Zaleski ends his career as the all-time leading
scorer in Moravian men's basketball history with 1,891 points, and he
completes his four seasons with the Greyhounds ranked fourth in career
rebounds with 723 boards. Junior forward Steve Wenderfer contributed
ten points, six rebounds and two steals for Moravian. Sophomore guard
Michael Clemente added six points and four rebounds while junior guard
Chris Betley tallied five points as did freshman guard Justin Chestnut.
Jon Connor led Elizabethtown with 22 points while Kyle Conrad had 12
points for the Blue Jays. Andrew Flynn and Brian Schreiber each tossed
in 11 points while Dan Keane grabbed a team high seven rebounds for
Elizabethtown.

Moravian was eliminated for any chance for a berth in the Commonwealth
Conference Tournament with an 81-70 loss at Messiah College. The loss
was the Greyhounds' fourth straight defeat and dropped the team to 5-8
in Commonwealth Conference action. The game was tied, 41-41, at halftime
after both teams had outstanding shooting performances in the first
half. Moravian made 13 of 26 field goal attempts (50 percent) in the
first 20 minutes with four three-pointers and an 11 of 13 performance
at the foul line. The Falcons were 15 of 29 from the floor in the first
half (51.7 percent) with four three-pointers and a nine of 12 performance
at the charity stripe. The game was close for the first half of the
second half before Messiah pulled away. The Falcons were 13 of 29 from
the field (44.9 percent) in the second half with two three-pointers
and 12 of 15 free throw attempts. Moravian made just ten of 27 second
half field goals (37 percent) with four three-pointers and a four for
nine performance at the foul line. Messiah dominated the boards in the
game, out-rebounding Moravian 43 to 21. The Greyhounds placed three
players in double figures led by junior forward Steve Wenderfer's 18
points. Wenderfer also had three rebounds. Junior forward Zach Zsilavecz
added 12 points, three rebounds and two steals while senior forward
Brandon Zaleski had 11 points, a team high four rebounds and two steals.
Zaleski improved his school record career point total to 1,878. Sophomore
guard Michael Clemente and freshman guard Ryan Miller each netted eight
points for Moravian while freshman guard Justin Chestnut had a team
high three assists. Quinn McCullough led Messiah with a game high 26
points to go with six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Dave Carter
added 19 points for the Falcons while David Henninger had 14 points,
ten rebounds and three blocked shots. Zach Wiernicki had 12 points and
seven rebounds in the victory for Messiah.

Senior forward Brandon Zaleski became Moravian's all-time leading scorer
with 21 points to increase his career total to 1,867, surpassing Dick
Kosman's '63 record of 1,865 points, however, it wasn't enough as the
Greyhounds had their chances for a berth in the Commonwealth Conference
Tournament take a hit in a Commonwealth loss to Albright College, 83-65.
Zaleski broke the record on a free throw with 13:44 remaining in the
game, his 12th made free throw of the contest. Moravian scored the first
three points of the game but the Lions took the lead for good at the
17:17 mark at 4-3. Albright would extended the lead to 53-25 at halftime
after shooting 63.3 percent (19 of 30) from the field in the first 20
minutes with six three-pointers and a nine of 12 performance at the
foul line. The Greyhounds made just six of 19 field goal attempts (31.6
percent) in the first half with one three-pointer and 12 of 15 free
throws (80.0 percent). Moravian actually out-scored the Lions in the
second half, 40-30, but Albright shot 60.0 percent (nine of 15) from
the field and 11 of 17 at the foul line to maintain its double-digit
lead. Moravian connected on 15 of 36 field goal attempts (41.7 percent)
after the intermission with three three-pointers and a seven of 15 performance
at the foul line. Moravian did have a 33-30 advantage on the boards.
Zaleski had nine rebounds and three steals to go along with his game-high
21 points including a 13 of 14 performance at the foul line. Junior
forward Steve Wenderfer was the only other Greyhound to score in double
figures with 12 points and five rebounds. Junior forward Zach Zsilavecz,
freshman guard Justin Chestnut and freshman forward Mark Franzyshen
each netted five points for the Greyhounds while freshman guard Ryan
Miller scored four points. Freshman Greg Jones dished out a career high
three assists for Moravian. Albright had a balanced scoring attack with
four players in double figures led by 13 points from Trevor Deeter,
who also had six rebounds. Matt Kieselowsky added 12 points for the
Lions while Elu Lawrence and Ben Gallagher each had 11 points in the
Albright victory.

Moravian suffered another setback in the team's run at a Commonwealth
Conference Tournament berth, falling to Messiah College, 77-71, in Commonwealth
action. The loss drops Moravian to 5-6 in conference play with three
games to play. The Greyhounds likely will need to win all three road
games in the final week of the season to make the postseason. The teams
would trade the lead for the first few minutes of the game with the
game tied at 6-6 at the 16:43 mark of the first half. The Greyhounds
went on a 9-0 run to take at 15-6 lead with 15:07 left in the first
half. Moravian would hold the lead for the remainder of the first half
with Messiah cutting the deficit back to one point at 25-24 with 7:53
before the intermission. The Greyhounds had a 38-34 lead at halftime
after shooting 16 of 29 (55.2 percent) from the floor with four three-pointers
and a two-for-three performance at the foul line. Messiah made 14 of
31 (45.2 percent) first half field goal attempts with four three-pointers
and a two-for-two performance at the foul line. Moravian would extend
its lead to eight points at 45-37 with 16:47 remaining in the game before
Messiah started its comeback. The Falcons went on an 11-3 run to tie
the game at 48-48 with 12:45 left. Messiah took the lead for good on
a free throw by Jared Yoder at the 12:17 mark for a 49-48. Moravian
pulled within three points on several occasions in the final 11 minutes
of the game but could not retake the lead. Messiah made 11 of 26 field

win. Moravian had just two players in double figures led by a game high
23 points by senior forward Brandon Zaleski. Zaleski, who is now within
20 points of becoming the all-time leading scorer in Moravian history,
also had seven rebounds and two assists. Junior forward Steve Wenderfer
added 21 points and a team high eight rebounds to go with two assists
and two steals. Junior guard Ed Reid had nine points and three rebounds
while freshman guard Ryan Miller and sophomore guard Michael Clemente
each scored five points for the Greyhounds. Miller had three assists
while freshman guard Justin Chestnut had six assists and three points
for the Greyhounds. Messiah had a balanced scoring attack led by 18

The Greyhounds suffered a setback in the team's run at a Commonwealth
Conference Tournament berth, falling to Lebanon Valley College, 59-51,
in Commonwealth action. The loss drops Moravian to 5-5 in conference
play and a game out of the playoff hunt. Lebanon Valley jumped out to
a 7-0 lead before the Greyhounds got on the board at the 16:08 mark.
The Flying Dutchmen led 30-13 at halftime after shooting 40.7 percent
(11 of 27) from the field in the first half with three three-pointers
and five of seven free throws. Moravian made just six of 30 field goal
attempts (20.0 percent) with one three-pointer. Both teams committed
seven turnovers in the first half. In the second half, Lebanon Valley
would extend the lead to 19 points at 43-24 with 13:10 left in the game.
The Greyhounds would go on a 14-0 run to pull within 43-38 with 6:31
remaining. Moravian would eventually tie the game at 47-47 with 2:26
remaining in the contest before Lebanon Valley finished the game with

Moravian moved back over the .500 mark in Commonwealth Conference action,
defeating Juniata College, 92-63, in Johnston Hall. The Greyhounds improve
to 5-4 in conference play with the victory, which was their third straight
Commonwealth win in Johnston Hall. Moravian jumped out to an early lead
and would trail the Eagles just twice in the game with Juniata's final
lead of 23-21 with 8:30 remaining in the first half. The Greyhounds
finished the first 20 minutes with a 21-9 run for a 42-32 halftime lead.
Moravian shot 48.1 percent (13 of 27) from the floor in the first half
including four of eight behind the three-point line, and the Greyhounds
were 12 of 15 from the charity stripe (80 percent). Moravian committed
just six turnovers in the first half while forcing Juniata into 11 turnovers.
The Eagles also shot 46.4 percent (13 of 28) from the field with two
three-pointers and four free throws. Moravian's lead never fell below
seven points in the second half, and the Greyhounds had a 20-point lead
or more for the final ten minutes. Moravian made 16 of 31 field goal
attempts (51.5 percent) in the second half with four three-pointers
while connecting on all 14 free throw attempts after the intermission.
Juniata, however, only shot 35.7 percent (ten for 28) from the field
in the second half with five three-pointers and six of ten free throws.
Moravian also had a 37-28 advantage on the boards in the victory. The
Greyhounds had three players in double figures led by senior forward
Brandon Zaleski, who scored a game high 29 points. During the first
half, Zaleski became the second men's basketball player in school history
to surpass 1,800 career points. He currently has 1,818 points, just
48 points shy of the school record. Zaleski, who made his final 17 free
throw attempts after missing his first of the game, also added seven
rebounds and four steals. Junior forward Zach Zsilavecz had 12 points
and four rebounds for the Greyhounds while junior forward Steve Wenderfer
contributed ten points, five rebounds and four assists. Freshman guard
Ryan Miller added eight points, five assists and four rebounds in the
victory while junior guard Ed Reid had eight points for the Greyhounds.
Sophomore guard Michael Clemente contributed seven points to the victory
while junior guard Joe Depasquale, sophomore forward Matt Devlin and
freshman forward Mark Franzyshen each scored four points. Chris Jasiota
led Juniata with 12 points and three rebounds while Aaron Chamberlain
added ten points and three boards for the Eagles.

Conference action. The loss drops Moravian to 4-4 in conference play
this season. The Greyhounds had their only lead of the game at 2-0 before
Widener stormed ahead and took a 12 point lead at 24-12 with 9:21 left
in the first half. Moravian fought back and closed the game to 32-28
with 33 seconds remaining in the half before the Pioneers scored for
a 35-28 halftime lead. Moravian shot just 39.3 percent (11 of 28) from
the field in the first half, and the Greyhounds were six of seven at
the free throw line while committing nine turnovers. Widener connected
on 13 of 27 field goal attempts (48.1 percent) in the first half including
six of ten behind the three-point line and a perfect three-for-three
at the foul line. In the second half, Widener would push its lead to
15 points four times in the half. The Pioneers held a 66-54 lead with
5:14 remaining in the contest before Moravian went on a 10-0 run to
cut the lead to 66-64 with 3:26 to play. However, Widener finished the
game with a 12-2 run for the victory. Moravian shot better in the second
half, making 16 of 30 field goal attempts (53.3 percent) including two
three-pointers and four of five three-pointers. Widener forced Moravian
into 13 turnovers in the second half. The Pioneers made 15 of 26 field

Moravian won its second straight game in come-from-behind fashion and
improved to 4-3 in the Commonwealth Conference with a 75-73 victory
over Susquehanna University in a Commonwealth contest in Johnston Hall.
Moravian scored the first bucket of the game but the Crusaders would
lead 4-3 before Moravian took the lead for an eight minute stretch.
The Greyhounds would lead by as many as five points at 17-12 but Susquehanna
responded to take a 20-19 lead with 9:05 remaining in the first half.
The teams would trade the lead back-and-forth the rest of the half with
neither team taking more than a three-point lead. Susquehanna held a
slim 37-34 lead at the intermission after shooting 40.6 percent (13
of 32) from the floor with a six of 13 performance behind the three-point
line and a five of seven showing at the charity stripe. Moravian, which
committed 12 first half turnovers to Susquehanna's nine, made ten of
24 field goal attempts (41.7 percent) in the first half with four three-pointers
and a ten for 13 performance at the foul line. In the second half, Susquehanna
would lead 44-40 with 17:14 remaining before the Greyhounds tied the
contest at 44-44. The game was also tied at 46-46 with 15:11 to go but
a 6-0 Susquehanna run gave the Crusaders at 52-46 lead. Moravian answered
with a 7-0 run to take a 53-52 lead at the 11:28 mark but Susquehanna
came right back for a 60-55 lead with 9:04 remaining. The Greyhounds
tied the game again at 62-62 with 6:50 remaining. Susquehanna took its
final lead of 67-64 with 4:40 left in the game while Moravian would
take the lead for good on a lay-up by junior forward Steve Wenderfer
at 3:51, giving the Greyhounds a 68-67 lead. Susquehanna shot 63.6 percent
(14 of 22) from the floor in the second half with five three-pointers,
but the Crusaders were just three of five from the foul line after the
intermission. In contrast, the Greyhounds connected on 13 of 15 second
half free throws (86.7 percent) while shooting 41.9 percent (13 of 31)
from the floor with two three-pointers. Senior forward Brandon Zaleski
led the Greyhounds in scoring with a game high 24 points including a
12-for-12 performance at the foul line. Zaleski also had 13 rebounds
for his fourth double-double of the year and first since December 11th.
Wenderfer was the only other Greyhound in double figures with 15 points
to go with five rebounds and two steals. Freshman guard Justin Chestnut
netted nine points for Moravian while adding four rebounds and two assists.
Junior guard Ed Reid tossed in seven points in the victory while junior
forward Zach Zsilavecz, sophomore guard Michael Clemente and freshman
guard Ryan Miller each had five points. Zsilavecz added five rebounds
while Miller had four rebounds and four assists in the win. Mike Malko
led Susquehanna with 22 points to go with three rebounds while Bubba
Mills had a double-double for the Crusaders with 12 points and ten rebounds.
Brad Okonak added ten points off the bench for Susquehanna while Pat
Williams netted eight points for the Crusaders.

The Greyhounds snapped a five-game losing streak and a three-game skid
in Commonwealth Conference action with an 85-82 overtime victory versus
Elizabethtown College. Moravian held a brief 2-0 lead at the 18:04 mark
before Elizabethtown took an 8-4 lead. The Greyhounds would rally for
an 11-8 lead at the 15:25 mark before the Blue Jays charged ahead for
a 19-13 lead with 10:43 remaining in the first half. Moravian would
come back to tie the game at 19-19 with 7:39 remaining in the first
20 minutes but Elizabethtown finished the half with a 21-8 run to take
a 40-27 lead into halftime. The Blue Jays made 15 of 31 field goal attempts
(48.4 percent) in the first half including six of 17 three-pointers
while shooting four of five at the foul line. The Greyhounds, who committed
12 turnovers in the first half, made just nine of 32 field goal attempts
(32.1 percent) in the first 20 minutes including just two of 12 three-pointers
while shooting seven of eight from the foul line. Elizabethtown kept
its double-digit lead off and on for the first seven minutes of the
second half, leading by as many as 14 points, 56-42 with 13:53 left
in regulation. Moravian would start its comeback at that point and slowly
pulled even at 72-72 with 1:06 remaining in regulation on a three-pointer
by junior forward Zach Zsilavecz. In the final 1:02 of the game, Moravian
was one of two at the foul line while the Blue Jays connected on just
one of four free throw attempts, setting the score at 73-73 and forcing
the overtime session. In the second half, the Greyhounds made 16 of
28 field goal attempts (57.1 percent) including four of ten on three-pointers
while shooting ten of 14 at the foul line. Elizabethtown made just 11
of 27 field goals (40.7 percent) in the second half including two of
seven three pointers and just nine of 17 free throws. The charity stripe
was the difference in overtime with Elizabethtown making three of four
free throw attempts in the extra session while the Greyhounds were nine
of 12. The Blue Jays ad the lead twice in overtime at 75-73 and 80-78
but Moravian took the lead for good on a three-pointer by sophomore
guard Michael Clemente, who was making his first career start in the
game, with 42 seconds remaining in overtime. Clemente would set the
final score at 85-82 with a pair of free throws with three seconds remaining.
Moravian, which committed just eight turnovers in the second half and
overtime, had a 40-38 advantage on the boards in the game. The overtime
victory is the second of the season at home for Moravian in Commonwealth
Conference action and pulled the Greyhounds even in conference play
at 3-3. Moravian had four players in double figures led by junior forward
Steve Wenderfer, who scored a game and career high 22 points while pulling
down a game high ten rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.
Zsilavecz added 20 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals
while Clemente tossed in career high 11 points. Senior forward Brandon
Zaleski had 15 points and six rebounds for Moravian to move over the
1,750-point plateau in his career. Freshman guard Ryan Miller had nine
points, four assists, four steals and three rebounds for the Greyhounds
while junior forward Ed Reid contributed five points and five boards.
Sophomore forward Matt Devlin added three points, four blocked shots
and three rebounds in the victory. For Elizabethtown, senior forward
Kyle Conrad had 21 points for the Blue Jays, surpassing the 1,000-point
plateau with 8:48 remaining in regulation on his fourth three-pointer
of the game. Conrad also had four rebounds and three assists for Elizabethtown.
Senior forward Andrew Flynn contributed 15 points, eight rebounds, five
assists and two steals for the Blue Jays while junior forward Brian
Schreiber had nine points and seven rebounds off the bench. Senior forward
Dan Keane and senior guard Jon Connor each had eight points for Elizabethtown
before fouling out of the game in overtime.

Pennsylvania has been postponed due to inclement weather. The game has

The Greyhounds suffered their fifth straight loss and fell to 2-3 in
Commonwealth Conference action, falling to Albright College, 83-67 in
Johnston Hall. The Lions sprinted out to a 9-0 lead in the first three
minutes of the game and never trailed. The closest Moravian would get
in the first half was four points on three different occasions. Moravian
shot 41.4 percent (12 of 29) from the floor in the first half with four
three-pointers and a two of five performance at the foul line. The Greyhounds
committed just five turnovers in the first half while Albright had ten
turnovers while shooting 50 percent (13 of 26) from the floor and 73.3
percent (11 of 15) at the foul line. In the second half, the Lions maintained
the lead the entire half with the closest Moravian getting was three
points at 39-36 with 17:52 left in the contest. Albright would extend

The Greyhounds had the lead several times in the first half including

the half with a 9-3 run to take a 34-29 halftime lead. Moravian shot
45.8 percent (11 of 24) from the field in the first 20 minutes with
a pair of three-pointers and a five of nine performance at the foul
line while Juniata shot just 36.4 percent (12 of 33) with four three-pointers
and a perfect six of six at the charity stripe. The Eagles forced Moravian
into 11 first half turnovers while Juniata only had five turnovers in
the game's first 20 minutes. Juniata ld the entire second half with
the Greyhounds cutting to lead three points three different times in
the first eight minutes of the half before the Eagles pulled away. Juniata
would shoot 61 percent (14 of 23) in the second half while the Greyhounds
made just 11 of 31 second half field goals (35.5 percent). Moravian
did have a 43-22 advantage on the boards in the game. The Greyhounds
had just two players in double figures led by senior forward Brandon

loss to #17 Lebanon Valley College. Moravian jumped out to an early

Flying Dutchmen would eventually pull away for a 38-30 halftime lead.
Lebanon Valley shot 53.3 percent (16 of 30) in the first 20 minutes
while Moravian made just 11 of 29 field goals (37.9 percent) with two
three-pointers and six of eight free throws. The Flying Dutchmen continued
their hot shooting in the second half, making 13 of 24 field goals (54.2
percent) with four three-pointers and 13 of 16 free throws, while the
Greyhounds shooting woes continued after the intermission with Moravian
making just 11 of 35 field goals (31.4 percent) in the second half with
two three-pointers and 12 of 14 free throws. The Greyhounds had four
players score in double figures with senior forward Brandon Zaleski
and freshman guard Ryan Miller each netting 12 points. The 12 points
gave Zaleski 1,701 in his career, just the second player in school history
to reach that milestone while the total was a career high for Miller,

Starters Greyhound Classic Consolation Game - Lost 85-75 Boxscore
Moravian suffered its second straight loss, falling to Gwynedd-Mercy
College, 85-75, in the consolation game of the 27th Annual Starters
Greyhound Classic. The Greyhounds had rallied from a nine-point deficit
with 13:14 remaining in the first half to take a 43-41 halftime lead
on tip-in by freshman forward Chris Earley as time expired in the half.
Moravian shot 41.2 percent from the floor (14 of 34) in the first half
with three three-pointers and 12 of 15 free throws. The Greyhounds only
had six turnovers in the first half but the Griffins shot 52.8 percent
(19 of 36) from the field. Moravian jumped out to a 49-43 lead with
18:11 left in the game but Gwynedd-Mercy fought back, taking its first
lead of the second half at 54-53 with 12:50 remaining. The game stayed
close the rest of the way with Moravian going on a 6-0 run at one point
to regain the lead at 69-68 with 5:07 to play. The Griffins, who out-rebounded
Moravian 45 to 28, put the game away at the foul line in the last four
minutes, making all ten attempts. Senior forward Brandon Zaleski led
three Moravian players in double figures with a game high 21 points.
Zaleski, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, also had five rebounds.
This was the fourth straight year that Zaleski was named to the All-Tournament
Team at the Greyhound Classic. Junior forward Steve Wenderfer added
14 points and eight rebounds while sophomore guard Michael Clemente
tied his career high with ten points, all in the first half. Freshman
guard Ryan Miller and junior guard Chris Betley each added eight points
for the Greyhounds while freshman guard Justin Chestnut had seven points.
Miller dished out three assists while Earley had six points and three
rebounds for Moravian. For Gwynedd-Mercy, senior Badou Gaye was named
to the All-Tournament Team after leading the Griffings with 18 points
and agame high 13 rebounds. Jeff Thomas added 16 points while Chris
DelBrocco had 14 points and Rick Haas added 13 points. In the championship
game, Lincoln University won its first in-season tournament since 1994
with an 82-74 victory over Kean University of New Jersey. Lincoln's
Kyle Myrick was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player while Lion
teammate Jarett Kearse made the All-Tournament Team. Armet Coles and

The Greyhounds dropped their first game in the 27th Annual Starters
Greyhound Classic with a 92-78 loss to Lincoln University. Moravian
will face nationally-ranked Gwynedd-Mercy College in the consolation
game on Sunday at 1 p.m. after the Griffins were upset by Kean University
of New Jersey, 76-64, in the other first round game. The Greyhounds
fell behind 16-9 to Lincoln with 12:59 to play in the first half and
would trailed by seven points again at the 11:14 mark but a 10-0 run
helped Moravian take a 25-22 lead with 9:10 left before the intermission.
The teams would seesaw back and forth the rest of the half with the
Lions taking a 44-42 halftime advantage. The Greyhounds shot 47 percent
(16 of 34) from the floor in the first 20 minutes including four of
eight on three-pointers while making six of 11 free throws and committing
just four turnovers. However, Lincoln was 19 of 33 in the first half
(57.6 percent) with four of nine three-pointers and two of four free
throws. The Lions started the second half with a 9-0 run for a 53-42
lead with 18:25 remaining in the game. The closest Moravian would get
the rest of the contest would be four points at 58-54 with 14:23 left.
Lincoln shot 57 percent from the floor (37 of 65) in the game with eight
of 18 three-pointers and ten of 13 free throws while out-rebounding
Moravian 43-26. The Greyhounds shot 45.3 percent for the game (29 of
64) with seven of 18 on three-point attempts and 13 of 22 at the foul
line. Moravian committed just ten turnovers in the game. The Greyhounds
had four players score in double figures led by senior forward Brandon
Zaleski, who had 21 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocked
shots. Junior guard Ed Reid added 12 points while junior forward Zach
Zsilavecz contributed 11 points. Sophomore guard Michael Clemente scored
a career high ten points for the Greyhounds while junior forward Steve

Moravian won its first game back after the semester break with a 70-68
non-conference victory at Delaware Valley College. The Greyhounds led
by as many as 13 points in the first half and were ahead 36-33 at halftime.
Moravian made 11 of 24 field goal attempts (45.8 percent) with three
three-pointers and 11 of 16 free throws (68.8 percent). In the second
half, Delaware Valley would take a four point lead at 44-40 with 14
minutes remaining in the game. The teams would go back and forth for
the remainder of the game. The contest had 61 fouls, 46 turnovers, ten
ties and eight lead changes including three lead changes and two ties
in the final 25 seconds. The Aggies led 64-63 heading into the final
minute when Moravian freshman guard Justin Chestnut stole the ball and
drove in for a lay-up and was fouled. Chestnut made the free throw for
a 66-64 Greyhound lead with 25 seconds to play. Delaware Valley's Randall
Graves tied the game with 19 seconds remaining on a driving lay-up.
Chestnut would give Moravian the lead back four seconds later on a pair
of free throws. Graves would pull the Aggies even at 68-68 with a pair
of free throws with 10.1 seconds remaining. Moravian junior forward
Steve Wenderfer won the game for the Greyhounds with a lay-up with just
0.8 seconds remaining on the clock. Moravian, which committed 33 fouls
in the game, shot 41.2 percent (21 of 51) from the field during the
game with just three three-pointers. The Greyhounds, who also committed
26 turnovers in the victory, made 25 of 37 free throw attempts (67.6
percent) in the win. Chestnut led Moravian with a career high 17 points
while Wenderfer added 14 points and a team high nine rebounds. Chestnut
added four rebounds and three steals. Senior forward Brandon Zaleski
and junior forward Zach Zsilavecz each scored 12 points in the victory
before fouling out. Zaleski, who moved into second all-time at Moravian
in scoring with 1,647 career points, added six rebounds and three blocked
shots, which tied his career high. Zsilavecz also had five rebounds

before the Leopards went on a 17-0 run, taking the lead for good. Moravian
pulled back within six points at 23-17 with 7:14 remaining before halftime
but Lafayette would pull ahead 37-26 at the break. The Greyhounds shot
just 22 percent (seven of 32) in the first half, making two of 13 three-pointers
and ten of 11 free throws. Lafayette made 14 of 30 first half field
goals (46.7 percent), going four of eight behind the three-point line
and five of six at the foul line. In the second half, the Leopards would
pull ahead by 15 points at 58-43 with 6:05 left in the game. However,
Moravian freshman guard Ryan Miller connected on back-to-back three-pointers
to cut the lead to nine at 58-49. Lafayette responded with a 7-0 run
to put the game out of reach. Moravian would make 19 of 62 field goals

their shooting performance around in the second half and actually out-scored

Moravian won its first game of the season, defeating Widener University,
94-91 in overtime, in the 2004-05 Commonwealth Conference season opener
for both schools. The victory snaps an eight-game losing streak for
the Greyhounds dating back to last season and is Moravian's first win
versus the Pioneers since February 9, 1998, a span of 12 straight wins
for Widener. The game was close the entire way with neither team ever
pulling to far ahead. In the first half, Widener held an early 3-2 lead
before the Greyhounds jumped in front. Moravian would lead until the
final seconds of the first half, building an eight-point lead twice
with the final time at 40-32 with 3:17 in the half, however, Widener
scored the final six points before intermission to knot the score at
42-42. In the game's first 20 minutes, Moravian connected on 19 of 34
field goal attempts (55.9 percent) with three three-pointers while the
Pioneers made 16 of 35 field goals (45.7 percent) with three three-pointers
and a seven-of-eight performance at the foul line. When the second half
started, Widener took a brief 46-45 lead and the score would be tied
at 50-50 before Moravian went on a 12-2 run for the largest lead of
the game by either team at 62-52 with 15:12 remaining in regulation.
The Pioneers pulled back ahead with 7:28 remaining at 70-69, but Moravian
responded for a 73-70 lead. The game would go back and forth the rest
of the way with Moravian leading 82-79 with 18 seconds remaining after
a pair of foul shots by senior forward Brandon Zaleski. Widener tied
the game at 82-82 with four second left in regulation on a three-pointer
by freshman guard Kodi Dwebeng while the Greyhounds had two fouls to
give. Moravian had a golden opportunity to win the game at the buzzer
but a wide open Zaleski was unable to handle a pass from freshman guard
Justin Chestnut. In overtime, the Greyhounds put the game away at the
foul line, connecting on eight of 12 free throws. Moravian would lead
by as many as six points in the extra session. For the game, Moravian
made 35 of 66 field goals (53 percent), their best game of the season,
to go along with six three-pointers and an 18 of 26 performance (69.2
percent) at the foul line. Widener also shot well from the floor, connecting
on 38 of 74 field goals (51.4 percent) with eight three-pointers and
the Pioneers were just seven of 11 (63.6 percent) from the foul line.

15 points with nine coming in the first half. Junior forward Ed Reid
contributed a career high 14 points for the Greyhounds while junior
forward Zach Zsilavecz added 11 points, three rebounds and three assists.
Freshman guard Ryan Miller had a career high ten points while Chestnut
was the only other Greyhound to score with four points, all in overtime
at the foul line. Chestnut added four rebounds and four assists in the
Moravian victory. Sophomore guard Essien Ford of Widener led all scorers
with 27 points while junior center Kris Clarkson had 20 points, 15 rebounds,
six steals, five assists and three blocked shots for the Pioneers. Dwebeng
finished with 13 points, 11 in the second half, while Senior guard Matt

The Greyhounds suffered their fourth loss of the season, falling to
local rival Muhlenberg College, 74-61, in non-conference action. Moravian
trailed 9-0 before scoring in the game, and the Greyhounds were behind
41-23 at halftime. Moravian shot just ten of 29 (34.5 percent) in the
first half while the Mules made 17 of 34 field goal attempts (50 percent)
including six of 14 three-pointers (42.9 percent). In the second half,
the Greyhounds would shot 62.5 percent (15 of 24) but the Mules made
another 14 of 28 field goals (50 percent) and maintained at least a
ten-point lead the entire half. The closest Moravian would get was at
55-45 with 10:13 remaining on a lay-up by senior forward Brandon Zaleski.
During the first half, Zaleski became the fifth player in Moravian history
to reach 1,500 points on a free throw with 8:35 remaining in the half.
Two minutes later, Zaleski hit a jumper to move into fourth all-time
in scoring. He currently has 1,512 points after scoring a game-high
22 points versus the Mules. Zaleski needs just 73 points to move into
third all-time. Zaleski also pulled down a game-high ten rebounds for
his first double-double of the season, and he added three assists and
three steals. Freshman guard Justin Chestnut was the only other Moravian
player to score in double figures with a career high ten points to go
with four assists and three rebounds. Junior forward Steve Wenderfer
contributed nine points, eight rebounds, two steals and two blocked
shots while freshman guard Ryan Miller tied his career high with seven
points. Junior guard Joe Depasquale added five points for the Greyhounds.
Tom Scott led four Muhlenberg players in double figures with 21 points
while Jeff Stewart had a double-double for the Mules with 13 points
and ten rebounds. The win gives Muhlenberg a 5-3 lead in the annual
Matte Award Standings between the two schools.

Moravian dropped its home opener, falling to local rival DeSales University,
75-53. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first 4:08 of
the game but the Bulldogs rallied to tie the game at 12-12. DeSales
would take control from there and hold a 38-26 halftime lead. Moravian
shot just 35 percent for the game (15 of 43) and committed 25 turnovers
while the Bulldogs connected on 47.6 percent of their shots (30 of 63).

assists. Sophomore forward Matt Devlin grabbed four rebounds for the
Greyhounds while freshman forward Chris Earley had three rebounds.
