Moravian closed out the 2005-06 season with a 74-70 upset victory over
Elizabethtown College in Commonwealth Conference action in Johnston
Hall. Despite the loss, the Blue Jays still clinched the fourth seed
in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament due to Susquehanna University's
loss to Lebanon Valley College. The game was close early in the first
half with an 8-8 tie at the 14:18 mark. Elizabethtown went on a 16-6
run to take a 22-14 lead with 6:21 remaining before the intermission;
however, Moravian countered with a 9-1 run to tie the contest at 23-23
with 3:47 before the break. The Blue Jays went into halftime with a
30-29 lead. Moravian shot very well in the first half, making 11 of
19 field goal attempts (57.9 percent), two of three three-pointers and
five of six free throws (83.3 percent) while Elizabethtown was 11 of
25 (44.0 percent) from the floor, three of 11 on three-pointers and
five of seven (71.4 percent) at the foul line. The Greyhounds had a
12-11 edge on the boards, but Moravian committed 20 turnovers in the
first 20 minutes while Elizabethtown had 15 miscues. Coming out of the
break, Moravian quickly built a 37-32 lead with 17:52 to play, and the
Greyhounds would push the lead to 43-35 over the next three minutes.
Moravian led 49-42 with 12:22 on the clock when the Blue Jays went on
a 9-0 run to take a 51-49 lead with 10:36 remaining. Over the next four
minutes, the game was tied twice with Elizabethtown building a brief
lead each time after the tie. The final tie was at 61-61 with 6:21 remaining.
The Blue Jays scored the next bucket before Moravian took the lead for
good, 64-63, on a three-pointer by junior guard Michael Clemente with
5:40 remaining. The Greyhounds, who entered the week ranked ninth in
the nation in free throw shooting, scored six of their final ten points
at the foul line to ice the victory. Moravian shot even better from
the floor in the second half, making 14 of 22 field goal attempts (63.6
percent) and five of eight three-pointers (62.5 percent); however, the
Greyhounds were just 12 of 18 (66.7 percent at the foul line). Moravian
only committed five turnovers in the second half but was out-rebounded
by Elizabethtown, 16-10, after the break. The Blue Jays shot 12 of 22
(54.5 percent) from the field in the second half, and Elizabethtown
was three of five behind the three-point line and 13 of 19 (68.4 percent)
at the foul line while committing seven turnovers in the second half.
Moravian, which was celebrating senior day, had five players score in
double figures led by senior forward Zach Zsilavecz, who netted a game
high 18 points. Clemente tossed in 13 points while going three-for-three
behind the three-point line while senior forward Ed Reid had 12 points
and three rebounds. Sophomore forward Mark Franzyshen and sophomore
guard Justin Chestnut each netted ten points in the win for Moravian
with Franzyshen grabbing a team high five rebounds. Sophomore guard
Ryan Miller led the Greyhounds with six assists to go with five points,
and sophomore forward Eric Whitman added three rebounds. The Blue Jays
had four players scoring in double figures as well with Chad Piersol
scoring a team high 16 points to go with four rebounds and three assists.
Senior forward Brian Schreiber and Brad Schreiber each has 12 points
for Elizabethtown with Brad grabbing six rebounds and Brian adding five
rebounds and three steals. Michael Schatzmann contributed ten points
and four rebounds while guard Brian Goodwin had nine points and four
assists for the Blue Jays.

The Greyhounds had their two-game winning streak snapped in a 64-60
loss to Widener University in Commonwealth Conference action at Johnston
Hall. Moravian trailed 4-2 before a 16-0 Greyhound run put Moravian
up 18-4 with 12:36 left in the first half. Widener would slowly climb
back into the game, getting as close as five points twice, but the Greyhounds
went to the break with a 28-22 advantage. Moravian was 11 of 29 from
the floor in the first half (37.9 percent) with five three-pointers.
The Greyhounds were just one of two at the foul line and committed eight
turnovers; however, Moravian had a 22-16 rebounding advantage. The Pioneers
were eight of 26 (30.8 percent) in the first half with one three-pointers
and five of eight free throws (62.5 percent). Widener was guilty of
six turnovers in the first 20 minutes. Widener quickly tied the game
at 32-32 in the second half and took its first lead since the opening
two minutes of the game with a 35-32 edge with 16:58 remaining in the
contest. The Greyhounds kept the game close with the game being tied
six times in the next 11 minutes and neither team building more than
a four-point lead. Moravian's final lead came with 3:38 left in the
contest as the Greyhounds had a 55-54 advantage. Widener finished the
game on a 10-5 run to clinch first place in the upcoming Commonwealth
Conference Tournament coupled with Messiah College's lost to Elizabethtown
College. In the second half, Moravian was ten of 28 from the floor (35.7
percent) with three three-pointers, and the Greyhounds went nine of
11 from the foul line (81.8 percent). Moravian finished the game with
a 41-31 advantage in rebounds, and the Greyhounds made just seven turnovers
in the second half. Widener improved its shooting in the second 20 minutes,
connecting on 15 of 29 field goal attempts (51.7 percent) with three
three-pointers and a nine of 11 performance at the foul line as well.
Widener also took care of the ball in the second half with just three
turnovers. Sophomore guard Ryan Miller led Moravian with 15 points,
two rebounds and two steals while senior forward Zach Zsilavecz had
11 points and three rebounds. Sophomore guard Justin Chestnut and sophomore
forward Eric Whitman each tossed in eight points while Chestnut had
four assists and Whitman grabbed a career high nine rebounds. Junior
guard Michael Clemente contributed six points on a pair of three-pointers
for the Greyhounds while junior forward Matt Devlin had five rebounds
and four points. Senior forward Ed Reid was limited to just two points
and three rebounds but had a career high six blocked shots for Moravian.
For Widener, senior center/forward Kris Clarkson tied his career high
with 31 points including 25 in the second half, and he added nine rebounds,
three steals and three blocked shots. Senior guard Brandon Blakey and
senior forward Brooke Tidswell each netted eight points for the Pioneers
with Blakey dishing out six assists and Tidswell grabbing six boards
and blocking two shots. JUnior guard Essien Ford added five points in
the Widener win.

Moravian won its second straight game with a 75-68 upset at Messiah
College in Commonwealth Conference action. The Greyhounds have won
consecutive contests for the first time in over a month and earned
their first road conference victory of the year. The game was close
throughout the first half as neither team pulled away. Moravian scored
the final six points of the half including a short jumper just as
the first half horn sounded to head into the intermission with a 36-34
lead. The Greyhounds had a hot shooting touch in the first half, making
14 of 24 field goal attempts (58.3 percent) with two three-pointers
and a perfect six-of-six at the foul line. Messiah also shot well
before the break, hitting 14 of 34 field goal attempts (41.2 percent)
with a pair of three-pointers and a four-for-six performance at the
foul line. In the second half, the game would remain close before
the Greyhounds eventually pulled ahead for a ten-point lead. Moravian
made nine of 20 field goals (45 percent) with three three-pointers
after the half. The Greyhounds, one of the top free throw shooting
teams in the country, were 18 of 23 (78.3 percent) after the break
to seal the victory. Messiah did finish with a 40-33 advantage in
rebounds, and the Falcons had just nine turnovers in the game while
Moravian made 16 turnovers. Messiah was just 12 of 38 (31.6 percent)
from the floor in the second half with one three-pointers and just
nine of 15 free throws (60 percent). Moravian had a balanced scoring
attack with three players in double figures led by 15 points from
senior forward Zach Zsilavecz, who also had five rebounds. Sophomore
forward Chris Earley came off the bench to score 13 points including
a nine-for-nine performance at the foul line, and Earley added five
rebounds. Sophomore forward Mark Franzyshen contributed 11 points
and four boards in limited action off the bench for the Greyhounds
before fouling out of the game. Sophomore guard Ryan Miller tossed
in nine points with three boards and two assists while sophomore guard
Justin Chestnut added nine points and five assists. Sophomore forward
Eric Whitman scored six points and grabbed three rebounds for Moravian
while senior forward Ed Reid had five points, three rebounds and a
pair of blocked shots in the victory. Junior forward Matt Devlin contributed
four points and two boards in the win. For Messiah, Zach Weinicki
had 22 points, nine rebounds and three steals while Quinn McCullough
contributed 14 points, three rebounds and four assists. Jared Yoder
added 13 points, nine rebounds and three assists for the Falcons.

The Greyhounds snapped a two-game losing streak with an 81-61 victory
over Lebanon Valley College in Commonwealth Conference action in Johnston
Hall. Moravian opened the scoring with a three-pointer on its first
possession before the Flying Dutchmen scored eight straight points
for an 8-3 lead with 17:58 remaining in the first half, Lebanon Valley's
largest lead of the game. Moravian scored six unanswered points to
retake the lead at 9-8. The two squads would trade the lead over the
next seven minutes before the score was tied 21-21 with 7:19 remaining
in the first half. Moravian scored seven straight points for a 28-21
lead and never trailed again. The Greyhounds finished the half with
a 17-8 run after the final tie to head into the intermission with
a 36-29 advantage. Moravian made just 12 of 28 field goal attempts
(42.9 percent) with a pair of three-pointers; however, the Greyhounds
were a perfect ten-for-ten at the foul line. Both teams had 18 rebounds
with Moravian committing seven first half turnovers, and the Flying
Dutchman making eight turnovers. Lebanon Valley made 11 of 29 first

seeing at least three minutes of action. Sophomore guard Ryan Miller
tied his career high with a team high 18 points while sophomore forward
Mark Franzyshen tossed in 14 points and grabbed a team high six rebounds
off the bench. Sophomore forward Chris Earley also hit double figures
off the bench with 11 points to go with four rebounds while senior
forward Zach Zsilavecz tossed in ten points to go along with four
rebounds and a pair of steals for the Greyhounds. Sophomore guard
Justin Chestnut contributed seven points and a pair of assists while
junior forward Matt Devlin had six points and six rebounds in the
victory. Sophomore guard Greg Jones nailed a pair of three-pointers
for a career high six points for Moravian while senior forward Tyler
Tripucka grabbed three rebounds. For Lebanon Valley, junior guard
Jimmy Curran led the Flying Dutchmen with 20 points and four assists
while junior forward Dave Kasyan had 12 points and eight boards. Freshman
guard Kyle Enoch dished out six assists to go for four rebounds.

Moravian dropped an 83-70 decision at Susquehanna University in Commonwealth
Conference action. The game started an hour late due to a pair of
power failures during the women's game. The game went back-and-forth
for the first ten minutes with neither team leading by more than five
points. The Crusaders led 3-0 and would be up 9-5 three and a half
minutes into the contest before the Greyhounds rallied and took four-point
leads of 13-9 and 15-11, the latter with 12 minutes remaining before
halftime. Susquehanna pulled ahead to a 19-15 lead, but Moravian cut
the lead back to 21-20 with 6:56 to play before the break. The Crusaders
would slowly pull away during the remainder of the half to head into
halftime with a 38-29 advantage. Susquehanna made 14 of 35 first half
field goals (40 percent) including six three-pointers, and the Crusaders
were four of seven (57.1 percent) at the foul line while committing
just five turnovers and holding a 25-21 edge in rebounds. Moravian
connected on 12 of 35 field goal attempts (34.3 percent) in the first
20 minutes with three three-pointers. The Greyhounds made both of
their free throws in the first half and committed just seven turnovers.
At the beginning of the second half, Susquehanna continued to build
on its lead, eventually pushing the advantage to 18 points twice,
the final time at 57-39 with 12:19 remaining in the contest. The Greyhounds
would fight back over the next 4:15, going on a 19-2 run to pull Moravian
within a point at 59-58 with 8:04 on the clock. Greyhound senior forward
Zach Zsilavecz had a chance to tie the game but was unable to convert
the three-point play. The Crusaders' only point during the run came
on a pair of technical foul free throws after Moravian sophomore guard
Greg Jones was called for a technical foul for taunting after he made
a three-pointer. Susquehanna answered with an 8-0 run to rebuild the
lead to 67-59 with 5:06 remaining in the game. The Crusaders eventually
pushed the lead back to double digits and kept it there the rest of
the contest. Moravian shot better in the second half, connecting on
15 of 33 field goal attempts (45.4 percent) and a pair of three-pointers
while going nine of ten at the foul line. Moravian was forced into
nine turnovers in the second half. Susquehanna, which finished with
a 39-35 edge in rebounding, also shot better in the second half, making
13 of 20 field goals (65.0 percent) with two three-pointers. The Crusaders
made 17 of 23 free throw attempts (73.3 percent) after the intermission
while making eight turnovers. Moravian had three players in double
figures led by 11 point each from Zsilavecz and sophomore forward
Chris Earley. Zsilavecz also grabbed a team high seven rebounds while

Ryan Miller tossed in ten points for the Greyhounds while junior forward

in five points for Moravian while sophomore forward Mark Franzyshen

Clemente was held scoreless for the Greyhounds although he dished
out a team high five assists. For Susquehanna, center Matt Effler
had a double-double with game highs of 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Guard Chad Lauer added 15 points, five rebounds and dive assists while
guard Zac Smith had 14 points and three assists for the Crusaders.
Guard Chad Cohle was also in double figures for Susquehanna with ten
points to go with four rebounds and three assists while Sean Ulichny
had nine points, five boards and three steals.

The Greyhounds saw an 11-point halftime lead disappear quickly in
the second half as Moravian fell to Albright College, 86-71, in Commonwealth
Conference action. The Greyhounds scored the first points of the game
and had an early five point lead at 9-4 before the Lions rallied to
tie the contest at 11-11. Moravian slowly pushed the lead into double
figures, reaching as many as 12 points at 37-25 with just under five
minutes remaining in the first half. The Greyhounds headed into the
intermission with a 44-33 lead after shooting 18 of 31 (58.1 percent)
from the floor in the first 20 minutes including a five-for-12 performance
(41.7 percent) behind the three-point line. Moravian was also three
of five at the foul line in the first half. Albright struggled shooting
the ball in the first half, making just 14 of 32 field goal attempts
(43.8 percent) with a trio of three-pointers and two free throws.
The second half would be a completely different story. The Lions began
the half with a 19-2 run to take a 52-46 lead at the 14:26 mark. Moravian
pulled back within two points at 52-50 on a three-pointer by sophomore
guard Justin Chestnut with 13:49 remaining in the game, but an 8-0
run by Albright gave the Lions a 10-point lead and control of the
game. The closest the Greyhounds could get was eight points at 64-56
with 9:31 remaining in the game. Moravian struggled from the floor
after halftime, making just ten of 30 field goal attempts (33.3 percent)
with a pair of three-pointers and five of six free throws (85.6 percent).
On the other hand, Albright was 20 of 30 from the field after the
intermission and 13 of 18 (72.7 percent) at the foul line. The Lions
also had a 48-20 advantage in rebounds. Moravian did commit just eight
turnovers in the game while forcing Albright into 13 miscues. Moravian
had four players in double figures led by 18 points from Chestnut,

Moravian snapped a five-game losing streak and earned its first Commonwealth
Conference victory of the season as the Greyhounds rallied for an
81-72 victory over Juniata College in a conference contest in Johnston
Hall. The Eagles opened a quick 6-3 lead in the first minute and a
half of the game, but a 7-0 run by the Greyhounds gave Moravian a
10-6 lead with just under 16 minutes to play in the first half. Juniata
rallied to take a 13-12 lead before the Greyhounds tied the game at
17-17 with 10:20 to play in the first half. The Eagles would eventually
build an eight-point lead at 32-24 with 5:20 before the intermission;
however, a 14-9 run by Moravian to close the half pulled the Greyhounds
within 41-38 at the break. Moravian was just 11 of 29 (37.9 percent)
from the floor in the first half with a three-pointer, but a 15 of
21 performance (71.4 percent) at the foul line kept the Greyhounds
in the game. Moravian also had a 22-20 edge in rebounds at halftime
but had committed 14 turnovers. Juniata made 14 of 33 field half field
goal attempts (42.4 percent) including five three-pointers, and the
Eagles were eight of ten at the foul line. When the second half started,
the Greyhounds quickly came out and took a 44-43 lead with 17:09 left

The Greyhounds dropped an 80-67 decision to Messiah College in a
Commonwealth Conference game in Johnston Hall. Moravian jumped out
to a quick 11-5 lead in the first three minutes of the game, but an
11-2 run by Messiah gave the Falcons the lead for good at 16-13 just
over three minutes later. Messiah would have a 17-point edge at one
point in the first half and a 44-29 halftime lead. The Falcons were
16 of 32 from the floor including three of nine on three-pointers
and nine of 12 at the foul line in the first 20 minutes. Messiah also
committed just six first half turnovers and had a 20-13 edge in rebounds.
Moravian finished the first half 11 of 26 from the field (42.3 percent),
four of 12 behind the three-point line (33.3 percent) and a perfect
three of three at the foul line. However, the Greyhounds committed
12 turnovers in the first half. Messiah would maintain its lead throughout
the second half as the Falcons led by as many as 24 points. Messiah
made another 16 field goal attempts in the second half on 38 attempts,
and the Falcons finished the game with a 39-30 edge on the boards.
The Greyhounds did shoot 50 percent from the floor after the intermission,

Blue Jays gave Elizabethtown 19-9 lead with ten minutes remaining
in the first half. Moravian would close within five points before
the teams went to the intermission with Elizabethtown holding a 38-31
lead. The Greyhounds made just nine of 28 first half field goal attempts
(32.1 percent) with a trio of three-pointers, and Moravian was a perfect
ten-for-ten at the foul line in the first 20 minutes. The Greyhounds
had a 21-19 edge in rebounds at the break and had committed ten turnovers
to the Blue Jays nine. Elizabethtown made 16 of 35 field goal attempts
(45.7 percent) in the first half and four of seven free throws. Moravian
would quickly cut the lead to four points in the second half before

The Greyhounds had an early 7-2 lead in the first half but a 9-0 run
by the Crusaders put Susquehanna in the lead for good. The Crusaders
would be up by as many as 17 points in the first half before heading
into the locker room with a 42-32 advantage. Moravian struggled shooting
the ball in the first half, making just 12 of 34 field goal attempts
(35.3 percent) and four of seven free throws (57.1 percent) while
Susquehanna had a hot hand, making 16 of 30 field half shots (53.3
percent) and five of nine free throws (55.6 percent). The Crusaders,
who had a 22-18 rebounding advantage in the first half, also had 12
turnovers at the intermission while Moravian had 11 miscues. In the
second half, Susquehanna pushed its lead back to 17 points before

Moravian earned a 96-62 victory over FDU-Florham in the consolation
game of the 28th Annual Greyhound Starters Classic to finish third
in the tournament. Hood College defeated New Jersey City University,
85-82, in the championship game. With the game tied at 4-4, the Greyhounds
went on a 13-5 run to take control at 17-9 with 10:36 remaining in
the first half. Moravian had its best shooting game of the season,
connecting on 15 of 30 field goal attempts (50 percent) in the first
half and 35 of 64 attempts (54.7 percent) for the game. The Greyhounds
were also 15 of 26 behind the three-point line in the contest (57.7
percent) and hit 11 of 14 free throw attempts (78.6 percent). Moravian
did commit 22 turnovers in the game, however, the Greyhounds had a
40-30 advantage on the boards. FDU-Florham was 22 off from the field

Moravian will play FDU-Florham, which lost to New Jersey City University,
76-62, in the other first round game, in the consolation contest on
Sunday at 1:00 p.m. while the Blazers and the Gothic Knights will
play for the championship at 3 p.m. The loss snapped Moravian's two-game
winning streak to begin 2006. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 7-0 lead
in the first five minutes of the game and led 22-13 with 9:44 left
until the intermission. However, Hood scored 19 of the final 28 points
in the first half for a 32-31 halftime advantage. The Blazers connected
on 13 of 30 field goal attempts (43.4 percent) with three three-pointers
and a three for seven performance (42.9 percent) at the foul line
in the first half. Hood committed 11 turnovers in the first 20 minutes
but had a 23-15 advantage on the boards. Moravian made just 11 of

while sophomore guard Justin Chestnut contributed nine points, seven
assists and two boards. Sophomore forward Chris Earley had seven points
and seven rebounds off the bench for Moravian while junior guard Michael
Clemente added six points, three rebounds and three assists. Junior
forward Matt Devlin scored five points for the Greyhounds. The victory
gives Muhlenberg a 5-4 lead in the annual Matte Award standings so
far in 2005-06.

The Greyhounds opened their 2005-06 Commonwealth Conference season
in the squad's first home game with a 78-68 loss to defending Commonwealth
Conference Champion Albright College. Moravian would actually lead
most of the first half, opening up a 16-10 lead with 11:27 until the
intermission; however, the Lions used a 15-6 run to take a 25-22 lead
with 5:37 left in the first half. The score would be tied twice more
but Albright scored on a put back as the horn sounded for a 32-30
halftime lead. In the second half, the Lions opened an early nine-point
lead at 43-34 and would hold at least a four-point advantage the rest
of the way. The Greyhounds made 23 of 67 field goal attempts (34.3
percent) in the game and 17 of 21 free throws (81.0 percent). However,
Moravian was just five of 27 behind the three-point line and committed
17 turnovers. The Lions, who had a 43-38 advantage on the boards,
committed 25 turnovers in the game, but Albright was 27 of 56 from
the floor (48.2 percent) including 18 of 26 (69.2 percent) after the
intermission. Moravian had three players score in double figures including
a team high 13 points by sophomore guard Justin Chestnut. Sophomore
guard Ryan Miller tossed in 11 points to go with three rebounds, two
assists and three steals while junior guard Michael Clemente netted
ten points to go along with five steals, three rebounds and two assists.
Junior forward Matt Devlin scored eight points, and Devlin and senior
forward Ed Reid each grabbed a team high six rebounds and each player
had two blocked shots. Reid added four points as did senior forward
Zach Zsilavecz and sophomore forward Mark Franzyshen. Zsilavecz also
contributed three rebounds for the Greyhounds. Sophomore forward Chris
Earley had six points while sophomore forward Eric Whitman netted
five points for the Greyhounds. Sophomore guard Greg Jones added three
points in the game.

Moravian dropped a 94-67 at local rival DeSales University, the Greyhounds
fifth straight loss to the Bulldogs. Moravian would never hold a lead
in the game, and DeSales needed just four minutes to build a double-digit
lead, which the Bulldogs kept for the remainder of the game. Moravian
suffered through a poor shooting first half, making just 11 of 30
field goal attempts (36.7 percent) with two three-pointers and four-of-five
free throws. DeSales shot 58.6 percent (17 of 29) from the floor in
the first half and added six of 12 three-pointers and seven of eight
free throws. The Greyhounds would shoot better in the second half,
making 16 of 30 field goals (53.3 percent) with five three-pointers;
however, DeSales continued to shoot well, hitting on 20 of 34 field
goal attempts (58.8 percent) and another six three-pointers. The Bulldogs
also out-rebounded Moravian, 36-24. The Greyhounds had a pair of players
in double figures with sophomore guard Ryan Miller netting 11 points
to go alone with four assists and senior forward Zach Zsilavecz adding
ten points, three rebounds and three assists. Senior forward Ed Reid
scored nine points and had three rebounds while junior forward Matt
Devlin and sophomore guard Justin Chestnut each scored eight points.
Devlin added three rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots
while Chestnut had two boards and two assists. Sophomore forward Eric
Whitman added six points and three rebounds off the bench while junior
guard Michael Clemente had five points and sophomore forward Mark

Gettysburg College Tip-Off Tournament - Won 85-70 Boxscore
The Greyhounds earned their first win of the 2005-06 season with
an 85-70 victory over Neumann College in the consolation game of the
15th Annual Gettysburg College Tip-Off Tournament. Moravian led the
entire game and had a 49-41 advantage at halftime. The Greyhounds
shot 18 of 31 (58.1 percent) from the floor in the first half and
connected on 27 of 55 field goal attempts (49.1 percent) for the game.
Moravian also made 22 of 26 free throw attempts (84.6 percent) with
nine three-pointers. The Greyhounds committed just 11 turnovers, however,
Moravian was out-rebounded 37-30 in the contest. Sophomore guard Justin
Chestnut scored a career high 19 points to go with two rebounds and
an assist to lead the Greyhounds while senior forward Ed Reid had
a career high 17 points to go with two boards an assist. Reid was
named to the All-Tournament Team. Sophomore forward Chris Earley had
a career high for the second straight game with 11 points, and Earley
had five rebounds and two blocked shots for the Greyhounds. Senior
forward Zach Zsilavecz and sophomore guard Ryan Miller each scored
nine points with Zsilavecz adding three steals and two rebounds and
Miller contributing four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Junior
guard Michael Clemente netted six points and had four assists while
junior forward Matt Devlin had four points, two rebounds, two assists
and two steals in the victory for Moravian.

At Gettysburg College in 15th Annual Gettysburg
College Tip-Off Tournament - Lost 64-58 Boxscore
Moravian dropped its 2005-06 season opener to host Gettysburg College,
64-58, in the first round of the 15th Annual Gettysburg College Tip-Off
Tournament. The Greyhounds led at halftime, 30-25, but Gettysburg
went on an 11-0 run to start the second half before Moravian scored
at the 14:50 mark after the intermission. The Bullets kept the lead
the rest of the game and led by as many as seven points, however,
Moravian would cut the lead to two points several times including
with 47 seconds remaining in the game. The Greyhounds made 12 of 29
field goal attempts (41.4 percent) from the floor in the first half,
and Moravian made 22 of 55 shots (40 percent) for the game. The Greyhounds
added eight three-pointers while going six-for-six from the foul line.
Gettysburg put the game away from the charity stripe, making 18 of
23 free throws including eight of ten in the final minute of the contest.
Sophomore guard Ryan Miller paced Moravian with a career high 13 points
to go with three rebounds. Senior forward Ed Reid tossed in 12 points
in addition to four rebounds and a career high three blocked shots.
Sophomore forward Chris Earley netted a career high eight points and
added three rebounds while junior guard Michael Clemente had eight
points, a career high six rebounds and three assists. Senior forward
Zach Zsilavecz had seven points, three rebounds and three assists
in the game for the Greyhounds while junior forward Matt Devlin added

Wenderfer contributed four rebounds and a team high two steals. Moravian
will play Neumann College in the consolation game at 2:00 p.m. on
Saturday.
