At 2003 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional hosted by Dickinson College – 14th of 35 Moravian Individual Results
Sophomore Greg Rarick placed 35th to earn All-Mideast Region honors and lead Moravian to a 14th place team finish of 35 schools at the 2003 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional hosted by Dickinson College at Carlisle High School. Rarick finished the 8,000-meter course in a time of 27:27. Junior Patrick Grogan was 49th in a time of 27:51 while senior Sean mcDonnell placed 68th in 28:14. Senior Joe Grady closed out his career with a 100th place finish in a time of 28:47 while sophomore Will Shimer placed 111th in 28:59. Rounding out the Greyhound line-up was freshman Jared Cascioli in 170th place with a time of 30:02. There were 249 individuals in the race.
At 2003 Middle Atlantic Corporation Championships hosted by DeSales University – 6th of 13 Moravian Individual Results
Sophomore Greg Rarick placed 18th to earn All-Conference Second Team honors and lead Moravian to a sixth place team finish at the 2003 Middle Atlantic Corporation Championships hosted by DeSales University. Rarick finished the 8,000-meter course in a time of 28:07.81. Junior Patrick Grogan was 21st out of the 125 competitors with a time of 28:25.88 while senior Sean McDonnell placed 27th at 28:51.26. Senior Joe Grady finished 30th with a time of 28:56.53 while freshman Jared Casciole rounded out the Moravian top five with a 44th place finish in 29:34.21. Other competitors for the Greyhounds included sophomore Will Shimer in 48th place in a time of 29:40.31, senior Marty Miller at 69th in 31:10.00, junior Michael Caffrey at 78th in 31:29.33, freshman Ryan Brodhead in 99th place with a time of 33:02.49, junior Anthony Bisti at 101st in 22:07.81 and sophomore Russell Zaleski in 105th place at 33:23.25.
At Kutztown University Maroon & Gold Invitational – 1st of 7 Moravian Individual Results
Sophomore Greg Rarick won the 2003 Kutztown University Maroon & Gold Cross Country Invitational with a time of 16:33 over the 5,000-meter course to lead the Moravian College men’s cross country team to a first place team finish in the seven team race. The Greyhounds had a team score of 49, three points ahead of second place East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. Freshman Jared Casciole placed fourth among the 47 runners with a time of 16:48 while senior Sean McDonnell was fifth in 16:50. Sophomore Will Shimer captured 14th place in a time of 17:14 while senior Marty Miller was 29th in 18:17 to round out the Moravian top five. Other Greyhound individuals included freshman Ryan Brodhead in 34th place in a time of 18:56 and junior Anthony Bisti in 36th place in 19:19.
At DeSales University Invitational – 13th of 34 Moravian Individual Results
Moravian finished 13th of 34 teams at the 2003 DeSales University Invitational and had a team score of 337. The Greyhounds were led by sophomore Greg Rarick, who placed 58th of 228 runners in the 8,000-meter race with a time of 28:29.45. Junior Patrick Grogan placed 62nd in a time of 28:33.79 while senior Marty Miller was 72nd in 28:43.13. Senior Sean McDonnell finished 78th for the Greyhounds in 28:50.60 while sophomore Will Shimer was 80th overall in 28:56.69. Senior Joe Grady placed 88th in 29:05.37 while freshman Jared Casciole was 98th in 29:20.59.
In the Sub-Varsity race, sophomore led the Greyhounds with a 16th place finish among the 129 competitors with a time of 29:29.58. Junior Michael Caffrey was 55th in 30:55.75 while junior Anthony Bisti placed 88th with a time of 32:14.74. Freshman Ryan Brodhead rounded out the Moravian runners in 95th place at 32:37.15.
At Dickinson College Long Course/Short Course Invitational at Carlisle High School – 11th of 40 Moravian Individual Results
Running for the first time in three weeks, the Greyhounds placed 11th of 40 schools in the 8,000-meter race at the Dickinson College Long Course/Short Course Invitational run at Carlisle High School, the site of the 2003 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional in November. Sophomore Greg Rarick paced Moravian with a time of 27:54.20 to place 34th of the 260 runners in the race. Junior Patrick Grogan was 46th in a time of 28:12.88 while senior Sean McDonnell finished 48th in 28:15.63. Rounding out the Moravian top five were senior Marty Miller in 59th place with a time of 28:23.87 and freshman Jared Casciole taking 69th in 28:36.19.
Other runners for the Greyhounds included senior Joe Grady in 71st place with a time of 28:39.35, sophomore Will Shimer at 77th in 28:46.11, sophomore Russell Zaleski placing 118th in 29:26.92, junior Michael Caffrey placing 178th in a time of 30:47.72, freshman Ryan Brodhead at 208th in 31:43.27 and junior Anthony Bisti in 212th with a time of 31:53.87.
At Monmouth Invitational hosted by Monmouth University – Postponed until September 22nd
The Monmouth University Invitational scheduled for Friday, September 19th has been postponed until Monday, September 22nd due to inclement weather. However, due to conflicts with classes, the Greyhounds will not be attending the meet.
At Mule/Falcon Invitational hosted by Cedar Crest College – 1st of 8 Moravian Individual Results
Moravian won the 2003 Mule/Falcon Invitational hosted by Cedar Crest College with a team score of 27 points, 22 points ahead of Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. Junior Pat Grogan led the Greyhounds with a second place finish in a time of 27:42.8 on the 8,000-meter course. Senior Marty Miller was third in 27:46.7 while freshman Jared Casciole placed fourth with a time of 27:50.3. Senior Sean McDonnell was fifth in the 69-runner race in 27:52.4 while sophomore Will Shimer rounded out the top five for the Greyhounds, placing 13th in a time of 28:35.7.
Other runners for Moravian included senior Joe Grady finishing 14th in 28:43.7, sophomore Greg Rarick at 19th in a time of 29:00.9, sophomore Russell Zaleski taking 23rd place in 29:18.5, freshman Ryan Brodhead finishing 36th in 30:50.8, junior Michael Caffrey in 41st place with a time of 31:42.2 and junior Anthony Bisti taking 43rd place in 32:06.3.
At 2003 Lehigh Valley Championships hosted by Lehigh University – 5th of 7 Moravian Individual Results
The Greyhounds placed fifth of seven schools at the 2003 Lehigh Valley Championships with a score of 131 and were the top NCAA Division III school in the race, beating Muhlenberg College by 13 points and DeSales University by 15 points. Senior Marty Miller led the Greyhounds with a time of 27:37.2 on the 8,000-meter course, good enough for 25th place in the 88-runner event. Senior Sean McDonnell placed 31st in a time of 27:59.4 while junior Pat Grogan took 39th in 28:13. Rounding out the Moravian top five were sophomore William Shimer in 42nd place with a time of 28:18 and freshman Jared Casciole at 49th in 28:43.
The Greyhounds other competitors in the race included sophomore Russell Zaleski placing 67th in 29:44.7; freshman Ryan Brodhead taking 78th with a time of 31:26.4, junior Anthony Bisti in 83rd place in 32:11.8 and junior Michael Caffrey at 85th in 32:44.9.
At Marywood University Invitational – 3rd of 8 Moravian Individual Results
The Moravian men’s cross country team took third of eight schools at the Marywood University Invitational to open the 2003 season. The Greyhounds had a team score of 68 points, just one point behind second place Muhlenberg College. The University of Scranton won the meet with a total of 38 points. Senior Sean McDonnell led the Greyhounds on the 8,000-meter course with a time of 28:20, good enough for tenth place in the 83-competitor race. Junior Pat Grogan placed 11th in a time of 28:21 while sophomores William Shimer and Greg Rarick placed 14th and 15th with a time of 28:39. Senior Joe Grady rounded out the Moravian top five in 18th place with a time of 28:44.
