Why did you choose to come to Moravian College?

After narrowing my college search, I finally was stuck between choosing between Moravian and Drexel.  Both schools have great academic programs, so I decided I needed to go deeper than just into academics.  I’ve always loved running and Drexel didn’t have a cross country or track program.  It was an easy choice after that.

What is you major and how did you decide on it?

Neuroscience - After some Linc classes, I decided that I was more interested in a biology type field than engineering.

What has been your favorite course at Moravian and why?

Despite the difficulty of the course, my favorite class has been Cell Physiology with Dr. John Bevington. The amount of information I learned in that class was incomparable to any other class I’ve experienced.

What are your plans for the future once you finish your degree at Moravian?

I'd really like to get into research and the possibility of grad school is still an option as well.

What is your most memorable moment as a Greyhound?

It’s a bittersweet memory, but it’s definitely Cross Country Regionals 2007. Coach gave us projections to what he thought everyone’s time could be.  I’d been running on an injury for a few weeks. A mile and a half in, my race ended, but I was helped over to the finish of the race.  At the line, I got to see the most spectacular thing I’ve seen in all my years of running.  Not only did everyone run their projected time, but everyone ran a personal best that day.  I’ve never been on a team as dedicated to succeeding and pulling through adversity as this team.

How has being an athlete helped you as a student?

Simultaneously, Academics and athletics can be very demanding so time management becomes extremely important. Athletics have helped me to balance my time for academics, athletics, and time to just be the average college kid.

What advice do you have for a prospective Moravian College student-athlete?

The best advice I have to give is to never hesitate when asking a professor or coach for something.  They’re there to help and teach you.  It took me a little to understand that, but now I know if I didn’t understand something in class, most professors are more than happy to try and help you better understand.  Almost every coach at Moravian will do anything they can for an athlete, even if that athlete that isn’t their own.
