second overtime to give the Lady Greyhounds a 1-0 victory over Delaware
Valley College in their final match of the 1999 season. Sophomore goalie
Samantha Fillian had 3 saves for her first career shutout.
Vs. Widener University Lost 3-1
Sophomore midfielder Elissa Gerstel scored a goal for the fourth straight
match but it wasnt enough as the Lady Greyhounds fell to Widener
University, 3-1, in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. Junior foward
Brooke Dancho added an assist. Sophomore goalie Samantha Fillian had
two saves in 59 minutes while freshman Mary Peterson did not make a
save in 11 minutes of action.
At Susquehanna University Lost 3-1
Sophomore midfielder Elissa Gerstel scored a goal for the third straight
match but it wasnt enough as the Lady Greyhounds fell to Susquehanna
University, 3-1, in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. Sophomore goalie
Samantha Fillian had four saves in 58 minutes while freshman Mary Peterson
made one save in 12 minutes of action.
Vs. Wilkes University Lost 3-2
Sophomore midfielder Elissa Gerstel scored a pair of first half goals
but it wasnt enough as the Lady Greyhounds fell to Wilkes University
3-2 in Middle Atlantic Conference action. Junior forward Brooke Dancho
and sophomore defender Andrea Rafferty each had assists in the match.
Sophomore goalie Samantha Fillian had six saves and stopped penalty
stroke with a minute left in the first half to keep the score 2-2.
Vs. Marywood University Won 3-1
Junior forward Chelsea Roberts scored a pair of goals to lift Moravian
to a 3-1 victory over Marywood University in non-conference action.
Roberts gave the Lady Greyhounds a 1-0 lead with 23 minutes and a half
minutes left in the first half on an unassisted goal. Robertss
second goal came with one minute remaining in the match off a pass
from sophomore midfielder Leslie Siebler. Sophomore midfielder Elissa
Gerstel pushed the Moravian lead to 2-0 with just over 30 minutes remaining
in the second half on a goal assisted by sophomore forward SuzyWargo.
Moravians sophomore goalie Samantha Fillian played 53 minutes
and did not face a shot while freshman Mary Peterson played the final
17 minutes of the match.
Vs. Elizabethtown College Lost 2-0
The Lady Greyhounds fell to Elizabethtown College, 2-0, in MAC Commonwealth
Conference action. Sophomore goalie Samantha Fillian played the first
35 minutes of the match for Moravian with five saves while freshman
Mary Peterson played the second half with one save.
At Bryn Mawr College Lost 1-0
Bryn Mawrs Brooke Walker scored four and a half minutes into
the match to give Bryn Mawr a 1-0 lead and the eventual final score.
Moravian sophomore goalie Samantha Fillian made two saves in the match.
Vs. Lebanon Valley College Lost 2-0
The Lady Greyhounds lost to nationally ranked Lebanon Valley College
in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. Sophomore goalie Samantha Fillian
had two saves in the match. The Lady Greyhounds did not get a shot
on goal in the contest.
Vs. Albright College Lost 1-0 (overtime)
Albrights Rachel Perkins scored with 6:56 remaining in the first
overtime to give the Lions a 1-0 victory over the Lady Greyhounds.
Sophomore goalie Samantha Fillian had six saves in the loss, the fifth
straight by one goal for Moravian.
Vs. Gwynedd Mercy College Lost 3-2
Junior forward Brooke Dancho and senior midfielder Nicole Drey each
scored goals but it wasnt enough as the Lady Greyhounds fell
to Gwynedd Mercy College, 3-2, on a goal with 25 seconds remaining
in the match. Sophomore goalie Samantha Fillian made two saves in the
match.
At Juniata College Lost 4-3
Junior forward Brooke Dancho and sophomore midfielder Elissa Gerstel
and Leslie Siebler each scored goals but it wasnt enough as Moravian
dropped a 4-3 decision to Juniata in MAC Commonwealth Conference action.
Moravian trailed 2-0 in the first half before Sieblers goal cut
the lead in half just before the intermission. With the Lady Greyhounds
trailing, 3-1, Dancho and Gerstel scored back-to-back goals to tie
the match at 3-3 with 18 minutes remaining. Juniatas Becky Koch
scored the winning goal with 2:27 remaining in regulation. Moravian
sophomore goalie Samantha Fillian made ten saves in goal.
At Messiah College Lost 1-0 (2 overtimes)
Messiah Colleges Lynn Kraves scored with 12:27 remaining in
the second overtime to hand the Lady Greyhounds their first loss of
the 1999 season in MAC Commonwealth Conference action. Moravian sophomore
goalie Samantha Fillian made 16 saves in the match including a top
on a penalty stroke in the first overtime.
Vs. Marywood University postponed
The field hockey match was postponed to Thursday, October 7th at
4:30 p.m. due to Hurricane Floyd.
At Kings College Lost 2-1
Sophomore Suzy Wargo scored her first goal of the year to give the
Lady Greyhounds a 1-0 lead but Moravian couldnt hold on, falling
to Kings College, 2-1, in Middle Atlantic Conference action.
Junior Brooke Dancho had the assist on Wargos goal while sophomore
goalie Samantha Fillian had nine saves in the loss.
Vs. Cedar Crest College Won 2-1
The Lady Greyhound field hockey team scored its first victory under
new head coach Martha Kerrick, defeating Cedar Crest College, 2-1.
Scoring goals for Moravian were juniors Brooke Dancho and Chelsea Roberts.
Sophomore goalie Samantha Fillian made three saves for her first collegiate
win in goal.
At Haverford College Lost 3-1
Sophomore Leslie Siebler scored her first goal of the season but it
wasnt enough as the Lady Greyhounds fell to Haverford College,
3-1. Sophomore goalie Samantha Fillian had four saves in 58 minutes
while freshman goalie Mary Peterson made one stop in her first 12 minutes
of collegiate action.
At Scranton Lost 2-0
Moravian dropped a 2-0 match to national power the University of Scranton.
Sophomore goalie Samantha Fillian made five saves in the loss.
At Muhlenberg Lost 2-1 (overtime)
The Lady Greyhounds lost a tough 2-1 match in overtime to arch rival
Muhlenberg College in the debut of new head Martha Kerrick. After a
scoreless first half, Moravians Brooke Dancho scored three minutes
into the second half to give the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead. Muhlenberg
won the match in the first minute of overtime.
