Under
the direction of fifth year head coach Amy Endler, the
2007 Moravian College field hockey team posted a 7-8 record this fall.
The Greyhounds were 2-4 in the newly created Landmark Conference and suffered
a total of three one-goal losses during the season.
Leading the Greyhounds is sophomore forward Kayla Carson (Leesport,
PA/Wyomissing HS), pictured at right and who was named to the 2007 Landmark All-Conference
Field Hockey Second Team, had nine goals and four assists for a total
of 22 points. Senior forward Savannah Bayer (Newton, NJ/Newton HS)
put five goals in the back of the cage to go along with four
assists for a total of 14 points while senior forward Erica Spatz
(Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken HS) had four goals and six assists for
14 points as well.
Junior forward Julia Garofalo (Oakhurst, NJ/Ocean Township HS)
contributed six goals and one assist for 13 points while sophomore forward Lynda
Kaufmann (Boothwyn, PA/Chichester HS) had three points off of one
goal and one assist. Senior midfielder Mauri Dallago (Kutztown,
PA/Kutztown HS) and freshman forward Leigh Campbell (Oxford,
MD/Easton HS) each put one goal in this season for the Greyhounds.
Sophomore forward Julie Bisci (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg HS)
and junior midfielder/defender Lindsey Santacross (Bennington,
VT/Mount Anthony HS) both have put up one assist. Senior midfielder
Beverly Beaver (Merchantville, NJ/Pennsauken HS) helped lead the Moravian defense in her last season as a Greyhound while junior defender Laura
Boyd (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley HS) had one defensive save on the year. Sophomore defender Steph
Dellaquilla (Woodbury, NJ/West Deptford HS) also had a defensive save this season.
Time in goal was split between freshman Maura Acox (Old Bridge,
NJ/St. John Vianney HS) and sophomore Aliina Ross (Paoli,
PA/Conestoga HS). Acox , pictured at left making a save in Moravian's 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Muhlenberg College, had a 2.11 goals against
average to go along with 68 saves, and one shutout in 997 minutes of action in her debut season.
Ross had two goals against, and three saves in 63 minutes of action.
Also contributing for the Greyhounds were sophomore midfielders Samantha
Bell (Sparta, NJ/Pope John XXIII HS), and Damara Varney
(Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS), defender Patty Eck
(Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua HS), and forward Jillian Pagliei
(Ivyland, PA/Council Rock North HS); and freshmen forwards Vita
Ranella (Clarks Green, PA/Abington Heights HS), Maureen
Helfers (Westbury, NY/W.T. Clarke HS), Becky Renaldo (Allentown,
PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS), and Alexandra Lopez (Manasquan,
NJ/Manasquan HS), and defender/midfielder Sarah Carman (Perkasie,
PA/Pennridge HS).
Beaver, Spatz, Bell,
Boyd, Garofalo, Santacross
and Varney were all named to the 2007 Landmark Conference
Fall Academic Honor Roll.
