Junior forward Mary Swarthout scored a pair of goals in the opening 7:15 of the match to lead nationally-ranked The Catholic University of America to a 7-0 Landmark Conference victory over visiting Moravian College on the final day of the 2010 regular season.
Swarthout scored off of a pass from senior forward Meredith Chandler in the sixth minute, and she scored again in the eighth minute with an assist from junior forward Tracey Scanlon for her 14th goal of the season. Chandler scored off of an assist from Swarthout in the 16th minute as the Cardinals headed into the intermission with a 3-0 lead.
Freshman forward Isabella DeLiso scored goals in the 42nd and 58th minute while senior midfielder/forward Tory Gagliardi added a goal in the 60th minute. Senior forward Abby Banholzer finished the scoring with a goal in the final minute of the match. Gagliardi also had two assists in the contest while Banholzer and sophomore defender/midfielder Kathryn Morris each had one assist.
Catholic had a 19-2 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in penalty corners. Moravian freshman goalie Andrea Eck had four saves in 51 minutes of action while sophomore keeper Catherine Gottlieb had three saves in the opening 19 minutes. The Cardinals used two goalies with freshman Megan Communale making two saves in 52 minutes of action.

The Ramapo College of New Jersey field hockey team scored a pair of first half goals and then held off a late rally with a 2-1 non-conference win versus Moravian College at Betty Prince Field Wednesday afternoon.
Junior forward/defender Rebecca Penhaker opened the scoring for the Roadrunners in the 24th minute when she tapped in a shot for her third goal of the year from junior defender Aimee Herbert on a penalty corner. Ten minute later, junior forward/midfielder Jayne Manigrasso scored a put back goal after a save for her fifth goal of the season.
Moravian would finally get on the scoreboard in the 68th minute when senior forward Becky Renaldo, pictured at right, tapped in a one-touch pass from freshman midfielder/forward Chelsea Grotyohann after a long shot by senior forward Vita Ranella on a penalty corner. For Renaldo, who started the penalty corner, it was her ninth goal of the season.
Ramapo had a 15-13 advantage in shots including an 11-5 edge in the first half while the Greyhounds had a 13-8 advantage in penalty corners. Sophomore goalie Rebecca Elliot had seven saves for the Roadrunners while sophomore keeper Catherine Gottlieb had five saves for Moravian. The Greyhounds, who dropped their ninth one-goal match of the season, received a defensive save from sophomore defender Stephanie Pezzello.

Ally Bradley and Rebecca Entwistle each netted two goals to lead the Susquehanna University field hockey team to a 6-0 Landmark Conference win over visiting Moravian College Saturday afternoon at Sassafras Fields.
Julia Amendoa opened the scoring in the 15th minute off of a pass from Diana Mask before Entwistle netted her first goal off of another Mask assist in the 23rd minute. Bradley scored on a penalty shot in the 25th minute, and she added a goal in the 26th minute when she deflected in a shot from Samantha Reitz.
Entwistle scored her second goal in the 42nd minute off of a pass from Bradley while Danielle Waleko finished off the scoring in the 57th with an assist from Amendola.
Susquehanna had a 17-5 advantage in shots and a 15-7 edge in penalty corners. Crusader goalie Erin Ferguson made five saves while sophomore goalie Catherine Gottlieb had five saves in 47 minutes of action for the Greyhounds. Moravian freshman Andrea Eck played the final 23 minutes without a save.

The Knights jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute when Crabtree found a loose ball and put it in the back of the cage for her fourth goal of the season. Moravian would tie the match in the 31st minute when freshman midfielder/forward Chelsea Grotyohann, pictured at right, netted her third goal of the year off a pass from freshman forward Briana Van Buskirk on a penalty corner.
Crabtree’s game-winner came after the Greyhounds had controlled the ball for the prior 15 minutes with six shots on goal and six penalty corners. Moravian had a 13-7 advantage in shots for the match and a 13-4 edge in penalty corners. The loss for the Greyhounds was their eighth by one goal this season.
Moravian freshman goalie Andrea Eck made four saves after entering the match in the 20th minute for sophomore Catherine Gottlieb. The Greyhounds also had a defensive save from sophomore defender Stephanie Pezzello. Freshman keeper Lindsey Kasecamp had 12 saves for Neumann.

Moravian had opening the scoring in the 19th minute when sophomore forward Briana Van Buskirk scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season off of a pass from senior midfielder Maureen Helfers, pictured at right. The assist for Helfers was her eighth of the season, one shy of tying the school record for a single season.
The Giants tied the score in the 26th minute when freshman forward Jessica Fusco scored off passes from freshman midfielder Megan Fry and sophomore midfielder/defender Brooke Stutts on a penalty corner. Brotzman scored the game-winner off of an assist from sophomore forward Hope Krolewski.
The loss for the Greyhounds was their seventh of the season by one goal, and it was the fifth time the squad has fallen in the final five minutes of regulation, overtime or strokes this fall.
Keystone had a 7-4 advantage in shots and a 9-8 edge in penalty corners in the contest. Moravian sophomore goalie Catherine Gottlieb had four saves while senior keeper Melinda Moore had one save for the Giants.

The Goucher College field hockey posted a 3-0 advantage in penalty strokes to earn a 3-2 Landmark Conference victory over host Moravian College Saturday afternoon at Betty Prince Field.
Greyhound senior forward Vita Ranella, pictured at right, opened the scoring on Senior Day with an unassisted goal just 24 seconds before halftime.
The Gophers would tie the match at 1-1 in the 51st minute when senior forward Catherine Armao scored off of a pass from senior forward Mary Cadwallender. Moravian tied the match seven minutes later when sophomore forward Briana Van Buskirk connected on an unassisted goal, her team leading tenth of the season.
Goucher would tie the contest again in the 61st minute when sophomore midfielder Angela Buxton had an unassisted goal. The match remained tied at 2-2 through both overtime sessions, forcing the shootout. The Gophers made three of four attempts with senior midfielder/defender Ali Metzger, freshman forward Eden Fitzkee and sophomore midfielder/defender Katie Gallagher each finding the cage. Moravian missed on all three of its shootout attempts.
The Greyhounds had a 20-15 advantage in shots and a 14-9 edge in penalty corners in the match. Moravian sophomore goalie Catherine Gottlieb made ten saves while junior keeper Micki Manheimer had 15 saves for the Gophers.

Freshman goalie Andrea Eck made her first collegiate start a memorable one with four saves to lead the Moravian College field hockey team to a 3-0 non-conference win over NCAA Division II Mercy College Saturday afternoon at Betty Prince Field. The win also helped the Greyhounds snap a four-match losing streak.
With the match scoreless at halftime, Moravian sophomore forward Briana Van Buskirk needed just 1:16 of the second half to get the Greyhounds on the scoreboard with her team leading ninth goal of the season off of a pass from freshman midfielder/forward Chelsea Grotyohan. Senior forward Vita Ranella connected on her fourth goal of the season in the 43rd minute with an assist from senior midfielder Sarah Carman, pictured at right. Senior forward Becky Renaldo finished off the scoring in the 66th minute when she scored her eighth goal of the year off of a pass from Grotyohann.

Freshman midfielder/forward Laura Megargel gave the Royals a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute when she tapped in a crossing pass from senior forward Kaitlyn Tirney. Senior forward Elizabeth Maurer added an insurance goal when she tapped in a deflection off of the goalie in the 51st minute.

FDU-Florham had a 20-6 advantage in shots and a 10-4 edge in penalty corners. The Drew University field hockey team rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat the Moravian College, 4-3, in the Landmark Conference opener for both schools Saturday afternoon at Betty Prince Field.
The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when sophomore forward Briana Van Buskirk scored her team leading eighth goal of the season off of a penalty corner taken by senior forward Becky Renaldo. Freshman midfielder/forward Chelsea Grotyohann pushed Moravian’s lead to 2-0 in the 24th minute with an unassisted goal.
The Rangers would get on the board in the 32nd minute when junior defender/midfielder Melissa Kistley scored an unassisted goal. Senior defender Staci Brown would tie the match early in the second half with a goal off of a pass from junior forward Meghan Howlett in the 39th minute, and Drew would score immediately to take a 32 lead on a goal from freshman midfielder Jess Johnson that was set up by senior midfielder Katie Eggert.
Eggert, the nation’s leading scorer, would net what ended up being the winning goal in the 56th minute when she scored off of a penalty corner taken by Howlett. Moravian pulled within a goal in the final minute when senior forward Vita Ranella, pictured, scored off of a pass from Grotyohann.

Sophomore defender Stephanie Pezzello, pictured at right, scored on her penalty stroke attempt, and sophomore goalie Catherine Gottlieb stopped the final shot to lift the Moravian College field hockey team to a 1-0 victory on penalty strokes (2-1) over rival Muhlenberg College in non-conference action Tuesday evening at Scotty Wood Stadium.
The Greyhounds, who were out-shot 17-5 over the 70 minutes of regulation time and 30 minutes of overtime, took a 1-0 lead in the penalty strokes when freshman Chelsea Grotyohann scored to lead off the second round. The Mules tied the strokes at 1-1 in the fourth round when Cummings scored on a high shot over Gottlieb’s right shoulder. Pezzello then rifled a shot past Muhlenberg keeper Kristen Dornenburg to put Moravian back in front. Gottlieb would then knock down a shot by Tiffany Kreider to seal the victory as the Greyhounds snapped a two-match losing streak.
Muhlenberg, which had a 12-1 advantage in shots during regulation and a 5-4 edge in overtime, had 22 penalty corners in the match while Moravian had two. Gottlieb made eight saves for the Greyhounds, who are over .500 after seven matches for the first time since 2004. Pezzello also had a defensive save for Moravian in the first half. Dornenburg made four saves for the Mules. The win for the Greyhounds was their first at Muhlenberg since 1997.

Sophomore forward/midfielder Kaitlyn Bevans scored a pair of second half goals including the game-winner to lead the Wilkes University field hockey team to a 4-2 win over Moravian College in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.
The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 4:31 into the match when sophomore forward Briana Van Buskirk put in a pass from senior midfielder Maureen Helfers, pictured at right. For Helfers, it was her seventh assist of the season, just two shy of the school record for a single season with 12 matches remaining.
Wilkes opened the scoring in the second half when junior defender/midfielder Gina Elmy scored on a pass from senior defender Rachel Cannuli on a penalty corner in the 40th minute. Two minutes later, Bevans gave the Colonels the lead when she scored on another penalty corner with an assist by Elmy.
Van Buskirk tied the match for Moravian in the 49th minute when she scored her team leading seventh goal of the season off of a pass from senior forward Vita Ranella. Bevans needed just 56 seconds to put Wilkes back in front when she scored an unassisted goal. Senior forward Becky Renaldo, pictured at right, scored her first career hat trick to lead the Moravian College field hockey team to a 6-1 non-conference win at Cedar Crest College Monday afternoon. The victory is the third in a row for Moravian.
Renaldo opened the scoring for the Greyhounds, who are 3-1 for the first time since 2004 when the team tied the school record for victories, with a goal in the 16th minute off of a pass from senior midfielder Sarah Carman. The Falcons answered 43 seconds later when Lauren Salge put in a pass from Tamera Gruzdis. Renaldo would score her second game-winning goal of the season in the 30th minute with an unassisted tally.
Moravian scored four times in the second half with sophomore forward Briana Van Buskirk scoring off of a pass from senior midfielder Maureen Helfers in the 42nd minute while junior forward Rolyn Santiago netted her first goal of the season in the 47th minute off of another Helfers pass. Van Buskirk scored again in the 56th with freshman midfielder/forward Chelsea Grotyohann earning her first collegiate assist. Renaldo capped off the scoring in the 64th minute with an assist from senior forward Vita Ranella.
The Greyhounds had a 28-7 advantage in shots and a 17-5 edge in penalty corners. Moravian sophomore goalie Catherine Gottlieb had one save in 57 minutes of action while freshman keeper Andrea Eck made one save in the final 13 minutes. Lindsay Harrison had 12 saves for Cedar Crest.

Senior midfielder Maureen Helfers, pictured at right, and senior forward Vita Ranella each had a goal and two assists to lead the Moravian College field hockey team to a 6-2 win over Immaculata University in non-conference action at Betty Prince Field Saturday afternoon.
Senior forward Becky Renaldo opened the scoring for Moravian in the 13th minute on a penalty corner off of pass from Ranella. The Mighty Macs tied the game in the 18th minute on an unassisted goal from sophomore forward Katie Becker.
The Greyhounds would take the lead for good when sophomore forward Briana Van Buskirk scored off of a pass from Helfers in the 27th minute. Moravian scored twice more in the first half with Helfers scoring off an assist from Ranella in the 29th minute, and Ranella, pictured below, netting her goal off of a pass by Helfers in the 34th minutes.
Moravian also scored the first two goals of the second half with Van Buskirk netting her second goal of the match and team leading third goal of the season off of a pass from junior forward Rolyn Santiago in the 50th minute. Senior midfielder Sarah Carman added an unassisted goal for the Greyhounds in the 64th minute, her first goal since the 2008 season. Senior midfielder/forward Kathleen Garrity finished off the scoring for Immaculata with a goal assisted by sophomore forward Lauren Beckley in the 66th minute.
Moravian had a 20-9 advantage in shots and a 15-3 edge in penalty corners. Sophomore goalie Catherine Gottlieb had three saves in 57 minutes of action while freshman goalie Andrea Eck made her collegiate in goal with two saves in the final 13 minutes of the contest for the Greyhounds. Sophomore keeper Jess Jones had six saves in the first half for the Mighty Macs while junior goalie Britt Worthington had one save in the second half. Moravian took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when senior forward Vita Ranella scored off of a pass from Renaldo. The Pacers tied the contests early in the second half on an unassisted goal from junior midfielder Julie Dougherty.
Renaldo broke the scoreless tie in the 43rd minute when she hit the back of the cage on a pass from senior midfielder Maureen Helfers. Just over two minutes later, Helfers set up the first collegiate goal for sophomore forward Briana Van Buskirk.
The Greyhounds had a 16-10 advantage in shots and a 13-8 edge in penalty corners. Sophomore goalie Catherine Gottlieb earner her first collegiate win in goal for Moravian, making three saves. Sophomore keeper Jamie Bowman had six saves for Marywood, which also had two defensive saves.

Matthews found a loose ball in the circle and scored the only goal of the contest. DeSales had a 10-2 advantage in shots and a 10-5 edge in penalty corners. Moravian sophomore goalie Catherine Gottlieb had two saves in the contest while Victoria DelToro made one stop.
