1998 Review

Leading the Lady Greyhounds field hockey team in points this season was junior Julie Kalbfleisch (Warminster/William Tennent HS). With six goals and two assists Kalbfleisch earned a team high of 14 points, six of them being in MAC Commonwealth League matches.

Following Kalbfleisch in points are newcomers Elissa Gerstel (Warminster/William Tennent HS) and Suzy Wargo (Somerville, NJ/Hillsborough HS). Both freshmen had five goals and three assists to start off their careers at Moravian with 13 points. Also with five goals this season was sophomore Chelsea Roberts (Philadelphia/St. Basil). Roberts also had an assist for 11 points

Also helping the Lady Hounds with scoring were juniors Stacey Laubenheimer (Marlton, NJ/Burnt Hills {NY} HS) with three goals and five assists and Tricia Salomonsen (Effort/ Pleasant Valley HS) with two goals. Sophomores Lynda Roney (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny HS) and Jennifer Cosentino (Shohola/ Delaware Valley HS), along with freshman Holly Levasseur (Brunswick, ME/Brunswick HS) scored two goals each.

Also scoring goals were junior Nicole Drey (Bethlehem/Northampton HS), sophomore Brook Dancho (Bethlehem/Freedom HS), and freshman Leslie Siebler (Easton/Wilson HS).

Salomonsen, also the team’s starting goalie, posted 1.31 goals-against average this year and had five shutouts. She made 9.4 saves per game. Freshman Samantha Fillian (Sea Girt, NJ/Wall HS) played 35 minutes in goal and combined with Salomonsen on a shutout of Cedar Crest College.

Helping Salomonsen on defense were senior Rebecca Ziegenfuss (Mullica Hill, NJ/ Clearview HS) and juniors Jill Maghakian (Brookline, NH/Hollis-Brookline HS), Colleen Walsh (Northampton/Northampton HS) and Kristeen Kelsey (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville HS). Ziegenfuss and Kelsey each had three assists on the season.

Sophomores Melissa Garrison (Phillipsburg, NJ/Belvidere HS), Kelly Pico (Lincoln Park, NJ/Boonton HS), and freshmen Nicole Solley (Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh), Rebecca Moletzsky (Norristown/Norristown HS), and Andrea Rafferty (Hellertown/Saucon Valley HS) also helped the team post a 7-11-0 season this year.
