At 2002 MAC Championships – 3rd of 14 - 2nd day Canceled

The Greyhounds finished third in the 2002 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships at the Shawnee Country Club after the second 27-holes was canceled due to rain. The tournament was shortened to the 27 holes completed on the first day, which had Moravian in third place.

At 2002 MAC Championships – 3rd of 14 after first day

Moravian is in third place, one stroke out of second, after the first 27 holes of the 2002 Middle Atlantic Conference Golf Championships being hosted by King’s College at the Shawnee Country Club. The Greyhounds trail Widener University by one stroke 479-480 and seven-time defending MAC Champion Susquehanna University sits in first place with a team score of 468. Widener’s Jeff Flynn was the top individual on the first day with a score of 113 over 27 holes. For Moravian, sophomore Jamison Licausi and junior Jason Pozniak are tied for sixth with totals of 118 while sophomore Brian Kurylo and senior Sean Carney are tied for 17th with 27-hole scores of 122. Freshman Todd Solecitto is tied for 30th at 126.

At Lehigh Valley Championships – 3rd of 4 (W 425-426 vs. Muhlenberg)

Moravian finished third of four teams and defeated rival Muhlenberg College at the Annual Lehigh Valley Championships. The victory gave Moravian head coach John Makuvek his 300th career victory in 34 seasons as the Greyhounds head coach and also clinched the Matte Award for Moravian, 9-7, over Muhlenberg for the 2001-02 academic year. Moravian did lose to NCAA Division I Lafayette College, the host school, and Lehigh University. Senior Sean Carney led the Greyhounds with a round of 83 at the Northampton Country Club while sophomore Brian Kurylo fired a round of 84. Junior Jason Pozniak had an 18-hole total of 85 while junior Charles Tice had an 86 and freshman Todd Solecitto posted an 87 to give Moravian a 425-426 victory over Muhlenberg. Moravian's other golfers included sophomore Jamison Licausi with an 89 and junior Sean Alden with a round of 91.

At Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational – 9th of 12

The Greyhounds slipped on spot to finish ninth of 12 schools on the second day of the Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational being hosted by the University of Scranton at the Glenmaura National Golf Club. Sophomore Jamison Licausi led the Greyhounds for a second straight with a round of 80 on the par-71 course and he finished tied for 15th with a two-day total of 156. Freshman Todd Solecitto was second for the Greyhounds with an 84 on day number two and tied for 24th overall with a 163. Junior Jason Pozniak fired a second round of 84 while senior Sean Carney had an 89. Both golfers finished tied for 41st with two-day totals of 172. Senior Ricky Gower rounded out the Moravian lineup with an 89 on Sunday and a total of 177, which placed him 52nd.

At Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational – 8th of 12 after first day

Moravian is in eighth place after the first day of the Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational being hosted by the University of Scranton at the Glenmaura National Golf Club. The Greyhounds have two individuals in the top 15 with sophomore Jamison Licausi tied for 11th with a round of 77 on the par-71 course and freshman Todd Solecitto is tied for 15th with a score of 79. Moravian’s other individuals included senior Sean Carney carding a round of 83 and senior Ricky Gower and junior Jason Pozniak each shooting 88.

Vs. Lebanon Valley College & Albright College – Lost 320-325-328

Moravian dropped a pair of matches at Saucon Valley Country Club, their home course, falling to Lebanon Valley College, 325-328, and Albright College, 320-328. Senior Sean Carney led the Greyhounds with a round of 79 on the par 72 Weyhill Course. Freshman Todd Solecitto had an 80 while senior Ricky Gower, junior Charles Tice and sophomore Jamison Licausi carded scores of 83. Junior Sean Alden had an 18-hole total of 84.

at DeSales University with Ursinus College – Won 328-348-374

Moravian won both contests in a tri-match at DeSales University with Ursinus College to move head coach John Makuvek, who is in his 34th season, one win away from 300 victories in his career. The Greyhounds defeated host DeSales 328-348 at the Brookside Country Club and Moravian topped Ursinus, 328-374. Individually for the Greyhounds, sophomore Jamison Licausi had a low round of 77 while senior Sean Carney and sophomore Brian Kurylo had 18-hole totals of 82. Rounding out the Moravian squad were junior Jason Pozniak with an 87 and junior Sean Alden with a round of 91.

at Elizabethtown College Blue Jay Classic – 10th of 17

The Greyhounds had a team score of 335 at the Elizabethtown College Blue Jay Classic played at the Hershey Country Club. Junior Jason Pozniak led Moravian with round of 82, good enough to tie for 18th place while senior Sean Carney and sophomore Brian Kurylo each fired 18-hole totals of 83, tying for 29th. Senior Ricky Gower turned in an 87 on his card to tie for 48th place while sophomore Jamison Licausi had an 88 to tie for 50th.

at Lebanon Valley College Invitational – 7th of 17

Moravian was seventh and posted a team score of 333 at the Lebanon Valley College Invitational played at the Lebanon Country Club. Millersville University's Black team won the event with a score of 308. Freshman Todd Solecitto led the Greyhounds and tied for 11th with a round of 79 while sophomores Brian Kurylo and Jamison Licausi tied for 22nd and each shot 81. Junior Charles Tice had a round of 92, which tied for 73rd, while senior Sean Carney rounded out the Moravian squad with a 93, tied for 76th.

Moravian Spring Invitational – 3rd & 11th of 18

The Greyhounds' A team placed third and Moravian's B team was 11th of 18 teams at the annual Moravian Spring Invitational played at Southmoore Golf Course. The College of New Jersey won the event with a team score of 314 while Moravian's teams had scores of 323 and 339. Junior Jason Pozniak led all Moravian golfers with a round of 79 for the A squad. He was joined on the A team by junior Charles Tice, who tied for 13th with an 80, senior Sean Carney and sophomore Jamison Licausi, who tied for 28th with rounds of 82, and sophomore Brian Kurylo, tied for 38th with an 83. Freshman Todd Solecitto led the B squad with a round of 80 while junior Sean Alden and senior Ricky Gower each had rounds of 82. At AGA Invitational hosted by King's College – 5th of 13

Moravian opened the 2002 portion of its season with a fifth place score of 336 at the Anthracite Golf Association Collegiate Invitational hosted by King’s College at the Wilkes-Barre Golf Course. The Greyhounds were in the top half of the 13 schools competing and third among the five Middle Atlantic Conference schools in the field.  Susquehanna University captured first place with a team score of 301 while Villa Julie College was second at 325.  Steve Datt of Susquehanna won medallist honors with a round of 73 on the par 72 course. For Moravian, sophomore Jamison Licausi tied for 16th with a round of 82 while senior Sean Carney was tied for 21st with an 84.  Junior Charles Tice and junior Jason Pozniak both tied for 25th with rounds of 85 while sophomore Brian Kurylo was tied for 30th with a round of 86.

At Muhlenberg College Fall Classic – 9th of 16

Moravian closed out the fall portion of its 2001-02 season with a ninth place finish of 16 schools at the Muhlenberg College Fall Classic played at the Lehigh Country Club.  Sophomore Jamison Licausi led the Greyhounds with a round of 81 while senior Ricky Gower fired an 84.  Sophomore Brian Kurylo had a 91, junior Jason Pozniak added a 90 and junior Sean Alden rounded out the squad with an 18-hole total of 94. 

At East Stroudsburg University Fall Invitational – 4th of 14

The Greyhounds competed at the East Stroudsburg University Invitational last week at the Shawnee Country Club and posted a team score of 314, good enough for fourth place among the 14 competing schools.  Senior Sean Carney paced the Greyhounds with a round of 76 while junior Sean Alden fired a 77.  Sophomore Brian Kurylo had a round of 80 while sophomore Jamison Licausi and junior Charles Tice each had scores of 81.

At Susquehanna University Fall Invitational – 9th of 17

Moravian competed in the Susquehanna University Fall Invitational at Edgewood-in- the-Pines Country Club and had two players, junior Sean Carney and sophomore Jamison Licausi, shoot rounds of 82.  Freshman Todd Solecitto had an 84 while junior Charles Tice had an 85 and sophomore Brian Kurylo fired an 87.  The Greyhounds were ninth of the 17 competing schools.

Moravian College Fall Invitational – 7th & 12th of 18

The Greyhounds B Team placed 7th and the A Squad placed 12th as Moravian hosted its Annual Fall Invitational at Southmoore Golf Course.  Sophomore Jamison Licausi led all Moravian golfers with a round of 78 on the par 71 course for the B Team.  Other B Team golfers included freshmen Todd Solecitto and Fred Grant competing at the collegiate level for the first time and tying for 27th and 37th respectively with scores of 83 and 84.  Junior Charles Tice had an 85 for the B team as did junior Jerry Coveney.  Junior Sean Alden and sophomore Brian Kurylo led the A Team with rounds of 85.  Junior Jason Pozniak fired an 18-hole total of 86 while junior Mike Schlamp had an 87 and senior Ricky Gower had an 89.  Click here for complete results of the Moravian Fall Invitational. 

At Elizabethtown College Fall Invitational – Tie for 9th of 18

Moravian tied for ninth place of 18 schools in its first action of the year at the Elizabethtown College Fall Invitational.  The tournament was played at the Hershey Country Club.  Junior Sean Alden paced the Greyhounds with a round of 79 while sophomore Brian Kurylo fired an 18-hole total of 82.  Senior Ricky Gower and junior Mike Schlamp each had rounds of 85 while junior Charles Tice finished with a 90.
