At 2006 Commonwealth Conference Championships – 1st of 7

The Greyhounds captured the 2006 Commonwealth Conference Championship with a 54-hole total score of 902. Susquehanna University was second at 923. The title is Moravian's fourth golf conference championship, and head coach John Makuvek was named the Commonwealth Conference Coach of the Year. Junior Brian Bergstol earned medalist honors with a four-under 212 over the 54-hole tournament on the par 72 course at Shawnee Country Club. Bergstol was seven stokes ahead of runner-up Mike Heller of Albright College to earn Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year honors. Senior Dustin McCormick finished third of 34 golfers with a score of 221 to earn Commonwealth All-Conference First Team honors with Bergstol. Sophomore Eric Whitman finished tenth in the tournament with a total of 234, and he was named to the Commonwealth All-Conference Second Team. Sophomore Bryan Ott was tied for 11th with a 54-hole score of 235 while sophomore Matt Hegarty fired a 242 for the tournament which was tied for 18th.

At 2006 Commonwealth Conference Championships – 1st of 7 (First Day Results)

Moravian was in first place of seven schools after the first 27 holes of the 2006 Commonwealth Conference Championships being played at the Shawnee Country Club. Moravian had a team score of 453 after the first day , seven strokes ahead of Albright College and ten strokes in front of Susquehanna University. Individually for Moravian, junior Brian Bergstol is first of the 34 golfers with a 27-hole total of 104 on the par 72 course. Senior Dustin McCormick is sixth with a 114 while sophomore Bryan Ott is tied for ninth at 117. Sophomore Eric Whitman fired a 118 over 27 holes and is tied for 12th while sophomore Matt Hegarty has a total of 121 and is tied for 22nd.

At Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational – 4th of 11

Moravian finished fourth of 11 schools at the two-day Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational hosted by the University of Scranton at the Glenmaura National Golf Course. The Greyhounds had a 36-hole team score of 620 after a second day total of 302 while York College of Pennsylvania won with a score of 613. Individually for Moravian, senior Dustin McCormick shot a second round 75 for a two-day total of 154 on the par 72 course, placing eighth. Junior Brian Bergstol was ninth of 58 golfers with a 36-hole total of 154 after a second round 76 while sophomore Eric Whitman also had a two-day total of 154 with a 77 for the second straight day. Sophomore Matt Hegarty shot a team low of 74 on the second day of the invitational to finish in 19th place with a score of 158 while sophomore Bryan Ott was disqualified during his first round.

At Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational – 6th of 11 (First Day Results)

The Greyhounds were in sixth place of 11 schools after the first round of the Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational being hosted by the University of Scranton at the Glenmaura National Golf Course. Moravian had a team score of 318 after the first day while Susquehanna University and The College of New Jersey were tied for first with team totals of 310. Individually for Moravian, sophomore Eric Whitman was tied for tenth with a first round of 77 on the par 72 course. Junior Brian Bergstol was 13th of 58 golfers with a round of 78 while senior Dustin McCormick was tied for 14th with a 79. Sophomore Matt Hegarty carded a first round 84 for Moravian to tie for 32nd place while sophomore Bryan Ott was disqualified during his round.

At Elizabethtown College Spring Blue Jay Classic – 2nd of 15

Moravian finished second of 15 schools at the Elizabethtown College Blue Jay Spring Classic with a team score of 35, six strokes behind winner Franklin & Marshall College. Senior Dustin McCormick earned medalist honors, shooting a round of 73 on the par 71 Hershey Country Club East Course. Junior Brian Bergstol tied for second among the 75 golfers with a score of 74 while sophomore Bryan Ott was tied for 31st with an 83. Sophomore Matt Hegarty carded an 85 for the Greyhounds, which was tied for 43rd, while sophomore Eric Whitman had an 18-hole total of 88, which was tied for 57th.

At Lehigh Valley Tournament – 3rd of 4

The Greyhounds placed third of four teams at the annual Lehigh Valley Tournament, finishing behind NCAA Division I Lehigh University (393) and Lafayette College (400), and ahead of rival Muhlenberg College by one stroke with a team score of 406. Junior Brian Bergstol led the Greyhounds with a round of 78 on the Northampton Country Club course while senior Dustin McCormick fired a round of 79. Sophomore Bryan Ott carded an 80 while sophomore Eric Whitman had an 18-hole total of 82 for Moravian. Sophomore Matt Hegarty and junior Thad Miller each had rounds of 87 while junior John Gilbert posted a round of 89 for the Greyhounds. The win over Muhlenberg gave Moravian its sixth win in the Matte Award standings althogh the Mules have already clinched the trophy with ten wins.

At Franklin & Marshall College Spring Invitational – 3rd of 16

Moravian placed third of 16 schools at the Franklin & Marshall College Spring Invitational at the Bent Creek Country Club with a team score of 304. Wesley (DE) College won the tournament with a 299 team total. For the Greyhounds, junior Brian Bergstol was second of the 83 golfers in the tournament with an even par round of 72. Senior Dustin McCormick and sophomore Bryan Ott were each tied for seventh with rounds of 74. Sophomore Eric Whitman carded an 84 for the Greyhounds, which was tied for 52nd while sophomore Matt Hegarty had an 89 which tied him for 67th.

At DeSales University with Ursinus College – Won 321-339-343

The Greyhounds won their only tri-match of the season, defeating host DeSales University, 321-339, and Ursinus College, 321-343, at the Brookside Country Club. Junior Brian Bergstol led Moravian with a low round of 77 while sophomore Matt Hegarty had a round of 80. Sophomore Bryan Ott carded an 81 while senior Dustin McCormick had an 83 and sophomore Brian Scofield had an 18-hole total of 92.

At Mid-Atlantic Region Invitational – 9th of 15

Moravian finished ninth of 15 schools at the two-day Mid-Atlantic Region Invitational hosted by the University of Rochester at the Hershey Country Club. The Greyhounds finished the 36-hole tournament with a team score of 652 while Allegheny College finished first at 619. Sophomore Bryan Ott tied for seventh of the 75 golfers with a two-day total of 155, including a first round score of 75 on the par 71 course. Junior Brian Bergstol tied for tenth at 158 with a pair of 79s while senior Dustin McCormick was tied for 27th with a 162 including a round of 75 on the second day. Junior John Gilbert was 72nd with a two-day total of 179 while sophomore Eric Whitman did not finish the tournament after a first round score of 88.

At Mid-Atlantic Region Invitational – 7th of 15 after first day

The Greyhounds were in seventh place of 15 schools after the first day of the Mid-Atlantic Region Invitational being played at the Hershey Country Club. Moravian had a team score of 329 on the first day while Washington & Jefferson College was in first place with a 317. No individual scores were available.

Moravian College Spring Invitational – Canceled

Moravian has canceled its annual Spring Invitational at Southmoore golf course due to weather conditions. The tournament will not be rescheduled.

At Lebanon Valley College Spring Invitational – 4th of 20

The Greyhounds placed fourth of 20 schools at the Lebanon Valley College Spring Invitational with a team score of 322. Neumann College took first place at the tournament with a team total of 315 on the Lebanon Country Club course. Senior Dustin McCormick led Moravian with a round of 77 on the par 72 course, tying him for sixth of the 102 golfers. Sophomore Eric Whitman finished in a tie for 22nd with an 18-hole total of 82 while junior Thad Miller and sophomore Bryan Ott each carded rounds of 82 to tie for 27th place. Junior John Gilbert rounded out the Moravian line-up with a round of 92 which tied him for 82nd place.

At York (PA) College Spring Invitational – 1st of 8

Moravian began the 2006 spring portion of its schedule with a first place finish at the York (PA) College Spring Invitational. The Greyhounds posted a team score of 300 to place three strokes ahead of second place Keystone College and first of the eight schools at the invitational. Moravian junior Brian Bergstol earned medalist honors with a four-under round of 68 on the par 72 course at the Outdoor Country Club. Sophomore Eric Whitman placed second with an even-par round of 72 while senior Dustin McCormick was tied for 13th of the 39 golfers with an 18-hole total of 78. Rounding out the Greyhound line-up were junior John Gilbert in a tie for 25th with a round of 82 and sophomore Bryan Ott in 35th place with an 89.

At Muhlenberg College Fall Invitational – 3rd of 9

The Greyhounds closed out their 2005 fall season with a third place finish at the Muhlenberg College Fall Invitational played at the Lehigh Country Club. Moravian had a team score of 342 while The College of New Jersey won the tournament with a score of 331. Moravian junior Brian Bergstol tied for first with a round of 77 on the par 70 course, however, was second overall of the 44 golfers based on the lower score on the final nine holes of the course. Senior Dustin McCormick had a round of 83 for the Greyhounds while junior John Gilbert and sophomore Bryan Ott each carded 91. Sophomore Brian Scofield rounded out the Moravian golfers with a round of 94.

At Nike Collegiate Classic hosted by McDaniel College – 11th of 14

Moravian placed 11th of 14 schools at the two-day Nike Collegiate Classic hosted by McDaniel College at the Ocean Pines Country Club in Ocean City. Allegheny College won the tournament with a two-day total score of 607 while the Gators Chris Moore fired rounds of 73 and 73 on the par 72 course to win the individual title by two strokes. Moravian finished with a two-day team total of 658. Junior Brian Bergstol paced the Greyhounds with a two-day score of 151 after rounds of 78 and 73 to place sixth of the 66 golfers while senior Dustin McCormick had a 156 with rounds of 79 and 77 to tie for 17th. Junior Thad Miller had rounds of 77 and 91 to post a score of 168 for the tournament, which was tied for 48th, while sophomore Bryan Ott had a two-day total of 183 after rounds of 91 and 92, which placed him 64th. Sophomore Brian Scofield had an 18-hole total of 97 each day for a total score of 194 to place 66th.

At Nike Collegiate Classic hosted by McDaniel College – Tied for 9th of 14 after first day

Moravian finished in a tie for ninth place with Franklin & Marshall College and SUNY Delhi at 325 after the first day of the Nike Collegiate Classic being hosted by McDaniel College at the Ocean Pines Country Club in Ocean City, Maryland. Washington & Jefferson College leads the tournament with a team score of 302. Three golfers are tied for first place after rounds of 73 on the par 72 course.

At Muhlenberg College Fall Tournament – Postponed to October 24th

The Greyhounds trip to the Muhlenberg College Fall Tournament has been postponed due to wet grounds at the Lehigh Country Club in Allentown. The tournament has been rescheduled for Monday, October 24th at 11:00 a.m.

At Elizabethtown College Fall Blue Jay Classic – Tied for 5th of 14

Moravian finished in a tie for fifth place among 14 schools at the Elizabethtown College Fall Blue Jay Classic played on the Hershey Country Club East Course. The Greyhounds had a team score of 309, tying York College of Pennsylvania, while Susquehanna University won the tournament with a team total of 294. Sophomore Brian Scofield led Moravian with a round of 75 on the par-71 course, which tied him for eighth of the 74 competitors. Senior Dustin McCormick tied for 17th with a score of 77 while junior Brian Bergstol carded a 78 to tie for 23rd. Junior Thad Miller had a round of 79, which was tied for 29th, while sophomore Eric Whitman was tied for 57th with an 18-hole total of 85.

At Lebanon Valley College Fall Invitational – 4th of 20

The Greyhounds placed fourth of 20 schools at the Lebanon Valley College Fall Invitational played at the Lebanon Country Club. Moravian had a team score of 311 while York College of Pennsylvania won the tournament with a team total of 300. Junior Brian Bergstol paced the Greyhounds with a round of 76 on the par 72 course that tied him for seventh place among the 101 golfers. Sophomore Eric Whitman and junior Thad Miller were each tied for 15th with rounds of 77 while sophomore Bryan Ott finished in a tie for 42nd with an 18-hole total of 81. Senior Dustin McCormick carded an 82, which was tied for 52nd, to round out the Moravian golfers.

At Susquehanna University Fall Invitational – 4th of 12

Moravian finished fourth at the Susquehanna University Fall Invitational played at the Edgewood-in-the-Pines Golf Course with a team score of 322. The host Crusaders won the event with a team total of 301. Senior Dustin McCormick led the Greyhounds with a round of 74 on the par 72 course which tied him for second of the 65 golfers. Junior John Gilbert and sophomore Eric Whitman tied for 23rd with rounds of 82 while sophomore Bryan Ott finished in a tie for 33rd place after an 18-hole total of 84.

Moravian College Fall Invitational – 1st of 19     Complete Results

The Greyhounds captured their second straight tournament of the 2005-06 season, winning the Moravian Fall Invitational with a team score of 304 at Southmoore Golf Course. Moravian finished three strokes ahead of Keystone College for the second time this season in the 19-team tournament. Junior Brian Bergstol paced the Greyhounds with an 18-hole score of 73, which tied for second among the 96 golfers on the par 71 course. Sophomore Eric Whitman tied for fourth after carding a 74 while sophomore Bryan Ott had a round of 77 to tie for 14th place. Rounding out the Moravian squad were senior Dustin McCormick in a tie for 35th with an 18-hole total of 80 and junior Thad Miller tied for 64th after a round of 84. The Greyhounds also had two individual competitors with junior John Gilbert tying for sixth place with a round of 75 and sophomore Brian Scofield tying for 28th with an 18-hole total of 79.

At Franklin & Marshall College Fall Invitational – 1st of 19

Moravian began its 2005-06 season with a first place finish out of 19 teams with a score of 305 at the Franklin & Marshall College Fall Invitational, played on the par 72 Bent Creek Country Club course. The Greyhounds finished three strokes ahead of Keystone College. Senior Dustin McCormick and junior Brian Bergstol each fired rounds of 70 to tie for medalist honors among the 95 golfers. Junior Thad Miller carded a round of 82 to tie for 38th place while sophomore Brian Scofield had an 18-hole total of 83, which was tied for 45th. Junior John Gilbert rounded out the Moravian squad with a round of 92, which tied him for 82nd place.
