The 2007-08 Moravian College golf team placed third of four schools at the 2008 Landmark Conference Invitational played at the Saucon Valley Country Club. Moravian had a team score of 346 in the 18-hole tournament while Susquehanna University won the team title with a score of 328 to win the conference tournament. The Greyhounds, under the direction of head coach John Makuvek for the 40th season, won one tournament on the season and placed in the top five in seven of 17 tournaments.
Leading the Greyhounds was senior Eric Whitman (Blairstown, NJ/Notre Dame East Stroudsburg {PA} HS), who completed the year with a 79.7 average including a best round of 72 at the Elizabethtown College Fall Blue Jay Classic, which was good enough for second place. Freshman Seth Hartman (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown HS) ended of the season with an 80.2 average to go along with a best round score of 76 at the Ursinus Quad Match which was good enough for first place on the day.
Freshman Dan Brown (Barto, PA/Boyertown HS) completed an 80.8 average for the year which included a best round of 76 at the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Cup which earned him a second place finish while sophomore Nicholas Repko-Moschini (Easton, PA/Easton HS) shot his best score of 75 at the Moravian College Fall Invitational. Repko-Moschini also had an 80.0 average on the year. Sophomore Steve Labiak (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) got his best scored of the year at the Centenary Cyclone Invitational in which he put up a score of 76 to get first place for the tournament. Labiak ended out the year with an 81.3 average.
Sophomore Alan Kliewer (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata HS) completed an 81.6 average to go along with a best round score of 78 at the Centenary Cyclone Invitational, which earned him a third place finish. Senior Matt Hegarty (Morrestown, NJ/Moorestown HS) posted an 83.1 average including a best round score of 80, while freshman Lucas Smith (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing HS) put up an average of 83.3 on the year which included score of 76 for a second place finish at the Centenary Cyclone Invitational. Freshman Robert McKay (Bethlehem, PA/Northampton HS) composed an 83.5 average in his collegiate debut season including a best round score of 79 at the Albright College Quad Match.
Also competing for the Greyhounds were senior Brian Scofield (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills Regional HS), sophomore Doug Miller (Leesport, PA/Schuylkill Valley HS) and freshmen Thomas Ferretti (Dumont, NJ/Dumont HS) and Eric Dziengelski (Coatesville, PA/Chestnut Hill Academy).
Coach Makuvek only loses three seniors to graduation and looks to return a strong squad for the 2008-09 season.
