Co-Head Coach John Makuvek

John MakuvekJohn Makuvek, who retired in 1996 after four years as athletics director, continues to direct the Greyhound golf team.

As golf coach for 42 years, Makuvek has compiled a 316-193 record. He is Moravian’s all-time winningest golf coach, winning the 2006 Commonwealth Conference Championship. His linksters also won the 1997 and 1994 Middle Atlantic Conference titles, following in the footsteps of the 1974 MAC champion team.

The 1993 squad, with a 16-0 dual match record, was the first-ever undefeated Moravian golf team; 1994’s 15-0 squad was the second, and the program enjoyed a winning streak of 41 matches in a row. Makuvek's 1999 team posted the squad's third undefeated season in the 1990's with an 8-0 record.

Previously, Makuvek held the top spot in the Moravian varsity soccer program for 24 years. During that time, his soccer teams compiled a 219-133-29 overall record and competed in nine ECAC post-season tournaments and one NCAA tournament. Makuvek-coached teams also won one MAC championship and four MAC Southern Division titles.

A licensed U.S. Soccer Federation coach, Makuvek earned a B.S. and M.Ed. from East Stroudsburg University where he played soccer, basketball, and golf. Makuvek can be reached by calling (610) 861-1535.


Co-Head Coach Kevin Edwards

Kevin Edwards is beginning his first year as co-head coach of the Moravian golf team. Edwards is a 1996 graduate of Moravian and is currently the PGA Director of Golf at Woodstone Country Club in Danielsville, PA located approximately 20 minutes north of Moravian. He was a member of the 1994 undefeated MAC Championship Team and earned All-MAC honors in 1994 and 1996.

Edwards has been a PGA Member of nine years and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Philadelphia Second PGA and is also a member of the tournament, education and membership committees. He previously served as the men's golf coach at Muhlenberg College for two seasons while he was an assistant professional at Lehigh Country Club and led the 2004 team to a Centennial Conference title.
