2004 Review

Moravian College completed its inaugural NCAA men’s lacrosse campaign this spring and had improved over the course of the season. The Greyhounds finished the season with a 3-13 record and a 0-10 slate in the Middle Atlantic Conference.

Head coach Fran Meagher coached a team consisting mainly of underclassmen with ten freshman, five sophomores, and one junior.

Freshman Clint Quedenfeld (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West HS) led Moravian in assists and points with 54 and 81, respectively to go along with 27 goals. Through most of the season, Quedenfeld was ranked in the top five in the nation in assists and points per game.

Leading the team in goals was freshman Daniel Larson (Dover, DE/Dover HS) with 38 to go along with six assists for 44 points while classmate T.J. Hirsch (Lake Peekskill, NY/Walter Panas HS) added 21 goals and 11 assists for 32 points. Hirsch also had team highs of 117 face-offs won and six man-up goals while Larson won 37 face-offs. Freshman Nick Cacciutti (Media, PA/Haverford School) contributed 23 goals and two assists for 25 points, and he scored four man-up goals.

Freshman Jay Dantinne (Millersville, PA/Penn Manor HS) added 16 goals and four assists for 20 points while classmate Ken Blom (Rochelle Park, NJ/Bergen Catholic HS) had three goals and four points for seven points and 33 face-off wins before ending his season early due to an injury. Freshman Tristan Flis (Harleysville, PA/North Penn HS) contributed four goals and one assist, while classmate A.J. Herold (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough HS) added three goals and one assist for the Hounds.

Sophomore Greg Hawzen (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough HS) had 51 groundballs, while classmate Rocco DiPoalo (Keyport, NJ/Academy of Marine Science) had 37 groundballs. Freshman Tim Guider (Shoreham, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) had 19 groundballs. Sophomore Keith Jacobson (Cotati, CA/Cresskill (NJ)) had 12 groundballs, while sophomore Peter Coldwell (Bound Brook, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan HS) added eight groundballs for the Greyhounds.

Freshman goalkeeper Harry McCann (Cranford, NJ/St. Peter’s Prep HS) saw 908:59 minutes in the cage. He posted a 17.10 GAA and a .431 saves percentage, while making 196 saves. Junior goalie Jason Snider (Reading, PA/Reading HS) made 15 saves in 53 minutes and posted a 11.32 goals against average.

Coach Meagher plans on returning most of the roster from this past season and looks to improve next spring and become a challenge in the Commonwealth Conference.
