Vs. Messiah College - Lost 19-6     Boxscore

The Greyhounds closed out the 2007 season with a 19-6 loss Messiah College in a Middle Atlantic Conference match at Rocco Calvo Field. The Falcons, who finish the MAC regular season undefeated, scored the first five goals of the contest and led 8-1 after 15 minutes. Messiah had a 13-2 advantage at halftime, and both schools scored just once for a 14-3 Falcon lead heading in the final quarter. Messiah held a 38-33 advantage in shots and a 40-33 edge in ground balls while Moravian won 15 of 27 face-offs. Sophomore attack Jason Tosches scored a pair of goals for the Greyhounds, including Moravian's first of the game on a man-down situation. Senior midfielder T.J. Hirsch had a goal in a man-up opportunity and two assists while winning 15 of 23 face-offs and scooping up a game high 16 ground balls. Hirsch completes his career with school records 366 ground balls and 464 face-off wins in 866 attempts. Senior attack Daniel Larson, sophomore attack Keith Danner and sophomore midfielder Andrew Miranda each found the back of the cage once for the Greyhounds while senior midfielder Ken Blom had an assist in his final collegiate match. Sophomore goalie Benjamin Larson played 54 minutes in goal with 13 saves and seven ground balls, and he moved to attack for the final six minutes to play alongside his older brother Daniel as the duo played their final match together. Freshman keeper David Crawford played the final six minutes for Moravian with one save. Alex Finch led Messiah with six goals while Nick Ricucci added five goals and two assists. Ryan Finch netted a pair of goals for the Falcons to go with three assists while Andrew Collins had a game high seven assists to go with one goal. Moravian dropped its final non-conference and road contest of the 2007 season, falling to future Landmark Conference rival Goucher College, 8-2. The Gopher led 3-0 after the first quarter and at the intermission, and Goucher had a 6-2 lead after 45 minutes of action. The Gophers had a 47-18 advantage in shots and a 43-30 advantage in ground balls while Moravian won nine of 12 face-offs. Sophomore attack Christopher Danni and freshman midfielder Cruz Sierra each had a goal and an assist for the Greyhounds. Sierra also had a team high seven ground balls while senior midfielder T.J. Hirsch contributed five ground balls and won eight of 11 face-offs. Moravian sophomore goalie Benjamin Larson made 17 saves in the match. Alan Tiet and Casey Hughes each had two goals and an assist to lead Goucher while Dan Flamholz had a goal and two assists. Austin Main made six saves for the Gophers in 55 minutes of action while Anthony Spinella had one save.

The Greyhounds lost their final Middle Atlantic Conference road contest of the season, falling to Elizabethtown College, 16-4. The Blue Jays led 5-1 after 15 minutes and 9-2 at halftime. Elizabethtown, which had a 12-3 advantage after three quarters, had a 38-21 edge in shots, a 44-31 advantage in ground balls and won 12 of 22 face-offs in the match. Sophomore attack Keith Danner and freshman midfielder Cruz Sierra led Moravian with a goal and an assist each while junior midfielder T.J. Hirsch and sophomore attack Jason Tosches each found the back of the net once. Hirsch had a team high eight ground balls and won six of 15 face-offs. Sophomore goalie Benjamin Larson made ten saves and had five ground balls in 46 minutes of action while freshman keeper David Crawford made two stops in 14 minutes for the Greyhounds. Frankie Puzzangara led Elizabethtown with four goals and three assists while Ryan McCafferty scored four goals. Aaron Weber contributed three goals and two assists while Josh Dougherty had a hat trick for the Blue Jays. Moravian dropped a 17-5 decision at Drew University in a Middle Atlantic Conference contest. The Rangers jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter and held a 6-1 lead at halftime. Drew extended its lead to 11-1 after three quarters before Moravian put four goals in the cage in the final 15 minutes. The Rangers had a 46-19 advantage in shots, a 52-30 edge in ground balls and won 20 of 27 face-offs in the contest. The Greyhounds rallied from a two-goal deficit early in the fourth quarter to earn their second Middle Atlantic Conference win of the season, defeating King's College, 7-6, at Rocco Calvo Field. Moravian led 2-1 after the first quarter; however, the Monarchs scored the only two goals in the second 15 minutes to go to halftime with a 3-2 lead. The contest was tied at 4-4 after three quarters, but King's netted a pair of goals in the first 2:40 of the fourth quarter for a 6-4 advantage. Moravian would score at the 7:41 and 6:53 marks of the fourth to tie the match. Greyhound sophomore attack Jason Tosches took a pass from senior midfielder T.J. Hirsch and put the winning goal in the back of the cage with 1:10 remaining in the contest. Moravian had a 29-26 advantage in shots, a 48-43 edge in ground balls and won 11 of 16 face-offs in the contest. Senior attack Daniel Larson led the Greyhounds with two goals while Tosches, sophomore attack Christopher Danni and freshmen midfielders Kevin Smart, Cruz Sierra and Dylan Maher each found the back of the net once. Moravian fell to Widener University, 13-3, in a Middle Atlantic Conference match at Rocco Calvo Field. The Pride scored the first nine goals of the match with leads of 2-0 after one quarter, 4-0 at halftime and 9-0 after 45 minutes. Moravian scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter to break up the shutout bid by Widener. The Pride had a 53-10 advantage in shots, a 44-22 edge in ground balls and won 13 of 19 face-offs in the contest. Sophomore attack Jason Tosches scored the Greyhounds' first goal on a man-up opportunity, and senior attack Daniel Larson and sophomore attack Keith Danner also scored. Senior midfielder T.J. The Greyhounds dropped an 8-6 decision at Susquehanna University in Middle Atlantic Conference action in a match played in the snow. The Crusaders led 3-1 after the first quarter and 6-2 at halftime. Moravian would score four of the six goals in the second half. Susquehanna had a 33-29 edge in shots and a 38-23 advantage in ground balls while both teams won nine of 18 face-offs. Senior midfielder Ken Blom led Moravian with two goals including a man-up goal and an assist. Senior midfielder T.J. Moravian won its first match of the season, defeating local rival DeSales University, 8-4, in Middle Atlantic Conference action. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter and led 4-0 before the Bulldogs scored. Moravian led 5-2 at halftime and had an 8-3 advantage after three quarters. DeSales did have a 44-26 advantage in shots and a 52-45 edge in ground balls while Moravian won nine of 15 face-offs. Senior midfielder Ken Blom led the Greyhounds with two goals and an assist including a man-up goal in the third quarter for his 50th career tally. Sophomore attack Jason Tosches also had two goals while freshmen midfielders Kevin Smart and Cruz Sierra each had a goal and an assist. Senior midfielder T.J. Hirsch and sophomore attack Keith Danner each found the back of the cage once for the Greyhounds. Hirsch, who is nationally ranked in face-off percentage, won nine of 14 face-offs to give him a 105 face-off wins this season, breaking his own school record, and 407 for his career, also a school record. Hirsch also had eight ground balls to give him a school record 88 for the season, and Hirsch currently leads the nation in ground balls per game. Sophomore goalie Benjamin Larson made 18 saves in the match, and he also had a game high and career best 12 ground balls. Joshua Van Hart led DeSales with two goals while Dan Thomer added a goal and an assist. Matthew Brancaccio had three assists while Jarryd Stamatelos made seven saves for the Bulldogs.

Vs. Lycoming College - Lost 8-5    Boxscore

The Greyhounds suffered an 8-5 loss to Lycoming College in Middle Atlantic Conference action at Rocco Calvo Field. The match was the second in a week the Moravian had scored the first two goals before eventually losing. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 2-0 lead near the middle of the first quarter on a pair of goals in less than 30 seconds including a man-up goal by senior attack Daniel Larson. Lycoming scored the next five goals in the match to trail 2-1 at the end of the first quarter and lead 3-2 at halftime. The Warriors extended their lead to 5-2 before Moravian scored a pair of third quarter tallies to trail just 5-4 with 15 minutes to play. Lycoming would run of three goals in a 1:05 late in the fourth quarter before the Greyhounds netted the final tally with a man-up goal with 34 seconds to play. The Warriors had a 34-23 advantage in shots, q 40-29 edge in ground balls and won ten of 17 face-offs. Sophomore attack Jason Tosches led Moravian with a hat trick while senior midfielder T.J. Hirsch had a goal and two assists. The three points, including an assist on Tosches' final goal to end the match, gave Hirsch 100 points for his career, the third player in school history to score 100 points. Hirsch has 69 career goals and 31 career assists. Hirsch, who leads the nation in ground balls per game, had just three in the contest but did become the first player in school history with 300 career ground balls with 301. Hirsch also entered the match nationally ranked in face-off percentage but was just five of 13 against the Warriors. Larson had a goal and an assist for the Greyhounds while sophomore attack Keith Danner had a pair of assists. Sophomores midfielder Brian Cleaver and defender Steven Carroll each had four ground balls to lead Moravian while sophomore goalie Benjamin Larson contributed 16 saves and three ground balls. The Devils led 2-0 after the first quarter and had a 4-0 lead before the Greyhounds scored the final goal of the first half. FDU-Florham scored four of the seven goals in the third quarter to lead 8-4 heading into the final 15 minutes. The Devils had a 39-31 advantage in shots while Moravian had a 35-31 edge in ground balls and won 13 of 18 face-offs. The Greyhounds began the 2007 Middle Atlantic Conference season with a 9-7 loss at the University of Scranton. Moravian jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the score was tied 2-2 after the first quarter. The Royals found the back of the net three times in the second quarter to head to the intermission with a 5-3 lead, and Scranton extended its lead to 7-3 after three quarters. Moravian scored four of the six goals in the final quarter including two in the final 1:10 of the contest. The Greyhounds had a 32-27 advantage in shots, a 43-39 edge in ground balls and won 14 of 20 face-offs in the match. Moravian dropped a 15-6 decision to rival Muhlenberg College in a non-conference match at Rocco Calvo Field. The Mules jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter and led 5-0 before the Greyhounds scored two straight goals. Muhlenberg would add four more goals to hold a 9-2 lead at the intermission. The Mules, who led 13-3 after three quarters, had a 42-32 advantage in shots and a 39-35 edge in ground balls during the match. Moravian won 16 of 25 face-offs with senior midfielder T.J. Hirsch winning 13 of 20 face-offs for the Greyhounds. The Mules were four-for-six on extra-man opportunities while the Greyhounds were just two-for-ten with a man advantage. Hirsch and senior midfielder Ken Blom each scored twice for Moravian with sophomore attack Keith Danner and freshman midfielder Kevin Smart each finding the back of the cage once. Hirsch had a team high ten ground balls for the Greyhounds while Larson scooped up six ground balls. The victory gives the Mules a 9-3 lead in the annual Matte Award standings, assuring Muhlenberg at least a tie for the award with six teams still to compete this spring.

Moravian's 2007 Middle Atlantic Conference season opening match at Susquehanna University originially scheduled for March 17th has been postponed a third time due to snow and ice covering Sassafrass Field in Selinsgrove. The match has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 7th at 12:00 p.m. in Selinsgrove.

The Greyhounds suffered a loss to host Colorado College in the consolation match of the Colorado College Invitational. The Tigers jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter and led 6-0 in the second quarter before Moravian scored a pair of goals. Colorado had a 7-2 lead at halftime. The Tigers lead 9-3 after three quarters and had a 36-22 advantage in shots in the contest. Moravian had a 37-21 edge in ground balls and the Greyhounds won 13 of 20 face-offs. The Greyhounds dropped their second straight match, falling to McDaniel College, 11-4, in the team's first road game of the 2007 season. McDaniel jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter and led 6-2 at halftime. Moravian scored the only goal of the third quarter before McDaniel scored five times in the final 15 minutes. McDaniel had a 44-15 advantage in shots, a 45-28 edge in ground balls and won 12 of 19 face-offs. Moravian began the 2007 season with a 19-6 non-conference loss to Ursinus College at Rocco Calvo Field. The Greyhounds had looked to take a quick 1-0 lead just 17 seconds into the match; however, senior attack Daniel Larson's stick was deemed illegal so the goal was taken off the board. Just seconds after his three-minute penalty was released, Larson was knocked out of the contest with an injury. The Bears scored four straight goals after Moravian's disallowed goal to take control of the match. Ursinus led 5-1 after the first quarter and was up 10-3 at the intermission. The Bears found the back of the net six times in the third quarter to extend their lead to 16-5. Ursinus finished the contest with a 48-21 advantage in shots and 51-34 edge in ground balls. The Bears also won 15 of 28 face-offs in the match. Senior midfielder Ken Blom and sophomore attach Jason Tosches each scored two goals for the Greyhounds while senior midfielder T.J.
